Love the band and music great spot although small love the upstairs area for a different vibe ,love the DJ ,live music,loved getting there earlier to talk and chat move around with hardly any people at first,it is best getting there earlier, had the most greatest time a fun night of dancing, singing and drinking it had been absolutely years since I had been there,gets packed like sardines though,a little bit squishy on tge dance floor,cab get claustrophobic at times,hence,loved being upstairs where my partner likes to have a smoke and I can still dance and enjoy different music loved being there had a great night and weekend.

Perfect spot for occasion, great stuff and services.Highly recommended 👌

IMO Universal is possibly the best live music late night bars in the city..30+ years on and still as popular as ever. Kudos to the management for hiring attentive, friendly and customer centric bar staff and security. The kicker was listening to quality live music - great band and range of covers. Keep up the great work!

Spirits are watered down and food is pitiful. Steer clear of eating here. Bar policy doesnt allow you take photographs within the venue. Not sure what they are hiding.

Had a great time here. Older or young everyone welcome, band was good playing varied music, quite packed, also upstairs nightclub for the young set.

We had a good night then it seems like the staff needed to get some customers out in order to let more in. So since we were here since a while (dancing and having some drinkswe were invited to go out. Really insulting and disappointing.

This place hosted our social Halloween Party again, and they didnt disappoint!They decorated, they dressed up and they cooperated with us throughout the night. The staff were absolutely amazing and deserve a medal for their hard work!!

No stars for this place. I was kick out, just because one waitress was in a bad mood. I wanted to order my first drink in a whole night. I will complain to management and go further on. Her behaviour was beyond normal to customers. She was kicking people out for nothing. Shame Shane.

Charged me $38 for one corona and one shot of fireball... didnt realise until I saw my bank account the next day.. rip off! Apart from that music was great, still a massive pick up joint though... alright if you like that..

Good place to catch up with friends for a drink. Good vibe and friendly service.Stay on as they have great bands playing most evenings. So make a night of it.

Music was very good but the drinks are very very expensive. $14 pint. Im not sure its the actual price or staff charging more on cash payment.

DO NOT RECOMMEND A VISIT TO THIS BAR.Haven’t been to the city in 10 years plus. Highly, extremely, irrefutably disappointing that Terry (securitydecided that I was incapable of attending the venue after the 2 drinks I had at dinner. Was asked how many drinks I had and after 3-4 seconds of barely looking at me Terry had decided I wasn’t suitable for attending the venue without giving due reason. I did not bother wasting my time trying to argue. I called and explained the situation to a young lady at the bar but I did not get her name. She was polite but said she did not have power to override the security and could not help!!! EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED DO NOT RECOMMEND A VISIT.

Haven’t had a night out in so long. Decided to give The Universal Bar ago. Went there last time 8 months ago. Last time I was there the security staff were awful. Well it seems like nothing has changed. The back bar was great. The bar staff was really nice & helpful. But then there is a short women there who is completely rude. No idea why she works there. She clearly hates her job. Then once again the security are terrible. Bullies. I watched with so many people. This use to be a great place. Great atmosphere. But it clearly has lost its touch. The band was terrible too. Watch out for the bouncer with the bald head. He is clearly has mental health issues. Please be careful when you go to this venue.

Drinks and entertainment was good but I wasn’t impressed with the food. The wedges were fine but the pulled beef nachos were not great. The beef was very dry and the nachos were in one lump because the cheese had re-solidified before it got to the table.But, as I mentioned, the entertainment was great and the drinks were nice

Went here on the staff Chrissy party bender on a late Saturday night. Though the line was a bit of a wait, Once inside the place was rockin with a live band and great DJ in the upstairs Bar! Cheers.

Universal bar is one of few live music venues in Perth. Whilst the bands play cover songs of popular hits, the liveness if the music makes it a great experience. Almost always packed out on Friday and Saturday nights. It is more designed for an older crowd with friendly but firm bouncers and a large selection of premium spirits and wines. There is also an upstairs section which is open for a chill when its not booked out for a private function.

Great place to have a pepsi with your family, drank so many beers here so good! The burger patties tasted like dog food I almost wet my pants! Great live music and vibe, literally the worst burger Ive ever eaten, like eating a cardboard sandwich full of donkey meat. Awesome staff!

The staff at Universal Bar are friendly, proactive and have fantastic communication. They really helped me organise my event and navigate through COVID-19 restrictions, and ensured that my event went exactly to plan. The upstairs venue itself is awesome; great food, wonderful sound system, lots of dance space and seating and overall fantastic vibe. Would definitely recommend these guys for your next function

The music was great, the live band was very very good, they really brought the entire atmosphere to the next level. However the dance floor is a tad small once everyone gets into the groovy mode. FYI, the crowd there is generally more mature, so if you are looking for someplace to party your head off maybe go to one of the other nightclubs haha. Otherwise, its an amazing place to hang out, enjoy the music and the drinks

Highly recommended. I celebrated my 60th on the rooftop terrace bar and cannot thank the staff enough. it was the perfect venue with friendly and attentive staff who ensured my night went smoothly and to plan.

What a venue! We had our Engagement Party in their upstairs room last Saturday night and it was absolutely amazing. Fully stocked bar, beautiful balcony with removable roof and own toilets! The staff were incredible and organised helium balloons for us, set up the room so it was ready to go & were super helpful. You can order food through them too, with so much variety to choose from ! Vegan & gluten free options available. The gluten free pizzas they did were absolutely amazing! Such a nice pizza base. Thank you Montana for helping us organise such a great night & for Ashleigh for being super helpful on the night - organising our music and supplying us with a phone, when ours didnt connect. Such a great team of people you all are. Thanks again!

This place is an institution. It’s been around in the heart of Northbridge since I can remember and was around for years before I ever set foot in it. Live bands plying all the current hits and oldies you love every night. Great drinks and pub grub. If you’re looking for a fun uncomplicated night this is the spot. Ask for Jason he’d love to say hi.

I recently just had my 21st birthday here and it was absolutely amazing - the staff were so easy and great to deal with and the food and drinks were fantastic!The staff helped me set up for the event and at the end of the night they packed everything away for me, which was super helpful. I would definitely recommend this place for your upcoming events! :)

Watched a couple comedians from the fringe festival in the upstairs area which was really cool. Really cool atmosphere, not too big not too small. Cool people, bar staff was friendly and fast. Moderate prices for drinks. Would come here again 👌

Universal bar has a new virtual tour, I highly recommend to stop by and meet the great staff who work there and enjoy there great atmosphere, they even perform live band there, sitting outside they have byo out front with gas lit heaters right next to Northridge

I dont there a lot but whenever I get time I do go there my 2 best friend loves this place they go a lot and I love it and do go when i have free time and alwys enjoy myself. Every time I go there staff always make me feel special and they are friendly and professional. To all The staff thanks for making my my night enjoyable and the music rocks. Another place that doesnt not disappoint. Most of the people that go there are mutured but it is mixed different ages and different nationalities. Definitely recommend it,it will be a night to remember

Fantastic venue! Great staff, awesome variety in drinks from wines to cocktails and probably the best draft beers around. Not to mention their daily happy hour and food specials. And for anyone who likes live music.. Blues jazz rock and pop... Its an all round happy place to be.... Oh and the sport is always televised!! Cheers guys ;)
