Two Olives in Port Elizabeth
Description
Privilege
By far the best place and the tastes and flavors are perfect! And the wine was excellent!
MoreAbsolutely amazing experience. The food is impeccable and the service is top knotch. Ill definitely be back soon. Big Thanks to the owner Allan for such a wonderful evening. Highly suggested.
MoreVery disappointed - waited almost 2hours for our food. Asked the waiter a number of times and he kept saying 5mins. Once the food arrived, it was mediocre - not up to their usual standard. We wont be going back. No owner/manager present either
MoreWent for supper with friends and was very impressed. The serving staff went out of their way to make us comfortable, the tapas were divine, and we were warned beforehand what items were unavailable. I would recommend the prawn tempura, the flatbread, the lamb chops and the chicken livers. The outdoor seating gave us a lovely view of Stanley Street. My one complaint was that the red wine was warmer than ideal, but we were offered ice to rectify the situation.
MoreI cannot even comment on the food as we never received any. Waited for 11/2 hours then told we had another half an hour to go. Not even a bowl of olives or flatbread produced. Shocking introduction to eating out in PE
MoreSimply a nice place with good food, nice atmosphere and lovely staff. Its very clean look gives it a very modern twist offering coziness and welcoming and homy feeling.
MoreThe two olives is a wonderful adresse for tapas. We had 6 different tapas and all of them were so delicious. Can‘t recommend enough. The stuff is very nice and promptly for questions or desires.Great!
MoreBoth my husband and I ate the hake bites, we were violently ill the next day. The time we were there previously the food was average to good, service was good both times. It’s a cold restaurant with an overpriced menu.
MoreWow! . . . . service was really good and the food was amazing! Weve been in South Africa a little over a week and this is the best meal weve has so far! We ordered about 12 tapas between 3 of us and e everything we ordered was top draw! Its advertised as a Greek restaurant but the tapas menu is considerable and seems more like Spanish/Portuguese restaurant to us. Particularly enjoyed the lamb spring rolls and chorizo croquettes. We would highly recommend this place.Kenny, United Kingdom
Morehi just visited the 2 olives...service an food was perfect . We ordered tapas an to be served when ready by chef . Service was more than efficient and connection of what we wanted was reassuring as they understood our requests and delivered. food exceptionally bordering on decadent fresh flavorsome tasty food .Respect to chef and his/her brigade...food and service was impeccable would recommend to any future visitorsthanks mark
MoreNice venue, great food, especially the seafood pizza!Thank you Layla for the exceptional service. We were the 6 rowdy Indians. 😁😁
MoreHad a Hake & Calamari as well as Dom Pedro as a birthday treat. Love the music and the staff are very friendly. Highly recommend Two Olives if you are looking for a small cosy restaurant to dine out.
MoreIt felt wonderful to sit on the balcony and enjoy a glass of champagne and dessert. The staff were very friendly and sufficient. Loved it!
MoreOutstanding service!! The focaccia is absolutely delicious.
Excellent! Outstanding tapas. Good service. Cant wait to get back there. Pity we live 700+ kms away.
MoreService was good - 4 StarsFood- Tappas Good 3 Stars- Espetada - Asked for medium Rare. Half of it was really rare. Full of sinu. One piece was 80% fat and unedible. At the price, no value for money - 1 Star- dessert was very appetising - 4 StarsOverall - Had no icecream. Waiter went to sister branch to borrow. Weird for a restuarant of this stature. 2 Stars
MoreThe restaurant has a nice cozy atmosphere which I enjoy. However the mash I had with the oxtail tasted like cheap margarine with some Smash, it smelled like someone was smoking even though its meant to be a smoke-free zone and they gave my friend someone elses take away when we left. I expected better for a place that charges upmarket prices.
MoreBest Restaurant I have been to in PE. The service was exceptional... friendly, professional . And the food was delicious.I would definitely be back!!
More- Long waitIt’s a tapas restaurant, so I was expecting the tapas to start flowing onto our table at some point. After a long wait, we started receiving one tapa/dish at a time and then waited a long time for our second tapa/dish, and the same for the third... This service goes against the concept of tapas.- Little portionsThe waiter advised us two to three tapas would be enough. Not accurate at all. Every portion was small and we were still hungry after finishing eating.+ Food (taste)Food was good and the menu is quite creative by combining different cuisines merged into tapas.
MoreGreat food and service. Gorgeous atmosphere with a comfortable environment. This restaurant is mainly a tapas restaurant with a great selection of tastes. It also has a great seafood pizza. However, this is not a restaurant I would recommend for casual dinner. The prices are heavier than most restaurants (Not astronomicaland it is because of the quality of food. I would suggest this restaurant for a special date night that is not on a budget. For starters - The 3 cheese springrolls were delicious with the side of cranberry sauce, but this was not value for money. It technically is 2 springrolls cut in half for R60. The pork belly was slightly over-priced as well for what was on the plate, but the presentation of the dish saved the day. The salt and pepper squid with sweet pineapple was the best dish of the evening. I recommend this dish as it was different and tasty. Be aware that the deep fried balls of cheese (The Suppliis filled with garlic. While I have no aversion to garlic, if you do - Avoid. The trio of dessert platter is a MUST with deep fried Lindt balls and the most delicious toblerone chocolate sauce. All-in-all a great experience.
MoreExcellent food - some of the best in PE. We usually order a number of tapas as our meal and you really cant go wrong with your order as everything is delicious! The staff are great too. My only slight critique is the somewhat bland/generic decor - I think they could do something more interesting and exciting to match the incredible food.
MoreGreat food but our table had a weird experience with a waiter who mixed up two dishes when he brought them to the table and he put them by the wrong people. By the time he came out to our table a few minutes later and realised his mistake, both diners had started eating the meals they were given (after having spoken to each other, they were each happy to keep what they were givenbut the waiter demanded that the one put their fork down because the food did not belong to them and he was going to give it to the person who had ordered it - who was sitting right there and had not complained nor were they consulted with about the mix up.Other than that and the slow service (yes we were a large table but bringing out one fish dish 30 minutes before bringing out other food - including other fish and seafood dishes - is not acceptable), we enjoyed the great food and the intimate atmosphere.
MoreIncredible! Incredibly amazing! Waiter was helpful and cheerful. Service great. Food was beyond top quality! Cant believe it took us so long to experience this.
MoreAbsolutely insanely great meal. Cant believe that its taken us this long to come here! Its gone straight to one of our favourites. I your the lamb pizza, and WOW! Blown away by the quality and generosity of it. My husband got the seafood pizza, which I definitely think sounds awful, but I think I might be getting next time, it was amazing! Really cant have enough! Well definitely be back soon.
MoreVery good restaurant at Port Elizabeth. The dishes, wine and service were great during our family dinner there. Excellent choice.
MoreReally enjoyed the evening at Two Olives. Been a couple of years since last we had visited here, and it was good to see that the food was still good and fairly well priced. Im giving it four stars, because of the stairs leading up, and it would be good if an elevator were installed for those who use wheelchairs, this is after all the 21st Century...
MoreIf youre ok with shocking service and the manageress of a restaurant SWEARING at you, then this is the place to go!!! Being PE locals and having eaten here plenty times before, my family and I decided to come here for what we hoped would be a special Christmas eve dinner. The restaurant was not full, but the service was very slow to the point where we had to chase the waiter and the manageress for an update on our meal on 3 occasions. From ordering shortly after we arrived at 8pm, it took 90 minutes for 4 tapas dishes to to be served. We were hesitant to order any further food, as we were concerned that we would be eating by midnight, but being absolutely starving we went ahead. It took the second lot of tapas an additional hour to arrive. By this stage it was 10:30pm and we were hungry, annoyed and completely over the entire experience, so sent the food back and settled the bill. Feeling very disappointed, I asked to speak to the manageress for a second time that night. After making me wait, she eventually came over to me with her toddler on her lap. I politely told her how disappointed we were with the night. Instead of apologising, she came up with every excuse under the sun - they were short staffed and there was a big table of foreigners (which 2 out of the 3 waiters focused all of their attention on). I calmly told her that that really wasnt my problem, She then made a further excuse about having her toddler with her to which I responded that that shouldnt have anything to do with the terrible service. She then hit the roof, querying whether I have any children (I dont), SWORE at me using an extremely derogatory word to describe females, and then stormed out on to the balcony to avoid any further confrontation. I dont care what line of business you are in, but NEVER do you swear at a paying customer who has expressed an opinion that you may not agree with. Im a strong feminist who sees nothing wrong with taking your children to work due to certain circumstances, but when it affects the way you do business, well then theres a problem. My family are in the hospitality business, and will never recommend this restaurant to guests and friends again!!!
MoreAbsolutely great meal there last week. Efficient friendly waiter that didnt intrude and both my wife and I were really pleased with our meals.
MoreOne of the best around. Amazing food
The food and service were excellent and repeatedly good, however they didnt have half the menu available and didnt communicate upfront, only after we ordered, twice. Will definitely be back and hope they get their stock issues under control
MoreFood was great but at least 5 items were unavailable to order upfront and then our waitress come back three times to tell us that various other items we ordered were no longer available on the menu. Bizarre experience.
MoreDelicious food. And quality is consistent. The owner -Jonathan- runs a tight ship and it is proven again and again. The setting is warm and cosy. Very Hygge. The outside deck is more tricky and personally I prefer sitting inside here.I have by now tried all the items on the menu and it is difficult to choose a favourite.Safest choice in Port Elizabeth.Thankyou Two Olives, for showing some pride in delivery, in a town and time when it is becoming rare to find.Wishing this business longevity and continued success.
MoreAbsolute best dining experience Ive had in PE. The food was unbelievably fresh and full of flavour. The service was incredible as well.Perfect location for any type of evening.
MoreOMG this is one of our favorite restaurants. I absolutely love the bone marrow. Overall great experience. Not a lot of choice on the desert side but who cares when you get 3 little pieces of heaven with the trio desert...
MoreI thoroughly enjoyed the seafood platter at this quaint little restaurant. Will definitely be visiting it again.
MoreVery good food and the staff were so friendly and helpful. Recommend!
Excellent food, service & reasonable prices.Very friendly staff & management , atmosphere ambient .
MoreI must admit Two Olives did not live up to much expectation. We specially came as a family for a birthday, and found the food and service to be so-so. Ontop of that, their floor is extremely slippery and someone slipped and fell. The restaurant feels as if it isnt complete yet as the decor is extremely sparse and minimalistic in all wrong ways.
MoreFood was good but extremely pricey for what you get. Waiter was rude & abrupt. Added tip on to the bill, without it been stated on before hand. The Gin & Tonics where crazy expensive, 2 drinks cost over R100.
MoreWhat a pleasant restaurant! At the end of PEs foodie district is Two Olives. The atmosphere is cozy and the food is top notch. Its also a great place to enjoy a glass of wine on the balcony and order something off the tapas menu. A firm favourite.
MoreThis is a place that has never failed me on flavourful, fresh tasting food. It’s absolutely worth a try.
MoreThe food was really good. It tasted fresh. We had great service from all staff. Id highly recommend it.
MoreI came here with a lot of expectations reading views about the ribs And the pizzaz. But for some reason they had run out of ribs at 1 in the afternoon. I ordered lamb Chops instead saying make it medium but instead they give me lamb Chops which were very rare. Most of the food orderd was oily. Overall not a good experience. Very disappointing.
MoreSo impressed with this restaurant, the food is really good and there is a really good selection to choose from. Loved eating there
MoreService is outstanding. Some dishes are pricey but definitely worth the visit. The tapas, pizzas (which are more reasonably priced than other mealsand lamb shanks are the winners!
MoreLiked the restaurant (lamb shank - way too saltybest ambiance, great free performance by Jay featuring FUSION. Served by the most grumpiest waiter in Port Elizabeth... but I will be back soon... They need happier waiters asap:(
MoreReally high class tapas food. Tastefully prepared and stylishly presented. The service was outstanding and the courses arrived promptly. Highly recommended.
MoreHighly recommend the restaurant. Really good food, friendly and quick service and a love setting.
MoreBest tapas - definitely a favourite place in Port Elizabeth. Have found the killer combo of tapas: lamb shank spring rolls + spare ribs + Lebanese beef kebabs + calamari tubes, Add in a salad and hand cut chips and this is the perfect meal for a couple. We cant get enough of this place and return again and again for the same meals. Very popular so ensure that you book to avoid disappointment.
MoreThis place is amazing! The staff are very nice and accommodating.Try those delicious ordersHalloumi, Beef kabobs, Greek salad, Halava ice cream, and the trio dessert.
