Umberto's Cuisine - Italian restaurant in Ao Nang, Thailand
Great place! The staff is good, and the food is authentic. Also the atmosphere. We had a great time here.
Outstanding experience. Authentic Italian food, we ordered pizza, a big cold cuts plate and tiramisu. Great service and good wine. 100% recommended
Great place!!Best Italian restaurant in Krabi! We came back 3 times to eat that amazing pizza pasta tiramisu and lasagne. The service was always good and the atmosphere was nice.Really recommend this place!
Absolutely incredible, I would be shocked if you could find a better Italian restaurant in all of Thailand. True attention to detail with fresh ingredients and great taste. Truffle gnocchi is definite recommended. Great selection of US, Australian, and Italian Wines.Topping it all off was incredible service, some of the best I have had in years. Extra care was taken to make sure we enjoyed our meal. Dining room was well appointed, felt fancy and high class. Obviously more expensive then what you would pay for a street vendor in Thailand but still a bargain if considering European or American pricing.Hats off to Umberto and his crew. I
Italian atmosphere with okey pizza and kind waiters, they where a little expensive but over all a place you should go to if you dont want to eat rice again x Tammo & Tom
Just absolutely not worth it. I was expecting a lot more when I walked in. My order came out after 10 minute wait but was told the risotto would be about another 15 minutes. Where I come from is extremely rude to start eating before others. It arrived but had sand in with the seafood.Very disappointed, had high hopes, expensive too. Waitresses did there best but spoilt a birthday night out.
Very nice place to eat if your are tired from Asian cuisine. Pasta made in best Italian traditions and cold platter also was awesome like we have had in Portofino 2 months ago👌Highly recommended
Probably the best Italian cuisine in Krabi. The seafood marinara tomato sauce was extremely rich in flavours!!! Heaps amount of fresh seafood, clams, mussels, squid, prawns… nice portion. Tiramisu was a good choice to round off my evening. However, prices were on the steep side. But who cares when ur on a holiday!!
Well made, delicious, Italian food. The Al Fresca environment is also a welcome change and adds to the ambience. Interesting that you can walk into the wine storage and pick out your bottle yourself. Staff were on top of everything!
We loved this place, had a good bottle of wine and good food. The Risotto came out first and was undercooked but other dishes and pizza were excellent. Nice atmosphere, friendly staff, good choices and prices for imported and high quality food.
After a week of eating Thai food, it was nice to have some western comfort food. Service was good. Great quality and value for the pasta. The pizza was good too but I would only come back for the pasta. The pasta invention with the pizza dough on top was bit odd and unnecessary (dont recommend). We didnt try desserts but the cold cut and cheese platter had super decent quality ingredients. I was surprised. Overall great Italian restaurant in Krabi as long as you dont expect big international standard.
Real "aldente" home made pasta with great sauce. Amazing tiramisu. You wont regret going there. I would like to go again and try more dishes
Good pizza, good food, pleasant atmosphere. Over-priced in Thai terms, even though rather cheap in western terms. A wide and very decent range of wines.
Excellent and representative napoli pizza for a very good price. Nice ambience and very kind staff.
Best meal we have had so far in Thailand. Beautiful restaurant from the decor and staff to the incredible food. Wide selection of pasta, pizza and cheese varieties on the menu. Burrata caprese was delicious and fresh, very tasty. Gnocchi sorrentino was absolutely perfect, silky smooth gnocchi in a lovely tomato and mozzarella sauce, served in a pizza bowl to top it all off.10/10 experience, would highly recommend!
Love the pizza!! Friendly, welcoming service. Delicious desserts. Pasta is ok.
Wow this place in seriously incredible.Where to start On arrival the staff great you with a beautiful smile, before being seated to enjoy some alfresco dining. The food is beautifully served , and without a shadow of a doubt, some of the finest Italian food I have ever eaten.Umberto, his wife and family make an amazing experience, one that must be sampled
Just had the the best pizza so far in Thailand. Rare to find a restaurant here that has provolone and taleggio. Tiramisu was also very good. Staff was very friendly and professional. Manager also very lovely and very beautiful 😉Its not the cheapest restaurant but you get quality for a reasonable price . I recommend you to come here if you want to have real Italian food.
Real Italian pizza, tasty dough, lots of wines to choose from.
Delicious food and a great selection of wine. The staff are wonderful and the restaurant itself is beautifully designed. I returned for a second time after being a guest at the hotel, so I would definitely recommend!
Best Italian in Krabi. Yes you oay a bit more compare to other restaurants near by. But the services, the qualities of the food is top notch. Everyone is realoy enjoy the dinner tonight. All the staffs is super attetive and sweet too. We will come back for sure.
Nice atmosphere, recommended for chill during the special night.Fare Italian food. I tried 3 dishes from the restaurant. The soup is highly recommend.
Umberto‘s Cuisine is a genuined italian place in Krabi, which serves great pizza, nice homemade pasta and has a high has an high-end touch to it. The owner is very courteous, but has to compensate a bit for the lack of english skills on the side of the waitress. They also provide the opportunity to play some pool after dinner.
If you want authentic Italian food you need to try this place! My girlfriend doesnt ever like her food but she said this place was aroy mak!
Great food! I do love pasta (pic attached). It’s best pasta I have ever had. Other dishes are also goood.Perfect atmosphere for dining with friends, family, and loved ones. Reasonable price that worth trying it!
A bit pricey in comparison to other Italian restaurants but food was pleasant and service handled well. Huge selection of cheese and wines. The Ricotta dessert was absolutely a delight.
Decent food. But loled the ambience. Nice to eat in the open air and it was one of the italian restaurants stumbled upon in krabi. Very friendly service!
I went for a pizza once and it was quite good. I had a ham/mushroom one. It cost me only 260 bath + vat. I was served very quickly. Staff was nice. Satisfied for my meal I went for another pizza a few days later. My only tip for the cook is to be careful when cooking the base. The second time it was a bit over-burnt.
Amazing pizza!!!The pizza is very very very tasty!! I wasn’t expecting to eat a good Italian food and I’m surprised! Super recommend!
We needed a break from asian food and we decided to have pizza in this italian restaurant. As italian i usually don’t go to italian restaurant outside of italy but we decided to give a chance to this place and i have to admit that the pizza was like at home. The other dishes were also looking very good. Absolutely recommend this place.
Great Italian restaurant when you want a break from local food : Staff were friendly and the food was delicious! Our kids picked to come here for two dinners in a row, including Christmas dinner! Also our son has a peanut allergy and the staff was very understanding and accommodating. The host was extremely nice and helpful as well.
Very bad food, expensive. We ordered two dishes and both were equally bad. We ask for extra toppings on pizza and chef just put them after pizza was cooked. I complained about it and the waiter came back after 10 min with the same pizza, now over cooked and dried! Burrata was very poorly presented. Again, chef had no clue! It was pathetic experience. I asked for a wine to test before I order, the lady came with ice cold red Cabernet that’s was very savoury. Please don’t waste your money as this place is expensive and not good! Lousy service to top it off! They did not care! Please see the pictures!!
We took a taxi to get here for the good review. But the food just taste so bland. No flavor. We ordered they most popular dish and very disappointed. There pizza is floppy and ingredients just fall over. Spaghetti is very expensive 590 and boring too. Can’t see why this is the best Italian in the town.
Had a penne puttanesca: tomato sauce with anchovies, capers and black olives at 250 baht and a watermelon shake. Really tasty, wouldnt say it is cheap but felt like I am paying for good quality food, so no complains. Customer service is good too.
A classic Italian restaurant, a different experience during a trip to Thailand when deviating from the standard restaurant route that Thailand has to offer. The food was delicious, especially the starters: plates of sausages and cheese, salads and bruschetta. For main courses we took homemade pastas and lasagna, which proved to be a particularly tasty dish. All the dishes were prepared in place (according to the statement of the restaurant chefand the food was fresh. The service is excellent and it seems important for the staff to create a very Western experience. The wine menu is rich and varied and even Italian beers can be ordered for anyone interested. The price youll pay is a bot higher than the rest of the restaurants but still great value for your moneyDefinitely a refreshing experience :--)
Average, at best. For starters, we ordered the Bruschetta with Blue cheese + Mozarella. This wasn’t too bad, bread was nice, and the cheese was good. For mains, we ordered the Seafood pasta and the Porcini Risotto. The seafood pasta was average, sauce was ok. However the prawns/shrimp were just “cocktail” sized. Pretty disappointing when every Thai restaurant we’ve been to in the Krabi province had huge prawns/shrimp. Pasta was a little over done. The Porcini Risotto was the most disappointing; lacked flavour and seasoning. Rice seemed a little overdone as well. The waitresses were all friendly and customer service was good.Worth the premium? Perhaps not.Worth a try? Yeah, I reckon you could check this place out if you’re “tired” of Thai food; like we were.FYI; they start business at 2pm (1400hrs). but it could be because it was just before Songkran. 🤷♂️
Outstanding Italian food in a beautiful Aonang Krabi.Mixed seafood spaghetti is so delicious. The seafood is fresh.Awesome service. Staffs are kind and friendly.Nice ambient. Reasonable upmarket price.
Ordered Bruschetta Boscaiola (THB170with Bacon, mushrooms and mozzarella cheese and Chicken Paillard (THB420), 3 pieces of grilled chicken breast.I am not an expert in Italian dishes so cant honestly rate the Bruschette, but the grilled chicken was tasty. Quite a big portion for one person.Rating 4/5 due to high prices, (relatively to Thailand).
This restaurant was great. We ordered the Spaghetti Carbonera, Calamari, and Inferno Calzone. All were great. The staff was also very friendly and accommodating. As we left, Umberto was there to thank us for coming, which was a nice touch. Would definitely recommend this place for anyone looking for a very quality meal in Krabi.
Price is really on the high side (expensiveand food was okay.Wagyu beef stew was hard as rock but as per Umbertos advise, this is the way the dish is intended to turn out. I try to provide him my tips like including how parentheses (like thiscould help give dinners some understanding before they order this dish. But he mentioned there is no point in putting it because it differs from the ingredient/batch he received from suppliers. We were given a cream dessert and -10% from that only dish. We end up tipping the discount back to him during payment.Umbertos was on the floor and strict. Staffs dont happy and the atmosphere was kinda tense since we were seated near the entrance.
Excelente Italian cuisine , the service was super fast , we had such a good dinner !! We had to wait like 30 min but it was worth it , i had pasta buscaiola or something like that and was really tasty !!
Incredible! So much food I feel Ill never eat again:The owner came out to greet us and let us know the special for the day- pork belly. We ordered that which came with grilled vegetables, chips and sauces. We also ordered beef bourginon with a cream and truffle oil pasta- cooked perfectly. If we ever come back to Krabi we will eat here again!
If you cannot eat any more Thai food come to this place! The food, the drinks and the service are very very good. If you are like me and my wife you will feel at home with some brusquettas and a nice pasta while drinking nice drinks like a negroni. Go, you wont regret.
Let me start by saying that this is a genuine Italian place. I very simple thing...as simple as a knife on the table has that clue. They have proper pizza / steak knifes rather than letting the customers struggle with butter knifes. Pasta is super good and pizza was just okay (being a big pizza fan). Ambience was decent slightly away, but not too far, from the main market stretch. Staff is great and kind. Recommended if you are looking for a decent Italian meal. BTW their house white is quite nice.
Great italian restaurant, everything fresh, all meat imported from Australia, nice and helpfull staff,we have been here twice, but if we come back to Ao Nang,we visit this reastaurant again for sure. The pizza calzone was the best for me!The prices are reasonsble, not much higher than in other restaurants around.Pizza around 250-300 bth, pasta 350 bth.
Came here on a Friday night without a reservation, it was pretty busy and there was already a few people ahead of us. The owner (I believeput our name down and said it would be 20-25 minutes. It took a little longer but we ordered a bottle of wine to drink while we waited. We finally got seated and knew exactly what we wanted to order; Greek salad, Italia pizza and the beef ravioli. The beef ravioli were absolutely outstanding and cooked perfectly. I didn’t give a five star rating because the bread basket that came out was a little stale and the staff could put a smile on their face and be a bit more personable. Other than that the food was great!
Hands down, the best pizza in Thailand Ive had so far. Delicious, authentic Italian food using imported products. The caprese salad and coffee was also really good and the service friendly and professional. Starred on my map, thank you Umberto!
Amazing meal. We had Pizza & Spaghetti Carbonara & Beef Carpaccio. Hats off to Chef Umberto. Honestly, it is one of the best Italian meals I had in years. Go there if you need a break from Thai food. Btw: waiting staff is highly trained and very professional. Just look at my pictures! :)
Perfectly organised restaurant, very professional and clean. While the food looked exactly like in Italy, the taste of our pizza was somehow a little bit strange, think they use another kind of flour for the dough. Also the bread which came with the salad was dry and tasted like it was from the day before. However, we are in Thailand and if you want to eat Italian, that place is definitely worth it. Prices are ok, regarding the imported ingredients and the professionality of the restaurant.
After a few bad experiences with Thai food we where looking for some more safe food. After the first visit we fell in love with the Italian food and decided to eat there almost every following night. Service is great and the host is very professional and kind. I recommend the steak but the pizzas are also delicious.
