🐾DOG FRIENDLY & FABULOUS 🐾Upper House is our favourite place to Brunch, Sunday roast and hang out on a school night! They have a great pub quiz every Wednesday where they offer a delicious burger meal which includes fries and an alcoholic drink for a tenner and their weekend bottomless brunches are 👌🏽The staff are friendly and welcoming to all hooman & furbabies 🍼🐶
Recently hired The Ballroom for my Birthday Party. We all had the best time! The service and the staff were amazing leading up to and during the party. Will definitely be coming back and would definitely recommend.
Great for private parties. Was celebrating a friends birthday in the top room which had its own bar and enough room for a boogie. Great choice of drinks. The main bar on the ground level had a DJ and is very spacious. I will definitely return.
Went for the £30 bottomless brunch. Really good value for money and the staff were kind and attentive when it came to refilling our drinks. Definitely got our money’s worth 👌🏼
We recently hired The Ballroom at Upper House for a corporate leaving party on a Friday evening. The venue was perfect - intimate and buzzy at the bar but with enough tables and seating to be able to network too. The food was delicious, and praised by many guests. All of the staff were extremely helpful throughout the entire process from my initial enquiry until the end of the night. Thank you for having us, will definitely recommend to colleagues.
It was a bit messy this whole experience.. No coffee available for brunch.. Late service of food.. Orders didnt come like sides.. Poor choices of desserts.. Like no chocolaty ones. And at the end when we split the bill.. 66p was missing and we wanted to deduct it from the service charge of 12.5% they didnt want. Well. The food was OK like 3/5 but overall experience not amazing.
The food was really good, we went for the bottomless brunch and I ordered the fry-up. What wasn’t good was the service, the staff were friendly but our sides took forever. My side came when I had finished my main which isn’t great at all and my friend’s side took ages and when it did come there was 2 of it. They were also redecorating the place with Christmas decorations everywhere but they still opened for service.
Came for bottomless brunch and had a great time! Service was great and prompt (we came for the last slot at 3pm). The food was excellent - I had the sweet potato hash stack. Everything was great value as well - will come back!
After a quick viewing I booked the Ballroom for my 30th on a Saturday night. The night was brilliant - staff in the run up to the event were great, I had several requests and they helped suggest plans for the night. Food, music and drinks were great - especially the cocktails for a private bar. a huge thank you to management and the staff on the day, everyone was helpful and made the night brilliant!
A really relaxed and cosy environment, the staff is very friendly and welcoming. They also have an amazing happy hour, a d it is on also on Saturday , which us very rare! The atmosphere is nice and late in the evening there is a DJ as well.We also had food and portions were really generous! An absolute YES!
Definitely would recommend going here for a quick bite or a meal with a friend, even by yourself. The staff was very polite and attentive. The building really opens up when your inside, it has two floors with a historic look to it. The food was absolutely lovely couldnt fault it, I got the (Waffales with Chicken). I had such a great time, enjoyed the welcoming people and the music in the back playing that livened up atmosphere and a few people. The only issue was where I was sitting, the table for two by the stairs leading upstairs. The table was wobbling back and forth, think one of the legs was sort, so i had to use my leg to balance the table, wast a issue but did get a bit annoying. The problem with the table sure doesnt affect my review.
We hired the Ballroom pretty last minute for our offices summer party. Nadine was great at helping me organise it and explaining everything to me. They were very flexible with our various dietary requirements and also with how we paid for the event, they were able to adjust to suit our processes which meant that we were actually able to go ahead with the event.I had been worried the food might not be enough for everyone but it definitely was, everybody also thought the food was delicious. The staff on the night were very helpful and went out of their way to make sure our night went well and everyone had fun and this was definitely noticed and appreciated amongst staff.Everybody said they had an amazing time and they loved the venue and food, I cant recommend this venue enough.
The only had diet drinks to use as a mixer. My party and I was Very disappointed by this. We had a private room upstairs with a private bar. It was very nice. For started I had duck salad but it was very dry.If your ok with diet drinks then the bar/club. Down stairs isnt to bad.
Lovely atmosphere and friendly staff. We came for drinks with a group of friends and the music was a good level for talking to around 10pm at which point there was a great dancefloor. Not loads of space but not overcrowded for a Friday night which worked well.
I came to The Dead Dolls House with 11 friends, and Im more than impressed. We were seated straight away, our drinks arrived promptly and service was great. Staff were considerate and friendly and everyone enjoyed their Sunday roast. Compliments to the chef! Will definitely return. I highly reccomend this trendy restaurant and bar to students like myself looking for a fun/chill evening out.
A very interesting place, with a bit of a dark decor. It is kinda unique! That particular day we were with a friend in a place near by, we had some horrible cocktails and we were quite disappointed. And then we thought that this place looked interested, and we went in. We were a bit sceptical... But then we ordered mojito and this amazing dead rum punch (photo is added). The bartender is AMAZING, he was so focused, so perfectionist. He was not just making drinks, he was making art! He was adding different drops of different liquids, those are not your typical cocktails, those are next level! I am amazed! I am gonna go back just to watch him! Really it is worth to go only for the cocktails! Its an experience! I have told about that place to all my friends and acquaintances! Just go and you will love it! Try the dead rum punch!
I booked the drawing room for a 30th birthday 3 course dinner and was a bit disappointed. It was for 24 people so between us we spent a pretty penny. With that in mind it was disappointed to be presented with (amongst 2 other things..some cut up beetroot balls for a starter, and the pudding wasn’t great with 2 tiny blocks of quite stale brownie..For £39.20 a head with no booze included it wasn’t the meal to shout about I did expect more by the description on the menu. I found the staff helpful on setting up but the ones attending dinner seemed to be rushing us by taking away plates before we’d finished. There was no WiFi or help to get a connection to play some music and the price of a basic house wine was very expensive.Overall- couldn’t help but feel we’d been fobbed off a bit as not a wedding reception. It was a good room for what we needed but disappointed with food and overall attentiveness.
Quirky venue in Islington. Loads of function rooms so great for a larger event. Food was decent. Service was polite but often slow. Drinks a little on the pricey side. Very trendy, if you feel out of place amongst hipsters this is probably not the place for you. If thats your vibe, youll love it.
Great venue, we had our Xmas party here and they looked after us perfectly. The food was superb with great comments from our staff and guests. The quirky decor works very well and helps you feel relaxed and welcome.
Went here for a birthday brunch with a friend; she’d booked the Time Out deal (£25 for unlimited food and drink, within a 90 minute periodwhich we thought was pretty good value. It would’ve been great, because the food was decent quality and the mimosas not too watered down. But the service was so bad that not only did we not really get to take advantage of the deal, it kind of spoilt our brunch too. The waiter was friendly enough but we barely saw him - at one point we were sat there trying to catch someone’s eye for 30 minutes (I’m not even exaggerating). Luckily we knew it was going to be our last order, and someone came over 5 minutes before our 90 minutes was up, but it was pretty frustrating. They also then told us they’d need the table back by 3pm (we’d sat down at 12:30pm, which illustrates how slow the service was), which I thought was pretty cheeky; we’d have been out in the 1.5 hours if they’d paid any attention. I know places are pretty chronically understaffed these days, and it’s not always the waiting staff’s fault, but as we sat there trying to flag someone down, we watched them continuously serve the table right opposite the till (we were tucked down the back; go figureand mill about chatting amongst themselves. 3-4 stars for the food but I’ve knocked a bit off because of the service.
We came here for Christmas dinner. They were full and the food was really bad. It wasnt seasoned, just lazily presented and barely edible. We had potatoes that were hard and cold, vegetables that tasted sweet and gravy with no taste at all. Amongst starters the only good thing was the bread and dessert was a mousse made out of powdered chocolate. You can fit the entire company yes, but if you find a better place for the same price take it.Also the wine tasted like colored water, dont come here. I like trains.EDIT: they got in contact with my company about my review which is honestly kinda creepy and now I have to explain myself to one of my managers jeeh thanks. The DJ after dinner was good though
A strange place with a good vibe and good drinks.Me and a friend came first time with an unlimited buns deal. The portions are generous and most flavours were really nice. Very surprised how good the tofu was. Chicken was ok.Staff are friendly and place is mostly comfy.Good music and decor.Thumbs up to visit if you are nearby :)
Bad brunch experience here today. The whole place smelt like it had been washed out with bleach after Friday night. We were seated for 45 minutes before our first drink arrived, and we had to ask for it 3 times. The food was delicious but luke warm. But the worst bit was the water carafe which obviously hadnt been washed since being used for prosecco, the water tasted disgusting. Also the acoustics on the ground floor were terrible, we were next to another large group and couldnt hear our own conversation. We got out as quickly as possible.
My eldest son had his wedding reception here. The food was excellent and plentiful. Service professional, timely and friendly. The room was beautifully decorated and a fantastic time was had by all. Just be aware that converted town houses have steep stairs!
I went for bottomless brunch. The service was very poor -The staff were very nice but disorganised. We had to wait 30mins for our drinks which was a jug of bucks fizz and two teas. We asked 3 times where the drinks were, they were very apologetic, but still didnt seem to make a difference. When they finally took our order, when the food came (a variety of small plateswrong plates were brought continuously. The rest of the bar wasnt even that busy. The food was good but not outstanding.
I hosted an event here, and although it went well and was well received. The only saving grace of this venue was the helpful staff and the food (finger sandwicheswere good. One staff member in particular his name escapes me, it started with a "T". Every tablecloth I received was dirty or stained. I recommend that they either buy new ones or a better detergent. Then, I checked the table settings and noticed I received a tea cup that was disgusting so again Mr.T sent that back and got a clean one. When sourcing extra glasses that were left in the room those were dirty. This venue looks like its been through a lot. Mismatch paint and dirty dishes. There needs to be better attention to detail.
We put my wedding dinner in their hands and they were absolutely incredible. Service was quick, accurate, and delicious. Could have literally no complaints. The house is also beautifully decorated. Really stylish and looks great in photos.100% would recommend.
We hosted our engagement party here in The Library and everything was perfect. The room was the perfect size for our drinks and our bartender Nadine was excellent! She was very personable, made great drinks and nothing was too much of an ask. Emily was so helpful with the entire booking process from start to finish. We had great communication from her throughout. The door staff were also great, they were friendly and we had no issues at all with our guests getting in. Would definitely recommend this space for a private event!
We had our wedding reception here and it was the perfect venue for us! The staff were attentive, helpful and friendly throughout the planning process and on the day itself. The Ballroom was perfectly presented and everything ran smoothly. Would very much recommend for a London venue! Really loved having our day here. Thanks so much!
Went in for Bottomless Brunch and it was well worth it, you get small plates of food from a select menu along with bottomless Bloody Marys or Mimosas. We had good service for right away but it was not busy, the chicken and waffles was tasty and my husband commented on how well everything was cooked. The last 30 min our service was lacking but I think they were doing a shift change as our server changed but they gladly gave us another round of mimosas and let us stay around while our meal settled. We heard some not so nice stories about their service but I have to say our experience was really good and we will go back.
I booked the Drawing Room for a private party, the team from start to finish were great. Booking the room was easy and Emily was super helpful. The team on the night were great, there when we needed them. I couldnt have asked for a better night (well a bit cooler would have been nice!). I would definitely recommend for a special occasion.
A friend and I had our birthday party at the Drawing Room and it couldnt have gone better - the venue management was extremely friendly and accommodating throughout the entire organisational process, as well as on the actual night itself. All of our requests were met without any problems, staff at the door and behind the bar were very friendly and competent as well. We will definitely be returning to this venue, we had a great night!
Usually a big fan, the weekend brunch is amazing but the wings on a Wednesday need some attention. Though we had booked, the service was slow as they said they had a wedding tasting on but we had booked, they knew we were coming. The flavour of the wings needed much more depth and they need a greater range of flavours. I would try other places first but the happy hour(swith cocktails did make the wait bearable
I attended a party here in the room on the top floor. Having a peek in as we went up, the whole building is beautifully decorated and Id love to have a proper look around. The room we were in was wonderful, as were the staff and the food which we were served. It came out as a sharing feast which was perfect, and there was plenty to go around. Delicious cocktails too.
SUCH a good happy hour, 5 - 10pm on a Friday night on all cocktails and they were pretty tasty. The place had a great atmosphere, transitioning from restaurant to bar to more of a dancing venue from 12/1am-ish.
AVOID THIS PLACE! Absolute worse place I have ever reviewed or eaten at period. PLASTIC in one burger. Other two burgers burnt. Bread stiff like it has been microwaved. The other dish was cold and when we told the waiter they said kitchen has closed, would not even heat it up. No table service for drinks when you book a table. TOILET PAPER NEXT TO OUR TABLE. 3 of our starters never arrived. Waiter left without taking 2 peoples orders and had to be chased.... Should I go on? Dreadful.
Nice place to hang out. There are some private rooms upstairs as well.
Although friendly staff and delicious food this place was a disaster. It looks aesthetically pleasing and the bar area is nice but that is about it. We experienced really bad service right from the beginning. I had reserved a table for four guests for dinner a few weeks beforehand we sat ourselves at a very dirty table (no table was reserved for our bookingthat had no cutlery and no menus. We had to ask for the table to be cleaned and to be handed menus just so that we could order food (restaurant? I think not). The food was great but charging £11 for cold salmon and a few pink peppercornthrown on top is a bit preposterous. I simply wont be coming back here again.
Friendly service. Comfortable environment. Brunch was filling and very very very tasty.
Perfect for a weekend brunch with friends. Good atmosphere, amazing location and attentive staff. Best bloody marys Ive had in a while. Special shout out to Emma who has great energy and kept us topped up. Well be back!
Had a great time here. Ordered the waffle burger expecting something novel only to be brought the love of my life. The group on the table next to me ordered some sort of salad bowl that was also quite eye-catching.Also had a couple of drinks and would recommend the vodka espresso martini or the passion fruit cooler. All in all a great spot, with friendly staff and delicious food. I had mentioned that it would be great to have a side salad option and was told the menu may change soon so Id recommend visiting before and after the menu change to not miss this dining experience.
Bad service for a bottomless brunch. We had a large group and they barely came over during the the course of 2 hours. We were ignored for the first 20 minutes. The food is good. There was one good waiter who was good but the majority were dismissive. The food was great but I wont come back for a bottomless brunch. Good waiter is in the attached photo
The ambience is nice but pretentious, and I had the blandest meal of my life since I last ate at an elementary school cafeteria. Even if I didnt pay for the meal (Christmas partyit was terrible and I am definitely not coming back here. Id recommend to steer clear of this place, at the very least for food. Portions were TINY too, se assumed they were starters. After dinner the place turned into a dancing club and it was fun, the DJ was OK as well. I think they could improve the selection of drinks and spirits at the bar, but its still passable.
We had christmas party there. Its a great place, really nice staff, but not a great selection of beer. We were at the top floor.
Couldnt rate this restaurant/bar enough. The food was excellent, if you are carnivorous or vegetarian they cater for all your needs. The ambience was cozy and kitsch and the service was impeccable. Angela tended to all our questions and requirements. Definitely worth a visit. I will definitely be returning 😁
A great little bar. Excellent staff and service. Really well made cocktail. Comfortable seating. Would definitely come back again some time time. Parking was easy and Ive also got a taxi from here without any trouble at all.
Nice spot, friendly staff & simple but tasty food that is well presented.Their Bottomless brunch drink options are limited..the bloody Marys are drinkable (& spicybut their sparking wine was flat & their Mimosas were weak.Nice decor as you enter but otherwise sparsely decorated. Nice spot for a group that brings its own warmth & character
This place is an absolute gem. I had brunch here a couple of weekends ago and am still thinking about the food. Its a beautiful restaurant with great background music. It was the perfect way to spend a couple of hours. The lady that served me was fantastic. Really attentive and knowledgeable. The food was deeeeeeeeeeelicious.
I thought best to write a review as we almost didnt go here because it has quite mixed reviews. We did the bottomless brunch for £20pp and it was definitely good value for money. Quick, polite contact via email with the restaurant whilst booking, friendly staff, cool decor inside. The offer meant you could pick one main and a side and one bottomless cocktail for £20. I saw past reviews saying the food was average - the food is actually really good. The chicken and waffles was amazing as well as the fish burger; I got two patties of fish in a bun when they could easily give me one. Mushy peas were terrible however but tartar sauce was good. Almost had a hiccup at the end when we started to be ignored when we were half an hour before our 2 hours were up, and our glasses were clearly empty. My friend went up to the bar as we had been waiting 10 mins and the waiter said Ill just check...Ill just check what exactly..we then caught another waiter who gave us not one but two more bottles of mimosa and we were allowed to stay after our 2 hours, so he saved it! Would recommend!
I recently threw my wife a baby shower in the drawing room and it went really well. Emily was really helpful during planning, and everything was prepared as discussed before. The bartender we had dedicated to the room was a star. She was super helpful and readily avalable to take orders. The food was amazing, we mostly enjoyed the chicken and waffles. Prices are reasonable and location is convenient as well.Parking was available down the road, and street parking on the side roads after 1:30pm.Will return just for the food!
