An all-day menu of Southern comfort food with a creative twist, plus craft beers & cocktails.
I came here for brunch last weekend. My fiance ordered the salted caramel and chocolate pancakes, which was burnt on the outside and completely raw inside. I got the tupelo honey shrimp and grits. I think the shrimp was undercooked because a few hours later I ended up with food poisoning. I ate only a small portion of my meal because of how off my food smelled. I ended up with 2 days of vomiting, diarrhea, and a fever of 101 F.The only saving grace of this restaurant was that our server comped the raw pancakes. I really wanted to like this place because of all the good things Ive heard. Unfortunately I had a terrible experience, will not be going back, and will not recommend this place to others.
The food was OUTSTANDING. Our server seemed a bit distracted, took a while to get to us, but we may have caught the tail-end of his Sunday brunch rush. He was really sweet and his coworkers pitched in to help once we got seated and rolling. I was thrilled with my food choice, the fried chicken was spiced well and moist, and the gravy was peppery and delicious, the biscuits were obviously handmade and absolutely amazing. Even the appetizer biscuits we received were so good we asked for a second order! And parking was easy, even on a busy Sunday afternoon!
Really good food! If youre going on a weekend, make a reservation. They get crazy busy on weekends and holidays. If you are able to go on a weekday, its much better. Their food is good. You can add chicken, shrimp, or salmon to their salads. You should try this place at least once. Five Star food. Four Star service when their packed.
Southern comfort food with a creative twist, amazing egg Benedicts and avocado toast. Very creative use of space, great outdoor seating. Surprisingly complementary biscuits with blueberry jam is really amazing. Good to have reservations, however service is excellent and food was served very fast.Creative brunch drinks 🍹 nd cocktails🍸
Great food and great service. We came here for brunch after my daughters graduation from UNCC. We were given a wait time but they did a great job of getting us seated a lot faster. Will definitely come here again. Parking is a challenge however so if you can catch the train I would advise it. Chris(ladyprovided excellent service.
The food was decent. I got the sweet & spicy chicken sandwich, with fries and a cup of soup.I mean, it was a chicken sandwich. It was good, but I feel I would have been better served getting a breakfast bowl. The soup was just ok. It was a cream of tomato. The biscuits were in point! I mean, dang! Those are some good biscuits!
I came here with some friends for Sunday brunch and was happy we got there early (9amsince it filled up fast! We luckily found parking pretty easily and were seated right away. The brunch menu is very large with a lot of options including lunch items like sandwiches. I will say the prices are a bit high, however everything was very good. We got a side of fried okra which is cooked perfectly and getting a side order of eggs gives you a very generous portion! Our waiter was very friendly and quick to serve us and take our order. I will say that it was very cold in the restaurant and I had to leave my coat on the whole time.Overall I would definitely recommend to visit in.
The food here was excellent and our waitress was spot on. My wife and I had never been to this place but decided to try something new. It was surely an experience I will not soon forget. I will be returning soon.
Cool restaurant. Service was fast and food arrived quickly. Prices are a little higher than other places, but is high quality. Had brunch and had no wait. Will have to climb two flights of stairs to enter, not sure if they have a elevator or not. Plenty of parking.
While visiting my daughter in Charlotte we took the light rail which stops right by Tupelo Honey. We decided to eat dinner there and we were not disappointed. Everything was delicious. They brought biscuits with jam and Tupelo honey 🍯 before the meal . Yummy! We both got meatloaf but with different sides . It was so good. Everything was seasoned just right and so flavorful. Really nice atmosphere too. The waitress named Morgan was very nice and really great!
First time here and the food and service was amazing! A lot of options on the menu, all day breakfast, and great vegetarian options. Indoor and outdoor seating. Big restaurant, but still managed to feel cozy. Big portion sizes, did I mention the food was great. And the jam they make, super delicious, and available for sale!
Glad I made reservations, so highly recommended. Went there on a Sun just after 1p and there was a wait for those who didnt hve reservations. The hostesses were friendly, the atmosphere was bubbly. The restaurant is huge has indoor n outdoor seating. Somewhat of a rustic decor had antique appearing furniture selectively placed throughout the space. Our server was "Emily" she was very charming. Had the complimentary biscuits w/ made-from-scratch blueberry preserve. Forgot to take a pic of that, 🤦🏾♀️. The food came out in no time and was ohhhhhh so very delish!!! Looking fwd to visiting again when next in CLT!!!
The biscuits with blueberry jam were very delicious. I was disappointed with the omelette I ordered and the fact that the mimosa I ordered was heavy on the champagne after I had requested it another way. Overall fun atmosphere, and charming decorations.
This restaurant was recommended by someone we met in the library downtown. We were told it was a fun, child friendly place. The menu was different, but still familiar. I absolutely loved the banana pudding french toast! I would eat it again for sure! The tomato soup was very spicy, but good. The childs pasta dish was overpriced and just pasta with parmesan cheese. My child ate it but I think it was $6 and there was a puddle of water in the bottom of the dish. The atmosphere was great, we were there on a Thursday, early dinner time. We ate outside and the weather was perfect and we enjoyed the flowers and decor. I would recommend this restaurant for sure.
Our server was incredible! The food was delicious and so were the drinks. I enjoyed the ambiance and will be coming back regularly. Not to mention, they serve you with sturdy cardboard straws to #savetheturtles
Going to tupelo honey for the first time was quite the experience. When walking in, your greeted by a few friendly faces that will help you get situated. After sitting down and ordering, the bring you THE best drop biscuits you will have . Big, dense, flavorful biscuits. Give me a whole plate of that!We had 8 in our party and most of us ordered the chicken and biscuits. I have to say, the gravy on the biscuits was not great, i preferred it without. I also asked for it the way it came, everyone else wanted bacon instead of ham and mine came out with bacon. Its fine, but would have preferred ham. The fried chicken was wonderfulWish we had gotten dessert, will have to go back a second time to try more stuff. Really enjoyed it.
I enjoyed this place so much I brought my husband back to eat here. The biscuits and honey are really mouth watering. The menu is southern cuisine at its finest...and the mimosas arent bad either...😁
Todays visit was undesirable. We sent cold fries back for two of us and one drink back. Our food was not hot, we fought fruit flies while we were trying to eat and our waitress although nice she took a long time to bring things back to our table. The burgers are very small. If you like grits they only serve grits with goat cheese already mixed in..no regular grits. The chicken on the pancakes was ok but it would be better if the chicken wasnt so greasy dont worry the pancake soaked up the grease but you would not want to eat that pancake. Just speaking from my experience.
Great service, our server was helpful and hilarious. Told us about the blueberries and advised me to get the delicious mojito. All of the food was great but the friend green tomatoes and the in house brined chicken were incredible! The chicken was super well cooked and flavorful. The fried green tomatoes are on a bed of flavored grits and the pairing was beyond expectations.Fried okra was nice with the dip. Would recommend for a party of 3+ as its a solid serving.
I visited Tupelo Honey with family and I really enjoyed the breaksfast and ambiance. The wait was long, so we were given dessert for compensation which was nice. I would definitely visit here again when I come back to Charlotte!
Wait was ridiculous, however we did not complain once and the manager was generous enough to give us a free dessert. Chicken kind of let me down with not enough flavor, my daughters grilled cheese was very hard. But our service was great, the sweet tea was good, and the atmosphere was really nice. Next time we try I plan to go for the dinner menu.
Nice place to have a brunch date. Food was delicious, wait staff was great, and there is indoor and outdoor seating available.
Excellent food...excellent service from Jay who greeted us with biscuits and blueberry preserves! We started with an appetizer of spicy cauliflower and crispy brussel sprouts. Spicy cauliflower was fried with jalapenos paired with some version of a ranch dipping sauce...amazing! The crispy brussel sprouts were not as big of a hit...but different. I ate from the brunch menu the Shoo mercy omelet...packed with bacon, ham, fried green tomatoes, and pimento cheese with a side of potato cracklings (lol). Hubby had the fried chicken. Definitely a great spot for brunch.
Tupelo honey is that modern yet rustic restaurant that everyone who isnt from the South pictures when they think of Southern food.We went there on a Saturday at 1100 for brunch and we were promptly seated. The patio had a slight breeze with a bit of sunshine peeking through that made our experience much more enjoyable. I started with the Sweet and Tart mimosa with grapefruit and blueberry puree. It was refreshing, tart and not too sweet. I ordered the Shoo Mercy Shrimp and grits and I was pleased with the amount of shrimp and how plump and perfectly cooked it was. The kale was just wilted right, but the "blistered" tomatoes were raw and I doubt made it for even a send on the grill. The grits were a bit lumpy, but the flavor was on pointe. My husband had the Steak and eggs which he polished off, but my son who ordered the Fried Chicken and biscuits said his chicken was a bit on the dry side. The white gravy helped a bit, but I was disappointed with that dish overall.
Had brunch here and it is a very busy place on a Sunday. Bacon was delicious as were the goat cheese grits. French toast was good and their blueberry compote really adds the perfect amount of sweet. The prices are very reasonable. The best deal is the make your own combo.
Great place with a delicious fresh menu. It can get pretty busy at times so it is a good idea to make reservations. Just was there for brunch and enjoyed a nice time in the outside seating.
Great service, large portions of fried chicken. Appetizers were all delicious. Favorites were the Appalachian pork, goat cheese grits and banana pudding.
Brunch was AMAZING!! Service was great. Best brunch Ive ever had. This dish is the very popular fried chicken on top of the sweet potato pancakes. To die for!!
This is one of the first restaurants in Charlotte that we went to when moving here. It has become one of our top brunch places we bring our out of town friends. The food is really good and the manager and wait staff are excellent.Highly recommend! Also, make sure you use OpenTable to reserve a spot, this place fills up fast!
Very delicious food- down one star ONLY because my sweet potato pancakes did not seem to have any sweet potato in them ... the Tupelo honey in Asheville was on point with the sweet potato. Overall great food, cute space and very big bowls/plates 😋 (ps the shop shrimp and grits are spicy )
Amazing food, service, cocktails AND BISCUITS! All sustainable and as locally sourced as feasible. The honey is to die for! I had a sweet (honeyand spicy (sirachafried chicken with homemade pickles and roasted veggies. Menu changes seasonally. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner available.
Currently here. Reservation at 2pm. Ordered at 2:05pm. Food came out at 2:53. We only ordered 2 items. The place is next to empty today (Labor Day). Ridiculous. Also... after all that time, my shrimp and grits came out without the chorizo I asked for. The hits keep coming. The table next to us got their food in 15 min. UPDATE: Manager Chris was very accommodating and apologetic and friendly. The food is good too. Issue was never with the food quality.
I had high hopes for this restaurant, but I ended up disappointed in the process. The food was mediocre at best and definitely not worth the $70 price tag. Here are the list of issues we had:1. We had a reservation, told the hostess we had a reservation and we were on time, but she said it would be a minute before she could get us seated. while we where waiting to more parties showed up and we had a bottle neck in the entrance. Now if it was busy I could understand but the place was pretty empty. So whatever extra duties you have the hostess doing is leaving your guests with a bad first impression. It tooks a good 5 minutes to get seated in an empty restaurant.2. Ordered the South Carolina Egg Rolls. I was expecting something grand, what came was a fried tube of white bland mush, I for sure didnt see any pork or taste any pickled radish other then the garnish.3. Entrees. I ordered the shrimp n grits with the extra chorizo, I could not tell if I received the chorizo but I am pretty sure I didnt, with a side of fries. The grits had an excellent taste but the shrimp had been towards the end of their usable shelf life and my fries didnt come out until I was done with my meal. My girlfriend had the fried chicken, now for $20+ I would hope that chicken would be something special but it wasnt. Rates well below the $4 fried chicken at the shell gas station just down the road. That said the restaurant is beautiful and I hope you get things straightened out because you have a great concept but the execution is failing.Good Luck
Great atmosphere, dog friendly patio, very good food. Had the Carolina steak and eggs medium with over easy eggs, everything was cooked perfectly. Staff 10/10, food 10/10. Would visit again without hesitation.
Food was delicious, the waitress was fun and I loved my lavender lemondrop martini, tasty! I ordered the shrimp and grits which was great, next time Ill try the sweet potato pancakes.
Long waits, over cooked eggs, and decent but not great Bloody Mary characterized our meal. Would go again but plenty of better brunch places in the area.
Really enjoyed our food. Got the Fried Green Tomatoes for an appetizer. They were good. Had a nice crisp outside and the grits were creamy and complimentes with the pepper drizzle. We ordered the Low Country Blackened Catfish which my wife really enjoyed. The sweet potatoes could have used a little more cinnamon, but the Mac and cheese was really good and tasted homemade. We also got the Vegetable Pot Pie and it was good as well. The gravy was creamy and flavorful. The vegetables all had the same general texture so it could have used something to differentiate the veggies. The pastry on the top was very flake and help break up the veggies. The Mason Jar banana pudding was tasty. The banana were a little cold and firm, but still tasty. Will be back to try other items.
Shoo Mercy Sweet Potato Pancakesreally good. Chicken crispy outside, moist inside. Pancake was delightful. Happy tastebuds and tummy.Crowded Sunday brunch but I didnt feel like customers were on top of each other.Reservations recommended.Parking can be a pain for Sunday brunch as well.
First time visiting and dining at Tupelo Honeys. Friends invited us for our first visit. I have to say I looked online at their menu. I was not impressed and I was sceptical, but as I told my wife that we would put on a good face and go with our friends. Let me make it perfectly clear, I was wrong to be sceptical. It was an incredible meal and incredible experience. I HIGHLY recommend this to anyone and everyone.
Great place! Food was phenomenal. Fried chicken sandwich, with hot honey, the best frenchfries I have ever had, fried green tomatoes. Will definately visit again.
Great food, even better ampiance. And our server was very sweet/pretty!Definitely lived up to my expectation.
Awesome place. Its on the second floor so you think youll miss it according to maps directions. Silver Margarita was great. Grilled chicken avocado was fantastic. Chicken tacos are delicious. Fried chicken is excellent.
I tried the brunch dish with beets and it was phenomenal! The ambiance and service were excellent as well with a cozy homey feel and friendly attentive waiters.
Almost there is how I would describe this restaurant. Service was great, atmosphere great, food almost there. It is priced slightly higher and therefore one would expect great food. I would not describe my food as great but as pretty good. This would be a place I would definitely try again, as my first experience could have been a small blip. One dish we ordered captured our experience perfectly. We order the sweet potato cakes with fried chicken. The pancakes were spot on, the chicken however was a little dry, and seemed over cooked. The fry on the chicken was flavorful and had a good crunch, it was “almost there.”Coffee was good. Free biscuits before our meal was a nice touch.
The biscuits were good and grilled okra had a great flavor with a little spice. I also enjoyed the fried chicken and gravy. The gravy was so good I ordered extra. The glazed salmon was just ok, as was the sparkling blueberry. The reason I gave the restaurant 3 stars instead of more was due to the extreme slowness of the service. The restaurant had a total of 5 tables at the time I visited and it took close to an hour and a half for the food. I would go back for the food, but not the service. Maybe ordering it for take out might speed up the process.
I came here for brunch 3 years ago and wasnt that impressed compared to the hype I had heard. I recently went for a Jack Daniels event and was very impressed. The cocktails were very good and the food was also delicious. I think the food was specific to the event, but they had chorizo and pimento cheese nachos, bbq pulled pork biscuits, and mini pecan pie cups. For some reason they thought it was a good idea to serve a hot drink in a copper Moscow mule cup (which conducts heat), so you burned yourself if you touched the cup and the drink never cooled down to be able to take more than a sip. Overall, it was a great event and Ill be coming back to check out their dinner menu!
Decided to try this place while my boyfriend and I were in Charlotte. Kinda hard to get to the parking, but had no problems otherwise. We chose to eat outside on the patio. It was a nice day and a bit chilly inside. My boyfriend had the sweet tea chicken and I had the trout. It was the best fish Ive ever had. Will be back again!
Hubby and I decided to try this place for Mothers Day - so glad we did! The wait was worth it, even with our 8 month old. Our server was fantastic - she gave us great food recommendations and loved on our sweet boy every time she came to the table. Very attentive! And the food. Yall. I cant even give you words, you just need to go. Definitely the best brunch weve had since moving to NC! It was a beautiful spring day, so we enjoyed our meal on the lovely patio. Very relaxing!
Excellent restaurant to go to for some food. The biscuits with jam and honey are always the best. The place itself has a cool layout and is clean. All the staff was helpful and friendly.
Spicy pecan pancakes with a generous portion of chicken on the side? Yes please. Great spot for the local cuisine, brunch can feature green fried tomatoes to go with your morning mimosa. Definitely make reservations.
