Recreational park featuring a zoo with mammals, reptiles & birds, plus a playground & train ride.
Worst maintenance by Coimbatore corporation. Govt must take more initiative to keep the park clean and hygiene. Strangers are roaming in the park often times and public are getting scared when they come to park with their kids. Located in the heart of the city I feel very sad to see the disastrous condition of the public park which was a good entertaining , feel good place one some years ago. Kids will also get spoiled as there are many uneasy and unpleasant things by some stupid guys thinking as they are lovers and doing cheap awkward activities inside the park. Securities and corporation staffs must alert these guys in doing such rubbish things.Morever TN govt should take immediate action and look into this issue and make this Voc park as a beautiful, natural park in the future.
VOC Park and Zoo, also known as the V.O.Chidambaranar Park and is an Amusement Park and Zoological Garden mostly visited by locals of Coimbatore for recreational purposes. The park and zoo is a preferred picnic spot for families who get their kids to have a wonderful time and introduce them to the world of animals. The park has a play area for the kids, an aquarium and a Jurassic Park where not just children but even adults can have fun. It is a perfect place to get the imagination running to build stories. The zoo houses over 500 animals belonging to about 30 species including birds, mammals and reptiles.
Lovers park not suitable for families...Poor maintenance....
I spend my weekend most o f the time in park during my college time (3-4 years back). Now i recently visited voc park. It is not clean and maintenance is required most of the place especially toilet, water fountain, zoo cage (animal container).
Voc park and zoo situated in Coimbatore. The park is always open and zoo open after 4:30 pm with 20βΉticket.
This zoo is closed indefinitely till further orders. We couldnt find this information anywhere before visiting here. We were disappointed. Date - 24.09.2022
Good place to visit with kids.Horse rides are available at the gate. There is a skatting rink where classes are conducted.Usually crowded on the weekends.Ample parking space is available.
it was closed still the atmosphere , kids friendly and the food Street infront is a spot for weekend
Since from my childhood this is my all time favourite place. Just to see the birdsποΈπ¦π¦©π¦’π¦€ποΈπ¦and animalsπ¦π¦πππ and feeding them is my favourite thing while holding my parents hand and getting excited about each and every bird and animal. Also the toy train π has my whole heart β€οΈππ
Its too green and so beautiful and his zoo have so beautiful animal and birds
Dont come one of worst ever zoo i saw πππ
Very poor ambience & maintenance. Can see lots of flying fox on trees. Paid toilet is there. Externally around the campus horse riding, childrens games are available. Nothing is clean.
Zoo has been closed for the past 6months. However we could see some parrots and monkey over the compound wall of the zoo. We also saw lots and lots of bats hanging from the trees all over the park. The park was in a very worst condition. Not maintained at all. It was shabby everywhere. Except for the aquarium where somewhere around 10 fish species are kept, nothing else was there. We were utterly disappointed.
Not well maintained, but you can visit with your kids they can explore more about animals.. You can see varieties of cobra, some rare birds, tortoise, monkeys, bats, deer, duck, Emu, etc. Couples dominance is more in that zoo it will be good if the management take an action because the family visitors disguised, Finally an average place to spend some time with your family or beloved once with just 5rs as an entrance fee
Not recommended for touristsThe zoo was in shut state when we arrived around noon time on a Saturday. We were told that the functioning of the zoo has been erratic in recent times. Anyway, we then proceeded to the park and found it to be in a pathetic condition. A combination of govt. apathy and lack of civic sense among the public have reduced this decades-old park into a sorry state. It was littered everywhere with no cleaners or even waste bins in sight. Only the small aquarium building, which was relatively well-maintained, was worth a visit. It . I would not recommend this park, even though free, to anyone whos on a short visit to the city. There are much better ways to spend your time.
Under poor maintenance!Dont ever visit this place on a sunny weekend day.
Zoo is closed. Govt should take some proper action. Its closed for long days. Things are not maintaining properly. Good place. But they are destroying. Sad to see this place now. Good place for children and family.. but not maintaining... dont know what coimbatore politicians are doing...
This one of very oldest animal zoo in Asia. Also this the 1st animal zoo in Tamilnadu. Once upon a time there is lion, tiger, and more wild animals are there. But now it looks very bad. Poor condition. No wild animals. Only goat, chicken, rats are there. I personally request TN Govt to rework this place and make our childhood place beautiful.
Most underrated place in coimbatore for kids. Always had a good time.Zoo is the best attraction with a variety of birds and animals.Snakes and crocodile are the superstars.Park is good place to relax. There are lots of rides outside the park too - including horse rides and ferris wheel.Food options are plenty - street food as well as couple of good restaurants nearby.
Not maintained properly. No star to this place. The aquarium has a foul smell. Not recommended to visit. The zoo is not opened. I think there are no animals at all. Too much crowded. I dont know why it is so crowded when nothing is there. Good place for skating practice other than that nothing.
The place is not maintained properly! The plastics, eatery packets etc., should be removed and I can see the literal change from how it was before 5 years!! Disappointed
I visited to VOC park after years. I really disappointed of the condition of the park. They did not maintain good enough all over plastics and other substance are lying around.πSo they can take some steps to maintain!!
Park area is open but lack maintenance and is in pathetic condition. Not for family and kids any more , forest like atmosphere , not suggested to visit in this time . near by zoo also closed
Some of the cages are empty. Zookeepers must focus on animals health. Overall a good experience
Do not expect much. Its a basic zoo park with decent number of bird species, few species of snakes, crocodile and deer. Good for kids below 10years.
I am visiting this zoo every year since 2012. I see that the no of animals in the zoo are gradually reduced except crocodile and snakes. Very poor maintenance. It is surprisingly seen that the entry fee is still Rs.3/- only. There was a proposal to shift this zoo out of city limit for space problem of animals/birds maintained here as well as GoIs new instructions for Zoo. Half an hour to one hr u can spend there. Children will enjoy the animals and birds over there. And also it is a fact that animals and birds have to be there in its own habitats.

It was good.. Only 5rs for me and my kid.. You cant see much neet area.. Its a small zoo..
It is situated near the nehru stadium. You can reach here by car, bike or auto. You have to pay a minimum entry fee to visit the zoo.The zoo is dirty and unclean.Just by looking the animals and their surroundings you can say that they are suffering there. They are not even up to maintain the zoo.I hope they are atleast feeding the animals.I have a request, atleast try to clean their surroundings.Park is open for all.Just like the zoo the park is also not maintained well. There is nothing to see there. One more thing, the entire zoo and park trees filled with bats.Very disappointed even the mighty coimbatore city host such a terrible place at the centre of its area.Very disappointed.
I would have loved to give a better rating to this, but for the way the whole park has been maintained. I only wish it was better maintained as it would definitely made for a much better experience. While the entry fee is very nominal, or to say, barely anything in todays standards, raising it a bit more to keep the park and its inmates healthy and cleaner would go a long way. I wish the authorities would take a note of this. Everyone loves the zoo for their themselves or their kids, but atmosphere in it and its surroundings should make you also feel at home.
Small zoo in heart of Coimbatore city .. We can see snakes , crocodile and birds and all .. Good entertainment for children and adults as well . Worth visiting to spend an hour π
I was a lot of BATS π¦ flying in the park area. I am also lucky to spot a π¦ when I visited that evening. Missed visiting the ZOO as it was closed when I visited. Good for a morning or an evening walk.Beware, you may find young teens doing PDA in the park area during evening time.
A small and very greenery zoo located in the heart of the city. Doesnt have much wild animals but enough to keep the kids entertained. Sharing a few pics I clicked, they got birds, deers, snakes, crocodiles and monkeys.

VOC Park & Zoo is located in ATT Colony in Gopalapuram which is barely 4 kilometres away from the centre of the city. Government run buses and taxis are the best modes of transport to reach here via Brooke Bond Road and NH948 or via Sengupta Street.Amusement Park: The amusement park has an Aquarium and a Zoological Garden with 106 mammals, over 300 birds and about 55 reptiles that draw not just animal or nature lovers but also students and researchers to observe the animals in a habitat as close to their original habitat. The amusement park also has a Jurassic Park with several models of Dinosaurs amidst well-maintained gardens.Childrens Play Area: The Childrenβs play area is fully equipped with Swings, See-Saw, and Slides. Theres enough seating arrangement for the parents to sit and keep a close eye on their children as they have fun in the play area. The garden also has a toy train which rides all around the park.Annual Events: Several Fairs and Exhibitions and Annual Celebrations are held at the location like the Independence Day and the Republic Day Celebrations.Snacks and Beverages: Stalls selling local snacks and beverages like tea, coffee, juices, cold drinks etc. can be found outside the park. Visitors are allowed to get the snacks inside as well.
Very cheap tickets. Few good species of birds. You can see bats hanging from trees. Toy train ride was short but good.
It was one of great place in Coimbatore.., I heard about even lions and tigers are there in this Zoo., Bt now Nose of animals were not there, they are trying to maintaining good bt visitors are throwing water bottle and plastic paper., Need some entertainment to the animals especially for jackals and monkey and parrots.
When I was in coimbatore , I just visited in sat.12 evening. With my friends Akhil, Aravind and Manoj. We liked this place .Some group of families , college students and village rural people also visiting this place. We need to take entry pass.Park is ok , but the zoo not good for watch .There are number if animals for watch. Some of the people taking photos.Monkeys , peacock , deers, cooks , snakes in spl gallery. There is a train and track for watching some areas before that , we need to take another ticket for ride in train .
Its a good place for 2 hours visit. As it is a zoo with limited animals such as crocodile, snakes, peacocks, dears etc go little early by 9:30 am so that you get rest of the day to explore.
Absolutely wonderful place to spend time with friends band family. 2 to 3 hrs we can spare here. Wild creatures and birds are available in the zoo and park is well maintained with aquarium and rest room.
Easy to locate on maps. Nice place to visit on weekends. Properly maintained. Entry fee is low. Train will take you two times in same route but believe it will be fine to feel relax. You need come out for board the train.Collection of snakes in the park is good.Even though there are very few animals and birds.
Located in a prime location, its a good outing spot for families and friends. Not any big or fancy zoo, but with lots of restaurants outside and a park beside, its a decent place for a get-together.
Nice place in the heart of the city to spend with friends and family. The place is not bad. some good variety of animals and birds to show kids. Plenty of restaurants and food stalls available around the zoo. Separate park for kids to play. Entry fee for both zoo and the park is very nominal. But place is very crowded during holidays other than that great place to visit in coimbatore.
Its a small zoo but good to visit. Saw one of the most beautiful peacocks and pelicans from very close distance. They are the main attractions as not many wild animals, apart from crocodiles, snakes & jackal. Place is full of bats hanging from trees above.
VOC park is the top of city coimbatore...Here we can spend with family and friends..Entry fees per head 12Rupees...Children we can Enjoying here... In this summer seasons Not proper maintaining bird and animals...VOC park huge Parking area Gooe... So many restaurants here..In evening walking area very crowded...Skating also here...MI
A small but neat zoo in coimbatore, not many wild animals but good collection of birds, deers etc. Best part is the Tickets are just Rs 9, which includes a mini train ride in the zoo, another good thing is that caretakers actually work.
A small zoo in the center of coimbatore.. Having few animals, snakes, fish, birds and many bats are hanging in trees.Good for an evening visit with family, for kids a park is there, small train journey into the deers park..Cost of the tickets are very cheap..
Its a good place ππAnd the tickets are so cheap only 3 rupees per person. but they need to improve a little because the name of the most animals are not mentioned . But still its best and its near the Coimbatore junction. U will be happy after all in this place .
The VOC zoos one of the well-known landmarks of Coimbatore. Its been there for a long time. It houses several beautiful species of birds and animals, too. But the premises and its set-up badly needs renovation.ANIMALS AND BIRDS: There arent many. No lion and tiger -- the usual star attractions in a zoo. There are, however, some magnificent birds like the Rosy Pelican (see photo). There are eagles, caged (thought they didnt have enough space to fly around). Snakes, especially the Indian Cobra and the pythons, gathered more audience.INFORMATION: The information boards arent there for all animals and birds.CLEANLINESS: Fine overall. But didnt use the toilets. So, not sure about that..TICKETS: Rs 15/per adult to visit the zoo and the park next to it.
Its a must visit for kids as they can see Peacocks, Deers, Monkeys, Crocodiles and snakes from a very close distance. The entrance fees is very nominal. Dont buy the train ticket if you dont have a kid along. Not Worth spending if its a adult only group. It also has a park next to it for a relaxing time.
Your will get your moneys worth at this place. They have a decent amount of animals in here for the money you pay. However, there is a tree with tons of bats hanging on it and so you can expect to see bat excretions around. The animal stalls are also not maintained well so it stinks. There is a "no feeding the animals" policy but no one enforces it inside - so people tend to feed the animals food from outside. Also, avoid the bathrooms at all cost. Be ready to haggle with the vendors when you get toys from outside the park. The tickets do not include the mini train ride - its an extra 3 rupees.Overall, just go there for just watching the animals.
