Woodland and meadows with 140 monkeys living in freedom, with forest path, info boards and videos.
A shining example of what a zoo can be. The animals all seem to be living in their natural way in a massive enclosure that gives them plenty of space. They do feedings every hour so you are guaranteed to see the monkeys up really close. A must see for any animal lovers, especially those who dislike conventional zoos.
A nice little walk out. The monkeys are beautiful and its exciting seeing them up close. The walk isnt very long and with taking it slow, we had finished within an hour. You are able to walk around as many times as you like.
Absolutely beautiful Forest would recommend the staff were amazing a lovely and informative. Only thing is its really small and can take you 20 minutes to walk still had a fantastic time though
Great place for everyone, we loved seeing all the monkeys of all ages!My children loved watching the monkeys being fed which happens every hour and they give a very informative talk during this time. This is not an all day activity, but they have catered for this by giving you all day access so you can come and go as many times as you please within their opening hours. The wooden play ground was a big hit with my children and the parents πI would 100% reccomened a trip. The money they raise goes towards helping monkeys in the wild so worth every penny.Booking in advance is not necessary but if you do you save around Β£2 per person.
First visit back here in probably over 5 years. Its a lovely place to stroll around and see the Barbary macaques close up. They just go about their business and seem happy and relaxed with a huge area to roam. The trail itself is less than a mile but it is easy to spend an hour or more watching them play, eat and do their thing. There are two feeding areas and feeding takes place at one or the other every hour by the knowledgeable guides who give an overview and also are happy to answer questions.Well worth a visit.
Had a lovely time,, so nice to see the monkeys roaming freely. Well worth the money, we went as a family and all enjoyed it seen loads of monkeys to including th babies. Well worth a visit.
Will you see monkeys? Yes. However there are only certain areas where the monkeys congregate. You find that you are waiting for the feeding times when the monkeys are called by the handlers. The feeding times are throughout the day at different times, so I guess the other monkeys may not have been very hungry when called because out of 140 monkeys there were approx. 7-8 that came to the call. At various other areas there were also monkeys. They do walk across the paths however I only saw this happening when the call went out at feeding time. The overall walk through the monkey forest area probably takes 1.5 - 2 hours max. There are two kids play areas, 1 for older children and the other for younger kids. The on site restaurant is quiet expensive, therefore I would suggest that you take food and drink with you. Attached is a picture of the menu and prices. I think it is the place that you only visit once. I dont think I will be visiting again soon. Overall though it does keep kids busy for the day. Lastly parking is free which is good. If you have a picnic you can take you bag with you and before you enter the monkey enclosure you leave the bag with the attendants and they will give you a ticket. Alternatively you can leave your food/drink in the car and get your hand stamped at the entrance to allow you re-entry.
Very disappointed, around 40 ish monkeys. They were all in one area, so basically walking around looking at trees. Did the walk in around 45 minutes not much else as a couple of adults. For the price would have gotten more value going to a zoo.
This is one of the best days out I have had with my granchildren for ages. (Allow about 4 hours for a visit )Prices are very good value. The facilities there, especially for outdoor eating, is excellent. The place is clean and well run. Coffee is cheap but nice. The staff were very friendly and obviously enjoy their work. There was always someone on hand to give information etc. They were very enthusiastic. There are no rides or anything like that (except a small adventure playground)to take away from the purpose of the Monkey Forest. Its so nice to see animals in the wild, living as they would do if they were completely free. The grounds are a lovely walk and a beautiful one even if there were no monkeys but you dont have to walk far before you see lots of them. They pretty much ignore you and just get on with their daily lives - which is great. My grandchildren loved it.(especially the babies)My wife is in a wheelchair. All paths were fine even though there are places were it is advised not to use a wheelchair. The small adventure park was plenty for the childre after the picnic. They definitely want to return. All in all a thoroughly enjoyable experience and your money helps to protect animals.
Currently sat in the banana cafe at the Monkey forest while the kids burn off some energy on the small play area.Today has been amazing, the monkey trail was well worth every penny. Helpers are jotted around the trail who give advice and fun facts. Apparently there is 140 monkeys around the trail and theyre certainly not shy .There is plenty to do for the kids, excluding a picnic area and a separate trail away from the monkey section.Cafe prices arent too bad. Cheesey chips x 2, 1xWrap, 1x latte, 1x milkshake and a bottle of 7up cost Β£21.80
Me and my partner had a really nice and interesting Saturday afternoon here. We both thought the Β£11 each entry fee was rather worth it considering how pleasant the walk route around the Monkeys π enclosure was, also the many facts and answers dotted around was a nice touch to the place... We especially enjoyed the Feed-Time-Talk part, where one of the employees gave an interesting speech about all the Monkeys habits, lifestyles, routines, facts on them and so forth.
Very friendly staff and the monkeys are amazing to watch. Good value for money too. You are able to leave the attraction (once being stampedand come back again same day. However parking does get very busy... be prepared
Staff really friendly and enthusiastic,Regular talks, and feeding sessions, lots to see, and two play adventure areas, for smaller, and bigger children.Plenty of picnic areas, cafe and souvenir shop for an ice cream ,drink, and kids toys. Good day out. Reasonable prices too. Book online in advance and save money on all ticket prices.
Visited the monkey forest the other week and booked the tickets online as the offer a slight discount online. My 2.5 year old daughter loved it however I did feel as though there wasnt as many monkeys as there used to be? Maybe they were seeking the shade because it was a sunny day? But I did feel as though it wasnt the same as previous years. After we had walked around the forest area, we went back to where the playground was and my daughter loved playing on the things they had there.Food wise - my sister ordered some chips from the cafe and they were actually really yummy chips! Price wise, like with any place you go to its always a bit more expensive than usual but if youre hungry, youve got to eat, at least the food was nice! All round it was a nice day out but I wouldnt hurry back
A brilliant day out for the family. The monkeys appear healthy and well looked after in a stimulating environment. Unlike a zoo, the animals have plenty of space yet visitors get a chance to see them up close. The staff are not only very knowledgeable but also super friendly and great at interacting with kids. I was also delighted to see that there is a zero tolerance approach to any unruly visitor behaviour which may threaten the monkeys. Admission fees also contribute towards conservation projects in the wild
Me and my boyfriend went for the VIP experience. We had a tour guide of the monkey with Daisy and Dan we got to help feeding the monkeys breakfast, facts about each group and got up close with the monkeys. Definitely worth the money! Daisy and Dan were amazing and really care about the monkeys π took lots of photos
What a really lovely place to visit. Friendly staff all round. Educational as well as fun. A place for all ages and Entry is really reasonably priced and cheaper if booked online in advance.
Really nice and welcoming staff. Its ok for a day out in the park kind of day but its wasnt really worth driving an hour from Derby for. It was a long walk around 3/4 of a mile with the odd monkey here anh there, actually all the monkeys were situated near the entrance and rest of the walk was just woodland area and thats really. Area is a nice picnic area with a couple of play areas for the kids and a very small souvenir shop and cafΓ©
Fantastic, well worth a visit. Lovely to see animals in an unrestricted home, very informative staff, especially the lady who has worked there 17 years. We arrived first thing on Saturday morning and got ahead of the crowds. This made it especially great as all the monkeys were making their way for breakfast. We sat on the fence silently and they all came past us within meters. A very special moment and a very special place.
Great day out for all the family. It does has limited wheelchair access in the monkey forest part. Lovely environment and set up. Would advise taking a picnic as the cafe has limited choice and is expensive. Lots of nice areas to take a picnic and sit nicely. Play areas for all ages split over two different parks.
What a lovely experience to see the monkeys. Great place lots of things to do to keep the children entertained. Affordable too Great value for money.
Had an excellent day here it was fun for the adults and kids. We had lunch here it was a little expensive but they are not mean with the portion sizes. The adventure play area is fabulous n the monkeys π didnt disappoint us GREAT FAMILY DAY OUT
Had a great time, beautiful surroundings and amazing to be have the monkeys roam around you freely. Trail isnβt too long or strenuous and there are staff led activities along the way. 2 different play areas for children which are great too. Staff are knowledgable and friendly. There is a cafe and shop which are reasonably priced. Easy to find using sat nav and plenty of parking. The entry prices are fantastic too I think. Will definitely visit again and would highly recommend!
Great stop off just off the M6. We were driving from Cornwall to Glasgow and this was a perfect stop that wasnβt a service station! Was so surprised as to how good the centre was and how reasonably priced it is. You can get really close to the monkeys and there are lots of staff about who are very knowledgeable about them. The baby monkeys weβre adorable. Thereβs a feeding time every hour where you can find out more about the monkeys and lots come out for this! Absolutely loved the experience and canβt wait to go back one day. Staff were amazing, cafe was fab too! Thereβs a wee play park and the gift shop isnβt something you are forced to go into, which is fab!
Great day out!!My little Girl loved seeing the Monkeyβs.And we got to see a 5 week old which was the cutest thing. You can come and go from the Forest so you can head to the Cafe or Play area
We had a great time with our 5 year old grandson. The staff are friendly and helpful. We spent a couple of hours there, watching the monkeys and listening to one of the rangers talking about the monkeys and answering questions. My husband uses a mobility scooter which was OK on the longer walk, but I wouldnt recommend that option for wheelchair users,as its quite steep. Theres a great cafe serving an adequate choice of hot and cold options. It was a little pricey, but picnics can be taken as an alternative. (If you order the chips ,the portion size is generous, we could probably have had 1 portion between us, with a sandwich. Everywhere is clean and well kept.Id definitely recommend a visit, it was great seeing the monkeys close up.
Took my girlfriend as a surprise as monkeys are her favourite animal. Did not disappoint! Lovely to see the monkeys roaming free across the land. The cafe looks relatively reasonably priced. Best of all is that youre aiding conservation charities when you go!
had such an amazing experience here! tickets are seriously cheap as you can walk around for as long as you wish. there are feeding talks every 2 hours or so which gives you an opportunity to learn more about the monkeys. the place is great for children and adults alike. the scenery is wonderful and the staff are very attentive and friendly. the canteen could do with a little bit of a more diverse menu but itβs not a big issue in the grand scheme of things. I 100% recommend this place and would happily go again.
I went to visit a friend and we googled things to do in the area. Trentham MF showed up and what an incredible time we had! The sanctuary was gorgeous, walking areas and gardens were very pleasant, and even the coffee was pretty tasty.Getting to see these beautiful creatures was the highlight of my trip: my friend just isnt as adorable when eating a sweet potato (sorry mate)! Not to mention watching the feedings and seeing cheeky squirrels and ducks come steal seeds and grapes was quite lovely.
Amazing day out with friends and family. Can get up close to the monkeys and there is a large space to explore through. There is an hourly feeding where you can view the monkeys gathering and eating away. As well as this there are staff members available to provide facts and information about them. This was a pleasant and unique experience and definitely worth it for a day out. We were also able to easily book tickets online
Really nice place and not just to see the monkeys but also to learn interesting facts. The park is quite big and beautifully arranged. Children have several playgrounds and the restaurant has tables outside for dining.
Lovely place to spend a couple of hours. We booked tickets online the morning we were visiting, not sure if thats a viable option for school holidays though. Nice walk around the forest and lots of monkeys to see, it was great to watch feeding time and hear the talk about how the monkey forest is researching the monkeys and supporting the endangered animals. The cafe is nice and decent prices and the kids play areas are lovely.
This place is fantastic. You get to walk amongst the monkeys and watch them being fed. The guides are really knowledgeable and friendly. With macaque monkies being so endangered, the monkey forest is more than just a tourist attraction, its an important sanctuary and we were more than happy to support it.
A really lovely day out- Absolutely stunning setting and of course lovely to see the monkeys roaming freely. Some parts are quite steep for a pram/ wheelchair or if you struggle to walk (like I did being pregnant and with fibromyalgia), but I dont recall there being any steps. You can be at your own pace, at your own leisure and rest in between whilst you take it all in. Took about an hour to walk around the forest at a laid back pace taking pictures and then there are various areas available for picnics and for the kids to play on the parks, before or after the monkey experience.Make sure you take plenty of spends if you plan on getting souvenirs/food- A teddy, x3 icelollies and a fridge magnetic cost us around Β£30.00.Staff were really friendly and the toilets were reasonably clean considering how busy it got. It wasnt too long of a wait to use the facilities.Masses of free car parking space in the field infront of the venue, but again, prepare yourself for a potentially long walk before you even get through the gate! Took us about 10 mins from car to gate.We would definitely come back again.
Really great day out, saw loads of macaques which all seemed very happy which is refreshing. The gift shop was well stocked. Staff were super helpful and knowledgeable would highly recommend for any age.
Wonderfully simple place, to see the monkeys acting as naturally as possible. There are no cages or houses, they live in the small forest, loose at all times, all year, in all weathers. It seems that thousands of years ago, this breed of monkey actually lived here as well as in Algeria and Morocco. There were plenty of staff in the background, ready to answer questions, also scattering seeds to encourage the monkeys to forage around. We bought tickets in the morning and were given a time slot, when we got there we didnt have to wait.
Great place to take the kids, nice walk around the forest to see the monkeys, is pretty quick but you can go round multiple times.Coffee bar is really nice. Banana cafe also nice.Id advise doing monkey forest early morning and then go to the gardens
Stunning Monkey sanctuary set in beautiful Staffordshire countryside. Get up close to these magnificent creatures at the Monkey forest, the staff are extremely knowledgeable and friendly. Theres regular feedings with a team member giving out facts and info on the Barbary Macaques, theyre great to watch.. very entertaining!Good amenities on site, great day out by yourself.. or with kids. Highly recommended π π π¦§
Absolutely brilliant for the price. The monkeys are so happy and content. The park is kept so clean for them, lots of species of plant for them to play on. And super cute. Lots of baby monkeys. The outside was brilliant, play area is fantastic and the little walks to the reservoir are lovely. Nice information centre and cafe too. And left with a snugburys ice cream π¦ what more could you ask for?! Lush β€οΈ
Good day out. Reasonable price. Lovely play areas for the children. Lovely to see the monkeys up close and you get to see feeding time and talks too from the guides. Also an adventure quiz to do for the children. Steep slope down halfway through the walk, suitable for pushchairs as long as you hold on! Nice picnic area. Jungle shop and cafe available
Great day out with the little ones with a picnic. Was very busy as it was bank holiday. Disabled parking near the front.Only negative was that there was only 1 disabled toilet which shared facilities with baby change. As a parent of a registered disabled child, apologies to all those mums with babes in arms, but she couldnt wait 25 minutes for the toilet so yes we did queue jump π. Thank you for letting her jump to the front of the queue!
Absolutely brilliant day out. The monkeys π are so at peace and beautiful π in a gorgeous setting. Cafe was lovely lots of variety including vegan and gf. And the play area and natural woody play area were fantastic. And had a lush walk upto the reservoir and saw frogs tadpoles and newts. Great day. Lovely would give it more stars if I could
My face hurt from all the smiling I did walking around this beautiful park with many monkeys roaming freely. Absolutely gorgeous seeing the baby monkeys play , learning about the monkeys from the excellent attentive staff and watching them feed them. I appreciate aswell they ask you not to touch or interact with the monkeys as it really feels like youre a visitor in their natural habitat. Great prices too and reasonably size free car park aswell as a lovely hidden trail you can do if you fancy a walk and a fantastic play area for children too.
Fantastic experience for all ages. Reasonable entrance fee. Staff are very knowledgeable, friendly, polite and helpful. Whole place was very clean and tidy. If you like monkeys this is definitely a place to visit!
Great place to take the children for the day. Has parks and a cafe just before you go into the gated area with the monkeys. Toilets are clean and well stocked. Weather depending you could spend hours here. Bring a picnic and you can go area the monkeys as many times as you like.
Love this place you can walk around with the monkeys in their enclosure and get up close to them without any bars. The keepers feed them so they come out of the trees to get the food so you can get some great photos. There is a cafe outside the enclosure but we took a picnic and sat at one the picnic table around the grounds. There is a shop were everyone loves to visit.
We took our Grandson for his first birthday and had a fantastic time. Very well run with guides at regular intervals to answer your questions and keep the monkeys safe. We joined for a years membership as we were so impressed and could even take the days ticket price off the membership. Very good value for money and would definitely recommend a visit.
Really love visiting Monkey Forest. Monkeys everywhere and you can get really close to them. Staff really friendly and helpful Delightful experience for adults and children. 2 playgrounds and a lovely monkey gift shop. Banana cafe serves a good choice of food. Inside and outside tables with some undercover.
Great day out walking amongst the monkeys. Nice weather makes it a lot better, book ahead online as itβs slightly cheaper, lots of monkeys to see and lots of staff out and about to offer advice and interesting information. Can be steep in places so if you have difficulty walking up steep inclines you may have to adapt your route to suit. Cafe on site as well but there is also a picnic area if you want to take your own foodWell recommended
The Monkey Forest is ace. Such an amazing attraction for Stoke on Trent. Lovely to walk around and learn about the amazing work that is being done with the barbary macaques. The staff are super friendly and are great for telling people whats going on and all about the different monkeys. They have a lovely little cafe and big free car park too. Highly recommended for everyone.
