My biggest complaint would be how overpriced Ujeong KBBQ is. The food is decent and the service is great but, having had many experiences in KBBQs in Seattle, the price left me feeling like I wasnt getting enough for what I was paying for. Granted, getting quality meats might be a challenge here on the island but it still feels more like a novelty than a local restaurant where financial accessibility means you can stop by any time. Ive also read some of the comments, and although I agree that customers shouldnt mess with the equipment if asked not to, if a customer requests for a change of hot plates, then it should be done and seeing some of the replies from Ujeong is a cause for some mild concern.Ultimately Id say, if you want your moneys worth, Ujeong probably isnt for you (and before I get yelled at about "quality food costs more", Ive been to plenty of all you can eat kbbqs with excellent food quality where the prices were essentially the same as Ujeong for 2 people), and if you want the experience for the heck of it due to the lack of other kbbqs on the island, then go for it because as I mentioned before, the food is indeed decent and the service doesnt disappoint, but just expect to leave with your wallet a bit lighter than when you walked in.

Yesterday I visited the restaurant and when I entered the host super friendly and very warm welcome. When we sit down, about 5 minutes pass, almost forgotten. Then a waitress arrives and gives us a brief information about the concept, since it is the first time. Still a little lost we continue looking at the menu after a while she comes back and order her a kimchi soup and a beer. Then they spend about 10 minutes on this at the bar and the entrance of the place, the employees playing and hitting each other, with no professional ethics. No one makes eye contact with customers. After the show, another person arrives and introduces himself as the waiter and tells us the same thing as the one who I think was the bartender. There we ordered the sirloin Korean grill, we ordered some pork and kimchi dumpling, that I have really tasted better and they didnt have kimchi. After a while the waiter arrives with the meat, turns on the "grill" and throws the meat without making any orientation of the product or the terms of how we like the meat cook. He didnt guide us on how the food products that he put in various dishes are used for . I super nice ask him questions and try to make it more interactive with the procedure. Thats what it lends itself to! He basically mutilates the meat on the grill and then doesnt find the scissors for a while so he can chop it. Me still trying to understand the concept, he finally tries to find it and makes us a mincemeat of the sirloin. After this the soup arrives (very good), the flavors are there in the meat but overcooked. After a while we ordered the spicy margarita and it had nothing spicy. In front of us a couple sat down and we saw how the same waiter mutilated the salmon that I almost cried, because the fillets came out super cute. I took time to write all this because I think this space has a lot of potential. If the people in charge take the time to train and organize their team. Host and those who collected the plates at the end are the only ones who make sense. Much success I hope you can take this in a positive way to improve.

I was pleasantly surprised! We ordered the Chicken Bulgogi and at first I was not sure how it would taste. However, it was a magnificent choice. At first glance it looked like the portions were small, but it was definitely satisfying. Its a very similar setup to other restaurants in the US. The servers were very attentive and even helped with the meal cooking.Overall this a place that I will definitely be coming back to.Some of the surrounding areas may seem dirty on the side streets, but the restaurant is immaculate. I highly recommend this place for experiencing a good Korean meal.

Great location and atmosphere. As far as the food thats a different story Ive been to a lot of Korean restaurants in New York City. The food here is overpriced and below average quality its the type of food you would find at cheap buffet restaurant. Its a shame because this place has potential. They need to hire an actual Korean chef to make the food. This is definitely not authentic Korean. With what I paid for here I couldve gotten a much larger portions and better quality in New York City.

✨🔥It was extremely good and flavorful. For my first time dining Korean food, I had an explosion on my tastebuds… Also, I wouldn’t sleep on their kimchi, really helped me with my sinus problem, and gave me a lot of energy! Blessed be UJEONG!🔥✨

First Korean BBQ experience we had and it was good. After being seated we were kind of forgotten and had to stop a server to ask for menu. After that the service was fine. Food had good flavor but for the price the portions were small. Including the Bubble Tea. We enjoyed it because it was our first experience but will not be returning any time soon.

I’m Asian, and I have to say the food is not Korean -relative at all. I don’t know if it’s because we didn’t order any bbq but just some dishes. I feel sad for Korean people.

The "mar y tierra" was delicious! A beautifully marbled ribeye sided with baby octopus. As an appetizer the korean wings with ginger honey. Highly recommended!

The worse Korean bbq ever. 60 dollars for a small bowl of meat… super not worth it! And taste so bad…. I don’t recommend anyone to eat here.

Overrated! No good customer service (at least when I went). Not a Korean BBQ, just the concept, but no flavor at all. The wings were bland and without flavor, and the rice was also flat. The restaurant look nice, but it is small. The cocktails were good. Hard to find a parking.

The servers were so courteous and attentive. The taste of the food was good, however it would be amazing if the menu was expanded to include more meats and sides. Also adding meat combos for families. I loved the taste of the kimchi!I agree with many reviewers saying its overpriced. The portions which are for "two" were pretty small for their price. Was shocked me specially was that you had to pay the extra for more rice, and the rice that was included was so little for the amount of meat we ordered. Ive been to several korean spots that extra rice is included and every single person gets their own rice bowl. Here however it was a small single bowl for us to pass around.I really have to comment on the rice. The grains were very separated and hard to grab with chopsticks. Korean rice is supposed to be sticky.Overall had a good experience as one of the only korean bbqs in PR. There are still improvements to be made, just like any starting restaurant.

Expensive and takes for ever to get your food.Plus the bring the sides and like and hour later the meat like nobody wants to eat half the food first and the other and hour later. But still is the only korean bbq experience that I have found in Puerto Rico

Its the second time Ive come to this restaurant with my girlfriend and so far the food and service have been really good. We both like spicy food and the kimchi related meals have been really good. Today was really full but our food still arrived in a timely manner. So far so good.

It is very impresive to find a korean bbq in PR, definitely exciting, but that is it. The food taste so american, the jajangmyeon tastes like ketchup or bbq sauce, not even sure they used jajang black beans paste for it, the meat the vegetables is like a mix out of a bag of prep bought in a supermarket prearrange. The soup no flavor. Not to be said that the place had two tables on my visit so I beleive it can explain why. If you have try real korean food which I might have not also, this is not the place. I beleive if you try the bbq and grill your own meat like in the traditional korean bbqs you might have a better experience.

This time didn’t take pictures. I was so hungry and excited to eat at this place and I was in good company so… I apologize!!We order the buns, sweet potato noddles and Balbi. OMG!! Every dish was so tasty we were sitting dancing of deliciousness!! We’re coming back for sure and nonetheless the service was impeccable, all the staff friendly, new the menu. I recommend going early to enjoy the place and take the time necessary to have a good meal.

Told us the to wait 40 minutes to get a table which we didn’t have any problem with so they told us they would call us after the 40 minutes wait. After waiting MORE than 40 minutes we didn’t get any call so we went back to check and they told us to wait 20 minutes fore which we again waited patiently but 20 minutes passed and nothing. So we went back again because maybe they forgot but then they told us they still didn’t have any tables available. Apart from that at least the lady who was in charge of getting us our table was kind but still one of the worst experiences I had.

I went because I had been to several korean bbq restaurants in US and they were so delicious. All of them combined would not match the absurd prices on this one. The waiter insisted we order things we didnt want and we later saw that these were the most expensive. He offered a $20 mushroom dish that is not on the menu and when the bill came it was $35, for some chopped up uncooked mushrooms with a sweet ginger sauce. Then asked us to give him the tip in cash because if not he would not get it from the manager. The food tasted good. Bibimbap is almos what you would cook at home: white rice, fried egg, onions, cucumber, yes the kimchi was good, but ripe plantains?! And not in a stone plate, but a regular one. Everything was already cold when they brought it :-( In conclusion, its just another really overpriced restaurant for the food you get. Ofcourse the owners have the right to put the prices they want. But because of this, the uncomfortable waiter situation, and the 2 hours waiting time (we left because they said they would call us, but they never did so we just came back), I cant recommend or would want to return.

Highly disappointed.. this place is very expensive, and the prices are highly misleading.. For the shareable plates, the meats give the exact prices of what they are, and the seafoods don’t. For example, we ordered ribeye which said $60, and shrimp which said +5, and the shrimp turned out to be $55.. we only ordered it because of the menu price.Another problem was we asked if they needed to change our burner plates and they said no. They didn’t put any oil on it or something to prevent the food from sticking or burning. But the moment we put our meats on it, it picked up burnt metal from the plates before it could even cook and we had the fire turned all the way down. We showed them and asked for the meat to be replaced and the manager avoided us like the plague. The server who barely knew English but was extremelyyy sweet kept apologizing and said if he cooked it they could replace it, but we did it so basically no. We didn’t even get enough for what we paid for to begin with. But if you insist on going the only thing I’d say that was worth it was the Korean bbq chicken appetizer. In total we got a shareable plate of shrimp, ribeye, and Korean bbq chicken as an app, and waters, and paid nearly $200 .. and I’m from NYC and I’ve never complained about the prices of Korean spots, so I feel like that’s saying something. Thank goodness for the nice server, it’s only reason they get two stars.

Spotted this spot out of nowhere and decided to check it out.Service was top tier. The waiter answered any questions we had and recommended good menus. Food was great as well. Marination was done well and authentic as well. The kimchi flavors were kept authentic and it showed through their Kimchi Fried Rice. It did not feel like they compromised much in flavors. In comparison, the choices in ingredients were more fusion oriented - for example rice was served as Jasmine rice, not sticky rice. However it did not diminish the experience but turned it into something different. Overall I had a great time and will come back here next time 👍

A rare find, this Korean BBQ place should be at the top of your list of places to try. Its a fun and delicious experience! The meat is portioned for two people, so you will need to agree with your dinner date on which one you want, or go with a group and get a variety. We had the cream cheese Manchu appetizer ($13), the beef bulgogi meat ($45), and Korean fried rice with a fried egg on top ($18). Non-alcoholic drinks were $3/each and we shared a bubble tea ($7). Overall the meal for two was about $90. It might be a little pricey to be your go-to for date night, but its definitely worth checking out.

Quick review: great service, food was good but from one Korean to another, it’s not the traditional Korean taste you’re hoping for.Long review: Every server there was not only SO SWEET but they checked in and helped in every way. I couldn’t say enough about how wonderful the experience was as I waited for my pickup. (I got there too early and had to wait for like 20/30 mins)I called in my order without getting to see the menu so I posted it to help others. The person who answered the phone was SO helpful, great English and helped even tho I never saw a menu 😂I’m a Korean, that lives in Chicago part time, with family in DC and Cali. I go to Korea to see family every year and I cook Korean for myself at home......so with that being said, is this place delicious? Yes!Is it “real Korean food”, no.The bulgogi (beef bbqis hands down the best I’ve ever tasted. Ever. My bf and I couldn’t stop talking about how much we loved it. Not Korean flavors but tasty.Kimbap, the faux sushi rolls. That is rice, cooked meat and veggies. I tried the meat version but would definitely do the original instead. Eat it with some kimchi or dip it in the Tteokboki sauce. The tteokboki (rice cakes in spicy red sauceis interesting. It’s good but isn’t the traditional dish I expected. The sauce is like a sweeter, thicker tomato sauce. From experiencing local dishes here in general, I have gathered that spicy things aren’t popular. So it makes sense that you would cater to the locals with a less spicy, more sweeter, version. It’s covered with cheese* and there’s no fish cakes.*the trend with putting cheese on Korean street food started with the American soldiers would “Americanize” their kimchi fried rice, soups and ramyun. Look up “Budae Jjigae” aka the “Army Base Stew”Kimchi jjigae, the kimchi soup is like your grandmas chicken soup recipe. The ingredients are simple and similar but every family recipe has its own special flavor and twist. This one in particular was maybe a little too much ginger for me. (I’ve never had a version like this)The kimchi isn’t traditional. Heavy on ginger. It was intense in other flavors, but not that deep fermented pepper flavor I need. (Comparing to what I usually eat in the US/Korea)Still on the hunt for real kimchi on the island and that’s okay 🥰

Was expecting OK and found AMAZING!!!What a welcome great surprise to go to restaurant expecting a reasonable facsimile of what you already know and being hit by the reality that is more than you expected in every single way. You see, last week we tried to visit this restaurant for the first time but when we arrived it was a 45-to-60-minute wait. In the world of COVID I don’t wait, specially when the waiting is on the sidewalk of Loiza St., so we left. Yesterday I decided to give it a second chance and boy was I glad!!!1st, no waiting, and the service. From the second we were inside, the service was top notch, all smiles and ready to serve. The look of the place is elegant but welcoming, you do not feel you need to dress up for a meal but if you do this is the right place. We were sat in the table in the middle of the restaurant and were happy of how the whole social distancing was not an excuse not to receive great service. Beautiful décor.2nd, the food. This is when it gets good!!! If you are familiar with Korean BBQ, you have some expectations. Well, those were met and surpassed in every way. We began with some appetizers, Tteokboki, rice cakes with the consistency of pasta dumplings in spicy sauce and the Kimchi soup, that soup alone, the spices, that got my taste buds racing. If you like spicy and are in a rush, order one with the accompanying steamed white rice and you are good to go. The we went for the Korean BBQ. The portions are made for two regular people to share the food, we are not regular people, so we ordered three of the plates, Bulgogi, sliced sirloin marinated in homemade sauce, the Brisket thin rolled peaces of beef only seasoned with salt and pepper and Samqyeopsal, pork belly slices in the perfect ratio of meat and fat and my favorite!!!! Everything comes small plates of condiments like kimchi (homemade), tofu in pesto, pineapple, etc., all nice complements to beef. Finally, we had an order of the Korean fried rice with no proteins but all the spice in the world. It was a lot of food, maybe a little to ambitious but those flavors!!!!! We made space and devoured that meal.I almost forgot, dessert. We had the Korean Honey Brick, Holy Sh**!!!!! that is a diabetic final request.... Not too sweet, firm pieces of bread with cream in the middle with light caramel on top. WOW!!!!I’m not going to get into how a Korean BBQ works, you can google that. All I have to say is that if you are curious about food from another part of the world and love a good hearty meal you must go there. If you have questions about the food or the way BBQ works you can ask the staff, they are all ready to provide help and answers to your questions. So how was the food in general, awesome. The beef was so tender and juicy. Those condiments enhance the flavors, and the appetizers are enough reason to return, that soup!!!!!!In conclusion, from Wednesday to Sunday run to Loiza St. be patient trying to get a parking spot and the prepare yourself for a meal that you will not forget in while but will want to go back for seconds, and thirds too…LOVE UJEONG KOREAN BBQ!!!!!!!!

I visited this restaurant Saturday, January 26. Since we were a large group of 13, we made reservation a week ahead. (7 of the people in the party have eaten their way thru South Korea 😁). When we arrived, the table was set up and waiting for us. The staff on hand and the owners were AMAZING. Some of the side dishes are not what we were used to in S.K. The portions were not Korean size. BUT everything was delicious. The japchae, the pajeon and the banchan were yummy. In the banchan, we asked for bulgogi, t-bone steak and brisket. It was prepared to our taste at our table. We had a wonderful time and enjoyed our meal. We will be returning in the near future.

Overall only the meat was good but the price suck why the service is slow like hell and I would undestand is the chef is a great cooker but nop the kimchijige was bland and it was not kimchi the Mandu was bland and i hate it. Soo to much price for a food that is no delicious. Korean food is savory it go hot sweet salty and stasty. This is not korean this is only a grill meat store.

Had a delicious, satisfying dinner with my family consisting of steamed beef dumplings, chikin bulgogi, tea. Blue mini lights, Asian paper lamps, heavy wooden tables, and friendly staff provided a pleasant, welcoming atmosphere. They learned about my kids music craze, and played their K-pop playlist. A very happy evening for us.

It was very disappointed. First, their schedule online is not their real one. We wait 3 hours for them to open. You can reserved a table but it does not compensated the time we have to wait. They do not have authentic korean chefs and they take the recipes from the internet. The portions they served are an insult for the price of $35. Their meat is not the best and quantity does not reach even for one person. We were three and we order just one bulgogi bbq to try it out with the thought that it was going to be enough for at least two persons since the waitress told us that the portion was for two. We end up eating the side dishes and asking for them every five minutes since they served you only one little bowl of rice for the whole table. Everything was on little baby portions. Not even for one person an order will cease you hunger a little. We were planning on spending but after that first order and for the price we decide to leave and eat at another place. We order one order of dumplings (5piecesand one order of bulgogi bbq and we spend $60. Not even on USA. Over there we spend less and we eat more much good than we did on this restaurant. Not worth it. Never again.
