A menu featuring an array of sushi rolls & hot dishes from Japan & Korea with counter seating.
This was our first time in the establishment. The staff seemed friendly but not very interactive. One of the ladies was having a very loud inappropriate conversation in tagalog nearly the whole time we were there. Unfortunately the food looked good but lacked flavor. I ordered the bibimbap and it was tasteless. You can tell they cooked everything together. I cook Korean food regularly, so I am aware of how to prepare this dish. There are ways each vegetable is prepared so that you have an array of flavors when you mix everything. To get any flavor I had to drown it in the sauce. My fiance ordered the tonkotsu ramen. Noodles were cooked well, broth also lacked flavor. We were kind of bummed. The dinning room was pretty warm. Parking is hit or miss in this area. We both decided we would eventually go back and try different dishes to give them another try. Will up date my review at that time.
Not very good. Expensive for trash sushi.
I arrived about 10 minutes before closing but they were gracious and let me order a katsu dish for takeout. Excellent and generous portions.
Excellent Korean American food. The miso soup and edamame are delicious. I ordered the Shrimp tempura Danbori -- loved it as it is an explosion of flavors that are both crispy and savory. Its a lot of food as I couldnt finish it.
Very poor workers very rude when I asked for a refund because they charged me extra for smoked salmon for 4.50 this is how thin the extra salmon for that charge was. The 2 workers threaten me to leave because I said I was disappointed and dissatisfied with the upcharge of salmon I paid for razor thin!! For 4.50 upcharge
Amazing sushi, always great experience.Prices are fair for the quality of food.Recommend: Lava roll, Lion king roll.
Just saw this place after making a Starbucks purchase. Wish I saw this place first because they have BOBBA TEA!! The young lady at the register is very sweet and friendly. Service was super fast! Clean place. I ordered to go to eat it on the ferry. First time here and will definitely return. Great food and service! Reasonably priced menu.
Basic hole in the hall vibe... Very filling... nice portion sizes...5 to 10 minute wait and I was surprised considering how many people were in and out ... I spent $43 with tip on two combo plates with 2 side orders... 2 cans of soda (parking is hard to find... Parking is weird... I just parked right in front, but I dont think it was the right spot.... Update: food was good, but I thought they would put soy sauce and siracha on the side...I did not think to ask... Food needed seasoning it was very bland. Even the kimchee which was fresh...I like that part!
Excellent sushi. Presentation & quality of ingredients, both equally excellent
Umami kitchen is well rated so we decided we’d give it a try. Charitably, it tasted like on sale H Mart.We picked up our order since there doesn’t appear to be indoor dining. We ordered kimchi, beef bulgogi, a spicy California roll, and a tiger eye roll. The tiger eye roll was the best part: crunchy and savory. The spicy California roll was OK; I’ve had significantly better from Fred Meyer. The bulgogi was dry and reminiscent of an on sale, end of day H Mart bulgogi. The kimchi was also dry but at least crunchy. While it was edible, it wasn’t an experience I’d pay $42.32 for again. There were plenty of leftovers and we ended up throwing most of the food away.I’ll retry Umami Kitchen if it remains well rated, but it’ll be a year or so. I’m disappointed.
This is a really well run family business with an awesome menu and quality food. Ive known the owner for years and hes a hard working very good guy and Im glad to see that he and his restaurant is doing well. Give this place a visit!!
Delicious. Bulgogi and some K-Chicken special, cant beat it. Place an order on the ferry, then pick it up when you disembark! What a beautiful world!
We ordered the veggie bibimbap and the Korean BBQ chicken for lunch - sooooo good. The portion size was enormous, we had enough for dinner! The chicken was perfectly crunchy, and the sauce for the bibimbap was excellent.I only wished I had asked for an extra sauce- for the portion size I needed another, but I will be back! 😋
I purchased 2 volcano rolls and was double charged. I returned to the restaurant later that same day showed them what happened, and requested a refund of $23.96. My request was denied and the owner did nothing to resolve the issue. I am now working with my credit card company to retract the duplicate charge. Confirm your charged amount if eating here!
Do NOT eat here. Not worth the money and you will most likely get food poisoning. My wife has been throwing up and having diarrhea all night.
Really quick to make our order yummy rolls, but the miso soup was a bit of a disappointment. I would recommend the add seaweed &/or mushrooms slices
The food is consistently delicious! Ive tried 4-5 various dishes and theyve all met our exceeded my expectations for Asian food!
So delicious!! I highly recommend. I got the chicken bibimbop and gyoza.
Great portions, quality, and price. Kimchi fried rice was delicious, even the fried egg on top was the most perfect egg Ive ever seen.
Order the chicken yakisoba, the next day I had the worst food poisoning I’ve had in a while. Ever since covid the cleanliness and service has gone down hill. I do not recommend eating here.
This is our go-to place for sushi rolls. The fish is fresh and the fried fish isnt too greasy, and the rice isnt too vinegary or mushy. The only other non-sushi roll menu item weve tried is the takoyaki, which is pretty legit. Weve tried other local sushi roll spots and this is still our favorite place.
Its pretty good. Their rolls are a good combination of flavors and textures. I usually go for the crazy combos and I havent been displeased with any of the ones Ive tried. Their takoyaki is also decent considering its takeout and bound to get soggy. All in all a nice option for lazy evenings in Bremerton.
I’ve been traveling up here for work lately and have been here twice. The ramen and edamame were amazing, but this go around, I had the Mix Poki Donburi and had an out of body experience. I can’t put into words how incredible this thing was. I dreamt about it. I need more. I’m craving it while typing this. And to top it all off, they give you a fortune cookie as a treat. If I’m ever up here again, I know exactly where I’m going.
Recently moved away from Bremerton, and finding myself missing this place, maybe the most, besides my mountains and the water everywhere. I’ve had a lot of different dishes, I think my favorites are the bibim bap and various sushis. Highly recommend! Please, y’all, please patronize this place, so when I come visit, it’ll still be there. You won’t be disappointed with the food or the people!
Food was great. I highly recommend the special duk item (spicy rice and fish cakes). The premium sushi rolls seem like a cop-out as most are just covered california rolls. Also $3 for a soda can of green tea seems a little spendy for take-out.
The noodles were dry and didn’t look as advertised. There was very little flavor and the beef was really gross with big chunks of fat on it. I got the beef yakisoba. Don’t recommend.
This place was so good. I’m from Spokane and after a long drive to Bremerton, food from here just hit the spot. The couple working was so kind and so nice!! Missing you guys all the way from Spokane. We will most definitely be planning a trip back just to ensure we get some of your food.
I need an intervention! Somebody please make me stop ordering Umami Kitchens bibimbap! It is so tasty, takes me right back to my years in Korea. I think Ive gotten it at least five times in the last month and a half. The bulgogi and kimchi are really good, too. I havent explored the rest of the menu much, because I always want the bibimbap. Highly recommended!
Umami is the name of their kitchen and umami is the guaranteed flavor youre destined to enjoy at this dockside restaurant. Sushi, Miso, Poke, and so much more on menu. Completed by affordable prices, phenomenal tastes, and a take out swiftness that will beckon you back for more~
Not sure if there was a change in owner based on last years reviews, but the food was really greasy. The Korean chicken was kind of soggy, not crispy. The flavor was good, but the grease of the whole meal made everything unbalanced. The spam fried rice was also extremely oily. The fried rice seemed to have been cooked in too much spam fat, while the chicken was closer to General Tsaos chicken than Korean Fried Chicken. Okay for those who like general Chinese food.
I lived in Japan for several years and their yakisoba is delicious. Just the right amount of sweetness. Highly recommend, they also have the square app for payment which is very useful. Will continue to go here.
I found myself with nothing to do for a bit, and decided to come here to further my Ramen experience. This is a small, quaint little place with a clean interior. The ordering process was a bit confusing at first, as you order at the register kind of like a fast food place, but the menus are actual physical menus like at a sit down place. The cashier was very friendly.I ordered the Tonkatsu Ramen and asked if it could be extra spicy, but the chef said that he doesnt add spice but would give me some spices on the side so I can set my own spice level, He said he wanted to preserve the flavor of the Ramen. I appreciated that. The food came out fast and piping hot. He included a small bowl of a dry spice mix and then another bowl of some chili paste. To be fair, I wanted to try it before I did any messing around with the spices. It was pretty good. It wasnt as packed full of veggies as Ive seen in my one other experience and the pork was just OK. Overall, it was pretty good. I did end up adding just one tiny spoonful of the dry spice mix he gave me and it really did change the entire profile of the dish, I can see why hed rather let the customer do that part. It was really good after that, and it was just the right amount of spice. The prices were all very fair as well. Im not completely familiar yet with prices of food in the area yet, but it didnt seem too expensive to me.I saw a lot of people coming in for takeout as well, so they seem pretty popular with the people working/living in the surrounding downtown area.Three stars = A-OKGo check them out!
Acceptable atmosphere. The sushi rolls were made very quickly, and it filled a very large white plate! Would recommend for a quick bite if youre waiting for a ferry or just wanting to join some quality soosh!~Cashier was kind of difficult to communicate because of language barriers.
Kimchee fried rice was superb😋 Excellent service😊 Overall I give them a 10 out of 10👍
I couldnt tell you because twice I have tried to stop by while close to Umani for other reasons. Unfortunately they are closed for several hours every day in the afternoon so I have missed them both times. I am not a big fan of restaurants that are closed between lunch and dinner rushes.Updated: We enjoyed the selection and the quality. It is a good place to enjoy a sushi roll.
Reliable source of Americanized sushi and Korean items. Limited menu; no alcohol. Pretty quick and good for takeout. Very polite service. Recommended if you are getting off/on the ferry and would like a sushi/bowl-style Korean fix and dont have time or transportation for something more elaborate.
Walking around Bremerton and literally stumbled into this place. So much more than a "Hole in the Wall", amazing food, super friendly and helpful staff.Perfect size portions too not over the top. Everything was so flavourful from the Kimchi, to Yakisoba and the Chicken Katsu Udon we could find no fault. It was absolutely perfect
The waitress was phenomenal and although our order was mixed up they compensated us by giving us lots of free sushi. The calamari was a bit chewy and overcooked however the sushi was amazing! Absolutely worth walking in, please tip your waitresses!
Service was fast. Staff was friendly. Sushi was comparable to Trappers Sushi but half the cost. We had Lava Roll, Dragon Roll, and California roll. Bonus, their water (self-serve onlywas infused with lemon. We will be back to try more! They do have dine-in as well as grab-and-go for those quick lunch breaks. Street parking only. A minute walk from the ferries.
We went here for dinner tonight and the three sushi rolls we got were amazing! The price is great too. The service was friendly. They have little seating there but there was plenty while we were there. Definitely recommend this place!!!
Good food, staff was friendly and helpful. I had the spicy California roll and it was spicy than others I have had in the past but it was good, not overwhelming. The kids really enjoyed the food as well. Its a small place but enjoyable.
The place is very tasty and if you have cucumber allergies or an allergy to some sort of food they will take that food out of the food.
Great spot to get sushi or ramen before getting on the ferry or just when you are down town! The food is beautiful and delicious!
Smaller menu, but the options are great. Also if you have allergies they will also work with you too. Its a great place and can only get better with time. Highly recommend this be the place to stop by for some in town sushi.
Food quality was excellent, but selection was minimal. I had the gyoza, tonkatsu ramen and a rainbow roll which were all delicious. The restaurant is small, and I dont recommend it for large groups. Staff is friendly. Overall a very good experience.
Very tasty little corner asian food place. I eat here 2-3 times a week for lunch. Very polite staff. Personally recommend the Korean BBQ chicken and rice. The sushi is good as well. Decor is a bit lacking but not bad.
I have only recently started to eat raw sushi and I really enjoyed the options available here. The way the restaurant works by you choosing the items on the menu you want at the counter and paying, then getting served. It seems that it is setup this way perhaps because there are only two people working (For what Ive seen so far). They make your dish once you order it and Its absolutely delicious.
My sister and I love coming here for lunch. The Korean food here is amazing and the presentation of the food always looks wonderful. As someone whose been to Japan before, the Japanese food here, especially the ramen and sushi are outstanding. One of my favorite places in Downtown!
Super good, high-quality sushi for not a ton of money. I ordered 2 maki rolls & a miso - the rolls were bigger than expected so now I have lunch for tomorrow. Friendly staff. Will be back!
Great Food! Great Prices! Will be back for sure.
