Bayside park featuring shaded grassy areas, a promenade & a big statue of a sailor kissing a nurse.
Really peaceful and clean park. Felt safe when we went at night. The views were also incredible. Definitely a must go when you visit San Diego.
Great weather helped this wee visit to "The Kiss".Its a must see if youve got time for a walk on the shore front....🤟
Amazing place, theres a parking right there
Beautiful views of the harbor.
Great scenic bike tour we went on here and got to see all the boats and museums along the boardwalk lots of restaurants and bars to choose from for a great afternoon out.
The shops along the wharf were so convenient. The story of these two love birds after the war was beautiful.
This larger than life sculpture is great to see if youre in that area. Ive been to the life size one in DC but this one really moved me.
Beauty views. Lots to see.
Nice place by the way. With plenty of room for outdoors activities. Pretty views. There are some historical landmarks too. Right near the USS Midway Museum.
Its a nice park and sun set is very beautiful here. Getting parking in the weekend is difficult
Beautiful scenery, cool little shops and good restaurants!
This is a must see in San Diego. We were fortunate to see this from our hotel window so we walked over to find out what it was all about. Cool statutes and photo spots! Check these out.
This is a must-see every time in San Diego. It never gets old. If you get a chance to take the tour of the aircraft carrier its a must. I highly recommend at night.
Awesome way to celebrate our Freedom and the sacrifice Soo many made for us. Thank you to All our Veterans.
To start with, parking was a pain to find and parking is tight as well. They also have parking meters so make sure you bring some change and/or have a credit card handy. The park was very well kept and the views provided were extraordinary! Loved all the historic details and writing about it. Being able to see the USS Midway was amazing as well! If youre in the San Diego area, I would highly recommend seeing this landmark.
Great family park honoring the military and Bob Hope.
Beautiful and lots to admire of its surrounding.
Nice little spot for a walk to see the sights
An interesting visit, not very much to do but the Bob Hope exhibit talking to the navy soldiers as he did in real life was the highlight and a great experience.
I live nearby. Watching sunset here is my favorite thing to do when Im day off..
Beautiful park set on the ocean front between the USS Midway museum and the Fish Market restaurant. The park while small has amazing views, the 25 foot tall kissing statue (see more on the statue belowand the Bob Hope memorial park with its looped recordings of a portion of his many U.S.O. comedy shows.(The "kissing sailor" statue is 25 feet tall, weighs 6,000 pounds and is called "Unconditional Surrender," by J. Seward Johnson, although the city of San Diego has officially labeled it the "Embracing Peace" statue. The statue itself is a remarkably accurate replica of the famous 1945 Life magazine photograph it is based on.)
Neat views 9f the Bay and aircraft carriers, and of course the Statue!
Always an amazing place to visit and remember the sacrifices men and women made for America 🇺🇸. We are truly blessed to be able to walk the boardwalk and enjoy a sunset with those we love. Great weekend with my beautiful 😍 bride walking the boardwalk of San Diego.
Park was clean.Views were great.Grass was cut.Dog was walked.
No matter how many times your here, you will always see something new. Must try Miguels restaurant, people coming in from streetside and in, from the "boat dock". Our waitress was very helpful and professional. Plan for at least 3 hours for parking permit, take a picture of your car plate and take with to ticket machine, place ticket at cars dash then, walk and enjoy the area. If your not a good walker, there are guys with big tricycles that will taxi multiple riders. More than one parking lot, find yours, park car then purchase parking ticket.
Amazing views of the U.S.S. Midway! Also features statues of Bob Hope with troops with the sound of his voice in the background cracking his iconic jokes. Love the Kissing Statue as well!
Nice view and good running place.
This place always puts a smile on my face. I love watching couples doing the kiss in front of the statue, and the Bob Hope statue is great.
Fun place for a stroll, with the USS Midway as a breathtaking backdrop
Unique park next to the aircraft carrier USS Midway. Also has the statue of the sailor kissing the nurse. Great spot to walk near the water and also has a Bob Hope memorial.
The Bob Hope memorial is a nice addition to this little park in the city. Street food vendors lining the walk ways leading up to the fish market and restaurant on the edge of the water attracts plenty of tourists while keeping the honey welcoming vibe that is San Diego.
Such a historic place to visit. The ocean breeze and sunshine are perfect when going for a walk. If youre in San Diego make sure you stop by.
Great place to have your coffee in the morning. Make sure to arrive extraction early like 8am if you want to take pictures solo with no other people there..
This statue was magnificent. You cant help but feel like you were there on the Tuna Harbor was very entertaining. Clean.
Nice park. Very clean. Good memorial for the sailors and vessels lost. The midway is so impressive in person. I had seen carriers before but never that close. The Bob Hope tribute was a pleasant surprise also.
Nice place to walk around. Love the history. Definitely a place you should visit if coming from out of tien
It was my first time there. Its a beautiful place. Very relaxing. All San Diego is beautiful and clean. There are a few attractions there and a few restaurants. Just park and have a walk.
Parking is free for 3 hours. You can get nice photos here or just sit and relax. Try to visit in the evening with the sunset the view is amazing.
The streets were lined with rental bicycles yet I wanted to walk. Slowly I made my way through this amazing historical area! I am proud to be an American.
Had a beautiful time. Take your time, stroll, and enjoy what the harbor has to offer. Stop and get you a fishbowl drink, window shop or browse the shops, check out the naval ship, walk down from the famous statue and "see" a Bob Hope performance to the soldiers. I highly recommend!
A must photo while in San Diego. Enjoy the ships coming in and out. Can visit before or after touring the USS Midway Museum.
Really cool place if youre interested in our military history
Working on as of May 21 shaping up nice! Best Views of SD. Your looking back at from across bay!
This is a great place to visit!! View of the USS midway is amazing and the kissing statue is perfect for taking pics! IG:@kid594 #BeinKids
Great place and always looks beautiful if you go into the USS Midway you can get some coins 🪙 of the statues
A nice little park/memorial by the beach, next to the USS Midway Museum, so make sure to visit them both on the same trip
Great little park area next to the Midway. The Bob Hope Military Memorial is exceptionally nice. Theres a statue of Bob along with various statues of members of the military. They are watching him as he performs his comedy routine. The soundtrack plays many of his jokes and you can hear the military audience applause in the background with each punchline. Well worth a visit.
Great park on the San Diego Bay. Several statue groups can be viewed for "free," including "The Kiss" (identical to the one seen in Sarasota, FLas well as a dedication to Bob Hope as he entertains a small crowd.Metered parking is available (hence the term "free" earlier), but there is no charge until 10:00 a.m. at the time of this writing. The Wharf Park spans several naval displays ranging from "Tall Ships" to an aircraft carrier. There is a charge to visit these ships.Beautiful setting near down town San Diego and very popular, based on my observation on the number of people walking about on a Tuesday morning in January.
After parking in Seaport Village we took a walk along the waterfront to get a view of the USS Midway. As you walk along Harbor Drive towards the Midway not only will you see some beautiful views, an occasional vendor, but some magnificent monuments as tributes to those that have served and serve in the military. We chose to view the Midway from Tuna Park. Its massive. But Tuna Park houses its own treasures. Obviously you cant miss the massive statute of Embracing Peace. What you might miss is the total display of the National Salute to Bob Hope and the Military. You can see the statute of Bob Hope but if you dont walk up to you might miss out. Theres a recording of Bob Hope entertaining the troops and they are all there in a semicircle. Some are injured, some have signs for Bob. This is truly a work of art.
It was a nice place to visit. I am a Navy veteran and really liked the Embrace Peace Kissing Statue. The Salute to Bob Hope and the Troops Memorial actually played a recording of his comedy routine from when he visited the troops.I thought this was pretty cool! There were people from various parts of the world that were there taking pictures. If you want food you dont have to leave the area.Located next to the Bob Hope memorial is The Fish Market Restaurant where you can get some amazing FRESH seafood! Its right on the water and has an amazing view of the bay.
