This has been such a treat of a retreat!I stayed here for 3 nights and all staff members were super friendly and welcoming! There are so many activities to take part of (nature drives, hikes, swimming, rock-painting, etc), it all depends on what youre there to do.The rooms are great and had a mosquito net which wasnt really needed as the rooms are insect-free.The food was incredible every night and I couldnt get enough of it.Thanks for such a wonderful stay! Youll definitely see me again.

Very nice resort, great architecture, rooms are Ok, but there are perhaps too many lodges, so it was very busy. One big disadvantage: it is very disappointing that we had to pay extra for (slowinternet.....

Amazing lodge in the middle of nowhere. Awesome views from the bar and friendly service. We only dropped in for a few drinks, but it would certainly be worth going back for a longer stay.

Bit off the beaten track, which adds to Twyfelfonteins charm. Our second visit, of hopefully many more. Lovely buffet dinners & super friendly staff. The rooms are also very comfortable, and the small stoep infront of each room makes for lovely sunrise coffees or sunset drinks. Highly recommended!!

Lodge is the only decent one close to the rock carvings. Very pricy and definitely overpriced for the services they offer. Food/buffet was ok but not special. Staff was very friendly but in dire need of some new uniforms as they looked quite worn-down. The pool is a nice feature but could use a little cleanup around the edges. For this price you would expect a bit more.

It is a gem in the middle of nowhere. The route to go there is really sandy (4x4 mandatory). Here are 3 things that amazed me about this place : 1.the place in itself, incorporé dans le decor of big majestic rocks, 2. the bar terrace with a view on the valley 3. the quality of the food for the buffet. Of course I can also mention the hospitality and sympathy of the staff. There is also a small shops of crafted souvenirs. The only improvement feedback I can give is about the wifi, which is available only if you buy gigabits at the reception.Leaving the place you will find not so far a gaz station to fuel

Amazing location with a few problems to solve. The location itself is great, has a beautiful pool and great tour guides (we saw many elephants). The staff was nice, especially waiter Paul, who was unbelievably friendly, fast and funny. It seems he is the secret ingredient for a perfect stay. Not to good was the food (meat-quality was just okay), some of the waiters and the rooms: too dark and not the newest anymore.

Nice lodge very close to Twyfelfontein. The rooms are a bit old fashioned. The pool is very nice but there a not enough sun beds for all the guests. The staff in the restaurant was very friendly.

I experienced the Lodge as one of the very best in Namibia and is an excellent starting point for desert elephant safaris. If you found another lodge like this in Namibia let me know.

The architecture of the lodge is great. It is very well embedded in the surrounding rocks. Nice swimming pool. Personnel is friendly and helpful. Good meals with a choice of meats. Some rock engravings are just next to the reception. The rooms are big with a great view. Maintenance can be difficult in this remote location; we experienced a rupture of water pipe in the toiles but we were rapidly given an other room. Lots of interesting activities to do. A fantastic experience that I can recommend. You will remember the place your whole life !

Beautiful location and a nice set up! The Staff is very friendly and eager to help. The pool is very unique and the lounge/bar area has the best view! Dinner and breakfast are buffet and they had such a wonderful variety! Would definitely come back just for the food! :Rooms are clean although they did have a lot of night desks/stools inside which is a bit unnecessary since the rooms are already a bit small. You also cannot park your car close to your room. You can only unload and then bring it back to the main parking area.

Lovely 2 night stay at this remote lodge, in a beautiful UNESCO World Heritage location. My favorite space was the open air bar lounge with beautiful views and stylish decor. We booked 2 tours with the hotel and got to see desert elephants and rock engravings. The lodge currently does not offer free wifi as they are in such a remote location. Wifi is only available for purchase at the time of this visit.

Went there to have a buffet lunch after visiting Damara Living Musuem and Organ Pipes. Its certainly a picturesque African-style resort built beside the huge reddish stone. There is even a small pool in this arid land. In front, you can check out the ancient drawings on the stone, this is a part of the surrounding areas of impressive 5000-year-old ancient drawings

Awesome place to relax while in the Damaraland wilderness. Also, its a 10 minute drive from the Twyfelfontein World Heritage site, the Organ Pipes, and the Verbrandeberg. Desert-adapted elephants frequent the area as well.

We stopped over at Twyfelfontein Lodge for lunch on the 11th of August. We were the only guests there and although not staying there, we were welcomed with open arms. The staff were super friendly, lunch was delicious and the engravings a must to see. Cant wait to visit again and next time we are staying.

I dont have enough good words of praise! We started our day here on our way to the engravings. Had a flat tire. The staff turned a moment of adversity into a fun morning! And they fixed the tire! Great food! Friendliness we have not experienced anywhere else! See you soon again my friends! Thank you again!

A superb place and yet so remote. My only suggestion and not a complaint, in todays connected world, and wanting to appeal to all ages, wifi needs to have a better performance than it has currently. At my age, happy to be without it, however kids and young parents need that connectivity..!!

We had been here twice for lunch as walk in guests. So the review is for the restaurant. The lodge is signed out clearly and therefore easily to find. The clients seem to be tourist groups mostly. The lapa is spacious, clean and shady. On the ground floor you pass the reception, a tour operator and crafts shop. The receptionist is very welcoming and friendly.Upstairs you find a very beautiful decorated bar and a spacious restaurant. Lunch is served as a buffet. You find a wide selection of salads and homemade dressings (very tasty). The meat is freshly fried and there is a good and daily changing variety of side dishes. The food is tasty and the cook is working absolutely professional. The waitresses are attentive and friendly.I highly recommend the restaurant of the lodge.

This Lodge would earn 5 stars if there were a little easier way to get upstairs to the beautiful restaurant. The Lodge itself was beautiful, nicely laid out and good bar, coffee and receptionist and staff. In fact the staff were super helpful to me as I was trying to add minutes to my sim card. They knew exactly what to do. They were also helpful as I had broken my wrist and had some difficulties negotiating steps with a cast. Our little bandas were a short walk from the lodge but we were placed with a spectacular view of the expanse and as nearly everyday had an Oryx or two appear to greet us. The bandas were clean and definitely well laid out. Our bathroom was large, extremely nice. The little porches were another plus and watching the night fall was beautiful as we had sundowners on the porch with our friends. Tops was the food. The choices were incredible, every variety of meat, every variety of good vegetables, amazing desserts and breads. I think we ate more at this lodge than anywhere else. Also, it was a short hike to the Rock carvings and they were truly wonderful. Even the lodge had some carvings towards the entrance. People were enjoying the pool which has a waterfall coming down at one end. All in all, this place is amazing. But, please make a ramp to the restaurant so that it is a little more accessible for people with some walking difficulties.

Being related to the owners of this magical lodge could result in a biased opinion, but we are nevertheless not blind to any areas of improvement. Actually, we are much more critical to ensure the lodge meets our guests expectations. This is indeed a magical place, not only because of the famous engravings of ancient San tribes dating back to more than 3000 years, or because our Desert Giants pays regular visits to the lodge, but the whole ambiance and calmness that surrounds you at sunset is indescribable. Proudly recommended.

A lovely place in the middle of nowhere. The rooms were nice but I was missing an AC and a refrigerator. Also it is not nice to have the rooms so close next to each other. I dont want to hear other people talk or flush their toilets...Wifi worked nicely at the reception. Buffet was delicious and offered everything you could ask for. Staff was very friendly.Unfortunately I couldnt enjoy their pool, which just looks spectacular in that rocky area.

Nice lodge, friendly staff. Well provided curio-shop. 2000 year old rock petrogliphs right on the lodge (but do not miss the world-renowned rock art site, 10 km away from the lodge either).Petrol station and workshop for minor car reparations available at the lodge (managed to change a flat tyre there). Stargazing. Safaris to Aba-Huab river in search of the dessert adapted elephants. Airstrip.

Pros:- elephant tracking tour is good, do sign up for this in advance. We saw lots of elephants that day and some other animals too. Guide was very good.- Wifi was slow, but usable. Only accessible in the main lobby.- Great bar area with a good view across the landscape (no animals though), and reasonable prices- Bed is comfortable and we got a good nights sleepCons:- rooms are very dark, and "rustic" style. So best type of room to just come and sleep for the 8 hours.- No aircon, just a ceiling fan (speed cannot be changed)- If you get a mountain facing view, it is very depressing- The room rate might be "cheap", but youre locked in to have dinner there, which is an exorbitant $325 pp buffet.- The buffet was not that good either- Hygiene for buffets is questionable, as they allow birds to fly into the dining area and land and walk on the salads and other food, and do nothing to chase them out- Breakfast quality was average - standard eggs and several hot dishes, and also some fruits and cold meats and cheese- Pool is tiny and only good for a dip- Lunch is also buffet (but a more "reasonable" $245but also nothing special- No tea/coffee making facilities in the rooms, no fridge eitherOverall there seems to be a lack of good value for money accommodation in the area. I would maybe go higher end (Mowani, etcor maybe skip this leg of the trip, than stay at Twyfelfontein Country Lodge.OR bring your own lunch and dinner foods (e.g. instant noodles, they have hot water in the common area)

Just had a bad experience at Twyfelfontein country Lodge because during an organized tour for elephants the car of the lodge had 2 flat tyres (6pmWe were only 1 hour far away from the lodge but they rescued us after 3 hours. The mobile phone of the driver was broken and there was no coverage of network to call the lodge. So me and the driver went to the top of the hill to search a coverage with my mobile phone. I was the only one that had good tall hiking shoes, not sandals. At the end -  thanks to God - we made a call (It was 7pm)AT 9pm no one came . . It was cold and windy, we were in the bush and people were scared. The driver lighted a fire for the group. So me and the driver went again in the darkness on top of the hill: made again the call. The driver was worried about the danger and angry against the lodge. Finally they arrived at 10.30pm.We had dinner and went to rooms at midnight. The lodge didnt charge anyone of the group for the activity and for dinner. So it was nice. But I paid 30 euro for the roaming and extracharge for the calls helping all of us to come back.I told this to the reception of the lodge and they didnt refund me. I asked to talk to the manager but he "wasnt available" saying he already decided to not refund me.So I received the same of others but loosing 400 NAD. I think the behaviour of the manager is very stupid because he damages his reputation and reputation of the lodge for just 400 NAD. This is the cost he gives to his reputation.
