Tropical Smoothie Cafe in Petersburg

I went up to the door at about 8:40pm and it was locked with the doors closed. The employees that were inside were sitting at the table behind the locked door... I thought you guys closed at 9?

Came into the cafe to pick up an online order. There is no one here, the lights are off, the open sign is off, door is locked, and there is no sign on the door. The phone number for the cafe is disconnected. There is no way to contact the cafe nor the corporate office for refund by phone. Highly recommend only ordering in person, if at all.

First time going to a smoothie shop that didn’t have smoothies or food. They should’ve just closed for the day.

Bought 4 smoothies the cashier young girl has so much attitude no customer service will never come back here

It was a horrible experience. There were 3 crew members, none of whom seemed to be managers and none seemed to be working together to fulfill orders. One guy, who said he only worked there for 2 weeks, spent time wiping tables (no customers were eating in the dining areaand a few of us were standing outside waiting for our orders because it was so cold inside (but I under keeping the temp low, so no biggie there). The online order receipts were hanging from the front register. The 2 crew members in the back took a break and the new guy chose to fill orders for the people who arrived last. At one point he called the owner/ manager, "James", who I guess told him to start filling orders and that he would call the other 2 workers. After 30 minutes of waiting for 2 smoothies Id ordered online, I asked for a refund so I could leave with my young child. NO ONE KNEW HOW TO OPEN THE REGISTER TO REFUND ME! Almost an hour after placing my order, I get the two smoothies made by the new guy and I bet you can guess how they tasted: all ice, no flavor! I am so disappointed. Where is the leadership (owner/ managerof this store working with a young/ new crew? I hope experiences like this are rare because the service and product left much to be desired!

Went to this place at 6:15 and was told they can’t take my order because they need a break. Dude straight up looked at me and just kicked me out. NO LIE. Don’t ever come here. Put this location out of business

Update to my previous review. They now do not offer soft drinks and they do not offer water! No water?!?!? I dont know if this is true at other locations or only this one. We had to wait 30 minutes for our food and then had to try to wash it down with an overly sugary smoothie.

I went to this location at 6 oclock PM and the staff told me that theyre not making food. I wonder if the owner knows that a staff is lazy.

The store is not clean it have a bad service and the employees have a very bad attitude Won’t even help you choose the meal you want or Recommend something else for you

I was one of 9 people waiting for my food. The staff was rude, & everything was extremely unorganized from the ordering process to getting your food. The staff could definitely use some training.

I enjoy Tropical Smoothy for a treat. My husband has never had one so when I suggested it, he finally said sure. So we walk in, the place is empty. Not a soul in there today at 2pm. I was trying to make a decision and the young lady behind the counter asked of I was picking up an online order. I said no, wed only like 2 smoothies. She proceeded to tell me they are over worked, under staffed and someone had an "mental breakdown" today so NO walk in orders. Asked, if I sit in the Cafe and order online can you make it for me? In the meantime someone else walked in and she was going through the whole online orders only story so we left. We went to cook out and got a milkshake- Delightful. Anyway, point is, if your going there pre-order which makes no sense because it would be melted. 0 stars.

BEWARE! This is literally the WORST tropical smoothie and fast food establishment that I’ve ever been to in my life. I wish I could give it 0 stars. I ordered my family’s meals from our car on the interstate because we were traveling. My order was supposed to be ready at 3:42 and was not ready until 4:15pm. On top of that, 2 different staff members decided that they were out of strawberries after multiple people had already paid for their order… when another patron asked for the manager, suddenly, they found the strawberries! I still didn’t receive strawberries in the smoothies I ordered.I asked one girl where my smoothies were and she said they were being poured into the cups and would be right out. She told me this 3-4 times in a period of 20 minutes. She was lying and basically pacing around while no smoothies were being made. I literally had to start yelling to get my freaking smoothies so I could leave. There were 6+ people working and barely anyone in the store.The guy making the food messed up our order bc he gave my son a chicken and cheese quesadilla and we just ordered a cheese quesadilla. My other son order the banana crunch with no crunch. He included the crunch and didn’t even cut the banana up. My sandwich had a full chicken breast, not cut up in it.When I asked for a refund bc I had to wait 45 minutes for my order after having placed it an hour before, the manager stated that she couldn’t refund an online order. She was actually nice and went and made the smoothies when I asked for them while the other worthless workers sat around.If this were my establishment, I would have fired 3 people right there on the spot. They were lazy and standing around. Don’t go here. You will regret it, I promise.

Terrible customer service. Filthy inside. Most items are out of stock, and even a basic smoothie will take your 20 minutes, at least.

This shop used to be great, but ever since the great pandemic re-staffing this store hasn’t been up to snuff.Today I went in with my son to get lunch for the family. The environment honestly felt pretty depressing. The cashier was sitting down in the dining room looking at their phone, who did get up promptly and man the register when we walked in. However we were offered no greeting or any contact when we approached the register. Once we finished ordering, the cashier promptly left the register to go back and sit down to look at their phone. That isn’t really the kind of behavior you want to put on display to customers. The manager came out and offered my son a free edible straw which earned them one star. Completely ignored his cashier in their phone, indicating he approved of the behavior. And unfortunately the food was almost as bad as the service.We ordered two wraps and a quesadilla. One wrap had bad spinach in it, almost made my wife vomit from the first bite. The second wrap... the sauce must have soured because it tasted nothing like it normally did except for the spice. Couldn’t swallow the first bite of that one either. Finally the quesadilla that I specifically ordered with NO chicken, came with chicken in it. Cue child freak out and lunch protest. The smoothies were also not nearly as flavorful as they used to be.I am a huge fan of Tropical Smoothie, however I will definitely not be returning to this specific store. This is the last mess-up in a string of recent failures.

As soon as I walked in I was smacked in the face with a disgusting smell. Cashier acted less then happy to be there. Woman’s restroom light was broken and not working at all. When notified staff they acted as if they could careless and just shrugged. Not to mention I was the only one there and they took forever with the one breakfast wrap I ordered. 😒 never again.

First time eating here. Ordered my food online and it still wasnt ready when I arrived. On top of that, they gave me a thrown together salad without dressing and a fork. Not my typical experience at Tropical Smoothie...I mustve gone to the wrong one.

I love Tropical Smoothie, but this location is terrible. Smoothies and food are never made correctly. The entire staff has no customer service skills. All of the cashiers seem to always have an attitude.

If I could give this a zero I would. This place had a terrible night crew. They constantly have an attitude. They try to say they can’t make food because they have to clean the kitten when they are open for 3 more hours.. it makes no sense. So told I did an online order and my smoothie tasted like water… Please don’t waste your time with coming here if it’s after 5pm because you gonna be wasting your time and MONEY!

The teenagers had a stuck up attitude when I politely asked for my order. One rolled their eyes like I was the problem. Have better service than that.

The lady who served me had a blah attitude. I also couldn’t tell I could pay with cash or card because of the signs they had up. One said card only and the other said cannot take bills over $20.

Terrible service, online ordering is always disabled, they never have what is ordered/needed. I understand shortages for things right now, but they were going to let me leave the store without telling me they didnt have what I ordered, AFTER I paid for it online. Then had an attitude when I asked for a reasonable substitution. Just shut this location down because its really a nuisance to the brand at this point.

Why would you sell and make smoothies if you dont have all the ingredients??

Very delicious but $7 for a smoothie is a rip off! I will blend my own smoothies now. You have lost a customer.

Last few times Ive went they cant seem to get the order right because they dont even know what they are doing. Didnt even know the types of bread they sell. They were rude and very unprofessional. Wont be going back.

My smoothie was watery. I don’t know if they gave me an old smoothie that was in the fridge or something, but the smoothie was way too watery.

Made the order on the app, got the smoothie on time sat down and waited for the sandwich 15mnts after I ask about the sandwich, They told me can’t make your chicken caprese with shrimp, because is cross contamination.Is not if you clean the same equipment that you cook the chicken and then cook the shrimp, the grill or the pan.Come on I’m Serve Safe certified I know the rule, if the reason is short staff? Where is the manager to make things run in a timely manner and please the customer?

Tropical Smoothie in Colonial Heights is terrible I have NEVER had a watered down smoothie, when I tried to call back and complain the number was not in service, I want my money back, horrible service and an even worse smoothie

I ordered 2 strawberry pineapple smoothies. They tasted more like strawberry banana. Besides the overwhelming banana taste it was watered down and not very flavorful. McDonald’s has better taste😩

For the past 3 months is has been nothing hit a struggle with this location in Colonial Heights. The oven was broke for whoebknows how long, every time I came in I had to wait close to 40min for a smoothie. Now today their over is finally back but they don’t have the ingredients for a wrap. Customer service has always been low as well.

Every single time I come into the store , every employee has a terrible attitude. Wouldn’t recommend coming here . Every time I receive my smoothie it taste like water down ice and when I let them know they look at my crazy and talk in the kitchen about the customers saying she’s either going to take the smoothie or leave! They take forever to make the smoothie when the restaurant is empty and not to mention they are always out of something or something is down & to put the icing on the top I couldn’t even use to the restroom after my water down smoothie because the restroom was out of order! I would not recommend anybody even if this was your only option. I would rather pick McDonald’s over this tropical smoothie!

While waiting for my food I observed an employee combing her hair, or weave in the kitchen area. Ended up being the smoothie maker!!!! The service is truly the worst in any restaurant I have been to. The management appears to be absent. Other times I go and they are out of greens! I go for healthy food that is fast. But it is always a disappointment, not going back!

Customer service was so great. I came in 10 mins to closing, so sorry, i didn’t realize the time. I didn’t catch their names, but it was 2 people closing tonight (Wednesday& they were so nice. I got a beach bum smoothie w pea protein, & they made it literally perfect. If anyone deserves a promotion, it’s them!!

Idk if they changed recipes for smoothies but the last two times I had them make it again because the smoothies taste like water slushees with no flavor. The worse part is that they look at you crazy for saying that...as if anyone wants to pay $14 for two water smoothies. I do not recommend.

DASHERS AND PEOPLE LOOKING FOR LUNCH IDEAS, PLEASE READ BEFORE GOING HEREI did a review for the one in Chester and I have to take back what I said about this location. It is not as good as it was when I went last Fall. Its apparent between the two locations the management and ownership does not care and this review is going to get the same copy and paste from them. The employees do not care and just let the orders pile. They couldnt tell which orders went to who. The sound system is broken and couldnt play the radio songs without skipping parts of the song. It is a unorganized, chaotic mess in there. Clearly, the management doesnt want to own up to their incompetence and correct the problems going with this food chain. I feel sorry for the 3 employees that were there today because they had absolutely given up and I dont blame them. Theyre short handed and there were so many orders coming in. Until management and the ownership want to go in themselves and try to fix this hot mess, STAY AWAY FROM THIS LOCATION!

Colonial heights, Virginia location is by far the worst establishment, they make the entire franchise look bad! They are always beyond slow. Today I ordered ONE SMOOTHIE, everybody before and after me got their meals and left .. i waited 20 minutes to til I asked was smoothie coming or not and the cash register goes oh I forgot to put your order in !! Then took another 5 minutes to make it! Never again ZERO STARS, for them all and shut it down

Customer service is trash. Receipts flood the counter looking like they havent been touched all day, only 4 people in there and instead of touching anything all three stood and talked and danced like the whole place wasnt filled with people angrily waiting. The sign on the door said smoothies could take up to 30 min, but not the website or app, so after waiting over 30 min in the store after ordering online and waiting 15 min, they didnt even have our name on the screen for our smoothies to even be made. After asking for a refund, because we had somewhere to be, the manager didnt even know if she could give us a refund. After that every one of them starts complaining that theres only 4 of them and what they wanted us to do. If they were at least saying something to the customers instead of just waking up and giving them a confused look like they arent at a restaurant and not picking their nails while listening to an order not even looking at the screen putting it in, then maybe Id feel just a tad bit bad about being understaffed. This was ridiculous.

The smoothie wasnt even a smoothie. It was a slushie. No smoothness. Watered down taste. Ton of ice. I will attach photos if I can but I will never spend my money here again. Over priced and not even made right. Cant believe this place is a chain. Will never get my business again. Complete trash

Dirtiest place I ever went in. Garbage and trash on Dining floor. Tables were disgusting, cant even speak of the Bathrooms. Employee rear end hanging out, he needed a belt I guess. Food was horrible. Will never eat here again. I hope someone in management reads this, as I am sure we arent the only ones.

Very disappointed in the customer service and employees that were there today at 11:50am. My daughter and I came to grab a quick lunch and to our surprise when we walked in the 3 unmasked employees that were relaxing at the tables all got up and ignored us. One walked into the bathroom and the other two employees walked back into the kitchen. We stood at the counter for about 5 mins without anyone coming to take our order. We could hear staff in the back having casual conversation about their weekend plans. We left because clearly their job wasn’t to serve their guests today. We won’t be returning.

Absolutely terrible experience. I understand everywhere is short staffed right now, so I was really trying to be patient. I placed a pickup order. My food was ready when I got there, but not my smoothie. They told me they were still working on it. I waited some more. I saw numerous pickup and in-store orders come and go with their orders, all who arrived AFTER me. I checked again on my pick up order and was told it was still being made. After waiting for 30 minutes, I finally left with no smoothie and cold food. My lunch break was over at this point. I didnt even have the time or the patience to wait for a refund. The quality of my food was terrible as well. My entire flatbread had one sad strip of bacon, 6 pieces of chicken and NO CHIPOTLE MAYO! Dont even bother with this location.

Rude customer service and smoothies taste like ice. Lamel, who lied about being the manager refused to speak with me after incorrectly making a smoothie I purchased. He also refused to give me a refund and remake it. Very unsatisfied and will not be returning back to this Tropical Smoothie.

Got my usual order of the hummus wrap. It was half the size it used to be and there was like zero hummus on one side. In fact it had virtually no filling whatsoever except for some semi wilted lettuce and a few grains of rice and a couple of beans. I get that prices have gone up but I should not be expected to pay more for way less. Very disappointed in my order.Follow up: I sent an email to corporate as advised & no one has gotten back to me. Just as I figured would be the case. Think I’ll skip going to Tropical Smoothie from here on out.

No idea why they advertise on Door dash since their "order volume" is always too high. They need to be removed from the app if they cant fill the orders. I have tried to order from this store over 10 times, each time Im told the same thing.This includes all times of the day. 2:00pm on a Sunday, order volume too high, 3:00pm on a Tuesday, order volume too high, 10:45 on a Thursday, order volume too high... Im done with Tropical Smoothie.

Yesterday DoorDash said they were not taking online orders, and they would not answer the phone. Today I called before hand to see if they were taking online orders and they said yes. I placed my order then it was canceled bc the store was excepting online orders. Now I have to wait a week to get my $30 refund back for my order. SMH. Other people are saying they have the same issues or when they can place an order they are waiting an hour for a smoothie. Just shut the store down instead of causing all these issues for other people

I’d give 0 if I could they’re barley open and when they are the employees look like they hate their lives really bad attitudes!! I ordered two smoothies and a flat bread they kept telling me they were making my food 20 mins pass then they said they didn’t have a ticket and I didnt pay for it …. I literally had the receipt in my hand that says I paid for it so after much arguing back and forth they made my food got back to work and it was wrong 😑 but as I was waiting the girl making the smoothies she had no gloves on and messing with her nose the whole time 🤢 the cashier was on FaceTime and some employees clocked in and then just stood there….. I don’t know what going on but DO BETTER!! I don’t know if I’ll ever go back honestly

I dont recommend this Tropical smoothie, I usually go to the Richmond area Tropical smoothies and dont have any problems. This location closes when it shouldnt, never answers their phone and doesnt honor Tropical smoothie coupons. You better off making the drive to another location.

I usually like to visit a place several times before even writing a review because they may have had an off day, short staff, or me feeling picky. It’s a shame I can’t say anything good other than the employees were nice. And I don’t plan on coming back even though it’s the only one in the area. Also, my review is based off other TS I’ve visited and really liked; I have to say this one is the worst.ALWAYS long wait for food. I could not order online or through the app because they were “closed” (Tuesday 3pm I had to go inside and order).If you want to know how much ingredients is in your smoothie OTHER THAN ice & liquid .. order NO sugar. I thought it was the smoothie I ordered, but EVERY smoothie I’ve received from here taste like water. The food is OK. Overall they need consistency and more care when serving food. Get it together Tropical Smoothie at Southgate!

I never heard they can’t serve food due to being under staffed but they have 4 people working. Seems they are worried about cleaning up and closing for before 8. Kinda goes with being closed at 7:15 last week too. They sure are able to make smoothies, Mind blowing!! Seems they need to have a manger on site to control this store better.

I got the Triple Berry power smoothie. It was delicious. They have sandwiches and wraps on their menu as well. Clean establishment. Friendly employees
