Poole Rd, Upton, Poole BH17 7BJ, Bournemouth
Wooded parkland set out in the early 19th century with kids' play trail, tea rooms and Segway tours.
Love walking here, big open space surrounded by trees, with walks thru both. A couple of bird hides are placed near the water so you can have a look at the birds in Poole Harbour. The children can just run amok, our grandchildren had a great time splashing in muddy puddles followed by a delicious hot chocolate and sausage roll in the little cafe on the grounds. There is water splash area which is open in the summer but it can get very busy
Dog friendly, wildlife hides, walks, good cafe and relatively cheap car park. Well worth a visit.
Love this place. Wide open areas as well as walks through the woods. New bird hide with plenty to see. Gardens are good viewing too
The construction of a new reception centre is in progress and it looks nice. The house is open only on two Sundays in Sep and Oct according to the opening hours leaflet on the door and we couldnt go inside. The garden is well maintained with sitting benches. A busy place for moms gathering when kids are engaged in the educational programs there.
Nice place for a country walk. Art exhibition was taking place when we visited which was a bonus. Tea room and good loos. Only issue was that parking doesnt use the normal dorset parking apps so cash or card only
If you enjoy visiting country houses then Upton is a must.Beautiful gardens. A wooden play area. Picnic area. Woodland walks. A cafe. Dog friendly (please clean up after your dog!)Large pay & display carpark.
Great day out lots of walks. Very dog friendly has inclosed dog walking areas so they can be let off the lead safely. Has a big park for the kids and a nice cafe and toilets.
Something for everyone, from big house, play areas and cafe to woods, moor and lakeside walks. Views across to Poole from shoreline. Very popular for dog walking, with an enclosed dog training area. Plenty of car parking.
Good walks around the park and gardens and continuing on around Poole Harbour; plenty of play facilities for children of all ages, cafe very good but limited choices for lunch. Will visit again when next in the area.
A beautiful Park that has so many things to do. Truly wonderful. I walk my dog here often.
Its a park, which again you have to pay for parking. Its OK for a nice walk or a picnic. Cafe again very expensive and coffee not that great.Dont know if you can walk around the house, as I dont like boring my children for my benefit. But maybe nice without children but have a long time until that happens- if ever! But a great place to have a huge family party, and to have arguments with people you dont like at the party! But overall very pleasant woodlands and OK for younger children on the swings and roundabouts. But my 10 year old was pretty bored after half an hour and my 11 year old girl, played for around 15 minutes.
A fantastic place for a walk. The lawns are open for picnics and kids to play. The tearoom and walled garden are lovely. The grounds behind the house are perfect for a walk into the Holes Bay nature reserve behind the park. Ideal for dog walks, and its surprisingly close to town.
Loads to do here, from the playgrounds for different ages, bird spotting, loads of walks, a arts and crafts centre, dog play areas. We didnt manage to do it all as it is so huge.Loads of parking which is paid for.A cafe and toilets are close by too.My only gripe was the map. So hard to read and figure out where you was going l.
Great place to visit for an afternoon stroll, with a board walk, small stream, and lovely views across to Poole - dog friendly. The kids loved the park area and water fountain too. Decent cafe and icecream kiosk (they had coconut icecream 🎉).
Lovely family friendly country park with beautiful surroundings, scenery and wildlife.
Great for walks, cycling & dogs, limited menu for food they could make a killing if offered breakfast baps & tea/coffee in proper mugs. But great views all round plus its safe for children to run wild
Beautiful. Lovely walks around the grounds with easy push chair access, plenty of shading areas to have a picnic. Car park reasonably priced. Really enjoyed it.
A lovely park. Visited after our weeks holiday. The childrens play parks are great & in the shade. Great coffee shop with lovely cakes & coffee 🍩🍪☕Definitely one to return to.
Beautiful country park with something for everyone. It was a very hot day and my daughter loved the fountain in the picturesque walled garden
Lovely walks, wish sign posts would state distance to areas. Great place for families to have fun, and a special area for dogs.
Lovely place to take the kids, loads of walking/running around space. Lovely new play park. Really nice to see it getting some renovations
A wonderful oasis of calm, just a few 100 yards from the A34A nice tea garden. Ample (to pay forparking and miles of grassy walks
An old country house and estate which is now mainly a park with various environments that overlook Poole harbour. Theres a walled garden and childrens play area and of course a decent cafe with great cake. Good wildlife spotting opportunities.
The park is really well equipped with all sorts of things for children and adults to do. We enjoyed the playground, nature trail and the lookout point over the lake seeing the different birds. A tiny bird landed on our picnic table!
Great place for all the family and dogs.Cycling routes, great for running. Designated off lead areas fir dogs snd a enclosed area for dogs off lead. A tea room thats very reasonably priced with art gallery too.Parking is good with Contactless card payment or cash, not by phone or app and priced OK.A dog washing area is in the top car park that dies was, rinse and dry for £4.Large areas to walk. Lovely walled garden. And a great bird hide with viewing area. Take binoculars.Excellent paths all well marked too.Our first visit, but will be back for sure.
Great cafe but uninspiring gardens. Highlight was a fabulous bird hide overlooking Poole estuary. Kids loved the walled garden sprinklers. House open when volunteers are available, ordinarilly sundays.
This park is amazing!!There is so much to do, a lovely tearoom where the robins and blackbirds come to feed on the patio.Wonderful walks through woodland and shoreline. We were so pleased to find this this magical park whilst we were away on holiday. We visited it many times with Molly our dog, she loved it! The dog walkers are so friendly around the park.Thank you for keeping this parkland open to the public!
Lovely day out with family. Several different areas to explore. Sometimes there are craft stalls inside the house or similar events going on. Plenty of space for children to play and run including a playground area. A cafe and an art exhibition upstairs the day we visited. Wooded area walk. Such a variation of space. From woods to lawns and rose garden. Water spray area that the children just loved to run in and out of. Plenty of parking, use to be free but now there is a charge.
Great for walks and family time.
More outside space than you can handle, cafe with a small selection of food and drinks. Pottery painting section which the kids love. Shame the pottery isnt made in the UK though, it is bought in from... China!Play areas upon play areas! Nice cycle routes which link up to the Caslteman trailway.
Stunning park. Free to the public. Paid parking was required cash and card accepted. We visited on a rainy day but wasnt disappointed at all, the smells and views were beautiful. There was an adventure play area for children and even a dog washing station in the car park. There is a coffee shop too.
Brilliant place for us to hold our daughters 12th birthday party. She wanted an obstacle course and the front field was perfect.
Such a lovely place to visit. They have made changes over the years. Though some dont like them, I personally think they have allowed for more space and greater access to all. The only think I am not a massive fan of is the paths around the water areas have been changed. No more troll bridge which is a shame as a much loved family adventure trip, trapping over. However, if the reason is to make it more accessible then I completely understand and all for the change.
We love a walk round here and the kids. The childrens climbing play area is great too. And the cafe is there when you need a break. Parking cheap too. Always a good day out... even in the rain (as our last visit was!)
No entry fee just have to pay to park. We only did 2 hours, £3, but you need more. Good play areas for the kids. Lots of wide open spaces to walk and cycle.
Great place to go with kids, lots of spots to wear them out. Small play area for little uns and bigger area. Theres a nice walk to take your dog and little clearings in the forest to find other climbing equipment and tree swings. The cafe runs little pottery painting sessions and the car park is fairly cheap. Nice walk round the grounds and gardens too
Lots of green space for people to explore. Some wood type play equipment recently renovated for kids of all ages. Just pay to park you dont pay to get in. Several short paths to have a walk about including a board walk where you can see out to sea
First time visitor and really impressed. So many different habitats in one place, loads of trails to explore, a great play area and very dog friendly.
What a lovely peaceful well looked after area. Plenty of parking, bathrooms and a place for refreshments with even a dog wash, would never normally use one but we had to by the end of our visit 🤦♀️.You can tell that it is a well loved and by the looks of it there is more to come. Great paths leading into different areas, these allow you to choose how long or short a walk you want. The areas for dog on/off lead are clearly marked out and the park also offered two dog training areas that are totally secure so if you are not confident letting your dog off lead these could be really useful for you.The pooch loved the little steam dip area is great for kids, adults and dogs to cool your feet or paws.Great place, will definately visit again and reccomend.
Its beautiful good for kids and dogs 🐕 there is good birdwatching a great cafe lovely day out for all the family 👪
Perfect place , long or short walks, all very pretty and scenic. Two wooden areas for the Children, toilets on site, cafe on site and icecream.Small art gallery, people inside were lovely as was the art. A Pottery painting studio, we didnt use this but looked good from the outside. The large carpark with it only being £6 for all day was reasonably priced, made it easy to park and didnt seem busy at all especially for a hot summer Saturday! The ground are kept it great condition, had a very pleasant experience here.
We are very lucky to have such a beautiful park like this right on our door step. The gardens are very well kept, the view is amazing, the play areas are fantastic (for the kidsand today we did the Easter Egg challenge which got a kids super excited. The shop has an exquisite courtyard which makes a cream tea feel special. There other smaller kiosks dotted around selling Ice-cream and drinks.Parking is plentiful with easy access. Although it is paid parking it is not to expensive.
Upton House is a Georgian Grade11 listed building, built on land acquired by William Spurrier and constructed by his son Christopher from 1816 to 1818. In 1825 a West Wing was added extending the property and its useage. Upton Country Park consists of 130 acres of parkland with a shoreline overlooking Poole Harbour. The park itself consists of a 2.2 mile loop which seemed fairly accessible to me and with superb views, makes a perfect day out for families.A formal garden, a walled garden, Tea Rooms and a Plant Centre give some idea of what is available to visitors. Upton House itself is available for weddings and private hire. Parking, in 2021, was relatively cheap at £2.70 for 3 hours.
Amazing place to visit. Loved every minute. So much to see. Lots for children. Beautiful lakes fantastic aray of wild birds. Fab for bird watchers
We are so lucky to have a gate leading directly into this beautiful park from our back garden. We have spent 40 years now coming here as a young couple in love, then as parents and now every day to walk our dog together. The park is lovely to bring a picnic to enjoy it’s free so it’s a wonderful healthy day out. Children love this place it’s very and interesting for all age groups. It’s also peaceful to sit and chatter. Many events are held here too. Many specimen trees to admire with lots of varied wildlife. We can’t think of anywhere better to be than this park. Especially because it’s free for everyone to enjoy. If you bring a car there’s a low parking cost. But that cash helps towards maintaining the car park, toilets etc. I find that very fair indeed.
We had a lovely walk around Upton Country Park. We only spent an hour so we didnt get to see to much especially as we got distracted in the play park by the swing. The car park is pay and display, plenty of spaces. The tea room is open for takeaway, its one in, one out but the queue was moving very slowly so we didnt manage to get a hot drink.
Upton Country Park has a lovely play area but also lots of grounds to explore with the little ones. I live taking my boys there, some days to just go to play area and others to take a walk to "have an adventure". The tea rooms are lovely as well, not fully ope at the moment but do do takeaway drinks.
Great place to visit with the family. The park is welcome to all and there are specific areas where people can take dogs if out for a walk. Newish play area for kids is good fun as ours love it. Great for walking in muddy puddles so bring your wellies in the winter months for definite. All in all good and I would highly recommend. Parking isnt free but is reasonable. Parking also accepts cards so no need to worry about change being needed.
A great open space, perfect for a walk and very popular with dog walkers - plenty of paths around the park, which are well maintained and easy underfoot, with plenty to see including green countryside, the walled garden and views across Poole Harbour. Theres also a childrens adventure playground, which is new, plus odd things along some of the paths to climb on. The car park has a small charge, there are public roads on the outskirts of the park where you can park for nothing and walk in, but a couple of pounds towards the upkeep of this beautiful place is very fair. The cafe is handy too, perfect for a refreshment break after your walk.
A remarkably calming natural environment of woodland walks, open vistas, nature trails and water features. Something for everyone on solid gravel trails open to walkers, cyclists, dog friendly and families. The views lead across natural wildlife habitat over Holes bay with mud flats, natural grasses attracted birds and other wildlife. Several viewing spots enable observation. The grounds have a walled garden of colourful flowers and shrubbery, and an enclosed green near the cafe with refreshments and toilets.
