UCC Craighton Estates - Tourist attraction in Kingston, Jamaica
Great tour with a very knowledgeable tour guide! Blue mountain coffee is fantastic
Friendly and knowledgeable host. The house and views were pretty and full of history. The hike up the mountain for views and to see the plantation was not too hard and some steps were loose or slippery. The coffee sample was nice. The drive up was an adventure as we followed Google and it took us up a small super steep road instead of the main road. Drive slow and carefully to get there or better yet have a local who knows the way bring you.
Really amazing place. Visited as a couple, took the tour and had a truly informative presentation about coffee and its history, then a tasting, followed by a walk up to the top of the plantation, learning more about the coffee on the way. Wed been booked to go on another tour which hadnt come together, but very glad we found here instead – much more convenient too as we were staying nearby. Perfect introduction to the Janaican Blue Mountains, and the worlds best coffee.
Came in the morning 🌄 Waited till the opening hour and no one showed up for another 30 minutes. So we just wasted time seen nothing
Fantastic visit , I thought I knew what coffee was ,until I visited here .Recommend!
Went here as part of an organised trip. Not suitable for persons with walking difficulties. A lot of up hill walking and great deal of steps to climb up to the coffee mountain.Good talk giving you the history, a cup of coffee and cake, walk up the mountain to show the the beans growing then back for you to buy from the shop.
The Craighton coffee plantation is a nice cultural experience.Your tour will take you up into the Blue Mountain area to the place where the coffee for Jamaica was started.See the old original plantation house when you go inside little has changed since the 1980s.The old dark furniture and staircase with the white walls. You will be given a small informative presentation of the whole start of coffee in Jamaica. Also a description of the coffee beans and how they sort and grade the beans.A glass of black coffee is offered to all the aroma is not quite like what you expect. It is sutle and not strong. Also a piece of medira cake is offered. This plain cake and distinct coffee compliment each other. You then go on a guided tour up the side of the mountain only about 80 metres but it is all steps and uneven in places.Watch your step.Bug spray is a good idea. The coffee bushes are grown on the steep banks of the mountain. The views are stunning form the side of the mountain looking out over the valley. Then back to the main house and the sales part the coffee in bean or crushed filter type.1/2 kilo either is 30 us dollars. The coffee we tasted was smooth with no bitter after taste , unlike some cheaper grades of coffee you get in the UK. They mix good grade coffee and cheap to mask the flavour. It takes about 1/2 hour to return to Kingston Town.Wheelchair and persons with walking difficulties this might be too much as no access or ramps are available for use.We spent abut 1hour on the tour of the plantation.
Nice day out ; nice walk up to the coffee plants and guides are very good; to finish the tour off we had a lovely cup of coffee and the guide talking about the production was very good .
Amazing tour, this is the best and most informative tour youll have in Jamaica. Very interesting and friendly. We had a tour of the grounds followed by coffee and cake
AmaZing coffee and views. Junior is a genius, he is a wellspring of knowledge when it comes to coffee, history, and culture. Definitely visit UCC!
This is a unique experience that everyone must try! Before this tour, I had never had coffee, so this was a great first time coffee tasting experience.Alton (the master roaster for this estatewalked us through the history of coffee and what makes Blue Mountain such a unique place for coffee growing. After that, we had a coffee tasting with a piece of rum cake then went to see the where the coffee is grown. Overall, this was a great experience. Don’t forget to purchase your coffee and rum cake after the tour!
I booked the Blue Mountain Coffee tour with Yahman Excursion. It was a fantastic experience getting to the Blue Mountains, the drive up was eye-opening and nail-biting. The Coffee Tour was wonderful. We hiked up to where the coffee plants were planted over 3000 feet above sea level. Our Coffee guide, Junior, was extremely knowledgeable about the Estate and the complex history of coffee in the Americas and Europe. I was able to ask the tough questions surrounding the connection between coffee and slavery, coffee and “the Church” and other complexities. Then we sampled the coffee with rum cake on the veranda, overlooking the mountains. I learned a lot on this tour and my understanding was broadened.
Nice experience to visit this coffee plantation
Really fantastic Rainforest Alliance certified coffee plantation. Great to see coffee being grown in amongst the forest, rather than everything being stripped and it being grown in rows. Theres a reason Blue Mountain coffee is renowned as the best in the world.
Excellent tour. I would wholeheartedly recommend it to tourists and locals alike. Super informative and enjoyable.
Great place hell of a drive 🚗 to get there mind.
Best coffee estate experience ever. The coffee was too good. Highly recommend this place if you are in Kingston, Jamaica.
Like the old structure of the house there ,plus lovely tour of the coffee farm great view too.
Not a fan of coffee myself but the place is interesting and our guide (Jérôme ?was really informative and full of nice stories about the coffee plant, its history, the various kinds, etc. There is of course a coffee tasting (which coffee lovers would probably enjoy more than me), but the rum cake was great too 😉Tour is USD 25, you can pay with credit card and of course purchase some Blue Mountain beans there.
Had a good time. Tasted amazing coffee. Our tour guide was amazing.Learnt a lot about coffee ☕️
The location is really nice, a lovely atmosphere where you can sample and buy very nice Blue Mountain coffee at great price.
We liked this coffee plantation! The guide told us about the history of coffee, different types of coffee beans and the process of coffee planting. Then he offered us coffee with rumcake and invited us on a tour to the plantation. It was interesting and informative! There you can buy coffee, its a good present from Jamaica❤
A lot of history to be found here and the staff are very helpful and friendly. Would defo recommend if you are in the area. And the coffee is excellent!
Great natural environment however repairs to electrical outlets are needed. Wifi would also be good......overall the most outstanding element is the environment....
This place is a must visit, if your into, coffee antiques, breathtaking views and nature walks... only issue is that the trail needs maintenance as well as the pool... otherwise the atmosphere is fresh, customers service is warm and professional....
If youre looking to drive out of town and have an amazing experience this the perfect place. UCC Craighton Estates is nestled in the cool, vibrant hills of the Blue Mountain. This beautiful coffee estate is an out of this world event space and experience. The tour guides are very knowledgeable and they leave you with a better appreciation of this iconic drink. The coffee fields makes the presentation even more vivid. All in all it is a 10/10 experience. I definitely recommend for a date, an event, a drive out or a family experience.
Junior, our tour guide was the highlight of this tour. He is like an encyclopedia for coffee. After his presentation where we got to sample locally made cake and a perfect blend of Blue Mountain coffee, we took off on a medium paced hike of the grounds. He pointed out multiple indigenous plants, trees and herbs as climbed. On our way back we stoppes to pick and eat guava fruits from one of the trees. This tour was one of our favorites and we recommend it to anyone visiting the Blue Mountain area.
This was such an amazing experience and Mr. Bedward gave us some great insight and the hike was fun. Whether you are a coffee lover or not I recommend so you can understand the history and just some facts that may surprise you.
Beautiful and peaceful ambiance with pleasant staff
A learning experience Im not likely to forget. Big up to Mr Bedward for the history lesson and Jerome for the coffee estate walkabout
Beautiful property, great tour, amazing tasting coffee
The rustic feel of the place was more than I had bargained for. The place is imaginative and is perfect for creating the wedding of your dreams. Every place on the property is a new experience.
Great tour and coffee tasting
Bit of a trek up to the estate, but worth it. Interesting tour, guide very knowledgeable. Excellent presentation and cup of coffee with a piece of rum cake - Yum!
It was great the place has a very rustic feel to it being up in the mountains this also allows for an amazing view of the mountain canopy the place it self is very big with lush lawns and flowers it is an excellent recommendation for weddings or big gatherings
Loved this little house we arrived and the weather took a bit of a turn so we could only take the end of the tour as the building was struck with lighting the power went out and due to safty the tour couldnt go ahead the tour guide gave us a chat about coffee a cup of coffee and some cake very nice guy and lovely little place
Amazing place almost 2,500ft above sea level. You got to try the fabulous Critchen estate Blue Mountain coffee and yam some Buccaneer Rum cake delicious!
The estate is a beautiful step back in the past, the artifacts and furnitures a well preserved and maintained. The environment is calm and cozy with beautiful flowers and luscious laws around the estate. The hike through the coffee field is a good work out to reach top where one can see a beautiful view of the Kingston Harbor
Beautiful and scenic coffee estate in the cool hills of St. Andrews.
Its always great to learn and Ive learned a lot about coffee and actually got my first real taste Jamaican coffee and it was good and my tour guide was very good Im very pleased
If you really want to learn about Jamaicas coffee industry and taste and purchase the best coffee in the world, this place is a must to visit.. Yah mon...#knowjamaicatours @knowjamaicatours will get you there..
Beautiful location. Junior gave an excellent tour. Amazing coffee. Highlight of my time in Jamaica.
Absolutely brilliant.tour guide Junior was excellent.coffee tasted great too.
Visited this coffee plantation on our Town and Country Tour. Was fascinating to look around the grounds and house, even more so about the history, facts and figures about Blue Mountain Coffee. As our guide said, it gets colder as you elevate up the mountains. And during the winter when it drops to 15°C, he is afraid of getting frostbite and hypothermia!!
Craighton Estates was amazing. Junior our "tour guide" Gave us this amazing lesson in the history and chemistry and biology of coffee. Everything I thought I knew was a lie haha. The estate is beautiful and rich with history the information was entertaining and engaging I highly recommend.
Perfect place to see, to learn and to feel how one of the best coffees in the world is made: Blue Mountain Coffee. Super presentation, nice old building, wonderful garden with a spectacular view on Kingston and with lots of beautiful tropical flowers.
It was a great hike and learned a lot about coffee
Very interesting place to visit, here you can learn and taste a bit of the famous blue mountain coffee.
NEVER EVER!!!We did the blue mountain coffee tour. It wasboring and the guide was always doing hidden advertising for the great blue mountain coffee. The facts he mentioned about coffee are only partly right. And of course the guide mentioned that blue mountain coffee is the best. Now the big deal. We did not asked for the price before for the tour. The guide charged us 50 US$ per person!!! We have been shocked but we are rich and can afford this even if this is overpriced. Maxim 5 US$ would be worth to pay. Even less for the hidden advertising targeting that you buy coffee after the presentation. But we do not think that the price is in relation of what the guided tour is worth. Especially considering the wrong information!!! Better do not waste your time and money and dont go there. There is anything special at this coffee Plantage and this house. We recommend to safe your time and money and dont go there!!!! Better invest the 50 US$ for a tour full as hidden advertising in good quality coffee beans. The blue mountain coffee the guide served to us was also already a little bit to cold!!!We can not underrate that there is such good rating on google. Maybe friends of the company wrote the other evaluations.A taxi from Kingston to this house is also around 20 US$.In total we think that in Kingston and around the area you can do better things for your money.
If youre looking for a good coffee experience, they lead daily tours through the plantations and follow with a tasting at the main house.
