Largest suspension type of bridge in Hong Kong to connect park island with other City, length of span is about more than 1300 meters, very attractive structure in the engineering point of view, one out of several tourist attractions, must see
The Tsing Ma Bridge is the worlds longest suspension bridge that includes both road and rail traffic. The main span is 1.47 km in length while its height is 206 metres. It connects Tsing Yi and Ma Wan islands as part of a greater expanse of bridges and road that links Lantau Island to the rest of Hong Kong. The name Tsing Ma comes from the two small islands mentioned above. The Tsing Ma Bridge opened to the public in 1997 and was considered an engineering marvel in its day. It is an impressive looking structure as you approach and take the bridge, it may look even better at night when the bridge is lit up with lights.Your best chance to encounter and experience the Tsing Ma Bridge is by way of public bus or taxi transportation between the city and Hong Kong International Airport or Disneyland which are both on Lantau Island. If you have particular interest in viewpoints where you can see the bridge, you may want to consider visiting the Lantau Link Viewing Platform on Tsing Yi Island. From this elevated platform area, the bridge can be viewed very well when sky conditions are favourable. There is also a Visitor Centre with displays related to the bridge as well.
Really nice looking bridge. Sometimes there may be traffic in the morning (7:00-8:30 amdue to lots of vehicles and also in the afternoon (6:00-8:00)
Tsing Ma bridge is huge, it provide different view in different time, at the daytime, it is an elegant style, at the night time, it is a colourful landmark on the sea. This bridge is really meaningful for Hong Kong. This is the first impression of Hong Kong when we enter in the main island from Hong Kong international airport. The city view from Tsing Ma bridge is awesome and everybody is able to take beautiful pictures to show off. I think if you have an eye for engineering feats, then go to this bridge. It has superb views over the Ocean. Some great view points to look across. It has information boards also which explaining the engineering stages of the bridge.
Really nice looking bridge but its busy hours like at 7:00 - 8:00 pm, there may be traffic.
It is a very beautiful bridge and it is more at sunset or sunrise, I use this bridge every time I go to the airport, and so far this bridge is still impact
The longest car and rail suspension bridge in the world - whats not to like!Make sure to visit the official visitors centre and viewpoint for some in depth looks at how this beast was constructed.
A magnificent bridge connecting the Lantau Island to the mainland part of Hong Kong. Its one of the longest suspension bridge in the world.
nice looking and functional bridge. it was built with 22 miles of freeway and new airport in 13 years. At the same time. San Francisco- Oakland Bay Bridge east span was built only 5 miles in USA.
Casa grand Asta very decently designed and the project has 2 BHK 2 toilet 2BHK 1 toilet 3BHK 3 toilet and 4BHK 4 toilet lifestyle apartment within the city range where all the facilities nearby and it is secured gated community with all the latest international lifestyle amenities. It also has a river view apartments which is added advantage to the property Nd it is about to hand over situation. It is stilt plus 4 structure building where underground is fully allocated for car parking and also the plan consistent of internal podium to ensure all the apartment has abundance light and ventilation.
Longest bridge of its kind, connecting Tsing Yi and Ma Wan and allowing land traffic to go to the HKIA.There is a scenic viewpoint where you can see this bridge and the adjacent Ting Kau Bridge at the same time. You can normally see departure or arrival (depends on the runwayflights from HKIA up there.Meter parking are abundant.Public transport is difficult.
Amazing bridge with wonderful views. It is world 11th largest span suspension bridge, and was second longest at the time of completion. The bridge is named after the two islands it connects, namely Tsing Yi and Ma wan. It is longest suspension bridge with both rail and road traffic in the world. It is 1377 meter long and 206 meter in height. It was completed in April 1997.
When we landed in Hong Kong we took the double dekker bus to our hotel and drove this route. What a great start to our stay with the amazing breathtaking scenery and beautiful bridges. It was love at first sight!
The Tsing Ma Suspension Bridge, is the main bridge connecting the city centre of Hong Kong to the Chek Lap Kok International Airport, and vice versa, albeit the fact that its not crowded and the traffic is smooth at almost all times here. The panoramic view towards the oceans and the mountainous backdrop of the Island is indeed spectacular, at least that was the case for me during my latest stay in 2011, with light breeze blowing and the atmosphere of the environment being very calm. It is best recommended to sit at the upper deck of the double-decker bus while crossing the bridge for the best experience, as suggested by many as well.
As of April 2019Good view from upper deck bus seats just take a look here at my pictures
Best way to travel between Macau main land and Taipa Cotai Strip. Most hotels shuttle runs through it. Same can be seen from Macau tower with a spectacular view.
Astonishing bridge as we passed by on the way to the Airport.
An iconic structure built as part if the new airport infrastructure more than 20 years ago. It was opened by Margaret Thatcher, and I watched the opening ceremony from a boat more than 2 decades ago. This bridge connects Lantau Island and Hong Kong International Airport to the New Territories and rest if Hong Kong.
The construction work is great and its the longest suspension bridge of this type in the world (Upper deck for cars and theres a railway in the lower deck. The night view, you cant miss.
its a very important bridge in HK, it links up the airport to the downtown, and the look of this bridge is also beautiful and its has been one of the icon in hk.Took the airport bus and crossed this bridge to the Hong Kong International Airport.
Tsing Ma bridge is a bridge in Hong Kong. It is the worlds 9th longest span suspension bridge, and was the second longest at time of completion. The bridge was named after two of the islands at I ends, namely Tsing Yi and Ma Wan. It has two decks and carries both road and rail traffic, which also makes it the largest suspension bridge of this type. The bridge has a main span of 1,377 metres (4,518 ftand a height of 206 metres (676 ft). The span is the longest of all bridges in the world carrying rail traffic. The 41-metre-wide (135 ftbridge deck carries six lanes of automobile traffic, with three lanes in each direction. The lower level contains two rail tracks and two sheltered carriageways used for maintenance access and traffic lanes when particularly severe typhoons strike Hong Kong and the bridge deck is closed to traffic.
The Tsing Ma Bridge crosses the Ma Wan Channel, linking the islands of Tsing Yi and Ma Wan. It is part of the Lantau Link, which links the New Territories and Lantau Island, and eventually leads to the Hong Kong International Airport on Chek Lap Kok via the North Lantau Highway. The Tsing Ma Bridge is an important gateway to Lantau Island. It is part of the Route 8 expressway, which connects the Lantau Link, the West Kowloon expressway, Cheung Sha Wan and Shatin. The rail line is shared by the MTRs Tung Chung Line and Airport Express. The bridge, together with other highway, bridge and tunnel connections in the area, are part of the Tsing Ma Control Area under the Tsing Ma Control Area Ordinance (Cap. 498in Hong Kong Law.[18] The control area has been managed by Tsing Ma Management Limited since opening. The control areas traffic management system was developed by Delcan Corporation of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Special regulations and by-laws apply in the area.Along with the Ting Kau Bridge and Kap Shui Mun Bridge, the bridge is monitored by the Wind and Structural Health Monitoring System (WASHMS). Surveillance cameras are also installed on the bridge to record traffic conditions. The video is available at the government website.[19] It is updated every two minutes.Tolls on the Lantau Link—of which Tsing Ma Bridge is a part—for motorcycles, private cars, public double-decker buses and heavy goods vehicles are HK$20, $30, $60 and $80 respectively, charged only for the eastbound direction from Lantau to Tsing Yi.[20] The normal speed limit on the bridge is 80 kilometres per hour (50 mph), subject to lowering in the event of road work or strong wind. Traffic may also be directed to the sheltered carriageways on the lower deck when there are very strong winds. There are no pavements on the bridge.
Its a big bridge. Perfect for getting from one side to another. Even works in reverse.Traditionally bridges are used to go over things, such as ravines, or rivers (other things can be crossed by bridges too), and this bridge follows this tradition.
The best way to experience the great view of Tsing Ma Bridge is to take a bus and sit on the upper deck front row.
Good view, comfort place and cold
Hong Kong is a city very easy to fall in love with. Its scenic beauty is unique. But what makes it outstanding is the way one gem is connected to another. I have travelled to Lantau by many modes. Best of course is the long ropeway. But Tsing Ma Bridge too is another alternative. It is the worlds 11th-longest span suspension bridge, and was the second longest at time of completion. The bridge was named after two of the islands at its ends, namely Tsing Yi and Ma Wan. Tsing Ma Bridge is the most prominent element of the Lantau Link, an infrastructure project built to connect Lantau, Hong Kongs largest island, to the urbanised areas of the territory. Until this link opened in 1998, Lantau Island could only be accessed by water, and was completely rural. It has two decks and carries both road and rail traffic, which also makes it the largest suspension bridge of this type. The bridges is the longest of all bridges in the world carrying rail traffic and 41-metre-wide (135 ftbridge deck carries six lanes of automobile traffic, with three lanes in each direction. The lower level contains two rail tracks and two sheltered carriageways used for maintenance access and traffic lanes when particularly severe typhoons strike Hong Kong and the bridge deck is closed to traffic. The Lantau Link was built as part of the Airport Core Programme, which ultimately served to provide Hong Kong with a brand new airport at Chek Lap Kok (off the north coast of Lantauto replace the older, congested Kai Tak Airport. The magnificent bridge stands majestic any time of the day or night.
Airport to New Territories, a breathtaking view at Tsing Ma Bridge. I wish I could stop here to have a spectacular view from the bridge.

Hyundai made the lowest bid but were disqualified for non-compliance with the financial requirements. A Japanese bid was ruled out for being too expensive. An Anglo-Japanese joint venture, comprising Costain, Mitsui, and Trafalgar House, won the job. Construction work on the bridge began in June 1992. Gammon Construction constructed the caissons for the bridge towers. The framework for each caisson was floated into place and sunk, and then filled with concrete underwater. The two caissons on the Ma Wan side weigh 4,500 tons each, while those on the Tsing Yi side (closer to shoreeach weigh about 3,000 tons. Land reclamation was carried out at both ends of the bridge. The more substantial reclamation on Ma Wan was used as a work platform for construction crews. The first steel deck segment was lifted into place in late 1994.[6] The approach deck segments were constructed in Britain and Dubai and then shipped to Hong Kong for assembling. The main span segments were built by Cleveland in the U.K. and by Mitsui in Japan. The climbing cranes used to erect the tower portals were coincidentally also used on the HSBC Main Building a decade earlier, as well as at Canary Wharf in the interim.
The bridge was named after two of the islands at its ends, namely Tsing Yi and Ma Wan. The Tsing Ma Bridge was designed to carry two three-lane carriageways on the upper deck and two railway tracks on the lower deck. There are also two sheltered single-lane carriageways on the lower deck for maintenance access and as backup for traffic during typhoons when wind speed is still within acceptable limits. It is the worlds 11th-longest span suspension bridge, and was the second longest at time of completion.
I take a windows seat on bus trough the bridge was very exciting
Long suspension bridge. Great sea view around it.
A great sunset view I can see there in the evening.
A very beautiful scenery along the way to hk airport!!! Cant imagine how great it will be on sunset!
One the largest, longest suspension bridges of the world. What else to say? Feast for eyes. In my part of the world - Eastern Europe - we dont have such impressive constructions.
A wonder of engineering. Purpose built to service the new Hong Kong airport. Crossing affords an awesome view of the lovely rugged Hong Kong coast.
One of the most important bridge in Hong Kong, connecting Lantau Island and Mainland of HK, view is spectacular, only way to walk/cycle on it is Standard Chartered Marathon and Cycling event annually.
