Urunga Boardwalk - Tourist attraction in Kempsey, Australia
Lovely bracing stroll to the beach with great views back up the estuary. Shorebirds on the way
Very popular attraction and extremely busy on weekends.
Lovely place. 1km in length. Got to see dolphins swimming close by. A tad narrow so people with accessibility issues may struggle with the width of the boardwalk.
The boardwalk is just over 1km long and provides great views of the entrance to the ocean, the lake and the vegetation. It finishes at the beach and is a great walk.
Cold, overcast afternoon but a spectacular walk on the boardwalk out to the heads and views of the wild coast. I recommend taking the time to visit and enjoy this historic and interesting place
Such a breathtaking spot. Definitely recommend. Beautiful walk
Yeah really good. Its a shame the swamp boardwalk is closed. The boardwalk takes you all the way out to Sawtell beach from the town centre.
This is a beautiful pet friendly activityBeautiful views 😍
A great boardwalk with the mangroves and local banksias growing on one side and the ocean on the other. It’s a pretty narrow boardwalk with only room for 2 people side by side. There’s fishing and fish cleaning facilities, BBQs and picnic tables and a dog bowl for dogs with a sad lot of memorial plaques for local dogs. The boardwalk is entirely disability accessible. Fairly popular so expect company.
Awesome view after some walk
Beautiful. Walked out to the end saw stingrays Roos pelicans and a python of some description in the trees next to the boardwalk. You can get on to the beach at the end of the boardwalk. It was nice and quiet when I was there. We liked it so much we went back to see the sunrise. Recommended:)
Easy walk. Spectacular view. Small fishes on the water.
An absolutely beautiful boardwalk through the mangroves and towards the beaches. Family and dog-friendly! We thoroughly enjoyed our walk there!
Very good and long board walk from wetlands into the beach
The planks are a little rough in small strollers, and the pier to the west had sections on 45 degree angles, but a fantastic little find. Spot the wallaby, kangaroo and crabs.
A great idea. Seats asking the way for those who are frail. When the sun is out it can be very hot as there is no shade. Takes you from the car park to the oceans asking the river. An interesting side walk about half way out. The board walk has subsided on one side making for an interesting walk
This board walk is great to see the fish and crabs in the wetland area. Do it at high tide and low tied to see the different sea creatures. Only down side is some sections are quite narrow and makes it hard to pass wheel chairs on the walk. Don’t think they gave that any thought when they designed it.
Lovely views, well worth the walk.
Great walk. Awesome little beach at the end with stick houses to investigate. Kids had a great time
Perfect swimming beach for younger kids. There’s a little jetty they can jump off with a short swim to a pontoon. The boardwalk is a beautiful kilometre walk with the inlet on the left and mangroves on the right ending at a stunning unspoilt beach
Gorgeous and exceptional place. Its a definite must see place. Unfortunately we got there in the middle of a storm and didnt have time to stay long enough.
Lovely walk, parking was scarce during peak period. Wear polaroid sunglasses to see the fish and crabs in the water. The driftwood shelters at the end (on the beachwere interesting.
We were so amazed by this boardwalk and it surrounding. Adjacent to the Reflections holiday park, a lot of families with kids and dogs were around playing with water, kayaking, swimming, fishing, sunbathing or jet skiing or boating. The walk itself is a brilliant idea to allow people the opportunity to appreciate breathtaking view without making it as easy for people to damage the wetlands and lagoon and mangrove areas. Didn’t count the steps but my guess is the walk is only a few hundred meters. But so definitely worth your time.
I was pleasantly surprised with this walk as I was just passing through quickly but it was definitely worth my time.No dogs allowed on the boardwalk. There are a few benches along to rest as well.
You won’t regret going over there. Just get there early morning, enjoy the view and Nature and its history. Cheers
A very nice day beautiful place. The main board walk is 981 meters long.
A very narrow and easy walk, there are places to stop and take in the scenery. You can also go fishing here as well. At the end of the board walk is a beach where you can go for a swim as well. Its a very quiet beach. The water is very clean and beautiful. There are local cafes around to grab a bite as well.
Turquoise water, mangroves and a beautiful beach at the end with driftwood house creations. A walk out suitable for a single stroller ( not a twin side by side ). It’s narrow so no bikes. Dogs allowed on a leash. Deviate to the side boardwalk to take a quiet moment to observe the bird life( without a dog).
An enjoyable boardwalk along Kalang River to the ocean mouth. Good to see small fish in the mangrove creeks. Great to have seats to enjoy the ambiance.
If you had vacation at Coffs Harbour, just add this place to your visit list. All along the walk you will see different moods experience, river and the other side town and mountain.Dont forget hat, sunglasses and sun screen, on beautiful day will be very busy especially with holiday season.
Beautiful place for a walk. The boardwalk is quite narrow, so not ideal for large prams. However there are lots of paved foreshore walks you can do, with a number of play areas for children and picnic tables at each spot.
Still one of my favourites! First time to walk here at sunrise, just stunning view! Even see some kangaroos in the bush:)
Enjoyed this board walk.. beautiful scenery, alot of mullets though...both in the water and out 🤭
Nice, scenic, refreshing boardwalk with fish and crabs all around. Really great spot for sunsets
This is a really cool board walk, we loved it. Also spotted a bunch of big lizards and snakes along the way. A great attraction to visit 😊
Highly recommended this Broadwalk. The journey is greater than the destination and is well worth the short walk to and from the end. Ample parking and toilets at the parking lot (the signs to turn into the parking lot say that its for the caravan park, but just drive into the public parking. Lots of people with picnics enjoying the sun. The first part of the Broadwalk is quite narrow and people need to angle to brush past each other, but it opens up later. It is very relaxing and picturesque.
Very special place to wake up at. The caravan park is excellent and the pub across the road has great food
Its a long (ishwalk but the views the entire way are breathtakingly beautiful!!
Even on a rainy day this place is worth checking out! Theres often stingrays and cool little fishes that you can notice from the boardwalk. Its about 2km in length so its a decent stroll. Parking is limited so if there are none, park near the Spar.
Nice and long boardwalk stretching up to 1.5km long.Wheelchair accessible.Fishing allowed, we saw legal size fishes swimming just underneath the boardwalk.People were also swimming and using a stand up paddle while following the direction of the boardwalk.Saw some tiny crabs too.Remember to slip slop and slap during the high uv index days, you can get a sunburn even if its not hot just like what happened to me.Free parking just at the start of the boardwalk. Picnic tables with shade and toilet facilities are there as well.
Lovely place. The boardwalk is quite long, make sure you take a bottle of water and a hat.Takes you to a nice beach at the end. Kids loved it
Free wooden boardwalk, out to the beach, and through mangroves. Lovely views all round. Approx 1.5km there and back. Saw lots of birds, crabs, hermit crabs, and people in boats or kayaks. Not too busy. Swimming spot at the start of the walk and parking very close by.
This Urunga boardwalk is a must of you are in and around Coffs harbor. It is a 45 mins - 1 hour affair and the views are wonderful if you can go during the sunset. You can spot many wallabies running around.
Fabulous and well worth a stop. The walk is beautifully done. We were there in low tide so saw plenty of baby fish.
The sun rose at 6.05 and was trying so hard to peep through the clouds. These photos took a long time in the making but the wait was definitely worth it! Simply stunning at sunrise and sunset, even on a frosty winter morning ;)
Pretty amazing place. Visited severalTimes. Great boardwalk. You can see different fishes swimming in the shallow clear water. Great place for a day out.
One of the best spots to visit in NSW. If you walk on the beach you wont need to visit an aquarium as it has a lot of fish, sometimes even dolphins and a great view.
The boardwalk is lovely at any time of day or month of the year. Great accessibility for any age bracket and a beautiful beach at the end.Recommend taking a long sleeve shirt or windbreaker if you tend to be cold in the wind - its strong at the end of the walk.
I love this walk. However, it’s currently impossible to keep 1.5m from others as the boardwalk is only about 1m wide so you are passing very close to lots of others on the walk. But the views are stunning at sunrise and sunset.
What a great, level walk with a beautiful view! We had strong winds but it almost added to the atmosphere and it was wonderful looking down into clear water to see some fish life.
