Family-run eatery offering vegetarian South Indian specialties in modest surrounds.
I don’t understand why this place has really less ratings, I ordered the gongura dosa and it was spicy and really good. 100% recommend!!!
Really good home style crispy dosa and sambhar. It was fresh and hot. Please work on cleanliness and presentations, it can easily become go to place for south Indian food
I would recommend this place. The food is great and tasted home cooked. The sambar was the best Ive had in a while. The environment is peaceful and calm.
Oil used for cooking is aweful smelling so badly, wish they cleanup the premise and lit the place more and use healthy cooking medium, service was very homely if only they change ambience, neatness and cooking oil for good
This is by far the Healthiest south Indian you will find in the Bay Area. The Ugadi Bhojanam Thali is a MUST-HAVE
Very average food.Taste is average and service can get a lot better.I ordered for a thaali and the items are heated before serving.
This is an absolute waste of money. They won’t serve water until asked. And the water tastes absurd. Their rava dosas smell oil and tastes very bad. Do not even dare to go into their restrooms. Their preference is to get the catering orders out for their front Ulavacharu.
Okay food. Place needs to be kept clean and presentable. Had Ragi (finger milletDosa, which was dry.
If you want to succeed in fasting go to this place for dinner. You will be able to fast for 16 hours easy, skipping your dinner.
The lady taking the orders was confused.didnt even know where the restroom was.The other guy who was serving was coughing.the food was cold and not tasty.chapati was not cooked properly.too much aata and thick.dal was ok but cold.curd was spoilt, very sour and smelled bad.please stay away from this restaurant.
This place is a gem. I usually dont take out time to add a review. The dosa here was perfect - crispy on the outside without being greasy, while being so smooth and soft on the inside that it melts when you eat. There were two chutneys - both out of the world! The coconut chutney had a subtle spiciness rather than being bland as I found at other places in the bay.Again, the tables might be greasy and the place might not seem as good as the bigger restaurants, but the food compensates for much more than that. This was my first time here, would return again for sure. The 3.9 rating on maps is deceiving.Edit: the place is good and I added 2 reviews at different times for it. But I also found a few of my later visits to be quite dissatisfactory. The dosa, chutneys and sambar, all were poor. So, it is a hit and miss. I hope the consistency is revived later.
[Latest Jun 30 2022]Today, I came here to have dinner. First of all, this place now looks deserted. I ordered an appetizer and they brought in a different one. When asked, the lady in the kitchen says “What’s wrong, this one also is good !”. Well, I suppose they need to bring us what we’ve ordered instead of what they want us to eat, isn’t it?Second, this place is very unhygienic. There are flies constantly buzzing around your table and food. When I informed the staff about cleanliness they simply moved us to another table to where, the flies have followed us. The staff didn’t even bother to spray and clean the table. Horrendous violation of food safety and hygiene.Third, I ordered ‘Ugadi Bhojanam’ Thali and a Mysore masala dosa. They brought in a platter of curries, rice and roti in a big plate and except for rice everything else is cold. The curries were stale. After having the food, within 3-4 hours I started feeling uneasy in stomach and got diarrhea! And I clearly know that this happened from eating the stale food from this place. This is a very serious violation of health and food safety and I’m going to lodge a complaint.I request, by all means, beware of this place. It is definitely not the one like I had earlier and has much degraded in quality of food and service—————————————————————-This was is [2019]:Excellent South Indian style vegetarian food. Decent service and courteous staff. Thali is awesome and the best part is it is unlimited. Rice and Curries are refilled. All the items are fresh and just feels like homely food. Especially the tomato rasam is superb.. overall it is the best meal within a reasonable price.
We have had thali and it is not up to the mark. The desert is missing from my thali and also the fried bajji is cold and pretty sure taken directly from the fridge
After getting back from a long travel, we checked in for lunch as it showed closes @ 10pm. Only to find out from the kitchen help ( who speaks no language except Telguthat the place is closed. Desperate we had to go hunting for another Indian( read South Indianrestaurant. At least the hotel should upgrade the website with correct description of availability n timings!
[Edit:] Recently went in just before closing hours at night. The staff was warm, friendly and provided excellent service even though it was late in the day. Ordered the paratha combo and it was delicious with hot lachha parathas - one of the best Ive tasted in a long time. Theyre also vegan friendly and offer a Vegan Bhojanam Thali.
Cheap no-frills Andhra meals if youre craving something close to homemade food.
Be careful about getting double charged for your order if youre ordering online for pick up. You might have to go through the bank to get your money back which is why I gave 3 rating. Otherwise, food was good.
It’s a perfect place for South Indian Thali at a best price . It’s a wonderful experience for me give it a try.
Two dishes at lunch...Thali and tomato chilli dosa. Both fantastic! Calm place with no wait time and prompt service. 👍
I visit here regularly. I like their vegetarian thali, their food is very homely and they dont have any restrictions on refills.
Horrible experience! There was no sambar masala in sambar. It was just plain dal and some vegetables. Dosa was hard to chew. We had to cancel rest of the orders after tasting first dish.Items from menu were not available. They only had the old menus. No ventilation, receipt printing machine was not working.
Not a good restaurant . They will charge you for something thats not even there in the actual meal . Lousy place to eat , food is also ok-ish nothing great. Just a bunch of cheap people who have set up a lousy restaurant - at least dont be greedy and be fair with your customers !
Im supposed to be grateful to have south indian options at all, but this restaurant has such really bad tasting food, it wouldnt even qualify as food. They are parading as "Indian Veg House" on food delivery app and I ordered the thali. Everything was stale, had a horrible sour taste. My guess is seems like the oil was stale. I got sick after eating a bite.
Avoid this place even if you extremely hungry !! Basic courtesy of any restaurant is to offer you a table and get water and cups. But there we had a person staring at us for 10 mins before giving us a table. After ordering food, we were served cold curries. When we sent back the food, the lady from inside comes and apologizes that the new waitresses did not turn on the stove... seriously !! If there was a negative rating, i would have given for their hopeless customer service. 1 star is just for the taste of food.
Dont try their Veg Thali it is not good and waste of moneyAfter having food from here was sick for couple days. For the same cost of Thali you can have better quality food at other places. I felt most of the curries were stale and cold.
Great (unlimitedThali option for $12.99 which is a good deal in the Bay area. However, they are a small restaurant and have a mediocre service and ambience.
Went for lunch on Saturday with a plan of having Vegetarian Thali.Parking: Enough parking spaces in common parking space.Food: ordered veg. thali with roti & puri. Service is lil bit delay & also missed few items like papad, roti & water. We enquired and we got all the items.Taste: It’s Okay not so good.Ambience: Okay, Workers noise is disturbing restaurants atmosphere some lady and manager they are arguing with workers and they are speaking very loud. No proper restaurant atmosphere. Conclusion: I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. However, It’s depends on persons experience & perspective. My experience with this restaurant is bad.
I wouldnt recommend this place for Indian food ! We ordered rava dosa and masala dosa ! They took almost 20 mins and more to serve and there were hardly 2 other families at that hour , apart from us . The lady who took my order came back after 15 mins asking if I needed rava masala or plain? Like seriously ? And also heard them argue about my order inside the kitchen ! Yes " that loud "And after all that wait we get a dry undercooked rava dosa which turned like papad brittle after 2 mins ! I wouldnt go back here
DO NOT come here if you are hungry. We went on a Thursday evening and our group of four was the only customers there. It still took them about 40 minutes to get us the food. One of us ordered the Thali and at least two items were missing from it, and they didnt comp us for it. Food quality was below par and we had to ask multiple times for some items to be delivered. Would not recommend
I never left a restaurant after ordering the food.Worst service. We ordered a tiffin thali and we were severed frozen cut mirchi. We have requested for a chutney for our sambhar idly and this is what they gave us.I should have looked at the recent reviews before visiting this placePlease do not visit this place.
This place serves thali. Its like home made food. The thali was very average. Everything tasted average or below average. Only their sheera was way beyond my expectation. If I ever go back here to eat, it will be that sheera only. The aunty who takes order here was really sweet and the other staff was also very polite. The sambhar vada was also very average. They need to place sugar bottles on every table. Add more spoons per table.I wont recommend this place unless you dont have any other options available for eating. (Which I doubt).
Went here with high expectations because if their reviews. First of all they need to clean their tables. The surface is so sticky as if those were not cleaned in ages. Secondly I highly recommend - dont go here for Dosas. Highly disappointed. Dosas were burnt - i ordered 3 of them and honestly will not go here again. quantity of sambar and chutneys was very less and no kne came and asked if i need anything else.
Total disappointment. Not at all tasty - dosa wasn’t cooked well and Sambar tasted very bland. They definitely need to up the game.P.S: Do not order tomato-chilli Dosa.
Okay, so I have taken off a star because cleanliness and service wise they could do a little better. Service wasn’t bad, it was just slow. The older gentleman serving us was really sweet. The food was very authentic and delicious South Indian food. I would recommend this place for the food alone!! We ordered the Thali in the picture. Finger licking good food!
Loved the thali. Very authentic South Indian food. Amazing taste and quality. So many varieties and it feels like homemade food. Must try if you are a vegeterian and are craving for south indian food. Service was quick and ambience was pretty clean.
A very authentic south Indian spot! The food was both interesting and tasty. I highly recommend it.
Food was good, but there is no one to take order or serve food. The aunty in the kitchen was handling the kitchen, taking orders and serving.Unlimited thali felt like a burden for the if asking for second serving. Even the thali had some items missing, so they dont care to see if the thali has all the items that they are serving. It is authentic telugu food. Go try if you have the patience and dont mind this kind of service.
Best place to have unlimited veg thali .. poori and roti is heaven.. less spicy but homely taste.. if I search for a homely food its the best..
Wow, Ive really never had thalis before and came here because I saw great Yelp reviews and I wasnt disappointed! I came here at around 8 pm on a Wednesday night and didnt have to wait at all and was seated in a group of 7 at a nice table in the back.Food: I got the first thali option with the unlimited option. It was actually a huge amount of food and I basically didnt need to get second helpings. I loved that they gave us roti to dip all of the sauces and food in and it was really a good amount of food! I was terribly full afterwards but super super happy. I havent had much Southern Indian food before so it added to the experience and I really did like the way that it was so family style.Service: Theres not many people helping out in the restaurant but they came by fairly often to check in on us and make sure that we had all of the food and that we got second helpings.Ambiance: Super casual and kind of run down venue, but it feels very homey and very kitchen-esque.Overall loved the unique food experience and would come again! Super cheap and affordable too.
The dosas are very good. The Kara Masala Dosa and Uthappam were very tasty! Coconut chutney was a great accompaniment! Definitely among the authentic ones in the area!Improvements: the peanut chutney didnt have a strong peanut taste. Seemed diluted or it had something else that had reduced the peanut flavor! The Punugulu could also have been better!Overall a great food experience!Service is quite good too. Informal and laid-back!
Simple restaurant with a one page menu. Had the unlimited Thali, of which the first serving itself is more than you can handle. Includes all items you can imagine. Puri, rice, dal, sambar, rasam, aloo, paneer, gulab jamun, papad, curd and chutney. A tasty and filling meal.
Epic vegan thali. The flavors were fantastic, the service was fast and courteous. Great prices, big portions. Im glad we found this place!
A traditional vegetarian South Indian affair. A quiet homely ambience greets you at Ugadi. We tried out the Ugadi bhojanam, which is an all you can eat unlimited thali (plate meals). The thali had two curries, a dal, sambhar, rasam and a spicy lentil soup. It was also served along with plain rice, fresh chutney, roti, curd and a sweet. All the dishes were tasty and home-like.
Their meals are awesome (but they make them a bit watery during the weekends to meet the demands I guess :). The staff here are very friendly and they serve food pretty quickly. Also Guntur Mirchi Bajji and Cut Mirchi are awesome a must try here. Great spot to grab snacks and chai in the evening.Weekends are super crowded and so be prepared to wait a while before you get a table.
Tastes just like home food! Unlimited food! The staff is nice and always checks on you if you need anything. A must go place for its simple, vegetarian & Andhra style food!
Very fresh food, homemade feeling.. Best thalis, even kids eat up without complaining..
Went on a weekday afternoon for lunch. Place was calm, not too crowded, very polite waitress. Nice food. But felt it was little expensive for the items served. Other than that felt great. Clean and good seating. Didn’t take very long for us to get served.
Finally a mom and pop restaurant run by two great people. Homely taste, I just felt like my moms food. Service is okay. You just have to treat this place as a local eatery where you can casually go and eat like in home. Only feedback I have is the menu needs english names for the items and vegetables. Not everyone would understand Telugu names even if its written in English letters.
Visited the restaurant today for lunch. Got seated immediately, they accommodated our party of 5 by moving around tables. Great service although a bit slow because it appeared they had only two servers. We got the special sankranthi thali for the grown ups. Kids puri thali for my older one, my toddler got to just share the food. The food itself was ok. Eggplant curry was good. Pongal was so so. Clean restrooms, always gets a thumbs up from me.
Tasty South India UNLIMITED Breakfast (Tiffinduring weekends....This restaurant has opened up new and I got to try the UNLIMITED BREAKFAST (tiffinthat they provide during weekends and holidays...the breakfast was good and tasty... it matched the south indian taste of these items..Ambience is nice as well...
