Trattoria da Rocco - Diner in Florence, Italy
Awful food and worse service. Really rude waiter. All Italians eating here, so thought it would be good. Meatballs were cold and tasted of flour.
Great lunch spot in the middle of the market. Its very hectic but the staff were nice and the food was delicious, simple and down to earth. The roast beef was fantastic and we loved the tripe and intestines. The roast tomatoes were so rich in flavour we scooped it all up with our bread. Please like my review of it or the photos helped 🙂🙂
An experience not to be missed! You sit down and spend the next hour having dish after dish placed in front of you with not a choice in the matter. The proprietor is a regular comedian. If you order a glass of wine you will have a large bottle places on your table and told to “relax” at the end he eyes the bottle and charges you a fair price for what you approximately drunk - wild.
Love this place. Local worker food- the potatoes and peppers are out of this world and you can never go wrong with their roast beef. Rocco is so sassy and so fun and his son Paulo is hilarious. Really love it- it’s a must if you’re in the neighborhood or tired of traditional pastas.
Great food and service. Simple and to the point.
Perfect place with unique atmosphere. Nice food and great wine.
Best place in Firenze. The food was AMAZING and the people is extremely kind. Great attention and prices. I looooved it!!!! ♥️
Great spot inside of the market, super friendly owner, reasonably priced and a good quality food. Busy, but everthing is well organized.
Great wee place. 10/10 atmosphere. Roccos a legend.
It was really busy and cramped, but it was top notch lasagna. Will go again.
While the location is nice and the owner is good fun, the food is nothing special (bordering on bland for Italian standards). Additionally, I understand the need to clear tables to be able to clear the queue of customers, there are many different ways to do it that do not involve rolling your eyes at paying customers, rushing them away from the table and being just generally rude. Extremely rude. I dont recommend, and this happens to me rarely!
Colorful place for lunchtime. Quickly served, tasty, affordable, friendly personnel.
Amazing typical Tuscan food at reasonable Prices; nice busy atmosphere; locals and tourists enjoy together their lunch
Rocco!!!! What a star and what a place. We visited the market which is brilliant, so alive and full of incredible produce and local products and decided to try this trattoria. Its situated in the indoor part of the market and its fantastic. Rocco - the owner - is a gem. Full of life, fun and super professional. Hes owned the business for 33 yrs and now his son and granddaughter work with him along with a great team. The food is fab, the vibe is amazing and were going back very soon. Totally recommended.
Great place to have lunch, typical and excellent food, simple and practical. Highly suggested (peposo was a fantastic dish)
Rocco rocks! This is the place to go for authentic Florentine fare served fast and cheap by an enthusiastic staff. Only open at lunch and often crowded so get there early and say hello to Rocco.
Sweet elderly boss who was really kind even though we didnt understand each other. Meatballs were good
We absolutely love this place and the concept of it. It’s great stopping by if you are wondering around San amborgio market and get a need for home style cooking. Of course it’s cramped and you have barely got any space to eat , of course it’s not fancy and elegant, of course the food is not made to order but more like canteen style table service. But overall it’s really cheap and the food tastes so good. Even the desserts are damn simple but fresh and done properly.
We come here on Saturdays for lunch, and we often have to wait five minutes or so because this place is so good and so cheap that it’s always packed to max capacity. It’s inside the market of Sant Ambrogio, and you will share a table for a rather tight and friendly squeeze. It’s never been awkward, it’s a fun time, and the ‘home-cooking’ is just traditional, delicious, can’t-go-wrong Tuscan food. Order a first, a second, a dessert, and enjoy the translations in the multi-language menu. You might have to order your coffee twice, as the atmosphere is pretty chaotic, but it’s so worth eating here!
Great food. Prices are low. Very busy but worth it !
The chickpea pasta here is SO GOOD! And prices are great - 5E a bowl. Can get busy on weekends but they do takeaway.
Great find off the beaten path. Ill dream about the pesto lasagna. The tomato bread soup (more like a salsawas also memorable.
Great for a quick informal lunch at the market. Its very good value for money and the pricing is very reasonable. Note - it can get busy!
came here cause of the great reviews. Not impressed with this place. We wanted to sit down but the lady at the front didn’t speak any English and couldn’t understand. We kept saying we wanted to be seated instead of takeout but Instead we got our food and was told to sit on the bar stools at the side instead of the restaurant.
Roaming around the market and looking at all those good product, you might feel slightly hungry. If you’re looking for an authentic Italian experience to grab a bite, this place is right up your alley.I ordered the meat filled zucchini, my partner got the melanzane alla parmigiana. Both were delicious, not plentiful though, but that’s exactly what we were looking for.Our waiter, a happy older man, was really nice and helpful.Finished with a nice espresso. The whole meal wasn’t expensive at all, the service was fast, the food was tasty. In a word : great.
Super great food, super service, great family run place inside the market of S.Ambrosio. we love Rocco❤️
Delicious, well-priced, efficient and friendly service. Try the lasagne, it’s amazing.
If you stay in Florence, this place should be visited for delicious food and for its unique atmosphere. Rocco is a phenomenon...
Amazing food. I love the beef tongue the most
With a group of 7 the service was still very fast and the food was amazing. Not to be dramatic but I’d die for Rocco.
Small and amazing place into Santa Verdianas Market.Typical Tuscany kitchen, genuine ingredients and kindness creates the perfect mix for a good experience. The staff is professional and fast, the service is good and the menú is quite satisfying, good local wine and delicious desserts. Not expensive at all.
Amazing place. In middle of a street market. Very homey food. Very casual. You could be sharing table with different people but overall feel is like you are at your grandmas for lunch. Great value for money.
Excellent food, wonderful atmosphere, big tables where you cant help but meet people.
Perfect trattoria in Florence with delicious Tuscany food
A little bit caotic, we have to share our table with another couple but if youre around the area as tourist, this is a good place to eat fast, cheap and delicious.
How sad this transitional place Ive been here for years now become a place "confuse" tourists for making more money! Shame to bring my friends there and I wont go and trust it again!
Hidden gem! Stumbled upon this lovely restaurant inside the market, we waited an hour till opening time 1200 pm and it’s definitely worth while the wait. Delicious lasagna, roast beef & chicken, mashed potato, caramel cake, & wanted to order fried meat balls but too full already. The staff & owners are very kind and interactive. The grandpa is a very nice gentleman! The food taste is very authentic and price is fairly priced!
Wonderfully friendly staff, and the most delicious food I had in Florence! (And the cheapest wine!)
A pure delight. Comfort food with lovely company. A place to make new friends from Florence and other worldly places. Meeting Rocco is a highlight. And of course the large round bottles of Chianti delieved to the table.
Local place means local prices and great food. The servings are shareable so you can grab 3 or 4 plates and be absolutely stuffed. Definitely go.
Great meal in a local atmosphere. Enjoyed our meal so much. Good value.
Very tasty and busy place.
The Top restaurant in Florence
Good, home style food. We are vegetarian. I had piselli e spinaci. e cocomero (watermelon). Moglie had zuppa faggiole/pasta e spinaci. Generous servings for small prices. In the middle of the SantAmbrogio public covered market that is surrounded by stalls selling all kinds of produce, used clothing, etc.
Great and cheap food. Is inside the public market. Each table is accessed by an individual door and the staff is in the middle ofvthe saloon. Very interesting!
Amazing restaurant! We had so many meat dishes and spaghetti dishes to eat for a very cheap price! They were all super delicious! Recommended for anyone!
We had a delightful meal at a table where the wait staff were all very friendly. Not speaking Italian was not a problem. The food was superb with excellent prices.
Great place in the market. Fast, friendly, simple and tasty menu. When you are around, take a lunch here! Lively surrounding with busy locals.
The owner is a super-friendly person who really cares about the customer. Food is great (generous portionsand the atmosphere is awesome.
Excellent place for a quick meal. Frequented by local vendors, it is the place to go for excellent Florentine cuisine at very reasonable prices.
