Travel Maker - American restaurant in Seoul, South Korea
This is a fun place to visit if youre missing or interested in an "all american" breakfast. I like the grilled cheese and tomato soup.
The first restaurant we visited after a long flight and it was recommended by a friend. We’re happy to share that we loved it and have had a very cozy feeling while eating breakfast/lunch. A good recommendation especially if you feel like eating American style food!
The food was delicious. There was a bit of a long wait time and if you do not have a Korean phone number you cannot log in for a wait time. You have to go upstairs and be written in on a wait time. But the service and food were good. There is plenty to do around the area while you wait to be called.
Recommend not to come here unless you are willing to wait at least 30mins.Not suitable for families or big groups. There is a steep flight of stairs to go up to the restaurant and my kid fell and cut his knee.Terrible queue management system. After entering the restaurant, we were told to go downstairs to register ourselves on waiting list and wait there. There was a big table available but the staff followed the waiting list blindly and gave the table to a couple instead of the next big group in line which was us. Left after waiting for 15min downstairs. Kids were getting restless and there was nothing to do around there. Plus even if there was a table available we wont be able to fit as they have given the big table to the couple. Disappointing experience.
Good food, quick service, nice atmosphere.. perfect for a American style brunch! Free filter coffee refills 👍👍👍
Great! Especially when youre missing a nice American breakfast. But be prepared to wait a bit!
We ordered: two eggs with hash brown + bacon as well as a “jumbo” breakfast burrito.no frills and simple items. The burrito was good but small and not filling. I think I was just happy to eat some tapatio and salsa.I was excited to see that you can actually ask for the kind of egg you want instead of just scrambledThis review might be a bit biased bc we were super hungry. The lemon tea was kinda watery and the Jasmine tea was just normal. The diner is quite small but they do have bar seating for those who come alone! The price wasn’t too expensive and I left with a half filled stomach.
Loved this place for years. Slightly more expensive than it used to be, but the food is always good:)
Good American breakfast with quite good value. Would come back again.
Waffle was very good. American style. Quite busy since in the morning. Open pretty early
This place was good! Decent price, good location, and classic American breakfast joint. We ate here 2 mornings!
Decent American food with quick service
Cozy all day ABF spot on the 2nd floor. It can get pretty busy on weekends.
Great place for breakfast/late breakfast. Definitely worth a visit if you’re a tourist here. They also play great ambiance music.
The food was mediocre and the presentation reflected that. The menu is expensive for what you get. I got the large burrito and it was disappointing. It was mostly scrambled eggs with a tiny amount of protein. We waited 20 minutes to get a table but the food came out pretty quickly. I wouldnt go back tho.
Solid, American-style brunch food. Quick service. All big plates with limited a la carte options.
Theres a lot of delicious looking American breakfast items here... I love breakfast burritos, though, so that was my choice! I got the "jumbo" breakfast burrito, which contained eggs, cheese, bacon, sausage, and hash browns. It was really great. It also wasnt super massive, so I didnt feel insanely full after.Great food, great service, and not crazy expensive. ☺️👍👍👍
Was craving pancakes and this hit the spot! Actually tastes like Maccas hotcakes (minus the whipped butter)! Food was surprisingly on the cheap side. We paid 5000W ($5.5AUDfor the stack of pancakes and the breakfast burrito was 7500W ($8.5AUD). The burrito was a bit plain, although there’s salsa on the side. A really cute fit out, but the cafe itself it quite small and limited seating so I would come during off peak time.
Food was made fresh and tasted decent. If you want some American breakfast in Korea you can consider this spot.
One of the cheaper places for Western-style breakfast in Seoul, and to get what you pay for. Dont expect any fresh fruit or inhouse specialties. Its very low-grade diner food. But if you just want some scrambled eggs and hash browns, it does the job.
It was amazing as usual!! My breakfast came out quick and delicious!!
Nice staff. Great menu. Good portions. If you are looking for American-styled breakfast, look no further. AND they open at 8am!
First time eating an "American Brunch/Breakfast" but hey, this place is so tasty wt..? Highly recommend you to go once at least try for yourselves !
If youre looking for a place that serves American breakfast, this is the place. The pancakes are very filling and the prices are good! This is my to go to place for whenever Im craving an American style breakfast.
Breakfast in South Korea is tricky for me. This place is good. The scrambled eggs were just right and the hash browns were delicious.
This restaurant opens at 8 a.m.They provide such an american breakfast all time when they open. Its atmosphere is so exotic, also foods, as Im Korean.
Great food at an affordable price, I definitely recommend coming if you are in the Hongdae area!!!
Its a good place to go when you just need an American breakfast/brunch. Its affordable but cant be a bit pricey. Dont get the orange juice!
So amazing!! Fair prices. Get the breakfast burrito!! 20,000₩ for two people. Will definitely return
It was typical American breakfast food (or at least what I assume was typical since its the kind of stuff that every single TV show set in the states seems to say), except for a few dessert waffle combinations apparently. That said the waffle I ate was really good, and if youre looking for your western styled breakfast food, Travel Maker is a good place to be.
Expected much better service.Burrito was still cold when it came out.Surprisingly not the first occasion when coming here.Only pro here is they open early.Rather visit somewhere else a little bit later though.
Want a taste of America breakfast for a reasonable price? This is your diner. It has all the vibes and flavors. From pancakes/waffles/and French toast to grill cheese and tomato soup.
It was ok for me and I really wanted to try this place out when I came back up to Seoul. Definitely has the US mom-pop vibe with the Denny’s kind of food. If you like a Denny’s or iHop kind of breakfast and miss it, go ahead and make the stop. I don’t want to go too harsh on the view. It was just meh for me. English friendly. English menu with photos.
Feels like a typical diner in America which is great to have if you miss that here in Korea. They have American style sausages too.
Nice ambiance, friendly staff, food is good and quite authentic American classic breakfast. The burrito breakfast was delicious, recommended. The sausage patties also very good as well as the grilled cheese.
This is a really nice all-day breakfast and lunch restaurant. Similar to the kind of food one might find at an IHOP in America. Nice atmosphere, great menu selections, and right off the main street in Hongdae, along the park area, just outside exit 3 of the station. Recently, in the past few years they moved a few buildings down from their original spot, but it is still easy to find. Bigger now on the inside, and quite a cozy place to grab a bite to eat. Go check it out, and see for yourselves!
Dropped by this American diner on the last day on our trip. We wanted to try something different besides Korean food and we definitely made the right choice. We ordered the sets and everything was delicious and amazing. I especially loved the pancakes, paired with the maple syrup it was the best.Portions are huge by Asian standards, so you can definitely order to share. Totally recommend this place for a change.
Good spot, very American in portions and presentation..had a beer for breakfast (yeah, yeah..I did thatand it was very bitter. Would have been fine, if it wasnt supposed to be a Stella. Service can be a bit rough around the edges, a bit flat and not very friendly. But...meh, you come for the waffles. It tastes exactly like Dennys, and thats just fine by me 😉
American breakfast (and one lunch item- grilled cheese and tomato soupavailable here. I’ve been a couple of times now, and the food is great! Definitely reminds me of home. The staff is very kind as well.
Cozy, medium sized American diner in a nice location. Friendly English speaking staff and well made American staples like eggs with sausage or bacon, hash browns, waffles and pancakes.
All day American Breakfast food. Cant go wrong with that. Very good prices and it actually tastes authentic! Highly recommend.
Not a fancy looking place, just your average American diner with great food. Its pretty small and is quite busy, so waiting time to get a seat could be a while.Good for groups and solo. Great waffles. Not too expensive too.
Nice fluffy pancakes to start off our 5th day in Seoul! Kinda missing original tasting American breakfast so we had our cravings satisfied at Travel Maker just opposite our Airbnb! Amazing breakfast, portion is really generous. Highly recommended!
This was my second time and gosh, it feels like home. I love the thick french toast, oily hash brown, Portuguese sausage and bacon with OJ. Travel Maker, you complete me. >< Will post the menu and pics next time.
Go if you are in the area. Dont go out of your way. French toast combo came recommended. Was good, but expensive for a meal that did not include a drink. Complimentary water was ice cold and refreshing. Had to pay extra for all bacon, bc I didnt want the the 2 sausage links. Seat yourself. A lot of seating for groups, couples and solo. Very hot when crowded. Although there is a ceiling fan it was not on despite being 91 degrees outside, which you could feel every time new diners walked in.
So after traveling Asia for many months I finally broke down and had to have a traditional American breakfast. I’m a little embarrassed that I ate here 5 times but the amount of food you get is a great deal and will satisfy any cravings of home cooking you’re having. Everyone seems to love this place because it’s filled with tons of Koreans as well as westerns. Get the waffle and eggs combo and thank me later.
Amazing breakfast food even compared to placed I have been in America. I loved their waffles and the fresh made blueberry compote. Best place for breakfast in Korea!
Travel Maker should be a 3.5 STAR review. If you have a craving for an American breakfast, this is your place (common review). It was good and cooked correctly, simply put. Crispy hash browns, perfectly pressed and crunchy bacon, "Brown & Serve" sausage (you know what I meanand pancakes with body and an overly sweet syrup (no maple Grade A here). If you need a fix, please come here and youll be set for another week. Many tourists come but I see a lot of locals who dont want rice for a meal. :OR just come for pancakes or waffles for dessert. They are open late. Remember, walk up to the counter and order, then take a seat after you place an order. I come here at least once a visit to Seoul...
Great small American breakfast place. The cashier speaks and understands English! Prices are average ( it too expensive, 6-12 thousand won)
Good breakfast. Good cleanliness for Asian standards. French toast was okay... not good, not bad. No complaints but looks a little grimy
