Uncle Fung Borneo Eatery - Indonesian restaurant in Cerritos, United States
I found this place to be decent Indonesian food, which is kind of hard to find lately. The rice plate I got had plenty of different meats and plenty of flavor, and it came with a warm bowl of soup. The price was pretty fair for the quantity, but I couldnt help but feel like my meal was more premade than made to order. Like everything was warm, but not piping hot and fresh? I have eaten plenty of bento boxes so its not like Im not a fan of that kind of food, but I expected something else when I sat down.
Fairly good indonesian fix. Not as good as in Indonesia, but good enough for American palate. Service could improve, but theyre not rude. Need to return back to using real cutlery
Delicious and authentic tasting satay rice. The curry complimented the rice really well. The service is great too.
Really really excellent laksa! We decided to try this place, and we were not disappointed. The Singapore laksa was superb, and the chrysanthemum tea was perfect go-with for the midly spicy fare. So good 👍🏽
The food is authentic and delicious. Owner is very nice and kind. We truly enjoy every bite. So thankful and satisfied.
Love it! Authentic Indonesian food!
Another example of great ethnic cuisine in a non-descript strip mall. Well worth a detour.
I love their hakka mee and always order the same thing but unfortunately they get my order wrong 99% of the time and bring out the hokkien mee instead. It’s not even funny. And they’re not even similar. I don’t want to be a difficult customer but it’s hard to go some place where I can’t say they took my order wrong because they take your order without even writing it down. Sadly i won’t be coming back
Chicken satay coconut rice was booommmnbbbbbbb. Juicy meaty skewers
I dont know much about Indonesian food, but I loved the dishes. It used a lot of peanuts and coconut.
I always love the Roti Prata here. The curry sauce served with it is so cravable. Not too oily and consistently good. Menu has definitely been reduced in options during Covid. My server could not speak much english but was polite and gave me space. I chose the Ayam Goreng Kalasan Cornish Hen with Curry Stramed Rice. It was perfectly fried and delivered in a short space if time. Great for a quick lunch.
Very good Singaporean/ Malaysian food. The rotti with the curry sauce is very yummy! Nice and fast service. Price is reasonable. Will come back!
I and my friend ordered Singaporean laksa and kopi tarik (Borneo/Kalimantan/Indonesian coffee with sweet milk). The laksa was delicious and the right portion for me. The coffee was a little bit sweeter. I think for next time, I would order with 1/2 or reduced sweetness level. The coffee was delicious. Parking was not an issue when we visited this place. Within 5 miles radius from this restaurant, there are Knotts Berry, Portos bakery, Daiso, the Face Shop, 85 degree bakery, and Zion market.
Awesome place to enjoy some Malay and Sing’s food. Will definitely come back for more
WOW! THIS PLACE IS DELICIOUS! The guy that took my pickup order over the phone was very helpful by breaking down what was what for this white boy from Michigan. I ordered the Chicken Satay, Roti Prata and the Homemade Egg Noodle Ladka. The spices and flavors were very enjoyable. 😋 It was like a meal from the heavens. If you havent tried this place out you wont regret it.
Omg... this place is Awesome..! Delicious Food, friendly staff and speedy service. 😋 Im definitely coming back for more.
I was missing Singapore and this place popped up as a recommendation. Im so glad that I went here! I ordered a few different items and was instantly reminded of Singapore. The prata alone was worth the 40 minute drive! And the kopi was perfect! I will definitely be coming back to this location! Love it!!
Delicious food, wonderful staff. Laksa is soo good.
Food was delicious. Very friendly service. Ordered Laksa Mee, Roti Pratha, Borneo Plate, and Hokkian Mee. The barbecue pork was good. Enjoyed the Kopi Tarik, chrysanthemum tea, and milo.
Laksa is amazing. Stands out among so many good asian restaurants in the area. Simple menu thats all made from scratch. Frendly staff. Will definitely go again.
I gave you three stars because yes, your Ayam penyet and Ayam Kalasan were not bad. But, why they tasted the same??? Lol... Your Gado-gado has to be fresh and please chop the vegetable in smaller shape. The worse part was the Sate... Ive had never eaten fried Sate Ayam before! Even my Kaukasian hubby knew it was not up to par! I almost gave you 2 stars, but if you change the way you cook, theres hope Ill give you 4! I know what great Indonesian restaurant shouldbe. I dont mind to drive further to jyst get food from them if you wont serve a great one...
Overall taste is Ok. But for us, Indonesian, the size is too large. The owner & staffs are kind. The restroom is only one and too large, I think if they design two restrooms are better for guests.
Good food, not traditional Indo food dont expect traditional, loved it will go back.
They were so so yummy and helpful! I accidentally ordered take out and they kindly helped deliver my food with no extra charge!! The food was awesome too!!
Yum! I’ve never had Indonesian food, so I have nothing to compare it to. That being said. The food was delicious! The noodles I order was like ramen and Thai curry combined. Loved it! The coconut flavor was great. I think I would try this place again and try something new.
After returning from my trip to Indonesia, this restaurant helped satisfy my craving for some Indonesian food. I got their “Borneo Rice plate” and enjoyed it very much. I’ll be back to try some more of the menu!
The ambiance and service might not be that impressive, but I think the food makes up for it. I had the Hakka mee and their fresh fruit drink. It was really tasty. Driving in and out of the parking lot could be tricky, but you can also park in the next plaza and just walk over through this gap on the hedge. =)
Good taste, friendly service
Delicious dishes all around. Would definitely come back.
Wow. I lived in Indonesia with my family for 4 years and I’ve been disappointed by every Indonesian place I’ve eaten outside of Indonesia. Not any more. I’ve driven past Uncle Fung many times and ever had the opportunity to go in, but today was the day. I went with my family and everyone was impressed. We tried: sate, gado-gado, Ayam goreng kalasan, both the curry and coconut rice, the laksa mie, and one of the other mie options. This was easily the best Indonesian (and Singaporeanfood I’ve eaten outside of Indonesia, and it was actually better than a lot of the Indonesian food I’ve eaten IN Indonesia. The peanut sauce was on point, the laksa was the best I’ve ever had, the sambal was right (this is important!). They just nailed it. I’ll be back for sure.Even though it pains me to pay US prices for Indonesian food, the food was reasonably priced for the location. Service was quick, efficient and friendly. I can’t wait to go back!
This was my first time visiting and I was very impressed by the friendly service and how delicious the food was; I ordered the #7 no fish cake and #25 iced milk to drink.
Wow! I gave this place a try after seeing some really delicious looking pictures on Yelp. It was so good, reasonably priced, yet a tad bit salty. I still would highly recommend. Just drink a ton of water with your meal and youre set
The laksa was rich in flavor and a decent size portion. It could have used a few more protein toppings. The noodles were average.
Small eatery not far from Knotts. Casual dining experience, not much for decorations. Simple menu, specially drinks are okay.
This hidden place is good eatery. It is indonesian Malaysian and Singaporean food. The noodle is good. Look like homemade. Try nasi lemak with fried cornish hen was delicious. One thing that place has small selections od menu. So come and try it. I would recommend it
Highly recommended if you are in Buena Park area. Food is good and tasty. My favorite is Hokkian and Ayam Kremes nasi lemak. Yummy to my tummy....
Just stopped by for lunch. The Borneo rice plate is just enough for a lunch meal. The food came out fairly timely. The soup accompanys the plate which is good to clear your palate every so often while eating. You can definitely say I will return for more to try other dishes. The restaurant is clean and was not too crowded for lunch today. The server was nice. If you like this review, please click the like button. Thank you and have a good day.
My first adventure with Borneo cuisine. The curry soup was rich with yellow curry. So comforting. I ordered the cornish game hen, which had a crispy skin and super moist meat. The restaurant is a little hole in the wall but in a good way. Cozy and the waitresses were so good with the 10 month old family baby boy at our table who was flirting shamelessly with them from across the room. Very cute place.
Right across from Knotts Berry Farm, this is a great place to get some delicious food! I definitely recommend the main dish, Laksa, as the portion was considerate and will fill you up real quick.
Fried egg noodles are the bomb, the soup comes in a separate bowl.Best noodles I have tried in my life.
Indonesian anf Malay eatery with flavorful grilled young chicken with coconut infused or garlic and herb rice. Their stays and rice noodle dishes are quite good. It is near (walking distancefrom Knottsberry Farm and is a better choice than those eateries around the park. Their drinks are quite nice as well though sweetened.
Great Asian food. Closed to the taste back in Singapore. Chili is nice! Service is great. Keep it up.
Great Food, and friendly service,
I havent tried many Indonesian eateries so i dont have much to compare it to, but as far as judging it in a vacuum, its great. My only complaint is that the ayam penyet is a bit dry in some parts but thats the challenge in using a Cornish hen rather than a full size chicken when it comes to frying it. It makes up for it with great flavors however, and the curry rice should keep the dish as a whole far from dry
Food taste is really good. One of the best Indonesian restaurant to go in Los Angeles. Glad they opened more locations toward Orange County area. Highly recommended for the taste of southeast asian foods.
Best chicken skewers! I loved the laksa noodle soup. Parking can be tricky esp during peak dinner times.
Laksa love here! Whole Laksa love!Man, do I love me some laksa mee. I remember serving jury duty at the Alhambra courthouse, and two of my lunch breaks were spent at Borneo Kalimantan Cuisine, where I had the most wonderful fortune of having laksa mee Singapore for the very first time. Perturbed in finding an eatery closer to me, I now have an option not far at all from my residence.Buena Park is home to the second Uncle Fung Borneo Eatery, with the first being in Long Beach. On a cold, rainy day, laksa mee Singapore beckoned me into its warm, loving arms & I just had to satisfy my craving.Laksa mee Singapore (w/ homemade egg noodles)-Choice of either beehoon (thin rice noodles), kway teow (flat rice noodlesor mee (homemade egg noodles). Hey, when somethings homemade, you gotta get dat, yo. The creamy, savory, coconut milk curry broth is accentuated with shrimp, fish cake, fried tofu, hardboiled egg, sweet corn, scallions & fried shallot. Love at first slurp! Think ramen, but kicked up a notch with rich coconut milk. The spices, the right amount of heat to appease spicy lovers, yet not enough to deter the non-spice lovers, the perfectly al dente noodles. Like a seasoned ensemble cast, it all just works. Probably my favorite soup dish, period!Service was good. I was quickly attended to when ordering and after the short wait for my piping hot bowl of soup to come out. A fair amount of seating, Uncle Fung is best suited for smaller sized parties.Parking is via a small private lot. There is an adjacent parking lot, but I believe its only for the bank & IHOP, with signs declaring so. Street parking is also available behind the restaurant. Uncle Fung is located right across La Palma Ave. from the Buena Park Downtown Mall.Laksa for lunch? Why not? Uncle Fung Borneo Eatery hits the spot when I need to satisfy my laksa mee craving. At a little over $10 a bowl, and being minutes away, Uncle Fung has become one of my go-to spots for good grub. Perhaps, I may explore the rest of the menu, say the roti or chicken satay, but I dont foresee ever dining at Uncle Fung without having a bowl of laksa mee Singapore front & center on my table.Highly recommend!NOMNOMNOMNOMNOMNOMNOM
Homemade noodles! My kids enjoyed some delicious noodles while I had the fried Cornish Hen with rice. I especially enjoyed the spicy sauce that came with my chicken meal. Will definitely be back!
Food was good. Would come back for their laksa mee
Super yummy sauces and delightful homemade noodles. We couldnt get enough of these flavors and fresh ingredients.Recommended : Mee Goraing. Ramen style noodles, shrimp and BBQ pork, scrambled egg, vegetables and fish cake stir-fried.For a great desert drink, try Cendal. Fruit, milk, ice, spices.
