We visited Pumpkin Inferno 🎃 located at Upper Canada Village with our friends and kids in October 2022 and all the experience was amazing. Magical installations, beautiful works of art, nice music and fotoshoot zones was very inspiring and brought us the spirit of fairy tale and HALLOWEEN 👻 🎃 Recommend to anyone ✨️
Dinner reservations on site is a great way to see behind the scenes and skip the long lines of Pumpkin Inferno at Upper Canada Village. A year tradition with our family.
One of our favourite places! In the summer, Christmas time, Halloween is all different and beautiful in its own way! So much fun for kids and us, parents also. I highly recommend this wonderful place for any holiday really. And it’s definitely worth the money, in my opinion (some places charge much more than they can actually offer, but in Upper Canada village we always get even more, in terms of experience and joy❤️
Dinner at Willards was very good as usual and staff/servers did a good job and very friendly. Pumpkinfurno was fantastic.
I visited upper Canada village for the pumpkin inferno event for Halloween. We bought are tickets online and once there, the check-in process was quick. We waited a few minutes in line then we were in the attraction. Its was pretty cool to see!!
Came here to see pumpkin inferno for the first time.It was really well done and awesome visit.I woshed i had the time to have gone during the day to see the village for its historical nature. The event was well organized. The staffs were super friendly and helpful.
The seasons is over and now offer tour guides.A must see during the open season. We really liked our 90 minutes with our guide.Lots of pictures..Thank you..
Wonderful experience for all ages! Knowledgeable "recreationists" (if there is such a word 😜 ). Kids loved the boat ride, as well as the horse and buggy ride around the village. While we were there, there was a magician at the fair grounds, as well as authentic food and goods. Highly recommended!
Went to view the RCMP Horse Show but ended up doing a circuit of the displays. Both were excellent.
Really impressed with this place. Horse drawn carriage going throughout. Lots of walking and lots to see. Beautifully restored homes and businesses. Knowledgeable and friendly staff were happy to take the time to chat. Great place for couples, families, and kids.
Loved this place, showcase of urban and historic lifestyle. Perfect expérience for children who grownedup in the mordenised world. Kids would love the farm animals and hourse cart ride as well as boat ride....which is absolutely free with the tickets.
It was a lot of fun. It is big, definitely plan at least half a day for a visit.
My family and I love Upper Canada Village. It is an educational, and family friendly experience. It brings "pre confederate Canadian history" to life. Go early in the season to enjoy the baby animals or late in the season for beautiful gardens. There are lots of ramps for accessibility, benches for breaks and bathrooms. The staff are very friendly and wonderful teachers.
Beautiful site with a stunning view if the st-laurence river. Lots of historically accurate houses with actors/staff with real know how of lost trades.
Plenty of things to see and experience though staff numbers were minimal as far as the number of explanations available.Willard Motel provided a good period 1860 type meals.
Twenty years ago, visiting Upper Canada Village 🇨🇦 was a brilliant, magical experience. Unfortunately, I was not impressed by the visit July 2022. The place looked deserted. It is under-staffed, and you dont get the authentic feeling of living in the past. The place needs to be taken care of. The inside of the buildings needs to be renovated and cleaned from dust. This is an important part of the Canadian Heritage and some funds need to be invested into this project to keep it alive.I liked the show and the performance.
Beautiful place with lot of knowledge for kids(rice mill, wood cutting, hydro energy etcand full of fun - boat ride and horse ride. I love the family place where we all played the ancient games that were displayed. We got to show the kids milking a cow too. The place is beautiful and has a good place to eat too.It was bit too hot , wish the boat was covered.
Loved the place. I really enjoyed my visit and all the characters were so interesting, friendly and passionate about what they do. I learnt a lot in my visit and enjoyed it very much. Was lovely chatting to everyone as a walked around. Amazing to watch the baking and cheese making. I had lunch at the hotel and the smell of the food was amazing from the moment I walked in. Really great value for money. Certainly worth a visit. So glad I went there. Highly recommend visiting here.
So. so interesting showing life in the 1860s. A key part of the experience is the authentic buildings that make up the village, the activities that take place throughout the site, and the historic interpreters that bring history to life. (Taken from the website!)Upper Canada Village is a great stop for kids and adults!! So many exhibits to see and learn from. A must see if in the area!!
What a wonderful visit I had. I have been here many times over the years but this last visit was my favourite. Engaged in many long conversations with the various millers, smiths, etc... I felt I learned a lot more this time around. My kids were also very engaged and asking questions of the staff. Highly recommended!
Spent a wonderful journey as a first time experience in an interactive historical site. You the feeling of time traveling. Great place to bring the family.
One of the most beautiful and incredible places Ive ever been in Ontario. Certainly a place everyone should schedule a day or an afternoon and visit!
We visited on a Friday and got there about 10:15 and it was not crowded. We bought our tickets online and got in quickly. We enjoyed seeing the sawmill and flour mill in action. We loved seeing the different buildings and the blacksmith’s demonstration. The people dressed in clothing from the 1800s added a lot to the experience. Everyone of the workers was friendly and told us “ good morning” and did a great job of staying in character. We took our time walking through the village. We saw the beautiful garden, the tow scow , the horses and wagons and more. We went in the gift shop but I feel there needs to be more variety of small souveniers to purchase. It was a great experience and we loved seeing all the historical buildings. We did use the map that was in the brochure we got upon check in to make sure we didn’t miss anything. I recommend purchasing tickets online.
We love the Village! It is our happy place. My kids love going and love chatting with the staff about interesting historical facts. They love the boat ride, horse drawn carriage rides, the train, touring the houses, especially the schoolhouse and the mill. We love the lookout tower, the stone house and the just being by the river. Highly recommend!
It was a nice place to visit. One nice lady thought I was a statue while sitting on the fence before the bridge. I really freaked her out when I moved.. pretty sure she thought I was a performance artist. Come for the bread.
We love Upper Canada Village. The season pass is well worth it and includes unlimited train rides, visits to the village, parkway beach access, and more. Each time we visit, we talk with different trades people about their work at the village and learn new things about the trades and living in the 1800s.
Good historic journey.Food: There are three options1Village Cafe - located near the entrance, small cafe with some fresh pastries and lemonade2Harvest Barn - located well inside the village, mostly fast food3Willard’s Hotel - dine in, supposedly Victorian speciality cuisine
You need about 8 hours to see the entire site and visit all the buildings. It was a great experience that we completed over 2 days. The food prices were ghastly expensive so we brought a picnic lunch. There are plenty of shady areas to enjoy a picnic. We found a variety of affordable prices for memorabilia and souvenirs in the gift shop. They offer free wheelchair usage for those not up to all the walking. We enjoyed our 2 visits immensly.
Wonderful place to visit and learn (adults, teens and childrenabout early times in Canada.People working there are great (it seems like they actually live there). They were very informative and entertaining.Food at the Barn is not great but affordable.
Great place for the family. Staff are very friendly and informative of their jobs. Lots of fun activities for the children.
A really great way to spend a day learning about how life was back in the 1860s. Lots of knowledgeable people dressed in period outfits going about their day. All the ones I talked to were happy to share information on what they were doing and answer any questions. Well worth a visit. There are a couple of different options for food onsite and a big gift shop as well. Get in line early if you want to buy some fresh baked bread.
Had a wonderful time with the family at Upper Canada Village. Lots to explore and transport yourself back to life in the 1800s. Interpreters were fantastic and very knowledgeable. you can take a boat ride to the far end of the property and then walk back as you explore all the village has to offer. There is a activity room where children can dress up in period clothing, play games and do a craft. Fresh bread is baked twice daily, 11 and 2 (it sells out fast). The train ride is an additional fee to the entrance ticket but worth adding on especially if you have children. I was very impressed that the train ride had a wheelchair accessible car at the front.
Immersive experience where there are many people in period costumes. They are really helpful and answer questions. We were there on a hot day and there were a few places to cool off, Chrysler hall and the dining barn had air conditioning. The annual pass is not much of you are planning to go more than once in a year, would really pay for itself.
Its like going back on time 200 years! Loved it! Wear a good pair of shoes because it is pretty muddy.
We love Upper Canada Village its full of history the grounds are beautiful and well kept.. depending on the time of year depends on what they offer. It is always fun we love Pumpkin Inferno and all that goes into it.. beautiful place to visit.
We have visited a few times as a family and each time has been really enjoyable and special. Both Summer and Winter events are worth checking out, but be sure to dress accordingly! We were thankful for every mitten and hat on our last visit during the Alight at Night event. The train was a lot of fun for our toddler, lots to do, and lots to see! Also, try the cheddar. So worth it. If youre able, try the bread too! I cant vouch for taste (since Im celiac), but it smelled like the most perfect loaf of heaven.
A Light at Night did not disappoint. The walk around the village with a light snow fall and the village lit up was serene and magical. We enjoyed the whole evening, finishing off with the train ride then a yummy Beavertail desert! I was a little surprised at the lack of products in the gift shop then in previous years, but I imagine its to discourage people from gathering while shopping due to COVID.
We went here a day before NYE and Alight at Night was a great experience. The whole place is beautifully lit up and its about an hour long walk as you go from structure to structure. There is a Beaver Tails outlet which was crowded the whole time. At the exit there is a gift/ souvenir shop. All in all a good winters night walk amidst twinkling lights!
Our family went to see Alight at Night and had a great time. It was well organized and the staff were very friendly and helpful. We havent been to Upper Canada Village for some years, but we will definitely be going back in the summer. It was well worth the price.
I loved my experience. Beautiful lights. You can tell alot of work was put into it. The washrooms were clean and the line up acceptable. Although I dont have children, I would think this place makes for a great family outing.
Alight the night at Upper Canada Village was beautiful experience! What a great walk to give you a Christmas holiday cheer. Note: Be prepared for cold weather. Mitts, toque, long johns, Etc. The wind off the St Lawrence River can be bone chilling.
Nice place, prices are pretty high for consession stands though. Probably wouldnt go more than once. The train just went through the dark along the water, wasnt mush to see. The lights were the only thing worth seeing.
Its a wonderful place to visit during Christmas time. If you like the feel of old world charm, you will love it there. You can and will experience the way and how simple life was in those days. Really magical...
Went for the "Alight At Night" Christmas festival on a date. A real eye-opener. The decorations are breathtaking and you feel the magic of the holidays. They even had a themed cafeteria supper which tasted good. Needless to say, I was alight that night.
So many beautiful lights the whole family enjoyed. It was not over crowded. We will definitely go back.
Absolutely amazing... every year! All made with pumpkins and its incredible work being done to make it happen. Its best when not crowded and this year may be due to early evening (around 7-8or covid limitations (or boththere were not too much people so we fully enjoyed it.
Went to Upper Canada Village for 9pm Pumpkinferno show and blown away by it. Over 7000 pumpkins shaped / carved into the most fantastic displays. Space ships, sea creatures, clowns, fairies, a train and many other unbelievable shapes. We were told these were pumpkin shapes that were moulded and then carved over the summer as otherwise they wouldnt survive the month long event. They indicated it should take 40 mins to walk it but we (with my 85yr old motherwere so enthralled it took 90 mins and not because of her speed but ours. The village took all precautions for distancing so always felt safe, had lots of room for pictures and had tremendous fun. Will definitely go back as told they change 40% year over year.
10/10 would visit here again. Its a great place to bring kids to and adults wouldnt get bored either. Knowing how things were done a century ago and looking back at all the tech then will leave you in awe.
The antique buildings and relics make this attraction full of personality, and the explanation below the monument makes people feel that the past cant bear to look back. in conclusion, I will visit this place full of personalization and education again.
Beautiful walk on a beautiful day.The gift shop was disappointing.Very little in the way of local handicrafts.I bought a cosmetic bag from China! They should try harder. Many buildings were closed but for allowing a peak in the front door, and all windows tightly curtained (?).Understandable about the closures due to Covid but they should have created presentation boards or virtual tours of each house, rooms and their key features, accessible by your phone.Be careful to not allow children off the path. Sadly, Wild Parsnip is out of control at Upper Canada Village. I have included photosMy nephew blistered up on both his leg and hand when playing in the grass. There are no warning signs posted. Cover immediately from sun exposure if contacted.Sad part of a pretty afternoon walk.
