Tuatara Cafe / Bar - Cafe in Invercargill, New Zealand
Had a nice bruuunch there on saturday the 5th of november, got pancakes and they were good but they made me feel hella sick so I didnt eat anything for the rest of the day. But the pancakes were really good.
Lovely breakfast.
Busy vibrant place with a large selection of craft beers, many of which are brewed on site. Menu choices are limited to pizza (and a few sides but they are pretty good. They are of the more traditional very thin large diameter style. Gets busy so you might want to book ahead of you want a table to eat at.
Great beers and great pizza..... enough said!
Got pancakes and a coffee. Great service. Catered well for a big group of us.Coffee was great. Cheers.
Great breakfast and awesome coffee ☕
Great pizza, great service. Loved the beer range, especially from the brewery.
I have just had a whitebait sandwich. Absolutely delicious and the salad was almost better than the sandwich.
Food was nice but drinks were a Huge disappointment I thought I ordered a chocolate shake which turned out to be just vanilla ice cream and milk and considering Night and day only charge around $5.50 $10 dollars wasn’t worth it won’t be looking forward to coming back.
Great beer. Best selection in invercargill.Great pizza. Great vibe.
Terrible and irresponsible customer service. The kitchen is supposed to be open until 2:30, but it closed earlier and at 2:10 they refused to prepare a meal. What is the point of writing in your schedule false information that does not correspond to reality? Never going back again.
Good food but not clean ,there were no cleared tables when we ordered so we sat with no table till they cleared them then waited for them to wipe them down but they didnt ,1 table had salt all over it and another had food on it so we changed table with a reserved clean table before we got our food and even that didnt look very clean with wipe marks all over the glass table top and being busy is not an excuse because we watched them doing nothing and yarning when they should of been cleaning, we even seen people walk in and walk straight back out as they couldnt find a clean table
Staff were friendly but unorganised and service was average. Expensive place to eat/drink. Has a large selection of craft beers, sadly this is about all it’s got going for it. 2 stars is justified.
Total lack of customer service. Pity as its a nice place. Perhaps just a case of rude and unhelpful staff
PreBooked a table for 1.00pm on a Sunday and when ordering our meals found they had virtually run out of food and the coffee was only warm. Wont b back.
1st time going there excellent food and friendly staff. Great will be back.
Best pizza in town, on Wednesday night.
Waited over an hour for one pizza, and watched people who arrived after us get served their food before us ,the manager was most definitely not professional either.....DO NOT RECOMMEND!!!!!
Great pizza. Love the cider and the pale ale. Also a great place for breakfast before work
Great place good service and lovely food
Delicious pizza, large portions and warm atmosphere
Excellent beer selection, cool atmosphere and great service. The pizzas are the bomb. Highly recommend.
Their big breakfast never disappoints! Always tastes amazing & is cooked perfectly!
Coffee & atmosphere great! Food not so. Very overcooked, soggy batter cod. On pancake meal had 2 SMALL pieces of banana, not even half a banana! The prices on printed menu are different to blackboard menu....!! Wont go again
Great atmosphere, great pizzas and an ever changing range of craft beers on tap. An establishment that goes from strength to strength, a Southland trip is not complete without a visit. Great place to meet the local couleur locale.
Like they do good coffee and have vegan food so that’s awesome, but none of their staff wear masks or seem to care about it which is a massive turn off
Probably the nicest bar in town. Good selection of craft beers, nice atmosphere and friendly staff. Will definitely return next time I am in town. Cheers!
Breakfast was great. Loved the fresh squeezed juice. Coffee could have been better, but overall pretty tasty.
None of the staff were wearing masks. Id understand the kitchen where its hot, but I saw none of the wait staff or people behind the counter wearing a face mask. Made me very uncomfortable
My favourite cafe in Invercargill CBD is just amazing! Great long black roast every time and the green leafy interior is so calming/lovely to sit in.
Fabulous coffee, atmosphere and recommend the muesli breakfast... very filling and tasty.
Had beautiful breakfast here, substantial serve of toast and spreads. Only down side cold butter hard to spread. Warm service and relaxed atmosphere with nice music
Always a reliable place to go for a beer or a nice breakfast to start the day.
Although the decor is a bit kitschy the cafe has good food , exceptional coffee and the best part 17 craft beers on tap.
I had a pork bun and a cup of tea. Both were great the pork wasnt dry like some I have had. Staff were very attentive and polite. The cvid scanning was behind the door and hard to see. I know that it may be odd to have the doors open but perhaps it could be in a more prominent place. Overall a pleasant place to have a meal.
Really enjoyed our two meals we ended up having here. Breakfast was awesome and lunch from the cabinet was good. Great vibes and staff. Was one of the only places open early on Boxing Day.
Excellent drinks and food. Cool vibe here. Will come again
Great craft beer range and at a same price for all beer which is helpful. Food was tasty and reasonably priced. Only place with wine on tap in Invercargill, and the red was good temperature for on tap. All this and the recent building work has given his place its 5 star rating, comfortable couches with heaps more space, and I will be back again!
Great spot! Early start so coffee, and the eggs on toast did not disappoint. Home made bread was excellent and you cab buy a loaf for home! Good friendly service.
How rude can someone be?Well, get to this place and you will soon know.We were having drinks at that place this morning while the manager/waitress came and gently asked us to leave.Ok, its public holiday, we got it: you just wanna make more money from other clients.I was still busy drinking my tea.The 4 of us were really disappointed by such a behavior.
We go here quite a bit as theres not many other places to go near the library. Its pretty good food wise unless its busy then you have to wait a while. The outdoors area is nice but the staff can be quite rude. Not helpful at all.
Nice and cozy place for morning sugar rush 😍😍friendly staff and fast service 😄
Perfect coffee, thank you for my morning fix. The whitebait sandwich was light and tasty, and the service was friendly.
The Tuatara Cafe has great coffee and its in a central location with handy street parking options for a quick bite, (or the library carpark is only a few doors down - the top level is free for 2 hours). Its one of the best places to brunch & lunch in Invercargill, if youre after quality casual dining, that has a decent range of options for Vegetarians.Order off the menu, or you can choose something tasty that catches your eye, from the cabinet.I can never resist a takeaway sweet treat when theyre not sold out, - Its the best Hazelnut Caramel Slice Ive ever tasted!
Decent enough atmosphere and good selection of food but the customer service is entirely lacking. After ordering food was sticking around with friends for a half an hour and was asked to leave. Except the entire Cafe was empty aside from my small group. Really not a great way to treat paying customers.
Amazing customer service! Thats what I am looking for staff working frontline. Very accommodating, friendly and wears a smile. Whats good about the service people/customers are not intemidated to get what they want. It was a great experience and stay while we wait for the movie house across to open. Free Wi-Fi which is so helpful for my part as i got my Wee man with me and I can easily turn on YouTube, so cool!👏
I ordered the eggs benedict for $17 which is really reasonable. Well presented, good portion of bacon and spinach. The only thing that let it down was that the eggs were overcooked. Not runny at all, almost hard boiled. Other than that not bad!
Well the music was fine but I am not sure I have encountered ruder wait staff except in a NYC deli. At least in NY it is an art form. This was pure rudeness. Dont get the toast concoction. Coffee was tasteless. I didnt know that was possible.
Good vibes, reasonable prices and friendly staff. You must try the pizza if you visit this cafe as it tastes EXACTLY (if not betterthan the pizza I tried while in Italy. It is very authentic and whoever is making them deserves a pay rise! 5* from me.
Nice decor, quick service, good location.
