Траянини кошари - Bulgarian restaurant in Sofia, Bulgaria
I have visited only once in spring, but it was lovely! Absolutely amazing doing food, Ill definitely return again to taste something else. High standards of cooking and service. The place was mostly empty though, what a shame, so the atmosphere was a bit dull. And a bit of better English from the waiters could be useful. But overall a must dine at!
Fantastic experience, everything was absolutely delicious, love the desserts.
Amazing food, one of the best in Sofia!Perfect combinations, perfect sizes, my favorite was the duck!I will definitly come back!
This is an expensive high-level restaurant. The menu offers interesting combinations, but but while the dishes are curious, they were not equally delicious. We had difficulties working with the service team on properly expensing the dinner, a thing one would expect to be easy there.
Excellent food. Amazing atmosphere. The waiters had great attitude and attention to every detail. Highly recommend.
Great presentation but all the dishes have way too much sugar. I had high expectations but it felt I had desert for every course and not in the good way. I felt that the flavours lacked balance.
authors cuisine restaurant. The menu is updated every season. We really enjoyed. Come to the autumn menu.
Good place, nice service. No vegan desserts except the sorbet. Too high prices for what they offer. We wouldn’t try again because it wasn’t anything spectacular for the price range.
The restaurant is very cosy and has an easy atmosphere and vibe. The background music is very nice. The staff is friendly and polite. The menu is very nice; international fusion. I had the calamari with curry and coconut which was a very nice surprise. When I think of calamari I do not think of curry. But here I am 😋 Ng my fingers. My partner had the fois gras mousse which was a fusion of flavors and textures. Really forward thinking and challenging your taste buds to go on the next level. For the main dish i had the slow cooked pork with the bacon jam and gravy. Now the pork was tender and the jam completed the flavor of the gravy, however I found the gravy a bit heavy. My partner had something really interesting - fish ( salmon troutWellington with curry sauce, fennel and spinach/wakame side. The curry was much milder and I would say richer in the main dish, much different than the one in the calamari starter. The spinach/wakame side was mainly spinach but you can feel the wakame crunch accompanied by the sesame seeds. The desert options were nice. I had the chocolate one. It was a "block of chocolate" with truffle texture and feeling served with some ice cream. The ice cream was a bit tangy which I liked because it complimented the thick richness of the chocolate. My partner had a cognac and the waiter recommended the ice cream on a stick to go with it. If you ask me the ice cream was good nothing wow nothing poor. It was served with mango gel and a piece of sponge cake and crumbles. Again I was not impressed by it.Now all in all a good experience but I am waking away a star because we made a reservation and we werent on the list and were offered a table outside. After 15-20 mins someone didnt show up for their reservation and we were offered a table inside, which we took. We were seated near the door and saw the reservation problem happened to 2 more groups of people and of course they were offered a table outside as well.
Very nice place for a foodie enthusiast. We were too hungry and forgot to photograph our main brunch - eggs benedict. They were delicious, although the portions were not quite sufficient, so we decided to split an additional salad and then dessert. The dessert was presented beautifully, but I expectated a little more taste wise. I would definitely visit again to try something of the main menu, since we mostly ordered from the brunch menu.
great food, great staff, everything was very tasty and beautifully presented. Desserts are something special!!! A restaurant that must be visited at least once ( but if you visit it once - you will repeat it 😀 )
Tasty balanced dishes, fresh ingredients, modern and welcoming ambiance.
Favourite place for a cozy and delicious lunch. Have been a guest of the restaurant a couple of times. I absolutely love the food (best brunch menu in town). One of the places where you eat not because you’re hungry, but because you want to experience food. Service is excellent - always polite and they make you feel comfortable. I recommend with two hands.
One of the best restaurants in Sofia! The menu is creative, very interesting, untypical combinations but absolutely amazing. Everything we tried was extremely delicious ❤ Great selection of wines, matching to the dishes. The service was very friendly and cooperative. Each dish was presented to us. We also met the chef Sevda Dimitrova. So charismatic and shining person! The atmosphere in the restaurant is very relaxing! Each visit is a great experience for us ❤️
Superb food quality. Great dinner experience. Although it is an expensive place, to me it was worth the precisely cooked and delicious gourmet dishes.
Had several bad experiences there. During brunch my meal was cold, when I asked the waiter he said he would prepare a fresh meal. When I asked what he meant, he said they prepare the brunch food beforehand, not to order. This is crazy for the price. Additionally my friend asked for a dish without something she was allergic to. The waiter refused. He said it was an insult to the chef to ask them to change the reciept. I will never go back.
Incredible meal, excellent wine list--we ordered the lamb and had Alice in Wonderland for dessert. Highly recommended!
Unfortunately I had stomach problems after having two of the meals there (pret-a-porte salad and the seabass). Our pregnant friend, who couldnt freely have anything from the menu, asked if she could have the kids meal (chicken fillet with potatoesand initially the waiter spent 5 minutes explaining to how they cant do this and there were only four portions of this meal available for children... having in mind that there wasnt a single child in the entire restaurant. Eventually the waiter brought her the chicken but the bad impression stayed.Wine was nice, so was the desert and the service was overall okay though I personally find this restaurant too pricey for the quality of food and service.
I have not missed a chance to pay Ahora a visit in my last four trips to Bulgaria, what a gem of a restaurant! The atmosphere and interior are so chic and elegant (10/10), and so is the presentation. Oh the food! How good the food is! Modern takes on some classic Bulgarian and European dishes. My favourite so far must have been the incredible strawberry gaspacho, followed by a truffle and asparagus dish! Every plate at Ahora tells a story and I cannot wait to get more of it, 10/10 for flavour! Ive been there for lunch four times in the last year and each time is better than the previous. In fact, I dont think Ive been to any other restaurant 4 times in a single calendar year since 2019! This should go to show you Ahoras level of gastronomy. In my last visit I got to meet head chef Sevda, who is kind, polite and attentive. Looking forward to an opportunity to try the blue eggs Benedict.
Thoughtfully prepared food, good quality ingredients, beautiful presentation and reasonable prices for what you get. Quiet location and relaxing ambiance. It is also a great place for brunch and they have excellent lunch options. The menu is constantly refreshed, but way too often egg Benedict, waffles and fried portobello repeat themselves. In addition, while the service is very good overall, phrases like I am just a worker...as owner says. are not appropriate for this class of restaurant, even if customers are too picky or obnoxious, it is a disconnect. So I give five stars for the food, but in reality I would take one back for the service.
I find it overrated. The white asparagus from the appetizer was not prepared properly - the wooden part at the bottom was not trimmed at all. The honey-mustard popcorn from the other appetizer was just normal popcorn. The crispy polenta was not crispy. The vegetarian main dish “spring smile” was just roasted vegetables with the same sauce from the asparagus appetizer…I expected more from a vegetarian chef. The dessert was extremely sweet - chocolate, caramel, sugary cream and more chocolate … Service was ok. Honestly, nothing spectacular. I would definitely not go back. 3 starts might be too much for the price.
Great food, very interesting menu. The deserts are fantastic. The atmosphere is nice, the only minor thing is the service is a bit slow. While it allows you to enjoy the meal in peace, for drinks is a bit too slow.
The best meal we had in Sofia! Some dishes were better than others but it was a very positive experience overall..The dishes we loved were: white asparagus with white chocolate sauce, truffle and parmesan..amazing dish. The duck and tortellini in blueberries and beetroot..was perfectly cooked!Service was very good, we enjoyed a nice bottle of local wine.Totally recommended.
The dessert was fire, the other dishes honestly werent up to my taste. Nice interior. Overall, rather expensive.
Lets start this review by explaining who is Sevda Dimitrova. So, she is a winner at Best amateour chef competition named Master chef . This format is very popular in many countries and stadarts set by it are really very high. All said so far means that the cuisine is supposed to be very, very special and not for the masses, but for the very high-end connoisseurs. I would say it is so.But lets go in more detail. The cuisine was high-end. Frankly speaking, I have been to many expensive restaurants in Hamburg, Rome or Paris, but not like this one, and therefore, I can not compare one to the others easily. Those places were offering something more normal along to a very special meal so that I could feel the difference. Ahora serves only very special meals with very strange products. I got polenta and beef but did not find them special. My wife went for sea bass and It was very delicious. This place is special to the extent that potato is a product not able to be transformed in a special meal. Maybe my taste is not delicate enough to find the uniqueness of the cuisine.About the service. The wаiter was explaining everything we ordered, and with the idea, it was so unique and unmatched. He was not asked to do so. He also poared a sauce over my meat whitout my permission and i was dissapointed because i just wanted to taste firstly the meat wihout any additions and secondly to mix it with the souce. Also there was certain period of time without any personeel to which we can order something.I found strange the fact that the only type of fresh juice the Ahora serves is orange. I stressed this, and i got grapfruit fresh juice, which was my desire.Prices are high, and it is normal for this type of restaurant. Parking nearby is paid, which makes the task of finding empty parking lots easier. The easiest way to pay is by a text message, and the cost is 0.5 EUR per hour.Nearby, there is a park for a nice walk during the Spring - Autumn period. My verdict is 3.5 out of 5 stars, and I would go again, but maybe in a time.
We had a great time at brunch. Service and food were perfect.
Very high level of service, ingredients, atmosphere and of course the taste of the food. In conclusion, it is one of the best restaurants in Bulgaria.Congratulations and see you soon
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟Ahora has always impressed with the quality and innovativeness of dishes, but this time miss Dimitrova has outdone herself with this latest salad pictured below. I dont think I have eaten a more tasty salad in the last half of year, and Ive been to places. Excellently done. The thing should be cut like a stake and my only complaint was I needed sharper knife. Other than that, this salad is heavenly! ❤️🔝🔝If you need to bring your friends somewhere really fancy in terms of quality of food, but not super super expensive, thats your place. I would bring foreign friends for sure.🤞 Service is mostly decent, overall its high quality too.
Beautifully creative food in a charming setting. Highly recommend! (And do try the Smokey Sour cocktail 🍸:)
Master chef experience.Perfect presentation, exceptional taste🌪🍅 Salad with dehydrated tomatoes🍝 Pasta filled with chestnuts sauce, parmigiano and truffle pieces🍰 Delicious dessertsAll presented with a story🤌
The best place to taste amazing food no matter if it is just for a quick lunch or fine dinner. Service is on very high level. The ingredients are described when the food is served. There was a sommelier who recommends wine based on the dishes you have ordered. Don’t miss the desserts also.
When you do something that you love,it shows.Impressive plating, delicious food and cozy ambience. The only thing that need more attention is the service, but overall great place.Highly recommend!
The cream was vary tasty but the second dish was plane. The atmosphere is nice and relaxing.I am also giving two stars because the waiter was so rude and sarcastic when we paid.
The food is wonderful, well-prepared with excellent presentation and quality. The only thing we found rather offputting was the waiting staff who seemed rather disengaged and at the end of dinner actually asked for more tip then we were willing to give. When we agreed to tip him with the amount he wanted with a card, he demanded it cash "so it wouldnt get taxed".Honestly, a high-end restaurant such as this needs better trained and professional waiters.Cheers
An excellent restaurant that I would recommend to anyone who values good food. The place is cosy, the service is good and the selection of food is different and very tasty. I would certainly go back!
The taste is amazing! The prices are not that high for the quality of the food and service. Visiting be brave with any order, you will not regret it. The tables outside are looking like the better option.
The restaurant was absolutely what I was looking/hoping for! The atmosphere was great, very cosy with nice music. The food was absolutely fantastic, very beautifully plated. Also, the waiter was very nice with us, he gave us a presentation of the food we ordered. Such a wonderful experience! I am so going to visit the restaurant again in near future! Congratulations! Keep up the great work!
I’ve watched Sevda Dimitrova in Masterchef and I knew she is a vegetarian (or at least was during the show), so I definitely expected more than just 5 meatless options at all (incl. salads, starters and mains).Undoubtedly, what impressed me the most was the Cheesecake! - the way it’s served and its taste! Also, the creamy vegetable soup was so delicious!
I really enjoyed my visit to this restaurant, the service was awesome and the food are just amazing. They have indoor and semi outdoor seating area. The place indoor is not too spacious, so not the best if you have small kids.I ordered the "Black Box" for 60lv, a surprise 3 course menu, chosen by the chefs. You can tell the waiter in advance if you have any food allergies.I was blown away by all of the 3 dishes served. I highly recommend this place.
Weve been enjoying Ahoras food and service for some time now. There is always some new delicious & well presented dishes/desserts to surprise you... Recommending 100% :)
Delicious food served in nice portions. The menu includes some more rare options all well prepared. The desert was toping everything. Definitely a place to visit while in Sofia
Ahora was an experience! The atmosphere was homely and just so welcoming! The staff was elegant, made sure we are educated about the food we were being served. The black box idea is ingenious for Bulgaria and such a great way to keep you excited about dinner. I will be returning and will be bringing loads of friends. Thank you to the amazing staff and cooks!
I have watched maybe 2 or 3 full seasons of Master Chef and parts of some of the seasons. No one ever impressed me like Sevda Dimitrova . So I was eager to visit Restaurant Ahora. Ive been there several times and they never disappoint. The place is cozy with many small details. My personal favorites are Vegeterian "Tarama" and Passion fruit tart. I really liked the Porgy fish as well with the unique taste of morels. You only live once dish was also delicious.
The food is delicious, desserts are must! You should try weekend brunch and the weekly lunch too, interesting, great prepared and very tasty!I think that one of the waiters isn’t very kind but this is not enough to spoil our good mood from the tasty food and nice interior at this place.
We had another amazing night at this restaurant! Sevda prepared amazing food. Not only beautiful but tasty. I especially enjoyed the velvety chestnut soup! But the star of the night was the unbelievable cheesecake. Must try!!!
Everything about this restaurant is five star! The atmosphere is very warm and welcoming, the staff is very polite, the service is fast and effective. In the summer there are very nice tables outside. My favourite things to eat are the lunch menu and the desserts, especially "Sheherezada"! The owner, Sevda, is a real proffesional, the beat chef in Sofia!
I highly recommend this place. The atmosphere was welcoming and warm. I really liked the intensity of flowers. The food was delicious and innovative, very well plated. The staff was polite and helpful. I would definitely come back again.
What a divine place! One of the best restaurants Ive ever experienced. Everything in the menu is amazing. You cant go wrong here. I never go back to the same restaurant twice but this time I had to make an exception, and it was just as amazing in tye second time. Salads are amazing. Pork rib, duck marget and cod fillet are also exceptional. And please, do not skip the Shachrezada desert. I cannot do justice to it with words, and so does the menu description, so just order it and thank me later.
Some of the best looking dishes ever plated.Lets start with the desserts. Chocolate cakes, Moroccan cake, pistachio cream, and more are constructed to look like artwork. You can sense the skills and pride in making the desserts. The main courses utilize high quality ingredients and they are every bit as beautiful as the desserts. The appetizers such as the fried calamari, chicken and salads are all perfectly made and presented. Just look at the photos. Gorgeous!Make a reservation before coming because this restaurant is usually full.
This is one of the most amazing restaurants with a purely magical atmosphere. The food is extremely delicious, the ingredient combinations are unusual, the texture of the food is always so nice to experience and the taste is exploding. As to the food presentation and plating - I have never seen better looking dishes. Each plate is like a piece of art, so the satisfaction is full and absolute. The menu provides options for all tastes and preferences - salads (with meat or without), starters and main dishes (vegetarian, with fish or meat), unusual soups interpretations and quite unique desserts that will make you smile. The service is really good and corresponds perfectly with the whole atmosphere and level of experience. And the owner Sevda is truly inspiring :)The prices are not low, however what you receive in return is a pure happiness.I really love this place :)
