Treasure Museum - Museum in Tarabuco, Bolivia
We took a guided tour in English with Luigi and it was amazing! Lots to learn about history, politics, geography, geology etc and a wonderful collection of artefacts to view too! Not just for jewellery lovers! Cafe was closed at time of our visit but there is seating and bathrooms and a gift shop.
A pretty nice, albeit small, set of exhibits outlining the history of mineral and precious metal mining in Bolivia. To see the exhibits, there is only the 30-40 min long guided tour, which costs 25 Bolivianos per person. On my tour, my guides English was a bit spotty but generally understandable, though Spanish-speaking visitors are sure to get more from the experience in that language. The museum is clean and nicely organized, displaying an array of Bolivian treasures and their origin. Though nothing absolutely extraordinary, it is a nice museum worth visiting if you are in the city. Also, photography of the inside of the museum is now prohibited, but apparently you can ask to license some pictures for free from the museum if you email.
Not only about jewelry but also very good for understanding the history and features of mining industry in Bolivia. Im glad that I visited here before Potosi.
To be honest, I think 25 B is too much for a 30 minute tour. The displays are predominantly jewellery and mineral ore. There are some interesting dioramas of precious metal extraction but nothing of the mines in Potosi, Incan use of gold or life as a miner. Theres a lot of potential here but needs more information. Also, what they dont tell you is that you have to visit with a guided tour that leaves every half hour and you have to pay in advance to reserve a place. I visited four times on three seperate days before I finally got inside and on a tour!
Very interesting museum on Bolivia’s mining history, metals, minerals and gems. The museum is guided and my guide was incredibly knowledgeable and made it a five star experience for me! Definitely worth checking out when you’re in Sucre.
This museum seemed interested and we took the guided tour in english. Unfortunately the tour guide could not have been less interested in giving the tour... She was sighing A LOT, was obviously in a rush and was talking very fast. Because of the fast talking and the very strong accent, we had a hard time understanding the explanations. She was rushing us from one room to another and actually we were as relieved as her when we were done.
Super muzeum pokazuje historie wydobywania szlachetny kanieni w Boliwi. BARDZO CIEKAWE EXPOZYCIE. CENA ZA WEJSCOWKE 25 BOB
Great, very interesting.
Very nice experience, it is a guided tour and they explain the process of gold, silver and other minerals. Interesting and great guide.
I had a guided tour in this museum and the guide explained everything really well! Leaned a lot from him and this museum!
Amazing and personalised
Nice place with a lot of bolivian mining history
Increíble museum. Full of amazing information about gold, silver and the bolivianita. You can’t take pictures of the inside which is a bummer. Entrance is 25 bolivianos for nationals and foreigners
What makes this museum special was our English tour guide (included by the museum with your ticket). It was a great way to learn about Bolivia in a new way and the history of Sucre.Totally recommend if you are in town.
Entretenido.
Super!
Super tour guide Hebert
Nice and interesting little tour of the rocks of the andes
ABOUT AND HOUR LONG TOUR AND IT IS DIFFERENT MINES
Very nice tour, interesting and the museum is well organised
Such a wonderful museum! A really interesting and beautiful collection, and so well presented. The guide was wonderful, and the whole visit really informative - not to be missed!
Super cool museum, our English speaking guide was so lovely! We gained so much knowledge from the experience. The only down fall was that you couldn’t take photos, this is sad for the museum as tourists who visit cannot show others and encourage then to go or to spread publicity about the fantastic museum on social media. There should even be one area you could take photos because the tour was brilliant and more people should know about it
Absolutely worth a visit! Very interesting tour within the museum. It’s small, but really nice!
Very interesting experience. Learned a lot about various gems both precious and semiprecious. The tour is a must; its offered in Spanish, English, and French.
Awesome tour in a very historical building; good insight into mining and the rich land in Bolivia.
Fun tour that gives a history of Bolivian silver, gold and gem stone mining. Tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and explained how all the different gem stones formed in the geological formations as well as the history of silver and gems in local dress.
DOES NOT HAVE A BATHROOM
Great tour, interesting information, all well explained
Best English tour Ive ever had for only the price of entrance. Super affordable. Time well spent
Good museum, very professional English speaking guide, and well organized.
Interesting tour, good guide and the museum itself has a cool set up. Dont forget the jeweler shop at the end!
Excellent place !!! So much to see !! I truly recommend it !
Grate history
Its quite a small museum, but offers interesting history and information about the area and mining industry in the country. The entrance fee is 25 bol and includes a guided tour, which lasts about 45 minutes. English tour guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. Definitely go for this when in Sucre!
If there is nothing to do there. Take the guide he is good fun
