Comfortable, artsy spot featuring live music nightly, plus cocktails & island-style appetizers.
Trees Lounge in Lihue
Description
My friend and I had so much fun here! Drinking and dancing is our jam and the DJ did not disappoint! Open soon so I can visit again in August!!
MoreAlways fun entertainment. Food is not so nice for vegans. I think the fries were ok but the focaccia thing was like no food for extra money.
MoreThis gets 2 stars for the fish and chips being worse than a McDonalds fish sandwich. My girlfriend had the shrimp and the bread that came with it was hard and stale. The service was mediocre at best and the pricing was high even for Kauai.
MoreIm a local farmer and the service is local. They are close to folk and serve it up island style with a touch and accuracy. This place has great music regularly and some of the best bartenders you can meet. Say Aloha and enjoy the town!!
MoreWe arrived almost at 11pm and the kitchen guy cooked for us and was very kind.We were listened good live music 🎶.We come back for sure.
MoreNot so happy with food nor service. Only 2 people working the entire place of 50 plus tourists. 1 bartender and 1 young guy in open kitchen space. We are a layed back couple but got irritated when we had to wait 2 hours for a salad and shrimp. Very small plates as well.
MoreJust discovered the Trees Lounge. The food is exceptional as is the attention to detail. If you’re staying anywhere near, you should definitely try this place. It proved to be the best food and service in the area.
MoreThe worst service in Kauai - we went there for dinner with the idea of a nice lounge but close by the hotel. But they had a single waitress that serves about 20-25 patrons. So orders went through after 10 minutes, it took us 2 min to choose. But then drinks came 10 min later, and food another 10 or min. We even asked for an appetizer and the waitress admitted that no chance we could get the appetizer before the main. Each time we want to asked something such as extra napkins or hot water. Eventually we gave up even to get the bill and went directly to the cashier paying for the dinner and skipping the tip
MoreGreat open mic every 2nd and 4th Thursday of the month. Good grinds and longboard on tap. What more do you need?
Morefriendly old lady at the entrance who is trying hard to get votes for her female comedy evening. hope it was a success! the barlady was the best waitress in the whole restaurant. the waitress itself was a complete catastrophe. it looked like she was smoking too much weed and she was completely distracted from flirting with the cook behind the corner. beside that, the food was good and the red wine was properly cooled down as you should do it with a good red wine 🙄
MoreFun lounge with live music. Good menu, nice wait staff. I love dancing there but can only last a little while because the music is so loud that it hurts the ears. Maybe that is designed to attract a younger crowd, or else a very old crowd?
MoreStaff ruined my girlfriend’s and my birthday night celebration here by aggressively confronting us, getting in her face, and public shaming us for not paying our tab. In fact, our bartender was aware we were changing seats, that we had never left the restaurant, and had planned to stay the whole night to enjoy the talented local DJ for my birthday. People around us were clearly uncomfortable and felt her actions were completely uncalled for as well. So, we were forced to leave (of course, after paying our tab...). I will never return, there are many more friendly venues in Kapa’a to enjoy, which I encourage you to do also.UPDATE: After speaking with the owner, who was in fact the person who aggressively questioned my girlfriend without cause, I was “shushed” while speaking, constantly talked over, and overall she showed no remorse. Please consider this when choosing your restaurant to dine at, as there are many great options in kapaa (nom Kauai, lemongrass, tap and hops, pono market, JO2)
MoreGreat place to wind down with Live music & good drinks & food for happy hour! We had the best service, Tess really hooked us up with places to visit while here! We will be back!
MoreGreat place to hang out on Kauai. I went a few times and saw a nice variety of music, good drinks and really tasty bar food, served late night, which is rare for Kauai. My server was Tess and she provided a great experience for a bar environment, friendly and attentive, excellent service. Earlier was good for dinner and mellow music, more lively later in the night. Reasonably priced.
MoreService was terrible. Waitress took our credit card and took about 20 minutes to return with it so we could leave. We had originally left a generous tip but took most of it back because it was so slow.
MoreGreat local bar hangout in Kapaa, Kauai. Pupus and drinks galore, they even have live bands performing. What more can you ask for? Had a great time with family!
MoreIts a rarity to find a place where you can enjoy a few drinks (or more than a fewwhile listening to live music at night then head back for brunch the next morning and have just as much fun. Trees Lounge is such a place. My girlfriend and I were staying at the resort nearby and found ourselves at Trees often. Great bartenders, friendly (as alloweddoor bounces and delicious food. Highly recommend a bloody Mary to start the day off right!
MoreExcellent food and great atmosphere. They also have live music every night they are open.
MoreGood food. Probably the best steak I have had on the island. Bar maids are friendly. Live music every night. Dance floor. Night club after 9:00pm
MoreFirst time at Trees last night. Only rate a 4 because I did not have food. As for enjoyment, the wonderful little space was absolutely ROCKIN’ last night with solid blues music by Jess Montgomery and his band. The owner is a great dancer and even got me up on stage to sing with the band! Wonderful release. All ages had a great time. Everyone was dancing and friends were made all around! Mahalo!
MoreI had a gpod time. The waitress suggested steak nachos...perfect. i wanted a bit to eat my date was hungry. It worked out well
MoreGreat time! They hire local talent for entertainment, and they offer a nice variety. Food is good. Our service was fine, but the table next to us waited almost an hour for their food. I enjoy the Happy Hour martinis.
MoreGreat live music every Friday and Saturday. Cover charge is usually $5 sometimes $10 depending on the band, as that is who the cover charge goes to. (Support your local music scene.Overall, a great place to go for locals and tourists to mix together and get hi.... drunk together.
MoreLove music on Tuesdays and they also have a BBQ platter on Tuesdays that looks pretty good. Definitely worth checking out
MoreBest place, excellent drinks, friendly staff, excellent calamari!
The black bean nachos were fantastic. It was my first stop for drinks in Kauai so I ordered a MaiTai and it was perfect. Shout out to our server, chef and bartender! Everything was great!
MoreFun atmosphere. I give it a 2 star because we are gluten free. The cook and server have no idea about the importance of knowing about it. The waitress decided to not give us an order because it had nuts on it (thinking it was a gluten), she gave a completely different salad because of nuts, the menu says something is gs but the flyers are not dedicated to being gf. There was a hair in my martini. When i told the waitres, she just took my drink. She charged full price for the drink even though it was a happy hour drink. First time in my life i was tempted to give ZERO tip.
MoreThe worst Mai Thai cocktail I ever had, even though the bar tender made me a new one after I complained. Couldnt drink it. Didnt like the band, left after 10 minutes. Never ever again
MoreIt on the grounds of Aston Islander on the Beach resort. It has live music and a lively group of people nightly. They also have a good menu thats pretty reasonable price wise ,considering its on a resort in Kauai.
MoreGreat live music and nice happy hour drinks and appetizers. Enjoyed it very much.
MorePretty much some of the only late night activity on kauai. They have live music a few times a week and i think salsa dancing on one night. They have good food for a bar and serve later than most other places nearby. If you’re gonna dance, don’t wear pants, it gets hot. They have a full bar and 5-6 beers on tap. Definitely worth checking out. Good atmosphere here but respect the local crowd.
MoreFood is great and the serivce great too. Always have live band and its a great place to meet other people from different places. With location this place its in between two Hotels and you meet allot of guest here. But parking can be hard to find sometimes amd its open late everything on Kauai closed at 9pm. Well dont just read this review go check this place out.
MoreKinda a hole in the wall but totally local!! We went for happy hour and was treated to local talent, Haunani, and impromptu hula dancing from the patrons!! We even bought a few CDs!It turned out to be one of the highlights of our trip! The food is okay and waitresses seem tired but it didnt matter...we stayed 3 hours for the music!
MoreCute little bar with food. One REALLY rude waitress & a nice one. GREAT music! Fun place to dance.
MoreThe seating area was beautiful, sever very friendly, approchable, over all very welcoming. The juice was very fresh!! We went with kids that loves the Belgium waffles! The apple pancake was savory!! ESPECIALLY if you have a sweet tooth but it was not overwhelming! No complaints!!
MoreThe adult beverages are the main reason to come here. The live music is pretty enjoyable as well. The only food that I think is worth any money are the Cajun fries and the sliders. Definitely dont waste your money on the jerk chicken: it was so bland that I was personally offended by it 😅. Still, a great place to go drink, hangout, socialize and/or listen to music.
MoreMy second visit, and it was the same (and greatSpanish guitar band...sorry I dont remember the name. Food was good, typical prices. Waiter was very nice - it was fairly empty when we got there (around 7/8). She said it picks up after 10 with the younger crowd.
MoreWonderful food. The waitress was very fun and energetic. Great place to have drinks and dance!
MoreThe food was really good, much better then I expect it. And there is live music 6 days a week, the musician did a good job I thought.
MoreGreat ambiance with live music and hula dancing. We enjoyed the cocktails and atmosphere.
MoreCame on a Saturday, country band was playing. Not too busy. Food wasnt that good, service was so-so. The owner came by and checked on us which felt nice. Maybe we just didnt like food and band but unfortunately it was not our best out experience in Kauai.
More5 stars because of the staff. Ask for Savannah, She never stops moving and takes care of everyone around her and has the respect of everyone who works there. If you treat her and everyone else there with kindness and respect you will get treated by her more as a local than just another tourist. The bartender Mia listens very well and always took care of me. T the bouncer was also very thoughtful and kind but do not mistake that for toughness as he is an ex football defensive lineman. My only concern for this place is that the owner who is kind and respectful is also really stressed out and needs a vacation on the mainland away from tourists as I think the stress of having to deal with some of the rude and disrespectful behavior from entitled tipsy tourists is really grating on him. I know it grated on me and I was only on the the island two weeks.
MoreTwo words: Martini madness! Stopped by here on my most recent trip to Kauai and loved it. We were sick of paying $15 for okay drinks other places so you really couldnt say no to delicious $6 martinis. I believe they have live music every night..it seems to switch between happy hour and the late evening but the music they had for happy hour was fantastic. Fun and bluesy. The only bummer is that they are closed Sun/Mon but it seems as if thats a pretty common thing for businesses in the area.
MoreNice nightspot for Kapaa locals and visitors alike. true local music and a fair amount of talent. Menu is limited but good. all in all pretty darn good.
MoreThe only place in Kapaa in one of the few places on the island that have live music every night. A great place to stop in for dinner and drinks
MoreWent to Trees for the live music fall of 2015. This was my first time to Trees, and my first and only day on Kauai (I have family on Oahu and spend lots of time in Hawaii). I arrived a few minutes before midnight & the bouncer still required I pay the fee to cover the live band. I asked how late the band would be playing b/c I didnt want to pay & then have them stop playing right after I went in. He told me the band would play until at least till 1:00am, but often later. I paid the band fee, went in, and after a couple of songs the band stopped playing - a couple of minutes after midnight. I mentioned this to my server - wasnt angry or anything - just told her about it, and she left and came back and refunded my band fee. I walked out, and on my way out, the bouncer, who made if very clear to me he was a local, got all up in my face, swore at me and called me an Fu*&in haol·e ... & told me he was going to beat the s*&t out of me and began saying I was like all the other white boy haoles and that we are responsible for ruining Hawaii etc. He was big and intimidating and clearly Polynesian, and had some of his boys out there with him backing him up to scare me off. Classy way to treat someone who just wanted to listen to music & check out a new bar/restaurant. My ancestors were the very first people to inhabit the area I grew up in, but if this bouncer or his friends, white, Poly, black, or any other race or place of origin, come and visit, I will welcome them and treat them as a brother - b/c thats what we all are here on this planet. But Trees apparently doesnt mind that it employs an ignorant and racist bouncer that gets drunk and out of control and scares off anyone that isnt from Kauai. Hey bouncer dude: youre a disgrace to the true Hawaiian tradition of aloha, shaka, ohana, etc.
Morewe were looking for a spot to have a few drinks after 10pm (apparently the whole island closes after darkand trees was what we settled on. we had a good time but there were more than a few instances where you got the impression the locals didnt exactly welcome you to their island. we avoided any real trouble but...
MoreFood was pretty bad, had a shrimp poboy. Stale bread frozen ingredients. Six in party, food was ready in 10 minutes... What? This used to be great food. Gumbo, salad were bad. Ribs and manapua was good.
MoreBeen there many times. Very good chow, music, superb atmosphere. Unless youre among that species who wears or appreciates suits and ties, youll love this place. One of my favorite hangouts on the planet.
MoreGreat atmosphere, great service, great food great live music went 4 times while in kuai. Was never disappointed. Would mos def love a place like this back home.
