Themed evenings highlight different aspects of this family-friendly chain pub's global menu.
Terrible terrible. Very short-staffed the grounds are unkempt and just plain dirty. Tables are not wiped down at all ,dirty menus, dirty glasses. Food always takes over an hour , this time it was 90 min! The desert came out first! Really hungry horse, do better, employ more staff, they are struggling, clean up your pub and outdoors its looking very grimey!!
Doors not open at 12. Some of the staff very loud and rude. Music in kitchen very loud and could be heard in restaurant
Excellent service, food and calm atmosphere. Special mention to Jess for her warm personality and friendly professional service. Big turn around. Feeling full and happy 😃
Had their lovely lasagna today, big portion, amazing price especially with my tesco clubcard voucher. The service was incredible. From the moment we walked in we were greeted and served by Jess who was so welcoming and friendly, her amazing energy instantly made our day. Our food came quickly, hot and good quality and we were asked by staff on two occasions if we had everything we needed and if we were enjoying our food. The attentive service and friendly atmosphere made our visit an all round pleasant experience and we will definitely be back! Thanks guys
No offense but got to be worse pub Ive been to, staff sitting on slot machines, menu had hardly any options available. Next door to thorpe park youd think it would be alot better. Oh and ordering on app was a No ... So had to get bartender to stop talking to customers and come serve us. (Was sitting at table talking to other customers)
Egg was covered in oil and not much flavor in mac and cheese plus in the kitchen some one was swearing a lot
Amazing food and cheery friendly service, i have a hungry horse near where i live in farnbrough and im amazed at the quality and standard off food that is served here compared to where i live ive always just excepted it ther but this place is how its ment to be!! Food was lovely cooked perfect large portion was very happy all staff were very welcoming and friendly. Defo recommended.
Not good this time round, Ive never had a meal that I didnt enjoy. I got the mix it up, half chicken, two sides and dip. Side were good, the half chicken however was over cooked and dry. Safe to say I didnt enjoy this meal. Also they had ran out of a few things, e.g. battered fish.
We arrived at 8.15pm on Saturday, having planned a special birthday weekend for our son at Thorpe Park. We did our research in advance and it was stated on the Hungry Horse website that this branch was serving food until 9.00pm.We were therefore extremely disappointed to be told, upon entering, that no food was being served due to a lack of kitchen staff. This was particularly disappointing since we had converted our Tesco Clubcard vouchers into Hungry Horse vouchers especially for this occasion. The lady and gentleman who dealt with us were apologetic and were obviously placed in an awkward situation by their employers, Greene King. Our low rating does not reflect on them personally - this is clearly a company issue and responsibility lies with Greene King. This was our first and last visit to a Hungry Horse establishment. We certainly left the premises feeling hungry!
Reasonable food, very good value, and friendly service
Staff are friendly burgers are banging. Especially on a Friday as it buy 1 get 1 free.just had curry n pint for £6.50.good value, tasty and quick ish.just had 2x roast dinners.upgraded to super size for £2 per plate.i can eat but couldnt finish it. Beef and chicken absolutely 💯%.
Takes forever to get served and they NEVER have anything on the food menu that you ask for! Avoid at all cost
Enjoyed our food, very reasonable pricing and good portion sizes for both kids and adult means. Large choice of meals and drinks. Only thing that let down our experience was the wait time for our food to arrive. We were told that it was about 25-30 minutes for food, however, we ended waiting just under an hour from when we ordered to when food arrived.
Food took an hour from when we ordered VERY under staffed the staff that was working where great food was ok.
Im a sous chef and had a mix grill and the chicken was dry and they forgot the egg and then gave me 2 undercooked and then my brother in laws food they forgot onion rings and my niece whos 12 years old asked for medium steak but came out well done and from the staff very polite but food wise at 9.15pm was bad from my experience and its a shame to say it as Im a fully qualified chef
Love hungry horse pubs so thought we’d try this one but very disappointed. When we arrived we’d booked a table but had to stand at the bar for 15mins to wait for someone to tell us where we were sitting. Eventually we sat outside which was a massive mistake to begin with, when the food arrived it was cold. My food was covered in wasps as soon as the plate had been put down , they were burying themselves in the food which put me off eating it. Eventually we found a table inside but couldn’t eat the cold wasp infected food. 1hr 30mins after we’d finished the main the chocolate fudge cake finally arrived however, one was stone cold and rock solid. We felt as though we couldn’t inform the staff of the issues as they were busy and understaffed. Very disappointed
We went there for Sunday dinner - as it was a Sunday. NO Sunday lunches at all. The staff were uninterested to say the least. I’d give a wide berth
Food was lovely. Nice big garden. Prices were very good and the portions were huge!! Would recommend and well be back for sure.
Been going here a long time and the pub has seen quite a few managers in its time. Recent visit was for drinks which are well priced and good selection of beers and ciders. The food coming out of the kitchen looked good but didnt try any on this visit. Big beer garden which is good for kids and has a play area and plenty of parking. Appearance of the toilets let it down on this occasion with toilet paper over the floor and looked a tad grubby and in need of a clean.
Small portions, and when I food arrived the server pointed at the door he came out off and said the knives and forks are over there, thanks mate how about you pick some up next time.
Excellent pub/restaurant nice variety on the menu. Daily specials. Price and portions very decent. Not to mention food is very good. Family friendly, a little playground for youngsters and a nice terrace for outdoor dining/drinking. Staff is professional, friendly and helpful Highly recommend coming here.
Ridiculous place.Barman took orders wrongly.I got the food but that was wasn’t what I ordered.I got the refund but they took the food away and told me the kitchen is closed and can’t make anything else. I waited 1 hour for the food now I’m sitting here hungry and disappointed. If wouldn’t be my friends here I would leave right now.Guaranteed never come back here.Manager wasn’t helpful at all he kind of put the all things on me.I’m 100% sure I ordered what I wanted but it wasn’t put through correctly .What bothered me that no one take responsibility for their mistakes and they pushed the all thing on me,like it was my fault.I’m working in the hospitality business as well but my experience here almost made my cry. I added a photo of a carrot what was served to my daughter. That looks like was been cut a week ago.😅
Stopped here after Thorpe Park never been here before lovely place really great food for the price. Myself and my wife were very impressed its nice and spacious too! Very pleased
Food is always great, the staff are always polite, even though run off their feet on weekends
So I gave a review earlier in the week but in hindsight was a bit unfair so I deleted it but if Im being honest though it wasnt the best experience, our food came out 10 to 15 minutes apart and some of my dinner was cold and soggy,my husbands was ok it was hot and the plate was huge !its definatly value for money and on the plus side the staff are very friendly its a good clean pub
Good food. Staff need to improve a little in their customer service, example- check backs. Otherwise overall its worth it especially for family as kids have a speciall play area for them to enjoy.
My sister suggested going to the twynersh this afternoon with my sons. I was really not sure as the last time we went there the food and service was really poor. However I was presently surprised as the staff were really polite and helpfu, nothing was to much trouble and the food was really excellent. My stake was really juicy and tender, cooked to perfection and the boys said they enjoyed there food too and finished everything which they dont always do. I take it the Twynersh is under new management and hope they keep up the good work as this is a lovely place.
Was unsure initially given some of he reviews but gave it a go.Firstly, the staff were awesome. Very polite and friendly, couldnt fault them. Even sorted out one of the meals when I messed up the order. Thank you for that!!The food is OK, what we had was fairly bland but its a value for money place with good service and a nice play area for the kids.
Fantastic.great staff very polite ..Good food.nice and hot..massive beer garden with play area.tons of parking.will definitely be going back.
Went here on way home from day out. Arrived about 6.10 and as we were looking at menu a lady came over and said the kutchen had closec at 6, due to staff shortage but we could order if we hurried. Went to order food, two of us ordering lasagne. Person who served us asked if we wanted to add chips to the lasagne for £1. We agreed as we thought it was a good deal. When we looked at the bill we had b.een charged £2.99 for the chips. When we queried this, the lady who served us asked the other barmaid how much chips were with lasagne and she said they were £2.99. The waitress then said to us "£2.99" and then walked away, no apology or offer of reimbursement. She was quite aggressive and we were so taken aback we didnt say anything. In hindsight we should have complained at the time, but as the restaurant was quite full, and she was so aggressive we just left.Must say the food wasnt great either, My husband had the wednesday curry special and the portion was tiny and our friends scampi was more breadcrumb than scampi.Wont be going back any time soon.
Ordered 12oz stake And I must say it has to be one of the worst I have even had my daughter ordered a mini mixed grill and it was dry as if it had sat under the hot plate for hour before it come out this is the second time we have used this pub as the first time the food was great
Shocking if I could give no stars I would! Went here on bank holiday Monday. Food was okay but staff WOW... one woman was moaning very loudly that she couldnt work with someone any more. Then it got worse...I think it was the manager she was behind the bar, someone came over to ask a question and she was on her phone the whole time didnt even look at the customer. A young girl went over and asked about her table being cleaned... rather than her going over and cleaning it for the customers she passed the young girl some spray and a cloth! I was speechless will never be going back there again!
Bar staff are ok, depending on who is working, serving staff not so much, food slammed onto the table, no question if I wanted sauce etc.Poppadoms half cooked, chips cold, no follow up about food. Why would you work in a pub and insult the regulars, if you don’t like the job go somewhere else!
horrible place after a day at Thorpe park we wanted to grab some food so we went to this pub for some grub. we was shocked by the state of the restaurant dirty tables everywhere. staff was so unfriendly hungry horse need to retrain staff to have an idea of a clean pub
Nice food, friendly and cheerful staff. They were a bit short staffed so we had to wait a while for our desserts but they were worth the wait
An absolute gem of a pub!!With a fantastic garden for kids and familys to enjoy with a massive selection of food what more can you ask for, We went there about two weeks ago as a family for my grandfathers birthday and reserved a table but he was unable to get into the tight space due to him having problems with his knees and back. Without a problem the staff ran around to find another suitable sitting location and told us the kitchen was due to open at midday (think it was a sundayand that in the mean time we can feel free to order and drink and food now but to food wont be with us untill after 12!With the upfront and honesty from the staff we stayed and did just that with my little girl running around this wasnt a problem and the staff interacted with her very well and treated us all with respect which is a hard to find and rare thing these daysSo thank you and i look forward to coming back again soon.
Sat down at 17:50... a waitress came to the table at 18:00 and said that they werent taking any more orders because the kitchen was closing at 19:00. And they were still expecting more customers at the reserved tables.
Use to a lovely place to eat. But last few weeks of trying to get some dinner the kitchen has been closed even though there is customers eating and it not exactly busy have been refused. Also to mention the staff seem clueless as to what time the kitchen is closed because of you ring they say it’s open till 8 and arrive at 7 to be told it shut and on website tells you 10!!!!! Avoid unless you arrive for breakfast can’t even guarantee that maybe a pic on a door if your lucky
Well it’s still a shambles, place nearly empty yet can’t sit down to eat what a joke. Well they’ve lost our customer for good and I will be telling everyone I know not to be using them either. Staff are rude on top of it
Booked online and was contacted on the day of the booking to say they had no chef after 5pm. Booking was cancelled as it would have been too early to eat as going with friends. Rebooked for the following Wednesday. On the Wednesday got another phone call to say kitchen closing at 5 so booked elsewhere and had a lovely meal. Will not be going back. Got promised manager would call but never happened.
Booked for breakfast as wanted a particular table. Booking taken but when we arived it was shut! We hung about for 10 minutes then left and went to the George in staines where we had a lovely breakfast. What is the point of taking our number if you dont use it?
Disastrous from start to finish.I booked a table for Sunday lunch and fair enough was informed that it would be busy afternoon. However we got there early in the afternoon and there is no one to greet you, everyone just seemed to run around and it wasnt even busy.So we stood in line to the bar where barmaid was huffin and puffin over fact that she had to work on a Sunday, apparently she was called in to cover (do we care, Im sorry but no)?We were finally informed where our table was but followed by disappointing news that beers on tap arent available because they ran out of gas, ok I can understand it happens. We then ordered the Sunday roast specials, after an hour they were delivered. The sides were the same on all... bland, tasteless peas and carrots, rubber mash potatoes and tennis balls of roasted potatoes. All served in a large yorkshire pudding which was as hard as a cardboard. And the meat... chicken was half (microwaveddone, you could tell it was undercooked, white, pale and tasteless. Beef was ok. And goats cheese roulade, while okay-ish, a tiny slice...No gravy was served or it was forgotten, so we had to wait for that to be delivered by staff who looked like deer looking at headlights when asked about it.After hearing the neighbouring table complaining that they only received half of their order after more than an hour of waiting... you knew it was time to leave. The only good thing was that we paid in advance as there is no table ordering so we could leave straight away. The food was so awful I couldnt even stomach taking a picture of it.Its a shame because the inside is done so it suggests a nice place, e.g. art deco posters but thats about it.Childrens playground could use a little bit of love too.I actually felt pity for people ordering after us.
Nice service, food ok, there was 9 of us, and food came out more or less at same time. People serving had s smile, but feel there should have been more staff as very busy.
Great food and drinks quality. Food and drinks are very nicely presented. Very good value for money. A friendly service in pleasant and relaxing surroundings.
Good breakfast, nice and quiet - dont think anyone else was there!
I’ve been coming here from time-to-time over the last 5/6 years, this is my first visit since the recent refurbishment and I have to say they’ve done a great job with the decor and seating, much nicer than I remember it being. It was mid-evening on a Sunday and much quieter than I would of expected. The menu is what I would describe as “explosive” - it takes quite a while to digest as everything is trying to catch your attention. Deals for this, deals on that etc. It all appears like they’re doing you a favour whatever you chose. Our two meals along with a drink each actually came to around £34, which for what we received…is a bit steep.I understand this is a budget pub, but neither of us where overly impressed with the quality of the food and that’s got to be a certain standard as a minimum no matter how bargain-tastic somewhere is trying to be. My steak was “ok” for Rump but the extra chicken skewer was “mushy” - like it had been very quickly defrosted. Our rice was a little odd too. Like the menu, the food looks better in my pics than it actually was!I think if we were to return the 2 -meals for £13 (I think that was the price..is what we’d go for as then the price Vs quality stacks up.Service was good, toilets tidy and clean aside from a bit of toilet paper on the floor.
I wish this was a one off experience but this has happened a few times now and were never going back!We came here for my birthday. Being a hot summer day it was busy. We ordered the food by the app as advised. Starter came before the drinks so looked promising. Then the mains, I asked for my steak to be medium rare with a side salad. It came well done so I asked for another. They must of put my salad on the hot plate while they cooked me another steak because it came back hot and mush. The steak came back raw. Waited an hour and half for pudding, left before it arrived. Saddest birthday meal.
Had a booking for 4 people which I needed to change to 5 half way through the day which they had no problem helping me do this at short notice. We had 5 main courses and drinks which were all great standard for the price and there want a long wait either. Great atmosphere and great staff.A certain few staff were annoyed and frustrated by working in general Im guessing as they seemed short staffed and overworked which was a given when I worked for greene king so cant knock them for it... 😂Overall great experience.
Ordered drinks, staff forgot several, had to repeat part of order. Ordered food, staff forgot several. Had to reorder part way through eating as order not taken properly, so two people ate after others. Vegan fish meal awful, inedible vegan fish. Tasted like vinegar drowned stodge. That person only had chips for tea! Complained to staff, was ignored and deflected. Overall whole experience was very poor. Disappointed. Expected a budget experience, but not an awful inedible one.
The meal OK ish but the place is dirty, the seats were stained, walls tables, carpets were rank. It needs shutting down and cleaning and redecorating. The ladies, stunk of stale urine it was disgusting, so bad could not use. They may have sorted out the kitchen(hopefullybut the rest of the place is horrible. Definetly a place to avoid!!!
