Long-running eatery specializing in homestyle American breakfasts & diner-style lunches.
This is my favorite place to get breakfast. Everyone that works there is friendly. My food comes out the way I like it everytime.
Breakfast menu had a lot of options, friendly staff, food was affordable and tasted great!
Fantastic service and friendly staff! Food was amazing, highly recommend the meaty hash. Prices and portions are great too! Three of us together for lunch under $40. We are full!! Will definitely be coming back and bringing friends.
Food was great and service was very friendly. They treated me like I was a regular.
Usually a goto spot for me and my work buddies. They are usually pretty quick and food is good. Staff is always friendly. Sometimes a little busy during lunch time but thats a good thing.
This is our familys go to for our weekend breakfasts. We love this place. Everything we have tried has been great! Their food is yummy the pancakes are big and tasty. Great friendly waitress and staff.
Always good food and great service.
I was on the hunt for a good breakfast joint to go to for a while now and I when I tried Uncle Ernies I was blown away with how amazing it was and was dead set on making this my primary spot for breakfast.Ive been going here for a few months now and I have fallen in love with theyre omelets , just recently though have I tried theyre buttermilk pancakes which when they arrived at my table were HUGE I only ordered two but only managed to eat one plus some toast before I was stuffed and all of it came under $15.
Love it!! Very homey atmosphere, staff is AMAZING, food is delicious!!!
Pretty consistent food and service.Been around quite awhile.Food is above average.
An awesome Ma & Pa breakfast joint. On a recent trip from Florida to Michigan to visit family and friends my family and I decided to take a trip to the Air-zoo museum. But since the museum didnt open until noon on Sunday we were trying to find a place to meet with friends and have breakfast before we went. Everybody we talked to recommended Anns House. But it was an incredibly long wait and we only had a few hours before the Air-zoo. My wife found this place and Im so glad she did; its literally right down the road from the air-zoo and I would definitely come back to this place again the breakfast was awesome. Its located in a small little shopping center about a 1/4 north of the I-96 and 1.5 miles from the airport.Upon walking in it looks kind of looks more like a senior citizens breakfast joint it wasnt the nicest, more older and dated. It reminded me a lot of the several waffle houses from down south. It may not look nice but the food is always awesome! We waited for a few minutes for the servers to get our table ready and were properly seated the coffee was good and my daughter had the pancakes. I did not have any and opted for a loaded omelette instead. The omelette was awesome. I guess this place is known for their corn beef hash so I decided to try the homemade hash versus what you can buy from the can in the store the homemade hash was very good I would get it again. We came here at about 10:30 in the morning on Sunday. In this place gets packed very quickly after church lets out.My only complaint about the place was it was incredibly hot inside perhaps the AC was broken when we were there. Im surprised they didnt open a window to let the fresh air in but it wasnt very enjoyable eating a hot breakfast while I sweated in the eating area.**Overall, this trip was about family and the memories we made along the way to the Air-Zoo it was a lot of fun that day. Im super glad we stopped at Uncle Ernies to start our day out right, we will definitely stop again in the future.Cheers!
Uncle Ernies was great to have delicious food and a variety of food there the way it just was very fast friendly and funny and we even indulged a very good conversation with our neighboring table which was also pretty stimulated because they were from a foreign country it was great I love Uncle Ernies pancake house and Ill be visiting many more times in the present the future and beyond
Only place in the world that requires payment Over the phone for to go orders. And prepare to be put on hold.
The biscuits and sausage gravy, the vegetable omelette and the pancakes were amazing. The restaurant was full of old timers who were kind enough to forgive the "decibel levels" of the kids, the waiter was super kind and helpful and overall a fantastic experience
The food is well prepared and always tasty! The service is fast, friendly and keeps your coffee cup full!
Five star customer service! Calm atmosphere. I reccomend sitting at the bar 🍸
The food was mediocre and the wait times were not awful, but as soon as our waitress took our order, she was no where to be seen until the food came out. She did not make conversation with us and made sure to give her family(who sat down at the end of our mealservice before us even though we were only waiting for a box. Instead of getting us a box to leave when we asked, she served her family of 5 drinks and took the order of another table so we were forced to ask the bus boy who, by the way, was killing it on the job unlike our waitress. This was after waiting an excessive amount of time for the check. Will not be returning.
Great breakfast menu, wonderful staff, good prices, too.
Great wait staff!! Friendly, fast, attentive, and courteous! Food was great!
Good omelets and service. Nice fathers day breakfast.
0 point ,I wantedtoo long, asked why peopleseated they came after me ,she saidyoucan go somewhere elseif youdont like so i didnteven go inside took off
This place has some of the best sausage gravy you will ever eat. Good about honoring specific requests too. All around great experience :)
Excellent, friendly service. The homemade corned beef was awesome, but you really need to try the potato pancakes! So good with the applesauce!
Great place for breakfast. Good food and great service!
Small place with quick service and fabulous food. The house made corned beef and hash was amazing! Friendly staff were very attentive but not hovering around the table.
Tried to get breakfast and was told I couldnt bring in our own food for a 2 year old said it was a health violation....outside food in no way affects your restaurants health besides you not getting money in your greedy pockets. This is by far the lowest thing I have ever seen. DO NOT GO HERE.
Tried to order from here for pick up and pay cash and got hung up on. Im not going to go order n wait with a bunch of crusty old men for 20 min to get some very mediocre food. I have ate here multiple times and aside from this experience the food deserves the one star review on its own.
Classic family dining with friendly servers and decent food. Not five-star, but worth returning to!The pancakes are delicious, but huge. You could easily split an order between 2 adults.
Great food and service! Biscuits and gravy were awesome and the food came out before i had time to finish my first cup of coffee! Definitely recommend!
Food was just okay. The waitress was awesome fast and kept checking on me but the food didnt wow me. The waitress were talking about guest in ear shot. May come back but it was not one of my favorite places it was okay. Price was reasonably priced for the food I got.
Outstanding breakfast restaurant! The food was amazing and the service was delightful. Whenever in Kalamazoo, this is THE restaurant you want for breakfast. Sorry…I didn’t get a chance to take a picture of the food. Once I started eating…I didn’t stop!
Good food, good prices, and good service.
Nice place for a stopping to have breakfast 🥞 in all variants- we had the pancakes which were really good! The French toasts with egg and bacon 🥓 was also good! Nice team and service.
I really wanted to love this place and maybe it was an off day but it just wasnt a good experience. The place looked dirty. Our table had a used fork under it but I decided to brush it off since it was the breakfast rush. I ordered a cappuccino which would have been fine if I didnt ask for whip cream. It tasted like plastic. The meal I ordered came relatively quick and the ingredients were fresh but the omelet was so thin I had a hard time picking it up with my fork. Ive never had a omelet so thin that I could see the ingredients inside. The micky mouse pancakes were fine but they lacked topping options. I was seated quickly, the server was great but the food just wasnt worth the price. I was hoping for a mom and pop diner feel and this wasnt it.
Great place for breakfast. It has a very homey feel to the place. The food was great. The staff was friendly. They kept my coffee cup filled repeatedly. Very moderately priced. The food was delicious
Been here a couple times. The girls are always nice. The floor was pretty dirty w plastic coffee creamer cups and napkins but understandable for a place of business. Took 15 minutes before anyone took our order but it was out 15 minutes later after they did so. The servers looked pretty upset and stressed out. Definitely worth a try!
This place has been a breakfast icon in the Kalamazoo area since I was a kid. Just went back this morning (probably 25 yrs. laterand its still amazing! The food was absolutely delicious (not greasy at all), I loved the menu items offered, the service was top-shelf, and the place was clean as can be! Definitely going to start coming back again!!
Good breakfast place, satisfied us enough after a 2-hour drive to see off a friend at the airport at 6 AM in the morning. Not too special otherwise. Huge portions, friendly staff, a bit on the salty side.
Uncle Ernies has super nice waitresses and the food always comes out quick and delicious. Ive eaten here about 10 times and have never had a problem 😁.
After a 12 hour shift came in for a bite before heading back to the hotel, half way through our breakfast the cook comes out and aggressively confronts my boyfriend and I accusing us of taking video and photos in the restaurant.1. No videos or photos were being taken.2. Don’t harass me while trying to have breakfast.3. It’s not against the law to have my phone out or be on it in public.4. Was the waitress under the influence of something and a bit paranoid? Seemed that way, she’s the one who sent the cook out.5. Then waitress said she spoke to the owner and we were banned from the restaurant, we spoke to the owner too, he welcomed us back knowing his employees were in the wrong.6. We won’t be going back!If you like a quiet peaceful meal, THIS IS NOT THE PLACE TO GO! Eat at your own risk.
I came with a friend at 9am on a Friday. They said there was a bit of a wait, took my name and phone number and that they would call. We really only sat in our car for 2-3 minutes? It wasnt long! They have the tables spaced out a little for safety. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. We ordered and within ten minutes we had our food, despite how busy they were. I ordered pancakes, scrambled eggs and extra crispy bacon. It was all excellent. Bacon was cooked the way I like it. There was a bit of a line at checkout so another waitress offered to process our payments in the back to help things along. All in all, a great breakfast experience. Ill be back for sure.
5 ★• Staff is terrific.• Food is very good.• Theyre good about keeping your coffee full :)- ★• Scrambled eggs always undercooked—still runny.• They dont have any real butter!• $20 for breakfast for two—especially when youre ordering moderately—at a neighborhood diner always seems like a lot, but I could be caught in a time-warp.
Wonderful service and great food.
The place was pretty well packed but we were seated immediately in a booth. The blueberry lemon pancakes (specialwas very bright, fluffy, and perfectly sweet with a lovely kick from the lemon tart. We also enjoyed the 1/2 nashs hash (specialand recommend the corn beef if you enjoy the meaty flavor. Lovely service from Lisa, we will definitely be coming back again.
I love their breakfasts! I went there once and their special for that day was called the “Cuban Hash” and I wish it was a regular menu item because I got that years ago and I still can’t stop thinking about it, IT WAS THAT GOOD.
Great little hole in the wall. Awesome food and great service. It is a busy place (especially on a Sundaypancakes were very good and the homemade corned beef hash was very tasty. Everything was served hot...like really hot. The servers all help each other out to make this place run quite well.
What a meal! Huge portions and a great price. Pancakes are the size of the dinner plates!
When you walk into Uncle Ernie’s you’re transported to small town America. Light Americana adorns the walls, local folk are having loud conversation, and the atmosphere beckons you to simply sit and relax.Lisa, my server, was friendly and on point with coffee refills. My food came out fast - two eggs, four pieces of crisp bacon, and Texas toast - and was exactly as ordered. The prices are below what you might expect these days - I love a good breakfast value! They have an Early Bird special for $4 that cannot be beat. I’ll try it next time.If you’re looking for a good breakfast at a great value, Uncle Ernie is serving up what you want!
Early Bird Special WOW alot of food for the money. Definitely 💕 good and filling. We will be back for sure.
One of my favorite places to eat. Great food great service.
