Truso Gorge in Tskhinvali

Beautiful Valley. It feels like a different world in there. Definetly check it out when staying in Kazbegi. If you dont have your own car just ask a randomn taxi driver to drop you off here and negioate a return trip aswell. It should cost you around 100-140 GEL and he will wait for you or return on a negioated time.

Amazing hike! 22km return, we finished it in 5.45h. No aggressive dogs on our way, just nice views! The trails are easy, you could even do it on sneakers. Best hike in Georgia for us.

A very pleasant place to hike. The landscapes are beautiful. It is better if you have a 4x4 because the road to go there is rough and not adapted to simple cars.

It is like Yellowstone in US, the difference is you can walk on the colorful mineral cascades, touch it and taste the carbonated water. We bought bus ticket 45 lari round trip, leave at 9:15am ,back at 4:30pm. You will see some colorful mineral cascades features before the bridge to Abano lake.Don’t cross the bridge , keep walking 30 min, off track along the cliff rim, you will find 2 water pipes pumping water and creating the wonderful colorful landscape. Return,you can cross the bridge at Truso camp & cafe to Abano lake.

One of the most rewarding day hikes I had in my life.You need a taxi to get and come back (tell the driver to pick you upbut the trek (22kmis so beautiful and has a lot of variety. Try to walk a bit different way on the way there than on the way back - and try to visit the mineral water spring. Its magical.

Amazing hidden gem of Georgia! You can find there beautiful minerals lake, old castle, big minerals spring with similar to Mars landscapes - and great views all around!

Beautiful place. Definitely worth a visit.Dont go up the hill as Google Maps tells you! The road is terrible and after 30 min we had to go back beacuse the car was getting stuck.

View is great but not worth the ride there unless you have some powerful ride. There is no decent road so expect to drive extremely slowly.

Grab your trekking gear and maybe swim clothes if you want to cool down in the mineral lake on the way. Beautiful beautiful place

Beutiful, long valley. Amazing views on both sides. You have to stop by tiny lake with mineral water.

There is a small lake with bubbly water full of minerals that cause the stones there to be red colored which is a beautiful phenomenon. The views are amazing there though it is quite a bumpy ride of about 30m and you must have a jeep to get there.

Great day trip from Kazbegi. Need a proper 4x4 off road vehicle beyond this point if planning to go there by car as the path is just one lane track on gravel/dust/mud. Clearly marked walking trail. Do not follow Google Maps - Use Maps.me (Visited May’21)

Breathtaking walk through the valley! And a few pictural villages are on the way. If youre staying around Stepantsminda you should definitely try to visit the Truso Valley.

The Truso Valley walk, flat and easy. AMAZING changing mineral landscapes with snowy capped mountains make a superb backdrop. Take a full-day walking to the fortress and back.

Beautiful gorge and nice hiking place. From the parking place to the end is about 11km, and there is not much height difference.

A nice walk through the sulfur laden streams, mostly on a plain. Recommended for a few hours (we took 6 hours to get to the fortress and back).

Not worth it, unless you have a 4x4 vehicle and want to use it to drive on some rocky roads. There’s absolutely nothing to see or do here other than Terek river. But if you got here, I’d suggest continuing further down the road to the fortress or taking a hiking route above in the mountains.

We walked from the Truso Gorge indicated in Maps to the lake. 3h in total and with amazing views. There is a little bar at the top where people can buy water or beer.

The first third of the way to the fortress is through the gorge. It’s not great. Dusty road with cars passing every other minute. It will be well worth it: the last third of the way until the fortress, in particular, is beautiful! Barely any cars and few people when we hiked here - highly recommend.

Expect a longer walk (6h long both wayssurrounded by green fields and mountains in the background. Few locals selling khachapuri, chacha and wine (good ones), two monasterys, Zakagori fortress ruins and a border with South Ossetia (you cant cross).

For sure the place is very beautifull but unfortunately the way to valley is closed by militarny.

Beautifull place, near the village "kobi" . Comfortable, flat and not difficult route. Approximately 5-6 hours. You can arrive by shuttle from the information companies in Kazbegi that cost 25-30 gel per person, leaves at 0900 and leaves truso at 1600 (recommended to book at least 24 hours beforeor take a taxi that charges 80 gel round trip.Highly recommend, enjoy!

Rich with mineral waters and nature monuments,cultural heritage-fortresses and churches,surrounded by high mountains and inhabited temporary by shephards.Unpaved road starts from village Kobi,Kazbegi mun.

Very beautiful gorge. Dont trust Google maps though, it will ask you to take a probably very scenic but rough road over a mountain ridge. Stay in the valley instead, even though Google says there are no roads... The road is passable with a normal car if you take care. Worst part is actually from the big road to the village.

A decent walk with decent scenery, but dont expect too much.

Want to see the most bautiful sight of truso valley while there? Then you should really take this path as it overlooks the whole valley and creates amazing scenery there. If youre not afraid of a little ups and downs on your way, then turn right near Qvemo Okrokana village and follow the route.

Beautiful valley with many springs of different colors... You can drive to the border patrol if rivers are low. Be careful, dont use google navigation as there is a road going through the gorge while google maps will take you over an unpassable hill (as the road is not used anymore)

Beautiful hike! In good weather you can drive up to Zakagori (12km air distance from the main roadwith a high 4x4 car. There is a military checkpoint and cars are not allowed further.In any weather I would advise to drive in as far as you safely can and walk from there.
