This 725-acre estate features gardens, shopping, a monkey forest, an adventure course & more.
We had a lovely walk round Lake and gardens with doggies while visiting family. Bit expensive for one off visit but parking is free and they manage the gardens and forest well.
Trentham is made up of a few different areas. For the most part, there is an outdoor shopping street, with lots of small shops and a large garden centre at the end. There is then the gardens, which takes you round the lake, with the gardens at one end, childrens play area, maze, restaurant etc.Entry fee is a little pricey at I think £11 for an adult, however its a nice walk with the dogs on a lead every now and then .
Walk up through Kings Wood on the Trentham estate despite the weather (sideways, driving rain). A good walk with great views. To get to the top there are some very short, sharp inclines which when the weather turned, went a bit slippery. Our dog had a great time in the mud and puddles and we had a lovely walk. At the beginning of the walk there is also an off lead field perfect for letting off some energy.
I was so pleased to have the opportunity to visit these gardens. I was not aware of how large they are. Even in early Autumn there was still plenty of colourful flowers to see.I enjoyed walking around the lake too
Pretty garden with some history loaded...The fairies are a lovelly touch.. hat down for the artist/s.However I have to say... theres nothing special to be paying a entrance fee of £12Theres no exhibition or anything particularly interesting other then ruins of a great Palace was sometime. Also if you enter in last 1h to the garden... why is not considered to do a discount!?Overall great experience... theres a boat on lake, also great dining Igloos,The most beautiful thing is the Italian gardens.
Beautiful gardens, but signed (signs show Trentham LAKES!badly. Only when you enter the adjacent off-site shopping area do you see the entrance to the extensive parkland and reasonably well-kept gardens. The gardens feature lots of exquisite statues constructed of wire of fairies in different poses. There were lots of different varieties of grasses to be seen, too.
Great place for a walk. No house to look around though, so expensive entry just for gardens. Nice cafe once inside and plenty if shopping outside.
Amazing grounds and ancient crumbling buildings steeped in history. Fantastic venue for any occasion. Loads of imaginative sculptures, mature trees and fountains.
Love the athmosphere when walking through the shoppung area in the morning. It wasnt overcrowded, so it was quite enjoyable browsing through the shops. After that we went for a walk in the gardens, which are lovely and still quite colourful. Also worth having a closer look at the amazing sculptures.
Certainly worth a visit with a shopping village, garden centre, large grounds with an Italian gargen, lake and a mini train to the end of the lake . If you walk to the end of the lake you will find a cafe overlooking the lake. A welcome sit down before continuing round the lake. A good place for children apart from the train, you can do spot the fairy as they are everywhere!
An enjoyable day out, dog friendly gardens and lakes. Lots of sculptures around. The gardens had a wild grass and flower section and a formal section. Not a huge amount of variety to the gardens. Busy place, toilets and places to eat and rest. Overall enjoyable and worth the entry cost. Would i want to see it twice, probably not for a few years.
Visited Trentham Gardens for first time on a nice sunny day. Impressed.Queue going in at 11 but not later. Loads of space. Good lunch in restaurant (other food & drink stalls). Good activities for kids and walks for all. Some short slopes joining different areas where manual wheelchair may need a push but electric not a problem.Outlets shops by car park and next to entrance.
Absolutely beautiful estate and gardens. I love the forgotten feel of the estate and it resulted in some beautiful photos.Theres a café in the middle of the lake where you can get delicious local oatcakes or some refreshments. They often have events on and it has ample parking. Theres a parade of shops at the front which also boasts a market on weekends. I would recommend a day trip here to make the most of it.
Great garden centre and restaurants dotted all around. Many shops from sweets to bedding clothes and outdoor wear and bicycles. The main gardens are pay on entry and are quite expensive and include the big lake walk. Outside theres plenty to walk around and see for free and parking is free too. Theres a monkey forest park with separate entry fee a five minute drive away too. Very scenic, lots of flowers and displays and a good day out!
Always lots to do at Trentham. Loved the train and walk round the lake. Hope to see the boats return to the lake soon. Great day out especially when the weather is good!
What an amazing day out! We were advised to visit Trentham Gardens because of the shopping and garden centre and obviously because of the Gardens and we were not disappointed. We couldnt believe how big the Gardens were, they are absolutely beautiful and stunning to walk through and around and to see all the different flowers and arrangements on display was fantastic. The fairy sculptures by Fantasy Wire are incredible, never seen anything quite as spectacular as these before! If only we had a garden big enough for one..and the money 💰. We cant wait to visit again for another wondering adventure, especially at Christmas, I can imagine its magical. There are some great shops there and the garden centre was great too. I cant recommend a visit more! Hopefully the pictures will make you want to go!
Stunning incredibly well maintained Estate with lovely shopping village, restaurants and garden center. Fantastic calendar of events throughout the year. Membership here is amazing value for money if you live local and a day ticket can be upgraded. Possibly one of the best purchases I have made in the last year in terms of the wellbeing factor it provides from regular visits. Popular with dog owners as a great place for walks around the lake.
Enjoyed the walk around the lake and gardens, glorious weather when we visited. Plenty of facilities for all. Cafe near the 2nd entrance was limited choice food wise.. we were hoping for something for breakfast as we visited early in the day. Sausage roll and a cookie werent ideal! Lovely and peaceful place lots of benches and picnic areas, lots of photo opportunities! Great for dogs too.
An excellent day out, great spot for a picnic. The pre-booking system is a little clunky though. When youve completed the booking form (Inc names and DOB for each ticket). The only way to view/print/download your tickets is from the link in the confirmation email. When you log directly into the Trentham website you can see your booking reference but there is no link to the tickets.
Absolutely gorgeous place. Amazing views and nice tea rooms and cafe to sit in and relax. A small park for kids with a train going around the estate. Theres also a great garden centre and shopping area. Nice place for couples or families, highly recommend!
Lovely gardens and lots of places to get food. Wide open space & fresh air. Great day out. You can book afternoon tea in garden pods, which the price for what you get isnt amazing, you do get unlimited tea & coffee refills.
Beautiful garden lots of colours and very contrast with plants and flowers, relaxing day spent with nice people, plenty of picnic areas to enjoy the views. 😀Would recommend visiting this attraction!
Great place! Gardens are beautiful! Also good for dogs, couples, families or even for a one person who would love to escape the city for a day. Great for walks and picnics, has nice kids play area.
Excellent day out. The weather helped, but lots to do whatever the weather. Great food in the garden centre, nice walk around the gardens and shops for a rainy day. Parking was easy on a Sunday in July, but I imagine its very busy sometimes. There is an overflow so I dont think youll struggle for a space ever.
Love coming here for garden & plant inspiration. Lovely walk around the lake & garden, and also had a nice ice coffee in the cafe.
Very big Area and big Park. You can come with family, and walk, relax. Many people come this place, running or fishing. This place have Amazing view.
1st Visited this place awhile back just to see the fairies made by fantasy wire they did not disappoint. Its an hour away from Manchester cant believe Ive never been here before came today with two toddlers and a dog its just as impressive as the 1st time the play areas are perfect sand everywhere toddlers loved it. Plenty of water bowls out for your pooches lots to explore for both dogs and kids plenty of shops outside the garden s reasonably priced we took a picnic for lunch and ate tea before we left at the Riverside chip shop fab food good price great portions 1 kids meal couldve fed them both will definitely be returning soon.
Beautiful gardens and lake to walk around. Bit pricey to enter though, would have cost me and the wife £25 but we tripled our Tesco clubcard points towards the cost. Will have to save up some more clubcard points before we go again.
Everyone must go here. Beautiful gardens. Fun parks and activities for children. You cant get around it all properly in one day. Well worth the money.
Nice shopping village , plenty of different shops to choose from and reasonable prices .The garden centre is huge and has two cafés /restaurants service decent quality food .The actual Gardens are lovely and peaceful .Well worth a walk round .
Absolutely loved it !! Animals well cared for and cleaned up after. Staff helpful, friendly, informative. I loved that the staff approached me to offer information and ask me if i wanted to know anything. No rip off buying monkey food as all are well and regularly fed. Clear markings to follow route around site. Definitely going to go again. Then went on to garden centre. Well laid out. Knowledgeable staff. Lovely home items, reasonable prices. Good plants. Finally on to shopping outlet. Prices a bit steep but clean, tidy and hood selection of shops. A lovely day out. Thank you Trentham.
Its been a little while since I was last around the lake so the difference was measurable. The gardens look spectacular so there is plenty to see and enjoy. Well done to the gardeners but make sure that the Himalayan balsam doesnt take hold!!
Great place to meet up with friends and have a walk around and a cup of tea. I love all the little shops inside the garden centre, but more than anything I love their outdoor garden which has hundreds of plants and flowers. I only took a few pictures, but they have so much more to offer. I like their water features and gazebos, as well as variety of garden sheds ( more like private room with the viewand green houses. I could spend hours in there, and I always come back again in another season. Highly recommend.
Great experience for relaxation and comfort. The cruise trip is stopping due to the pandemic
Had a fantastic day walking around the lake and formal gardens. Stop halfway around at the coffee shop. Dog friendly and a fantastic shopping outlets out side the entrance.
A shopping village with various eating places and a garden centre. The gardens (entrance feeinclude a large lake, fountains, lots of sculptures, ruins (not accessible), a cafe and sometimes a small train that runs along one side of the lake. There are also boat trips i think though none seemed to be runing today.
Lovely walk around the lake, flat path that is easily navigable for wheelchairs. Italian gardens are nice but think theyd be spectacular mid summer. Ice cream is lush in cafe and play area for kids looked fab. Only downside doggos on lead at all times, which for water mad spanners was hard work.
Beautiful Italian Garden , lake and surroundings. We spent over 4 hours here and could easily have stayed longer. Fantastic shopping village as well where I duly stocked up with cheese. Trentham is definitely worth a visit.
Beautiful garden, full of metal fairys and an array of wooden creature carving. Nice long walk, with cafes inside the garden.
Amazing place, best time to go would be May/June due to all flowers starting growing properly. Best for family day
Picturesque gardens and a nice pathway around the lake. It is dog friendly so I enjoy bringing my dog along too. There are plenty of options for dining as well as shopping. The garden centre also has a huge range to browse.
Monkey forest! Wow!!! This place is outstanding... Spotlessly clean inside and out.. Staff all an absolute credit.. Cafe staff so lovely and cafe manager lovely.... Shop assistant very nice tooo... Would highly recommend to anyone after a fun day out
One of our favourite places to visit. The gardens are wonderful and the retail Village is a charming area with interesting shops selling everything from gourmet foods to fashion, luggage to beauty treats. There are lots of benches to rest on which is great if you have mobility issues. The Garden Centre is excellent. The main path through the centre leads you through a houseplants section and then onto an area showcasing gorgeous smells of bath bombs, soaps and oil diffusers. Then you walk through the kitchenware/ gadgets section. After that you can enjoy beautiful pieces of art and home decor. Next is the clothing area with clothes, shoes, bags and accessories. The toy section is next with lots of traditional toys and pocket money toys. The book section is next featuring unusual greetings cards and stationery gifts. Lastly is the gourmet foods and alcohol section. The Garden Centre has a path leading outside and over the River Trent and displays stunning plants for sale. The restaurant is excellent with good quality food. Or for a lighter choice try the coffee shop with its deep comfortable sofas and armchairs. The cakes are worth trying! The Garden Centre is so much more than just a plant and garden tools shop!
The gardens cost £12 to enter and are free to RHS members at certain times of the year (November to March). There are a number of walks around the gardens. The gardens contain a lake which has black swans, herons and a number of other birds on. There are two cafes at either end of the lake. These are reasonably priced. You can obtain cream teas, ice cream, oatcakes, other snacks and drinks from.
Excellent day out around the lake and gardens, also theres a large shopping outlet plus a garden centre on the same complex
A nice place to walk around with a large garden centre and great restaurant. The village has many shops and food outlets. The gardens would have been great in the summer but there was no colour. I recognise it’s winter but a few winter flowers would be nice. There are many food outlets and the toilets were all clean and well maintained.Well worth a visit for all members of the family.Accessibility wise, this is probably one of the best locations for wheelchair users as every footpath I saw is well maintained and on the flat or marginal gradient.
Wonderful lakeside walk and shopping outlet village. The light display and fairy statues they had up for Christmas were so wonderful, full of character and mischievous energy! A great place to go with family or kids
We had tickets for the Christmas lights trail on a rather cold Friday night. To be honest we hadnt got a clue what to expect and at £20 each we were a bit apprehensive. However we thought the very impressive scale and effort of the display made it well worth the entry fee. Unfortunately I am not sure I could say that the food and drink were value for money though. A bit more illumination of the paths would have been helpful to navigate the puddles.Unfortunately the photos dont do it justice. The gardens access is from the centre of the shopping village.
We had such a beautiful late afternoon walk around the gardens. There’s so much flora and fauna to see around the lake. I adore the black swans with their bright red beaks. They are such a delight to see. The estate are doing really well keeping the environment in such beautiful condition. Very peaceful, and very relaxing. I felt like I’d been on holiday.
Visited here and hapened to be a market going on. Fabulous!! Stall great and food amazing. With that added to usual shops, of which there is a great selection, great day out. Main shop had some nice things for sale but mostly rather expensive stuff which we would never buy. Spent afternoon walking around Trentham Gardens - £25 for two. Felt slightly pricey but gardens are so well done we felt it was worth it after we had made it around the lake. Overall loved it.
