U Hrocha - Beer hall in Prague, Czechia
Great local place with extremely low prices
Overrated place with unfriendly staff.
We didnt try the food but we came for late beers. It was one of the best pub experiences of my life. I will be sure to go there every time I am in Prague. Very nice beer and very welcoming staff (I speak a little Czech so maybe that helped).
Visiting this pub feels like return to the 90s, price and atmosphere wise. Worth to visit it youre interested in typical Czech pub culture. Great staff, tasty beer and food rounds the overall experience as a 5*.
The last real Czech pub in the city centre, comfortable and gently shabby and very cozy. Excellent beer and beer snacks (oil-macerated camembert!). If youre sick of themed restaurants in the centre, simply come here for an affordable refreshments. Fully recommended
Very good beer, maybe you have to wait for a seat
Great local pub with normal Czech prices.
Couldnt pay by card. Anyway very good 👍🏻
An extremely rude person at the bar, he didnt even look at us and pointed with his hand for us to get out.Never come here except you are a local and can speak Czech.
Very nice little pub to visit in a rather touristy part of town. Walked in, was able to get a table followed by a good feed and half litre of Pilsner Urquell’s finest. No worries with English, there was at least one out of the six people working there who helped me out just fine. Mr Grizzly Bear behind the bar aint the friendliest barman you’ll ever come across, but the beers were good nonetheless. This place operates as cash only, so make sure you have a few CZK on you as the closest ATM aint too far away, but not easy to find. I learned the hard way.
Inexpensive, less touristy, cash only, classic Czech food! Exactly what we wanted.
Cheap beer, nice beer cheese with bread.
Great pub!! Very authentic, almost more than I bargained for 😂 it was me (a 24 year old girland like 30 giant czech men. Fantastic cheap place to try czech pub food!! I had a great time
Fantastic place, Ive been visiting on and off for twenty years. If youre a fussy tourist wanting to be pampered, probably best stay away.
The bartender said there is no beer while standing, than when we saw a free table they sent us out
Regarding the food, I think the picture says it all. The staff is really kind and it was by far the best local bar we found in Prague! A must-go for those looking for a nice local place instead a touristic one.
Fine service and a fantastic Pilsner Urquell Tank Beer. Great typical Czech dishes on offer too.
One of the worst pub all over Prague and maybe central Europe. We decided to try this pub cause we checked the reviews...and....nothing more false and fake than that....The pub smells terribly, the owner and the staff dont know what is customer care and they treated us, customers, in a very bad way. Me and some friends wanted just to have the last shot before going home around 10.00 pm and we hadnt even the time to enter that they screamed at us in czech and they told us in a very rude way to leave immediately. Awful experience....if you have the bad luck to find this place, move immediately away from this "U Hrocha". Absolutely NOT recommended.
The best place ever! Real Czech Pub!Its quite small and you probably wont meet here another tourists only the locals, but the atmosphere is amazing, beers tasty, utopenyk (pickled sausage is delicious! The prices like for locals
Classic Czech pub.Welcome if you wish to have some great beer. Be ready to share a table with strangers which can be a cool experience.Beer for about 50. Becherovka shot 30. Sausage 50. Pork steak 90.The sausage was ok but I didnt like pork.Next time Im going to eat in some other place and move hereafter to have some beer and enjoy the atmosphere. The service was fast and friendly.
Very traditional Czech place. Nice and cozy atmosphere. Not many options but all very tasty for a great price!
Service is great as is the food. And so are the prices 😎 Very traditional beer point with cool atmosphere 😎
The most beautiful place I have visited in Prague. Atmosphere, beer and great food. Recommended. Just one thing, you have to have some cash. No bank cards.
You are a hungry and thirsty, looking for the place where locals eat and drink? If so, simply go there. Its a small pub in an old building - so, no glamour, no extra-polite staff, but place with a character. A kind of character that probably not everyone might like. But we did. Added value are their prices, which are hard-to-believe low.
One of the oldest pub in Prague. Must visit.
Great local pub... worth revisiting and revisiting...etc. :)
Nipped in here on a Monday night for what was meant to be 1 or 2 pints. Quite a small place but we were lucky to be shown to 2 stools by the window. Very friendly staff and locals and were made very welcome. Had a great laugh talking to a few lads that work up at the castle about Prague, Scotland, beer and slagging Boris Johnson off 😂Beer was fantastic and instead of 1 or 2 pints I ended up having 7. Definitely not a place for stag/hen or large groups. Treat the staff and regulars with respect and youll have a great time.
An earlier review said this is a brutally traditional Czech beer drinking joint. They got it spot on. The pilsner is fabulous. About £2 a pint. The service isnt filled with love but me & the missus felt fine mixing with the locals and downing their beers.
Super local joint with excellent food, probably the best meal Ive had in Europe thus far, great prices
Amazing and authentic beer place in Prague. One of the best places we visited. We didnt try the food but it looked great... We will definitely going back. Highly recommended.
Very bad ! We went after we read a good revews. BUT! Arrogant and rude people. Bad service, bad face. And put us 10% tip after we were expulsion out!
One of the best pubs in Prague, based on the quality of beer. Place is super authentic including the surly service. Did is very good and incredible value. If you want to experience a true Czech pub, this is the place.
Nice cozy restaurant/bar. Food is great, had the pork ham knee, meat loaf and grilled steak. The pork ham knee is the best with soft juicy meat. It’s braises not fried so the meat is not dry. Price is cheap and highly recommended. Do take note they only accept cash, not cards
Fantastic little place. More locals than tourists. Great beer and great food. All you need in life.
Such a disappointment. We searched for this pub after watching Rick Steves’ show. We did not feel welcome initially and had to almost beg to place an order. The unhappy staff sort of came around towards the end of our visit but it was hard to endure. We watched them treat other patrons with similar disdain.
Stay away! That’s the feeling you get when you enter. We had to bother them to serve us. They kept a table “reserved” for the staff to sit and pout and generally look angry and not help. Rick Steves obliviously gets better treatment with his local friends, camera crew and music. Shame we wasted our time.
A typical real Czech hospoda, Czech beer, czeck jidlo, Czech people, Czechoslovak environment. No turista at all, 50 meters from Karluv Most.
Very authentic place in prague, old style pub with good price
A proper local place. Great prices, not too humorous service.
A traditional Czech bar. No nonsense, no tourist, just beer and becherovka. Excellent.
Was supposed to be a great and very local bar. Well, we didnt feel welcome on our arrival... Managed to find a spot where to sit and got a stool from another table. The barman, unceremoniously took it back from us with no more than a grunt, and replaced it to its original spot. He then never bother asking what we would like to drink, even when waiting at the bar trying to make contact with him. He didnt even look at us.We left the place without having had a chance to place an order. It is a shame as the place looks good, and the beer looks cheap. The bartender doesnt like tourist in his premise, obviously... Shame on him.
This is an authentic Czech pub with some of the best beer in Prague, an unpretentious atmosphere the attracts the locals and a menu, though limited, that is very satisfying. Located by the 209 stair up the Castle, one would expect a more touristy place. Fortunately U Krocha is not.
Super delicious meat (porkfood and cold beer after a day on the Castle. We had 2 dishes and 4 beers spend the equivalent of $20 usd. Staff is very helpful and even though we were few girls there i wouldnt recommend for female solo travelers since most of the crowd there are local men.
This place was recommend to me by a friend. Have to say when I walked in, I did not like the look of your place. We were seated in the corner and ordered two Pilsner urquell. By the time we s.finished our beers we could see this place was known to have writers and politicians as client. The atmosphere is very lively with converstaion and the two bar men work in beautiful unison keeping the beers following. A must after visiting the castle.
A must go bar if you happen to visit Prague. True ambience , cheap prises , unforgettable real bar. Highly recommended, but be aware that none speaks English there:)
Best place in Prague to get a beer.. if you lucky to get a seat... Tiny place with enormous character, where time slows down and you find yourself having a casual chat with one of the ‘štamgast’..
Great local bar in Prague. Lovely cosy 1 room bar where everyone is sat around each other. Please be respectful though, this bar is for Czech locals so even though it is definitely worth a visit be polite and try and use Czech words.
Authentic experience, best beer - unpasteurised from the tank! Good pork knee. Very basic and simple but welcoming.
This place is a gem! It is small. It is loud. It is Czech! This is a local pub and the energy here is amazing. This is not for tourists who think their English should be accepted everywhere - go to another pub. Learn to order a beer in Czech and everything will be amazing! Its simple to enjoy yourself and the Czech culture is overflowing here!
Great beer and good beer food! Its a very typical Czech place, which is very nice. Although if you dont like smokey places I would not recommend going here. Otherwise the Hippo is a great place to go to have very very good beer and a snack! Always enjoy it here
