Uncle Mick's Cajun Market & Cafe in Prattville

In the Montgomery, AL area for some training. Ate here for lunch. Great little spot, awesome decor and incredible Cajun food. Service is fast and friendly. Highly recommend if you’re anywhere close.

Fantastic food! First question when we walked in: "have yall been here before?" "No? Great, here try everything and then pick what you want!". Everything was delicious, Ill definitely be eating here again next time Im in town.

4 stars for the taste of the food, took 1 star off for the price. I got a bowl and my daughter a corn dog plate and it was $19.

The food was amazing! I got the red beans and sausage with dirty rice. For my sides, I got tomatoes and feta and pinto beans. It was all delicious. The service was awesome as well. I definitely recommend.

Amazing food and even better service! We dont get to this area of the country often, but when we do, we always look forward to Uncle Micks. It cannot be beat!

First timer ! Mick is a great host and chef! He wouldn’t let us order until we tried everything. Such a cool atmosphere and a must stop when near by.

Uncle Micks food is on point. He makes his own hotsauce, I am waiting on the call to purchase some now. Definitely great location and atmosphere. You wont be disappointed.

Uncle Micks is one of our very favorite places to share when we have out of town visitors. Recently we were visited by Colonel ParkerPlante and his beautiful wife, Kathryn. We took them to Uncle Micks and they were hooked, line and sinker. The atmosphere alone is charming, and the food is so delicious our visitors were ready to go back soon! We love the owner and the family.One appealing aspect for us "noncajuners" is the offer of a free taste of any food. The first one I tasted was it for me and everyone else. When we sat down we all had gotton something different and shared a taste. Little did we know all 4 meals were equal in deliciousness! If you havent visited Uncle Micks you must!! You will love it!

A friend recommended this place to me today. Beautiful downtown location and the Crawfish Etouffee with Cajun potato salad and coleslaw was stellar! To make it better Uncle Mick himself introduced himself to me and offered me a to go box or more bread! Wonderful experience. Highly recommended!!

Great food all around. Menu selections are very unique. I definitely recommend a small plate to get 2.5 portions of an entree and then two sides. The food tastes amazing. I got the Chicken and Sausage Piquante. Wonderful flavor and all around great meal to have during lunch. Much preferred over fast food options. Be sure to watch the time as they are closed between 2pm and 5pm.

It was mildly ok. Not terrible. I wish people knew that making it hot as F, doesnt make it Cajun. Had a bunch of nonchalant young people working too and that didnt help but thats everywhere now. I really wanted to like this place.

Absolutely delicious food. They are set up like a cafeteria style so you can see what your want and they put it on the plate in front of you. Flavors were just amazing and the service really showed their southern hospitality. Interesting decor inside but lots of fun. They had a big table in back our group of 14 was able to be seated at. I highly recommend the tilapia and the cornbread.

Great food. Great time. The owner was extremely kind and amicable. It felt like I was visiting my favorite uncles house. 10/10 Would visit again.

Enjoyed the food and the people. My family is unfamiliar with "Cajun Cookn" so didnt know what to expect. The person serving the food took the time to explain the options and then offered samples for us to try. The portions were enough to fill me up and we even took some to go. While we were eating, Uncle Mick came by to check on everyone and get to know the patrons. Like many of our friends, we will make this place part of our dining rotation.

The gumbo is fabulous, there are so many great choices to indulge in. Not a bad choice to be had. The staff is so friendly & the owner is very personable. This is locally owed. A must stop.

Always delicious, staff is very friendly and helpful, they will let you taste test the food so you know what it tastes like before you order. We eat there regularly and Uncle Mick himself usually comes to our table just to make sure the food is to our liking and I have so much respect for that!

I travel the country and this is one of my favorite spots. Family owned and operated, you will feel genuinely welcome from the moment you walk in the door. The food never disappoints. Most Cajun places skimp on the protein in their dishes, not here. Everything is perfectly spiced, hot enough that you know youre eating Cajun food but not so hot that it cant be enjoyed. And the sign of a great restaurant is when their sides are just as good as the entrees. You will leave here STUFFED.

Food was great, service was awesome! Make sure you get a slice of buttermilk pie! Didnt get pics of the food because I scarfed it down too fast and forgot!

Best restaurant experience in the USA!!!I got here on 2:30. 30 minutes after its already been closed, however, the owner was still in the place. I asked if he could still give me something to eat, since Id come from far, and he gave me so much amazing food to try, and then the best pecan pie ever!!!Thank you so much for this wonderful and affordable food. I love this place and food is great, the front line lady who takes order is super nice, friendly and enthusiasm; the owner(maybeasked your opinion for the food which is also very kind. Although nobody asks if you want to pack to go or dine in, when they put in the dish it’s too late to pack them, so remember to ask that in advance. Nobody is wearing masks in the room and it’s very crowded, I guess its hard to follow COVID rules in such as small place. Not sure if everyone get vaccinated but social distance is still matter.

Omg sooo good! People were extremely nice and again OMG the alligator + sausage piquante YUM! The shrimp a la creme - the 11 yr old just kept saying this is amazing! The seafood gumbo, geez so good!Im not from this area but Ill make the trek back with family members

I rarely ever give 5 stars. This place rocks. I ate way to much and wish I had space for more. The corn bread is better than my grandma’s but don’t tell her that!

Uncle Mick’s is amazing. I love the atmosphere and the food. We’ve never had a bad experience in over 3 years. Their food isn’t something you whip up last minute it takes a lot of time and care. I can honestly say I’ve never had food that didn’t taste fresh. Definitely a favorite for my husband and me. Thank y’all for always going above and beyond. God bless!

Different than I imagined but still fantastic. No table service more of a cafeteria style service but not cafeteria food at all .The owner mick was the one serving us. We sampled 5 or 6 different things before deciding on what we wanted to eat . All of the things we tried we great . I decided on the crab etouffee and shrimp de creme . Both are served over rice you can choose dirty rice or white rice.Also had the bread pudding with bourbon sauce. Very good . Lot of raisins on it though.I would definitely go back here again if in the area

Delicious as always, I have been eating here since 2010 and I have never picked a dish that was not great. I you like Cajun food its a must. If you are not sure you like Cajun food, then this the place to try it all. Its worth the drive over off I65 by a mile.

Had a delightful lunch at Mikes Cajun Market yesterday with my daughter and wife. Found the food to be tasty and enjoyable.

My 1st experience with Alabama cooking was 5 stars and then some. We were asked what we had last time, but after she found out we were first timers the samples came out. We sampled every style Gumbo and most were amazing to me. The one I didnt care for was still great flavor, just not a flavor I enjoy. We will return and this is a must visit if you are in the area.

Cant get enough of this place. The only bad thing is trying to decide what to eat. I had the Shrimp Creole, Alligator Piquante, Shrimp Scampi, and the Pork Tender in White Wine Sauce. They were all fantastic I did them in meals of two half portions. The deviled eggs were good and fruit was excellent. Staff is supper friendly and you can try anything first to make sure you like it. Ambiance was good. Home run all the way around. Had fantastic Pecan Pie too.

Insane value. Huge meal for 2 for 16.95 (we had the sampler platter). The shrimp a la creme was the favorite at the table and the German chocolate cake was terrific as well.

Im not a conesuer of Cajun food, but I have to say this food was really good! The ordering style is kind of awkward. You wait in a line and then its sort of like a buffet-style line where they serve you and you tell them what kind of entree and side you would like. I got the shrimp a la creme, chicken and sausage gumbo, deviled eggs, and tomato salad. It was cool that you can try the entree you wanted before purchasing it. Otherwise, I never would have tried to shrimp a la creme, it was really good. Delightful surprise!

The best gumbo I have ever eaten. The staff here s great and uncle Mick is great. Clean place and nice restaurant. Talking to him right now. Great part of town. Get in grab your food and head next door for a beer. Busy but they have enough. I will be back.

Southern hospitality may be slowly fading from society, but its alive and well at Uncle Micks! This is a must if youre anywhere near Montgomery, its the best atmosphere and service youll find anywhere around. Ive had the shrimp, the chicken, the gator, and the pork, and its all amazing. Also the cornbread is like a delicious butter sponge with a perfectly crispy outside and soft bready inside. Theyll let you sample different options if youve never been before!

Not far from where we were to visit Montgomery. Prices were very fair, service was friendly and there were a lot of offerings on the menu. Sort of an upscalish, steam-table, meat-and-three style, with a chalkboard menu. Be advised that gumbo and other Creole dishes are made all over the South, and their versions are usually not the same as the Louisiana style..this being case here.Food was pretty good; service for items not dished up right then was cheerfully slow. Decor was warm and kitschy, but in a good way. Everything was very clean, with ample parking front and rear.Not sure, but apparently deviled eggs are an official side dish in Montgomery. Theirs were outstanding.Desserts were a little disappointing, although the bourbon sauce for the bread pudding was excellent.If youre in that particular suburb of Montgomery, going here would make you happier than hitting a drive thru by a long shot.

Probably one of my favorite places to eat when i travel and Mick is a fantastic host. We always leave with a full belly and smiles. The combo platter is the best bet!

What a great alternative to the corporate chain restaurants. Uncle Micks is located in historic downtown Prattville. The Cajun cuisine is delicious and you are given the opportunity to sample any of the selections before making a choice. Along with the great food, we enjoyed the relaxed family atmosphere. And I highly recommend you have one of the desserts. We had the pecan pie and buttermilk pie and loved them both.

Cafeteria style Cajun food with lots of choices! I had the chicken and sausage gumbo and red beans and sausage both over dirty rice and they were delicious. I love that I can split a small plate between two entrees so that I dont have to choose! You can also try the entrees before you decide- they give you a sample if you ask! Lots of options for sides- I enjoyed the deviled eggs and tomato and feta salad. Finish your meal with a dessert! I highly recommend the chocolate bourbon pecan pie!

First of all, the setting in this place is amazing! Somebody definitely worked hard on it! Secondly, the food is VERY good! I really like how it is cafeteria style as well. Lastly, they have really good service! The staff was very helpful and kind!

Absolutely incredible little Cajun place in Prattville, AL! I was here with a friend while spending the day in town and I must say -- if youve got the chance, you MUST GO! Uncle Mick is likely the guy dishing up your food. I quite love that fact since now days you rarely meet restaurant owners. The place is called at lunchtime with regulars and visitors alike, but dont worry -- its quiet a spacious shop. When Uncle Mick heard it was my first time, he immediately began preparing small sample cups with the various Cajun gumbos, stews, curries, etc. It was a kind gesture and I was immediately sold on the first two I tried -- Shrimp al la Crème and Pork Tenderloin with a white wine sauce (curry -- maybe theres a better Cajun word for this but I dont know it). For sides I has TRULY some of the most incredible green beans imaginable. I would love to get employed just to steal that recipe, let alone all the other great dishes. I was prepared to drink the green bean liquid it was so good; decadent, with big pieces of ham, well spiced but amenable for all taste buds. This place was absolutely perfect!!!!Now as a Georgian, we might do a few things differently. My only thing I found curious was the Sweet Tea was only just "sweet." Maybe they do that to accommodate more taste buds or to help combat our rash of diabetics south of the Mason-Dixon, or maybe it was that particular batch. But thats certainly nothing to stress over. Would I add more sugar? Sure. But like I said -- small stuff!Please please please give this place a try!! I promise when traveling next time, if Im even remotely close and have the time, Ill be swinging through!!

Very small cajun restaurant. I am new to the area and wanted some cajun food. I loved the friendly and welcoming environment. The set up is kind of like a cafeteria set up. Everything is already cooked, you just choose what you would like. Uncle Mick was there to help my husband and I decide. He let us try each main dish before we made our decision. Once we finished eating, Uncle Mick came by to make sure we were satisfied and also offered us Italian Ice.Loved the friendly environment, great tasting food, and decor! We will definitely be back!

They give you free samples to help you decide what to order. We had the alligator piquante, crabmeat au gratin, and gumbo with sides of spicy potato salad, green beans, and garlic bread. It was all amazing! Plus the owner is there and very friendly as well as helpful. I cant wait to go back!

Super friendly! Mick did a great job of walking us through the different flavors and combos. He and his staff did an excellent job on the delivery and taste of the food.The only problem is you have to choose one or two. But fear not, youll be back. My favorite so far is the gator + dirty rice.Definitely recommend! Bring the fam and friends.
