Off the A45 road, this straightforward budget hotel in a low-rise redbrick building is a 5.5-mile drive from Birmingham's NEC exhibition centre and an 8.4-mile drive from Cadbury World.Casual rooms feature limited free Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs and desks, plus tea and coffeemaking facilities. Family rooms add pull-out beds. Breakfast is available for a fee.The hotel offers complimentary parking.
A little worn in places but obvious work going on to update. The staff couldnt have been more friendly and helpful!
I can’t believe this hotel is actually even allowed to be open. The whole hotel is absolutely filthy. The area it’s in isn’t great. The only good thing about it is that there’s on-site parking and it’s near the NEC. But I will never stay in this hotel or any other travelodge ever again after staying here. It’s noisy, the rooms are filthy and don’t get cleaned properly. The staff were friendly.Do NOT book to stay here.
A big thank you to a young lady named Heleema who welcomed me into the hotel when I checked in on Monday 24/10/22after a long drive followed by a days work it was really nice to be greeted by a friendly smiling face ,please pass on my thanks to her.regardsAlan
Next time, and I advise this to anyone considering this hotel, spend a bit more for somewhere else that you know is going to meet standards.First of all, giving this a two star review about this hotel, is being extremely kind on my part. When I opened the door to my room, it was a complete tip. The bed wasnt made, there were empty pizza boxes beside the full bin under the desk, which had used mugs on it, and in the bathroom, used towels were in the shower. So I went down to reception to tell them, and their response was that because they were having maintenance (they had no hot water at this point in time eitherdone to the hotel, they didnt know what rooms had been made up. Which isnt a good enough excuse at all.Nevertheless, I waited for a few minutes in reception for them to arrange another room, which they did.The new room was thankfully made up, but was far from perfect. The carpet was worn and torn with what looked like stained drops of blood surrounding the bed.On the wall to the left of the bed, it was stained and marked with what looked like faded blood and some other dark liquid. In the bathroom, the toilet seat was loose and only one partial toilet roll with no new ones to hand.I definitely wouldnt, or wont, recommend this hotel to stay at as a result of my stay.Yes, for one night, it was cheap, and the cheapest accommodation in the area. But, and its a big "but", its cheap for a reason. The hotel, as a whole, is a bit of a mess.Weird smells in the corridors, untidy/dirty/outdated rooms and staff who come across as being not particularly bothered about your problems or complaints about your room.
Booked this Travelodge as overnight stay when returning from holiday in the early hours in the morning. Chosen as close to Birmingham airport, advertised 24 hour reception and free parking. On arrival about 2:45 after ringing the bell, the night porter told us that reception closes at 11 and our booking had been cancelled. He also told us that it is written in the terms and conditions in the small print this is what Travelodge do and there was probably no room. The carpark was pretty empty and after some discussion about how we had been travelling and very tired he sighed and said he would try and re instate the booking but that would take some time. We should have called (quite hard when on a plane). Eventually he handed us keys for room 123 and we went to the room. Walking on to the landings the smell of stale cigarettes was overpowering. It may be historical but could be made better with some industrial carpet cleaner. We entered a dirty disgusting room with a filthy stained carpet. Dirty soap dispenser covered in black marks. A filthy light cord in the bathroom. Only two pillows and just one towel.Too tired to argue any more and went to sleepWe have checked the booking and T & Cs there is nothing about an 11pm cut off point and there is loads of discussion about 24 hour reception. On leaving I handed my keys in where a nice lady (who turned out to be a cleanerasked if all ok and I told her I felt the room and service the previous evening were poor. She said she would get the manager to call. To date this still has not happened. My advice is to avoid this hotel, I am at a loss as to how it managed to get good scores because it really was a horrible stay.I await at least a cursory apology from Travelodge
Is what it is, booked through work. Rooms are standard trsvelodge, but locals....oh my god 🤣Also hotel has holes in it.
As the hotel was clean tidy and the gentleman on reception was very helpful, the service on your admin side was disgusting,as I asked for a vat receipt the one printed off was not,and after saying they would email me a copy I was told to go on line and get myself which I think is disgusting as I booked direct with yourself
Cheap but terribly outdated, toilet stinks, doesnt feel like a a hotel
This travelodge is in a nice spot with tescos a few minutes by car or about 15mins walk. Unfortunately it did fall short of a decent stay. I Was here for a week staying in a number of diffent rooms. Some better then others. Among the few problems of people banging doors all through the night, the overwhelming stench of weed and the ant problem in one of the room it is a travelodge. You get what you pay for. The staff however did their job and the rooms cleaned pretty well. Fans seemed to be available in the rooms I stayed in and before I checked in the cleaning staff did make the effort to keep the room temperature down as well as they could by closing curtains and putting the fan on so this review is purely aimed towards the fact it was a little run down with some guests being more long term inhabitants then passing bookers.
We visit Birmingham now and again and usually stay here as its convenient. The staff are always friendly and very helpful. The rooms are clean but the bathrooms could do with freshening up. There are quite a few shops and eating places close by which is handy.
Its a homeless hostel now dont know if normal people can book in but I wouldnt bother with all the homeless there now.
I only have one word. DISGUSTING. It is my first night here and I am already traumatised. I do not know how I will sleep the night. The minute I entered I couldnt stop scratching my whole body that it feels like my skin is about to peel off. I cannot stop sneezing and there is a very strong odour at the back of my throat that doesnt seem to disappear. The carpet contains VISIBLE c*m stains all over and smells horrendously bad, not to mention the dirt on it. There are spider cub webs all over the wall. There are yellow green stains on the bed that looks like vomit stain. The staff member in the hotel said that they would only be able to clean my room once every 7 days. WHAT A JOKE. Do yourself a favour and do not book here, YOU ARE BETTER OFF SLEEPING ON THE STREETS, I can guarantee you it will be cleaner.
The hotel was run down and dirty. There was a smell of stale air throughout the building, prams being left at the bottom of the stairs and when I got to my room it smelt of cannabis (even after the windows had been left open), had a dirty stained carpet, ripped and damaged chair ..... generally very poor and unkept.Ive stayed in many Travelodge hotels and they are pretty standard but well maintained good value for money ..... this one seemed to be being used for more than just a hotel.
Awful experience, constant noise from long term housing guests. Eventually changed room and they stuck us in a so called family room covered in black mould!
Fab customer service especially Tracy such a sweetheart deserves a raise cant recommend her enough, clean rooms, well friendly staff, enoughparking and a very good experience over all 5 star rating to tracy and 5 star rating to the services!
Clean and tidy. Pleasant reception. Could do with new carpets in the rooms .
Nice and good place main thing is breakfast same breakfast every day make staying difficult 😋
This visit has made me decide not to stay in anymore 3 months earlier I was in maypole in which was better only thing that was good was the hospitality shown by the receptionist. The key what was given didnt even fit the room I was allocated.
Old tired rooms, heating didn’t work, TV didn’t work in any of the rooms. Was told several times someone was coming out today to fix the problem on the roof. Staff were clearly lying about the issue, pleading ignorance or just didn’t care.Either way I’d rather drive a 6 hr round commute each day than stay here again!!
Only stayed one night but was pretty decent for the price. Very clean and good size room and bathroom. Everything worked as it should too. Thank you! I will defo use this travel lodge again if I have any more gigs to go to in the future in this area :)
Very basic could do with modernisation. But achieved the aim good price and good nights sleep, very helpful staff.
The place wasnt the best, carpet a bit old and dirty, lacking extra towels and not it the best area, although fairly cheap rates so not all bad.Pleasant welcoming guy on reception.
We stayed here in August 4th and I was shocked. It never advised that half the place would be home to the homeless, so to bring business in to such a place when I have my family with me staying away was far from idea. We were greeted by a lady with many dogs on the entrance staircase, whom stayed there all day. We witnessed many drug deals though the windows of the rooms and we felt unsafe and the place simply should not have been utilised for business alongside housing these types. What on earth were you thinking? It has put me off your brand for life.
Avoid !!!Very old rooms needs a proper modernisation on order to be in the traveodge standards as it looks more as an old hostel, the bedding extremely uncomfortable, woke up with back pain, water leaking from the shower, no lift, so with heavy luggage its a real pain. The parking is shared with a restaurant so it was quiet noisy.I wouldnt go back their
They messed up with a booking, took us out a disabled access bath and placed us into a family room for their mistake, the room was covered in black mould, will not go back ever!!! Would 0 star if I could
Carpets and ceilings are a bit gross. Car park is disgusting. Streets are loud. Theres also a loud bar opposite the hotel thats open to midnight. But we didnt have our car broken into, so 3-star!
Pretty grim compared to other Travelodges Ive stayed in. The room was large but had some mould, wasnt particularly clean and didnt smell great. Lots of free parking was a plus. Was okay for one night but wouldnt want to have stayed any longer.
GROTTY!This was more a budget hostel than a hotel. Decor from the 1970’s, dirty carpets, lack of towels, useless shower, dirty bathroom, dubious bed linen, no WiFi. Absolutely the worst hotel I’ve stayed in. They employ some kind of signal blocker to entice you to buy data, as my phone was showing 4G and full strength signal but my internet just wouldn’t work. Staff were smoking outside the main entrance. Never again.
The staff were rude and judgemental, the ensuite was dirty, there was no water provided to drink in the rooms. We went in to book they told us we should book online even though we were already there. They refused to amend my booking and they dont have a contact number. Ill never stay in any travelodge hotel again!!! Guys please dont waste your money.
A socket with 2 plugs at the end of a family room is not enough for 3 teens and myself. The rooms are too small for a double and 2 twins. All 4 Pillows were sooo high and hard. Staff were lovely though, can’t fault them and plenty of free parking also.
Absolute belter of a little back straight gym ,very well equipped and friendly atmosphere, if youre ever in Tewkesbury call in and smash a session out 💪i will certainly be calling in again the next time iam in the area.
Got to the travel lodge to find when we got into our room the bed was not made it had dirty bedding on towels on the floor , bins not emptied smelly room. Went to complain and the man gave us another key to a new room. Car park untidy with bottles paper cans etc
Ive been to over 100 Travelodges and i can easily say this is the worst I’ve ever been to. From the local lads hanging about in the car park at night to the temporary residents the council have housed at the hotel, its just a joke . Our Corridor and room stank of cigarette and due to me being asthmatic and couldn’t tolerate it anymore , we had to pick up our sleeping kids and move to another room around 1am ! Top it off , staff used the master key to open our room door at 9AM while we where asleep and startled us awake because they “were unaware” we moved . Asked for a refund and they laughed at us saying “ we accommodated you didn’t we?” Il never go here again , ever! Worst experience I’ve ever had. Id sleep better in the car 🚘. Staff lie to cover up the shamble operation here . Surprised this branch is open, serious change is needed here ! Avoid by all means !
I dont think I can rate it. It was more of hostle then a hotel and i paid hotel prices...it smelt in the corridors..had to ask for towels after checking in and non in the room. The carpet left you with dirty feet and no soap neither to wash ur hands. A worst traveloge Ive stayed at and definitely not returning to this one. The management need to consider a refurbishment. The staff were good and attentive.
BRILLIANT!!!! The moment you walk in the staff were so helpful and curtious. The room was extremely tidy and smelled Very fresh. The bedsheets were crisp and smelt extremely fresh. The bathroom was immaculate and had a wonderful sparkle on every surface. I HIGHLY RECCOMEND COMING HERE!!!! added note, the price is of a good range!!
Great Travelodge with an eatery in the carpark, never had any noise problems even with windows open. Downside the accessible room didnt have a socket by the bed so had to stretch the power cable for oxygen concentrator across the room causing a trip hazard at night.
Family of 5 with an 11 year old who is severely disabled, Got allocated 2 rooms 3 weeks ago when checking in one of the rooms not available for some excuse then got moved upstairs even tho had a disabled child, to move in to a mouldy smelly room, then all weekend no breakfast options. Staff are disgusting the attitude is vile. Chelsea is the only staff that treats you like a human
The price was really good for 1 night stay but the cleanliness of the room left a lot to be desire. As soon as I entered the hotel I immediately smelled musty, which unfortunately got more intense in the hallway. The room had dead flyers on the ceiling, the carpet smelled badly and it was full of dirt stains, the tub was stained with blood that I’d rather not imagine the origin, none of us could take a shower.I was really disappointed. Without doubt worse hotel that I have ever been in life.
Gets the job done, stayed here for 6 nights.Could be a bit more clean, and room 24 has a rather moldy smell as you walked in. Room was clean otherwise. Minus a tiny spider web over my bed. Also they need to have different breakfast boxes for people with allergies, and that needs to to be labeled that they dont have alternative on the website. I had to skip breakfast every day because of the lactose. If they make a effort to clean up, would possibly stay again.
Staff very helpful and friendly and couldnt apologise enough when my son and girlfriend were locked out of their room due to the lock failing. They were offered another room straight away to rest in until a locksmith could get out to it. Also given a full refund for our inconvenience.
Rooms are below average, and with one exception, staff tended to ignore me. The male staff member on duty at my time of departure was borderline ignorant. The location is pretty good for access to the NEC, but I wasnt impressed with either the staff nor the rooms. It does the job, but there are better options.
Ok for a basic stay but the hotel really smells in the hallways and rooms, i have read many reviews observing the same. Carpets very worn. Plenty of car parking and good location on the upside. It would appear to be correct the hotel houses the homeless as other reviews observed. Nothing wrong with that but it may be off putting for some.
Staff friendly. Room basic. Booked a family room, on arrival informed double room booked! When shown the confirmation email advised they had a room with 3 beds which we could have, that to my understanding is what we had booked......a family room. Room had one double bed and two temporary single beds which were very uncomfortable! Mattress springy and hard. Would maybe be ok for a child but not comfortable for an adult to sleep on. Would not purposely book again.
The good thing about this hotel was the location as it is close to many shops and the parking which was free however didnt look so safe. There was a damp smell in the corridor outside my room on ground floor. Also i stayed for 2 nights and they didnt clean my room after the first night. The room was okay but no fan and it was very hot. All in all I would not stay here again.
Comfortable bed, nice clean room and friendly staff. Quiet rooms, couldnt hear outside noise or rooms either side. Perfect for a short stay or for work purposes. Pub/restaurant right next door, and within walking distance to take-aways and other shops. Parking onsite, and near bus stops to get elsewhere. Very good value for money, would highly recommend.
Awful place ..room was dirty, blood on the Duvets and old lumpy beds. This travel lodge is being used to house homeless and is more like a hostel. woke up to shouting and arguing in the corridor we did not feel safe here at all. Staff are very lovely and friendly the only positive to this place, left with full refund.
Place was incredibly clean; They took good care of the room. The shower was clean. The toilet was clean. Everything about this was smashing. I wish I could live here and looking back at the picture of this place I quietly sulked to myself wishing I was there and not back in bore-town UK.
This is a functional mid range hotel. Staff are friendly, rooms are functional. They work. There are some odd little things, missing light bulb in one of the lamps and they dont have the correct light bulbs to be able to replace them. One morning no towel in the room so had to go ask at 7 am so I could have a shower. The staff friendliness keeps this a 3/5 as they tried - but this is def a 3 and not a 4 star. Functional, it works, no frills stay.
The room itself was very spacious and clean the problem was with a few of the guests running around the corridor at 2am and 3.30am shouting very loudly and having no consideration for others apart from that everything else was fine. Also there is no hot chocolate sachets in the rooms.
Right by several supermarkets so perfect for going out and grabbing a snack, came with a double bed with 2 spare beds. There was a section of the floor that creaked loudly when stepped on. The bathroom door had no lock on it unfortunately. The service was excellent and the staff were invredibly helpful.
