Trattoria Sabatino - Tuscan restaurant in Florence, Italy
Great food and great atmosphere! Word of advice, come at least 15 min before they open so you can be among the first customers.
Incredible value, charming neighbourhood trattoria. Roast beef and potatoes and the panzanella were our favourite dishes. No fuss just great food and wine.
Fantastic family run restaurant that nourishes the body and soul. Dishes are staples done to perfection.
It is a great home cooked food. Do not expect some fancy dishes or really high end food. But expect simple meal, family service, and homey local feeling :reccomend this as a great local experience and nice dinner!
This is most try Local Florence restaurant. Always busy and has line but definitely worth it . Great food but low price
Absolutely amazing. We went there on our third night in florence and had been to another trattoria the night before - this was miles ahead. The food is of the highest quality, service polite and quick, prices beyond fair. We shared 5 main courses, had a side dish, 1/2 of wine, 1L of water and two espressi and paid 45€ - everything tasted absolutely fantastic. I would recommend this place to absolutely anyone!
Really good place to try authentic and traditional Tuscan food. Go with patience and time as you cant hook a table beforehand.
A really wonderful experience that you should definitely partake in.A family run tradition place, full of locals. No reservations, it opens at 1915, we were there 5 mins early. When we left there was a queue. The plates are all small and vey reasonably priced. We ate 4 courses with drinks for about €60. The waiters translated the menu for us and were very helpful, patient and had a good sense of humour. The good was traditional and flavourful, simple but not plain. Very fast from the kitchen and tasted fresh and light.
So delicious! The most authentic restaurant experience one can have in Florence. My partner and I must have been the only foreigners in the restaurant. Felt like we were enjoying home made food made by an Italian grandma. 🍝 Very nice staff and super quick service.
A local Trattoria. Brilliant food. Worth going there to watch Nonna keep her boys on their toes. Closed weekends.
Beautiful restaurant, quick service, free bread, say no more. Incredible value too — we got a prosciutto starter, two primi, two secondi, one side and a litre of wine and the bill came to under 40 euro. The pasta was very tasty but the undoubted star was the rosbif and potatoes — I don’t know what they’re doing with them and I wish I knew enough Italian to have been able to ask, but yeah, these may be the best potatoes I have ever consumed. We need their secret
Great trattoria - very good and tasty traditional food, at extremely cheap prices. Don’t expect fine dining at a slow pace, this is almost like a cantina (in a good way). The pasta and sides were best!
Great local finding across the Arno. Everyone is very nice despite being the only foreigner (they try to speak in English, etc). Nice, homemade food for less than 20 $ pp (antipasto, 1st course, 2nd, dessert, bread, drink).
Loved our meal in Sabatino. If you want a really rustic and authentic experience, I highly recommend. The staff were friendly and helpful also 😊
Unfortunately, I had a very bad experience here, although I went there with such great expectations as it was recommended by the guy from our acommodation and also the reviews are great. It is the first time I gave a bad review to a place. Neither me or my girlfriend are pretentious at all but it the first time we received our food literally cold. I went on their recommendation for some beaf and it was cold, after waited for like half an hour to order it. Don t get me wrong, we can wait as long as necessary but at least to get the food as it should be, not cold. Considering what I saw in the restaurant, lots of people very satisfied with their meal, it might have been just an accident for us, but still, I have to mention this experience so it doesnt get repetead with other guests. Btw, prices are very good, atmosphere is great, but not sure if I will give it another chance. This review is given minutes after we left the restsurants btw, so its quite fresh.
Great home cooking. Long line but we only had to wait 15 minutes. Inexpensive and delicious!
As we said leaving: That was amazing. That was perfect. That was 30 euros..? That was the antipode of tourism. The food was rough and ready, the tables were cramped, it was jammed, as somebody said on the way in it was the last bulwark against the expensive tourist virus.
You can’t miss this!!!! Food was one of the best meals I’ve had in Italy. Great atmosphere with laughter and smiles all round. VERY CHEAP and GREAT SERVICE. This is not high end dining so people with high end expectations should not hold any comparison as it is a family orientated restaurant that aims to feed and satisfy customers efficiently. Also, the desserts are a must (coming from a non-dessert person!!!
Worst restaurant that we tried in Italy. Furthermore, the worst food I’ve had in my life. The “meat” compared to cat food, a lot of the items in our food we found out later on were actually expired. It felt like jail cell cafeteria food. I feel like that might be better than this place. Avoid it at all costs! God bless
This was by far one of the worst meals I have ever eaten. It was like old cafeteria food leftovers. It is cheap for a reason! I went with a group and we tried a handful of menu items and they were grotesque at best. Also the meat and cheeses were expired that they served us.
We wait in line and got in around 9 pm. Closing time is 10 pm, but we figure that if they give us a menu, it will reflect if somethings out. They bring us a bottle of water as soon as we seat and ... thats it for the next 30 minutes. We see people come in, order, eat and someone even leave. Nothing. I finally managed to get a hold of one of the waiters, who told me another one will come by and take our order. After a few more minutes he comes and I started listing my order. Literally everything was already not being offered anymore, and they were left with only very basic tomato sauce pastas, and a couple of entrees. They didnt even apologize for the delay. We up and left. Ateat they did not charge us for coperto, water and bread.Terrie experience. Stay away.
Lovely place for a quick cheap eat. Fast service and traditional dishes. Enjoyed the difference in menu to cafes in the centre
Lovely little family restaurant, like eating in someone’s house! It filled up quickly so get here early. Not many veggie options and no meat free mains but they do have pasta options and sides without meat. I enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere and trying something different to pizza and pasta
Amazing home made food at honest prices. The service was great and the flavors were just heart warming. A must try in Florence
I was in Florence for four days, and Trattoria Sabatino is my favorite restaurant from my time there. We tried the fagioli bianchi lessi (tuscan white beans with olive oil and salt), tortelli di patate al sugo (tortelli filled with potato, topped with meat sauce), tagliatelle al pomodoro (tagliatelle pasta with tomato sauce), finocchi crudi conditi (raw fennel with olive oil and salt), minestrone di passato con pasta (soup with bean base and pasta), gorgonzola, patate arrosto (roasted potatoes), almond cake, ricotta cake, and strawberries in syrup. We drank the house red wine, which was a dry local varietal. We left stuffed and incredibly satisfied with the food, the atmosphere, the service, the wine, and the prices, and even picked up two bottles of their olive oil on the way out.It is not often for me to find a restaurant where I can order whatever I please with no concern for the cost. Trattoria Sabatino is the rare place near the historic center of Florence that combines incredible prices, a full-service trattoria experience, and delicious food. Check it out if you want to eat where the locals eat, in historic but unpretentious environs.
Having been here two months, this is only the second true Florentine locals place we have found. No other non-Italians there despite it being packed. Great food. Everything was delicious. Seriously cheap. With two primi piatti, a half liter of the house red, two desserts and a cappuccino, the total bill with minor coperto was 37 euros. Cant wait to go back.
Excellent homestyle cooking with friendly service (they were more than happy to introduce the menu to us in english), great prices. It was so good, we came at least once a week during our time in Florence. Menu changes daily so you can always try something new.
My favorite restaurant in Florence. Menu changes every day and even during the meal. Affordable and delicious, full of Italians and people just grabbing lunch or dinner on their own (or with their dog). You get seated at shared tables usually, which I loved.
A nice local restaurant. Good sized portion food for the price. Friendly people. Come early for good seats, worth the visit!
The service was absolutely fine when we went and the dishes were unbelievable! Apparently it was one of the last places Anthony Bourdain dined in for his TV shows before his death. Dont expect fine dining... Just great home cooked food
Absolutely delicious, simple food that tastes very homemade. Highly recommended. There was a short line to get a table so would be wise to come at opening time. No English menu but you can point at photos you see on Google Maps and ask for it. Pay for your meal at the front, no need to ask for the bill.
Real legit Italian restaurant that offer legit Italian food, a family seeing and a reasonable price!!! Surprisingly they have Florence made skin care product in the store that you can pay a little to try it.
By far the best tagliatelle sugo i have ever had. Very authentic!! Highly recommend. Family run restaurant and a must try in Florence .
Its not easy to find restaurants with reasonable prices nearby Florences centre, but this one is and serves good food. It seemed to be a place where people who work at the surroundings go for lunch, thus no tourist driven
Traditional and authentic trattoria. Would highly recommend. You can have a plate of pasta here for 4 euros. We had panzanella, ravioli, and penne. All very tasty.
If you want a traditional experience and hate tourist traps, you gotta eat at Trattoria Sabatino. A truly traditional place where simplicity is key and quality is high. The food was authentic and really delicious (my dad is an amateur Italian chef so Im confident my judgement is solid). Lovely staff, modest location, great vibes and lots of smiling people. We had the pizzimonio vegetables, pici (pastawith Ragu sauce, braciola alla Livornese, roasted potatoes and ricotta cake, plus red wine, beer and water for less than €30! I wouldve paid €60 for the taste.
Delicious good food, very local food. The portion is slightly smaller but the prices are very cheap! So it is definitely good value. I dont know why people were complaining in previous reviews about portion sizes. We had roast beef and potatoes, very tender. And ravioli with potato filling and spaghetti ragout.
The food was amazing with cheap prices, but i feel like the portion was a bit too small.. The staff weren’t very friendly, and we had to share tables with another couple, it doesn’t bother us but we would’ve preferred a seperate table. But overall, the food tasted good, and i think for the price it was an okay dinner.
We walked in right when it opened and it was already buzzing. Pretty sure we were one of three tourists that were there which was a great sign. No English menu but one of the hosts helped us with the menu. The pasta dishes were great. The vibe was awesome. It felt like a family run restaurant and it gave us such a great feeling on our last so in Firenze. Do not order the rice soup and fried meatballs. Rice soup was basically rice in salty broth and fried meatballs were not good. Just some tips for you so you can about my mistakes. This is a must go. They only take reservations fine people and up.
This place was highly recommended by a local. Its on the south side of the river, further away from the tourist traps. We probably werent the only ones from out of town, but there wasnt too many of us. Family run, family style restaurant. If youre only 2 or 3, chances are youll get seated with other people. Full menu of appetizers, primos and secondi, at crazily low prices. You could have a plate of pasta, a main course and a glass of house wine and pay around 10-12 euros. We decided to try the famous Florentine steak. At 39 Euros per kilo, Ive seen places at double this price. And the meat was fabulous. Our sides were also great, we got a second helping of the potatoes. I really liked this place, it felt very authentic, it was delicious and it was affordable.
Affordable price, authentic, simple Tuscany food. If you dont speak their language, dont fret. The guy waiter did an awesome of of literary translating the whole menu to us in English.. Just a challenge to remember all of them once hes done. Go early to avoid a crowd or make reservations.
I think probably this is one of the best food weve had in Tuscany. Simple, hearty and affordable. For someone who doesnt really like ravioli, these were scrumptious! Whats more, i think it is a family restaurant so the service was hearty as well.
A very good place favored by the locals. It was highly recommended by a local we met and other friends who previously visited. Its tucked away in a corner but worth the investigation. Pastas were fresh made and very tasty. Apparently its a great example of the local, non tourist dining. I highly recommend you visit it as well. Coffee is great too
Visited with my wife and mother in law over evening. The atmosphere is cozy and family oriented. The food is delicious and fresh. The restaurant is family owned and operated and they were all please to deal with.
Great staff and awesome food! Unlike many other restaurants in Florence, this is my favourite! Authentic and localised food. If you are looking for local delights, this is the place!
We really enjoyed this restaurant. The pasta was simple, good, and cheap! We came here for lunch and each ordered just one pasta dish each. It seemed that other patrons ordered a meat dish afterwards but that wouldve been too much for us (even as Americans! The restaurant was primarily locals which was a nice change. Most of the wait staff spoke enough English to understand what we needed.Make sure to get the mille-feuille cake! It was delicious and you wont regret it!
This restaurant has been around for quite a long time. Family-run, food is really good and had the typical Florentine food you wanna try when you are in town. Not pricey at all. Must book in advance especially on weekends. Its got a nice atmosphere and the decor is that of a genuine trattoria.
Honestly one of the best restaurant meals we have had in Italy yet, the taste is fantastic. Expect a plain and efficient presentation but also expect a very friendly and lovely family staff. Priced and portioned to enjoy a full meal, first stop for me should we ever make it back.
Great traditional Italian Lunch. Very cheap. Full of Locals. Had lots of small dishes, nice pasta, sausage and beans, chicken, beef and very nice and cheap house wine... Most come for traditional non-touristic lunch or dinner
Its a very cozy restaurant with good price(generally 3-5 euros each dish), authentic Tuscany food and satisfactory service. Many local people came here. We visit this place twice during our three-day trip in Florence.
