I love the George but hate the umpteen noisy TVs it now has. It was always a pub with great music and conversation and now you cant hear yourself think for loud, competing sports programmes. Please make the George the great rock music pub it used to be!

Used to go in in the 60s. Now go in in the 2000s.

The upper George, probably theost well known pub in Halifax for rock fans - still got its vibe and still worth a visit

Best place in my life. I was a French assistant in 1969. Still remember the girls. I returned several times. Fantastic people still live there and go to that pub!

Good traditional ales. Place never seems to have changed. Has real character.

Went for 1 drink with mates Went on day they have bands playing was great atmosphere good prices. Stayed alot longer then one drink.

Appears to be more of mans pub but dont be put off by this. Everyone is so friendly and chatty. Quite a range of different beers available. Go see for yourself

As good as I remember from several years ago. Excellent staff and great beer.

Traditional town centre pub. Decent selection of draft beers and a few casks. Pool table, TV s showing sports, plenty of seating. One of the few remaining unchanged pubs in the town centre. Well worth a look.

Absolutely shocking and management is ridiculous, I think his name was Chris absoulty no people skills whatsoever. He really needs gone I will be writing to Green King themselfs. He should not be in charge all the bar staff were in agreement they dont want to work for him.

If you wanna have a few drinks and a game of pool but only have a tenner, this is the place for you.

Traditional bar with a good selection of beers in a friendly atmosphere.Theres bar games, Sport on TV and music that isnt too loud. A cosy place to chat, catch up and plot.

Always been the best place since I was in my 20s.Went back to HX to show my son around.Loads of memories loads of fun.

Refused entry with my 16yr old daughter! She was only planning on having a coke with me after wed traveled 260 miles to visit my old haunts. Funny your headline on the website is "great for family and friends". Outrageous. Avoid.

A traditional pub in the centre of Halifax. Friendly bar staff. Clean toilets. Outside seating area. Sports on the television and Juke box. Its been going a long time so they are definitely doing something right.

As I was out on a bit of a mission with my 71yr old neighbour visiting all her old haunts, we only stayed for one - but staff were pleasant, beer was great and the tables were clean!! Will definitely be back and hopefully give that 5th star!!

Cool hang out for us ageing Rockers and young townies. Pleasant staff. Great selection of good Beers. If you havent already then go and have a well earned tipple.

The George are renowned for live music and for having the bands outside. I have been there many times and although they are not a big place they make the best with what they have. If you go to Halifax check it out if you can find it!

One of the best places to relax with a pint in Halifax. Staff are excellent and accommodating. Regulars are generally a good bunch. Loads of outdoor seating. Condition of toilets varies but won’t mark it down for that… I’ll be drinking there for years to come.

This pub is an amazing! Great atmosphere and great staff. Very friendly and you can have a good laugh with them, even if they are busy. Cheap drinks as a bonus. Always looked after. Thanks to Lee and the team

Always a great atmosphere here, cheap beer great music if youre into rock and its great to sit outside if its sunny.

Visited whilst delivering beer, the manager was brilliant, thank you, his little dog Lola was very welcoming too lovely little dog! If I lived locally I would definitely be going to visit, the GIN menu looks fab, well worth a visit.

The Upper George is a warm and interesting pub withvery competent staff and an excellent jukebox. Drinks prices are quite reasonable and there are special offers on hand pulled beers and specified drinks on Mondays and on specified sports days!

Years since I was in here last but I thought I would educate my son!Didnt know which beer to have but was given a taster of one by the pleasant bar maid.When I said I wasnt keen on it she offered to let me try another but also recommended a beer.Her choice was spot on.Was the end of the night do only stayed for one before last orders.My son was impressed and we will both be back to this traditional, well run pub.Keep up the good work Upper George.

A bit of a hidden gem. I always thought it would be like some of the other rough town centre pubs but I had it all wrong and it was recommended to me by a colleague who is a regular. The crowd in there is much more welcoming than expected. Staff are friendly and they had 3-4 decent ales on. I stopped by in the hope of catching an England match during the World Cup without the place being packed and it was spot on. 3-4 TVs showing the match but laid back atmosphere. Would definitely stop by again in future.

Been coming to this place for over 30 years and not much has changed. A great atmoshere with good drink selection and awesome music. Would recommend a visit for a traditional night out. As there it not many of these gems left.

Great friendly hidden gem of a place. Good old fashioned rock pub. Very friendly Staff and atmosphere.Great rock juke box. Live bands just drinks(so no waiting for coffees and foodies and no children. Like I said great old fashioned boozer.
