Trattoria da Ruggero - Tuscan restaurant in Florence, Italy
Wonderful small trattoria. We didnt have a reservation but got a table under the condition to be finished in 1.5 hours. The hosts were very friendly and helpful with the translation of the menu. The food was fantastic and delivered pretty fast. The desserts are a musst have!
Very good traditional trattoria. The service was very friendly. Starters and sides were excellent, and the tortellini with ragu and the tagliatelle with mushrooms were amazing! Skip the deserts. It is well worth to walk the extra bit outside the city wall for this trattoria!
Authentic Tuscan food, big portions.
Excellent food and service. A must-go back in Firenze!
Great local place for food. We had the Florentine steak and some pasta. All was very good.
My expectations were high as I’d heard so many good things about Ruggero and I’d been wanting to go for so long… but I was pretty disappointed. Although the actual restaurant itself is very nice and welcoming, the service was a bit indifferent and so the atmosphere wasn’t cold, but I definitely wouldn’t describe it as friendly. When we asked how the puntarelli were served, for example, the waitress pointed behind the glass counter (where they couldn’t be seen from where we were seatedand said, ‘at room temp.’ She didn’t mention that there were pieces of anchovies mixed in, and if I had known, I wouldn’t have ordered them! The antipasto, however, is quality, especially the prosciutto crudo. All very fresh and delicious. But it was followed by my pasta which was beyond al dente with some parts of it actually crunching like it would straight out of the bag. The blueberry cheesecake is incredibly awesome - so definitely fill up on dessert if the other dishes let you down!
Sorry to say that, although the food was good, the service was not as nice as I had heard it could be. I came here with high hopes of an authentic and friendly Italian restaurant. In the three months I have lived in Florence, this is the first time I have ever felt unwelcomed.
Food was good and fast
Excelent local food at pa affordable prices.
Delicious food and excellent service 😍
Good food ang cozy ambience. Locals come to the place.
Perfect trattoria experience.
Delish food with small traditional menu! Not expensive at all and friendly staff
Excellent food for a reasonable price. This place is not on the typical tourist path, so the food and crowds are typically local, native and diverse - families and friends. We were the only obvious tourists. We ordered only what we wanted and it was the perfect size to fill us us. ( no "soup-to-nuts" which is what the waiters want you to order. Freshest ingredients, We watched the cooks cut our 2" thick beef steak and fire grilled it to perfection. Their TUSCAN steaks were 2+" thick and usually ordered rare. Gnocchi, pasta, veal were all excellent and to die for. See what the locals order. Ill have what she has.Im told this is a 200+ year old restaurant run by same family. 200 years of selling good food. This was the quintessential Italian experience - full of locals, historic surroundings and great FOOD! GET AWAY from the tourist junks. Just a nice walk South of the Arno River. Non-descriptive outside, but so much charm and character inside. Enjoy.
By far the best Tuscan restaurant in the city
A fantastic place with delicious food and atmosphere. Highly recommend
the best pasta and pork chop i’ve ever had!!!Especially for the pasta try tomato pasta it’s amazing I will definitely come back here again even if it is far from the city
Enjoyed the first meal so much, I booked two subsequent evenings. This trattoria is not large so reservations are a must. Service was great and some items on the menu change nightly. This was a close walk from my hotel and has a bus stop in both directions within 100 feet. This is worth seeking out if you are in the neighborhood. I have not worked through the menu but other dishes at nearby tables looked great.
Excellent food, good prices, went here multiple times during our stay in Florence. Our waiter befriended our toddler and had excellent recommendations that did not disappoint, the food was all delicious.
Best porkchop weve ever had. Would serve it for Thanksgiving dinner instead of turkey. Moist, tender, full of salty, rosemary flavor. House recommended pasta was excellent, simple and perfectly prepared, as were the mushrooms and green beans ordered by our vegetarian, gluten free son. Service was accommodating and excellent. Highly recommend for a quintessential, authentic meal.
Very nice place, friendly staff and great food.
Great food and service! Especially enjoyed our friendly and helpful waiter who was fluent in 5 languages!
Food is good, tiramisu excellent, as Buffalo mozzarella too. Service was nice, fast and effective. Prices reasonable.
Best did we have had in Italy!
This is a pretty awesome local restaurant on Via Senese. Went there the first time had the pork chop which was amazing, also had a bottle of Roger Chianti Classico very reasonably priced and goes down like mothers milk. While there we observed a few tables having the Bistecca Florentine, and then returned the next day. We did not have a booking which was not smart for a Sunday night. They accommodated us and made our last night in Florence special. Now to the Bistecca... it was glorious. I eat a lot of steak in many parts of the world and this was right there with the best of them. This is truly a must visit in Florence especially because its not in the heart of the tourist zone.
Super traditional local spot with face-melting caprese and homely pastas
Excellent traditional Florence cuisine
The food here is delicious!! Youll find mostly locals here, but Id still recommend a reservation. We arrived late and they still seated us And let us stay about an hour after closing. I had the steak and potatoes and mixed veggies and the house wine. Our waiter basically recommended everything we ate and was really friendly and the right amount of attentive.
Very nicely cooked traditional Tuscanys cuisine in a warm ambiance near Porta Romana in Florence
The neighbourhood restaurant youd move houses for to have as your local!Fantastic food, service, atmosphere and reasonably priced.
The food was good, but pricing of side dishes is ridiculous. We payed 7 euro for a small plate of plain cooked beans and 6 euro for some potatoes.
Delicious and very nice people
Lovely experience, and the food was outstanding!
One of Florence top restaurants, no more to add!
Possibly the best meal we ate in Italy. We started with crostino toscano, toast topped with chopped chicken liver. Primo was tagliolini ai funghi porcini -- tender noodles, savory mushrooms. Secondo was roast beef -- tender and juicy. For dessert we had the apple cake -- excellent, but should have been served with cream on the side. The nicest part of the meal is that when the two of us ordered one antipasto, one primo and one secondo to share, they brought them out in sequence, split in two already. Every other restaurant brought out the primo and secondo together, so sharing was up to us. It was nice to experience the leisurely 3-course meal with our piddly 1+ course appetites.
Opened a few minutes early to accommodate us. Served excellent food with good service. Its out-of-the-way location and proximity to a parking garage also made parking a breeze. Would recommend
Freindly attentive staff happy to explain menu good food
Delicious, very friendly personel, nice ambiente
Nice little local place to eat, with typically Tuscan, delicious main courses and friendly staff! Making a reservation is recommended.
Clearly there’re tables. Told me it was full – I don’t think so. Didn’t suggest waiting time either. Probably because I’m solo, well.
Great food, moderate prices, authentic florentine cuisine
Delicious food - lovely place! A must in florence!
Unfortunately never ate here as the place was fully booked.
Good food, great service and very obnoxiously bright lighting creating little ambiance! I will not return because of the lighting. I wore my sunglasses while there and it is their policy to have bright lighting so customers do not linger. They must do at least two services a night.I would classify this joint as a tourist trap or a place for locals with no taste! Ciao!
Came across this place through a local reccomandation. Small restaurant with a short menu but the food, atmosphere were very good. Highlights were the pastas, we also ordered the pork chop which was a tad overcooked but none the less very good. Fairly priced as well with the bill being 60£ for a starter , 2 pastas, a meat dish and a bottle of vine .
Bad and rude service. Weve just dropped into this restaurant and wanted to have a cap of coffee. When hearing that, the waiter said that service at the moment was not available despite the availability of the free places. This cheating at the face is a bit humiliating. Never back to this place.
Wonderfully cooked proper Italian food, very friendly helpful staff. Id recommend the spicy spaghetti (a house specialty)
Great traditional food! Only a (very very minorissue: its quite small. Reservation absolutely required
Very nice restaurant. Excellent Tuscan food. A mix of authentic and creative chef dishes. The service was very friendly and professional. The place was full with guests many of whom were local. Highly recommended.
Great authentic italian food and fab service. Booking essential. Recommended.
