Trsat Fortress in Rijeka

Quaint castle tucked in the end of the city looking down the valley to the sea. Not too big but there is also a nice hillside park by the church a few minutes away so a nice stop while travelling. I happened to go during a medieval festival so that added to the enjoyment

The highlight of this town with an awesome view! for the best shots!...There is a Cafe-Bar which offers sitting facilities in or out after enjoying the visiting of the castle...friendly staff, good list of drinks...The indoor area probides an awesome view to the patio.

I have never experienced a cafe with fun vibes at a castle! Despite the castle had most of its interiors closed for public, we have enjoyed the cafe and the busy Rijeka view! One can go up around 500steps to reach the castle or get a bus! We are glad that we walked up as there were plenty of old houses to appreciate.

Free! Well worth the stairs up, incredible views of the city, and an interesting piece of history.

Very nice and beautiful castle and Croatian architecture. Also over 500 steps leading to the castle are quite hard to reach to be honest, but that sightsee from Trsats towers are phenomenal. I can fully recommend your visit! At the top there is a restaurant with many kind of drinks that might also be a reward.

Castle is small full of people, some doors are even locked, but its free and has nice views on the city and sea.

Amazing place, free entry and beautiful viewpoint. If you walk from the city center, bring a bottle of water as you need to go up 538 steps to arrive in the castle😅 but it is worth.

Its not only Castle, its the BEST spot of Rijeka. Amazing view the sea and city. You can have coffee, wine, beers and even event there...entire caslte is flat and very comfy

Awesome place ,can get a better view of the city of Rjeka... Worth going to the place when the sky is clear!There is a small restaurant there inside the castle with affordable prices. There was no entry ticket for this castle.

The view is great and the bar looks really cozy but the music they played was way too loud. It is definitely worth of coming here for the view. You can park your car along the street almost on the top. And there are also public toilets for free , clean!

Amazing view of the city from the top of the tower. The castle is well maintenied at least for all walls and towers that belong to it. Inside there is a nice bar. It deserves a visit if you have at least 15/20 minutes to visit Rijeka. Its full of free car parkings in the area around the castle.

Amazing view from the top, there is no ticket for the castle and the bar restaurant is a little bit expensive but they have very nice cocktails and tasty snacks

Worth to see , if you have good legs walk the the stairs from Rijeka Centar

Fantastic view. If you only have an hour to visit Rijeka, this is the place to go! Entrance is free and its pet friendly.

Its free to visit. You can approach the castle by bus but its worth taking the stairs. Theres a bar inside the castle which makes it a very unique experience - listening to modern music in a historical place.

We visited during a festival, so not all the part where opened, but we managed to visit more or less everything. I enjoyed a lot of the view and the calm atmosphere

Totally worth the trip. If youre driving there you should know that theres no dedicated parking lot but you can park by the road on the way up. The views from the castle are breath taking and they have a lovely cafe in the castle and several before the castle. During the week its not crowded but there place is not big so it probably gets crowded on the weekends.

Climb every castle mountain and this one certainly comes with a climb. Once up there one is greeted by a well maintained fortress, free to enter (as of June 2022and a spectacular view over Rijeka.What gives this place life however is its bar – a selection of great cocktails, perfect for gazing out into the distance, accompanied by Disco hits from yesteryear on the tannoy.Also, look up the story of the basilisk and octopus on Wikipedia once up there, its worth it.

Fantastic views down on Rijeka from up here. Place is free to visit, yet not much to see, only a view information posts. There is a bar with music.

A beautiful little castle with a fantastic overlook and a great place to have drink while watching the sunset. Recommend!

Beautiful views of the city from Trsat Castle. Lots of parking (freeon the route up to the castle, a short few minutes walk away. There is a cafe with views overlooking the port, and the cold cream coffee drink was especially enjoyable (strong, sweet and creamy). Dont forget to stop by the interpretation centre for a pet with the friendly stray cat!

A very nice little Castle. The view over Rijeka is fantastic, the castle is very clean and they have a nice Bar with view over Rijeka. The Bus number 2 is just 3 Minutes away from the entrance. Recommend!

It is a place in Rijeka that represents historical heritage combined with modern world.You can get to the top in several ways, choosing multiple stairs or a serpentine rout through the park and quiet city streets.The entrance is free of charge. From the top you will definatly take some amazing pic of the city from different views.After quite an active walk to the top you can relax and enjoy a cocktail in the cafe on the castle territory!This place is definatly must be in the list to visit

Beautiful walk up to a stunning place with views over the entire city. The walk to the top will make you feel dead and alive at the same time! Loved the bar within the ancient ruins of the castle. Drinks are cheap and service friendly but slow given they are so popular. The surrounding town is quaint and cute with views over the whole of rijeka, really stunning place to catch some sun, culture and a drink!

Its worth coming! There is a steep way up the hill with plenty of stairs but the view from the castle is incredible. There is a bar with friendly staff too :The entry to the castle is free and offers you incredible views of the city and the sea.

it’s a bit of a hike to get here, but it’s absolutely worth it! the castle is beautiful and has great views and opportunities for beautiful photos. (it’s also free, which is always nicevery cool historical sight. i reallyrecommend the restaurant that’s in the castle.

This was my top place to visit in Rijeka. It did not disappoint. The weather was absolutely, blue skies! So interesting to see this beautifully kept, Medieval Castle. The information lady was very helpful. Afterward, we enjoyed a nice cappuccino while looking at the beautiful view of the city, and Adriatic Sea below us.

So much good view from there...it was clean, colorful and very polite the people there...

(Christmas edition review)Its an amazing fort, well preserved and with amazing views of the city. During the Christmas season you can walk around the whole castle for free, there are multiple Christmas stands and lots of well arranged lights and other decorations (chech the photos ;))Overall a must see in any part of the year.

Great views. Amazing how the build it. Great history lesson. We hiked up the stairs takes about 40 mins but there is a bud from the town and it drops you close.

The castle itself isnt the prettiest, but the views are incredible overlooking the bay and islands. There is some free parking about 200 meters away and a mostly flat walk to the castle. Its apparently free entrance with a cafe inside that serves some food and drinks. Highly recommend to visit when in Rijeka.

It’s 538 steps to the top but it’s worth the effort. The view from up there is absolutely amazing! You can overlook Rijeka and the Adria. There is a couple of restaurants up there! The way down is just as good and only half as hard! Give it a go! 🙏🏻

This place has a great view but could use a little bit of restoration. All the unused bar chairs are everywhere in the castle. Nothing against the bar itself but they could atleast had it in the theme of the castle. In short it just looks weird and all over the place except for the view from the top which is great.

Great views nice locals bars.we have great time drinking coffee watching beautiful scenery hopefully coming back here sometime in the future.

Such a beautiful historical landmark. I highly recommend to spend 2-3 hours to visit the fortress. Spectacular top views.

Its quite tiring to walk up there with all the stairs, and a working well/tap would be great at the and of your road, but the view definitely worth every step you have to make.We came down following our instincts, not maps with the same road. You should try it, it is great too.

It was a lovely experience being there in the summer. Beautiful spots for aesthetic photos. Free entry, but there were places you pay to eat. Overall a lovely experience.

Such a fascinating historical site. Although its a bit of a hike to reach by foot, the views from the fortress tower are breathtaking - you can see the entire city and across the sea. Theres also a small cafe serving hot drinks to enjoy with the lovely view.
