Trattoria Pizzeria Dante in Florence

WOW! We happened upon this place and everything was great. They had this great deal 50€ that included bruschetta, Florentine steak, roasted yummy potatoes, and a WHOLE bottle of really good wine. They are trying and doing their best! We are so glad to have found this gem!

I have lived in Italy so I can recognize where the food is good and prices normal and not for turists and this is the case. The portions were big, fresh food. The pizza was amazing, best in town. The place is nice and calm, you can go outside or inside with nice music. I read the people who gave 1 star are just students who wanted to drink for free and were angry but com on, they need to run a business,i never read anything that said free wine for students but the only thing you could say is to change that slogan not to talk bad about a place cause you want everything for free. However, read careful the reviews cause some people are not objectiv and only want free things. A great place, great food. You should def try the pizza and the glasses of wine were the biggest ones i have ever seen! Amazing.

A good restaurant close to the center. Solid prices for Florence and nice staff. However the place was empty and almost dead silent. Because of that it felt bit depressing, however the stuff took good care of us, food was tasty and served fast. They also have a garden, but it was in the sun with no shadow or umbrella.

Nice location, pizzas were a bit too crunchy...

Just a decent place for a bite to eat and a great glass of wine. They let me sit for hours storing our luggage while we ate and drank wine waiting for our air b&b. Great food and service, thank you.

3 stars if you are a student. The “unlimited wine” is dependent on the waiter and how… well behaved… the group is after a few drinks. Still a decent deal. Food is so-so.If you’re not a student, I still recommend this place but there are better places.

Really enjoyed this restaurant in the centre of Florence. It was exceptional food, the pizza was fantastic, service really excellent (the owner gave our kids his food he hadnt managed to eat as he could see they were hungry). I had the Napoli pizza which was a deep pan and incredibly filling and delicious. Well recommended, prices were also fine for the location and quality.

Bad food, heavily touristy, a menu that any Italian would run away from (Alfredo pasta and Hawaian pizza 😆).There are PLENTY of better options in the area (Angiolino ai 13 arrosti is a gem a stone away). Dante would be revolving in his coffin..

The risotto and pizza were lovely but the service was very slow, we waited over an hour for our food to arrive. Avoid the fantasy crostini (it was just breadand the pepper pasta but the seafood risotto was very nice.

We were promised unlimited wine for students. We had 10 people and were given 4 bottles of wine, a normal amount for 10 people. When we asked for more we were given rude responses by the staff and quite literally shushed after being nothing but respectful and thankful. We understand this large of a group is hard to serve but we were lied to and treated with disrespect. Don’t come here if you want to be yelled at and kicked out after an hour after being promised student priced wine.

The worst dining experience I’ve ever had. The reviews and phone call advertised unlimited wine for students. As students studying abroad, a group of 10 of us made a reservation and went. Our group being respectful and kind, the servers, manager, and hostess ignored us, served us a couple of bottles of wine, and told us they would get us more and never did. After waiting for over 30 minutes, they said we had to leave because there’s was another reservation. The food was rushed, cold, and honestly not good. We were nothing but respectful to them, and they treated us beyond poorly. If you don’t want to be shushed, ignored, and treated with blatant disrespect, don’t go here. Not to mention the food wasn’t great. If I could give Dantes 0 stars, I would.

bad customer service, shushed a few people at our table and asked our 11 top to leave after only an hour and a half. we were very respectful and the restaurant wasnt even busy at the time. when we asked our waitress for something she would turn her head and walk away. do not recommend

If I could give this 0 stars I would. This was the worst experience I have had at a restaurant! We were told that students get unlimited wine with the purchase of an entree. I came with a group of 10 and we all got an entree. We were first given 2 bottles of wine which we finished, and then we were given 2 more 15 minutes after we got our food. Since it was unlimited wine, we expected to be able to get more. The women with dark hair shushed us after asking if we could have more. We then asked the man a couple times to no avail. A man who appeared to be the manager/owner assured us that they were bringing us more drinks. We never got more. The woman finally came back and told us that we needed to leave for another group after only 1 hours and 15 minutes of being there. For a group of 10, that is no time at all. We tried to explain that we were waiting for more drinks and she said no we needed to pay and leave. She then brought the check and said that we could all pay with one card or individually pay with cash, which makes zero sense. The food was not good or authentic and the service was horrible. Never go here for unlimited wine as they will not honor what they tell you!

Pretty good pizza. The 2 euro cover charge just gets me angry.. also post it outside. Prices are reasonable and the food is generally good and generously sized. I had a pizza and a salad (that came with a free flat bread). I probably wouldnt come back unless I had a big group, but I was glad to have come today. It was convenient and generally delicious.

We were looking for wood oven pizza so glad we found Dante’s! It was also nice to find a fish appetizer instead of the traditional cured meats - the carpaccio of salmon along with the flatbread covered by the obligatory “coperto” was a nice start followed by a crisp rocket salad and eggplant pizza. The house red is also good and won’t break the budget. Vibrant and casual atmosphere with helpful wait staff.

We found this restaurant as a nice and calm place. The Florentine steak was delicious!

I ordered a take away pizza here tonight, but the staff made me feel right at home no less. In addition to being personable and kind, they offered me Prosecco while I waited! I hope I have a chance to sit down here for an actual meal. I was so tired today—I was a bit sad, to be honest—and my short time in Dante was just what I needed. Oh, and delicious pizza!

It was really great. Very nice waitresses, and the food was delicious. The grilled salmon was best we had in iitaly

Excellent food, great service, nice place. We stopped by for a quick lunch and ordered some pasta. It was just brilliant; great tasting sauce and the spaghetti was cooked perfectly.By the way, this is a proper restaurant, not a takesaway/delevery place.

Dante is a sweetheart of a human. Tamara, a server, is also amazing. Food is great but the service is most notable. We have a rule while in Firenze...we dont eat anywhere more than twice...might break that rule for Dante. I have been to Florence 10 times, lived here for more than 12 months over the course of my visits. This isnt a statement I make lightly. Also, I dont pretend or posit to be an expert...so, take it or leave it. Regardless, I hope your experience is amazing wherever you visit or dine.

The food was very late. I was waiting an hour only to hear my food is not available any more. Then after next half an hour the food arrived, just fine, nothing special. The portion was small.And the waiter wasnt understandable in any language, wether it was English or Italian

We were here in 2015. THE BEST CUISINE IN ALL OF ITALY.Was planning on returning to Florence in June 2021 just for the squash ravioli in pear sauce but it’s no longer on the menu. So sad.

A very nice place with very nice waiters.I was there and had a tasty pizza.The waiter Leonardo made sure I had a good time and treated me well as a customer.Definitely recommended.

I wouldnt recomend this restaurant to anyone.Rissoto with shrimpa- no seasoning, dry (suppost to be semi-wetlooked more like plain riceRisotto porccini with mashrooms- broth was made using bouillon cube from shop, no wine was used at all, water was just sitting at the bottom of the plate. Risotto over all was dry and again looked like plain rice.Farfalle with ham chees and cream- pasta suppost to be homemade was from shop. Suppost to be with creamy sauce, in reality there was milk at tbe bottom of the plate... no ham no chees.Penne dante- first time i had it, in this restaurant same as awful spaghetti bolognese with no seasoning...There is reason to continue and we had 2 more dishes. This is first time i write negative review. I woudnt recomend this restaurant to my worst enemy. My family is feeling sick right now. We were supposed to go for a walk after dinner but we are all in our beds with a stomach ache.Waitress was very nice and place looked good.

It wasn’t the best restaurant in Florence at least for me. My husband and I walked in because there was a lot of people so we thought it must be good. We then realized it was mainly students. My husband’s carbonara was okay, however, my penne was tasteless and the tomato sauce tasted off. I didn’t say anything because I didn’t want to be rude, so I had few bites and left the rest. If you are looking for good food, this place would not be a place to go to. There was a girl beside us that ordered pizza and It looked like a saucy mess.

We liked the ambiente very much. Downside is, they have only one toilet for the whole restaurant.You get a self baked bread when entering.We had water, risotto funghi and lasagna. Both was very good. The ingredients had a good taste.Service was good and the price reasonable.

Lovely design and atmosphere inside. Friendly staff.Their own wine is very nice at very affordable price.Very downside was la bistecca fiorentina was the worst Ive eaten in Florence.

Great food and service. Open for late afternoon lunch. We had pasta, risotto and and pizza. All were excellent. Group of 6 from kids to adults. All left happy.— went back revised down to 4 stars - avg of the two experiences. Food good but service was very disappointing on the second visit.

Terrible value for money, to sit down costs you 2 euros, to order tap water costs you 3 euros. The pizza had no dough and was a liquid mess in the middle with a tiny bit for the crust the pepperonis only consisted of 3-4 bits. All in all payed 14 euros for an average pizza and some tap water.

Great plus side to this restaurant is that it doesnt close in the afternoon, so you can get good food if you are traveling and arrive in Florence without having eaten lunch on the train. I ordered the clams and pesto over tagliatelle. It was a great combination with very tasty pesto!! We also ordered the calzone atomico. It wasnt really spicy at all, so dont be fooled by the name. Wouldve gone again if we had the chance.

Decent service, convenient location (which was why we walked in). However, food was pretty flavourless. We ordered a sundries pizza, porcini risotto both were bad. Portions were huge and takeaway was not allowed.

Food is gorgeous and quite reasonably priced! Only negative comment is we were waiting a long time to be served, even with water. But the longer we stayed we realised you have to literally call them over to tell them youre ready to order. But once that was done the food and drink were very quick coming out.

Pizzas are good. tables are nicely set upon arrival including a bottle of the house wine, but unceremoniously, almost rudely stripped if you decide not to have any. Service is not at par even with Italian standards. our order was wrong, like way wrong, but we were just too tired to argue after a long day.

Food is extremely below average. It is a student hangout because they offer free wine but the service is incredibly slow. Once you get your food, good luck getting the attention of your waitress because you won’t see them until you’ve finished your food and are beyond ready to leave. Just put an end to our whole parties night. Huge bummer. Would not recommend.

Best food we found in Florence. So good we went back multiple times. Dante greeted us himself and remembered us the second time. He and his staff make you feel at home. Lots of laughter in the restaurant is an indication everyone was having a good time.

Excellent service. Good food, reasonable prices. Nice ambiance. Overall a solid option. If youre a foodie you might not be satisfied. I have no idea, since Im not terribly picky about pasta. Only annoyance is the music, and the cover charge. No idea why Italians think this is normal.

The service is fine, but the food is downright awful. The pastas taste like something that had been sitting in the Barilla boxes for a few years, the fish seemed like something out of a can, and the sauce had a watered down Heinz flavor. No idea how this place stays in business with such good food around it. Echoing other comments, i noticed a ‘table fee’ on my bill as well. Save your money and calories, walk two blocks south, and grab a table at Trattoria I’Raddi.

Pretty good. They served us plain bread with olive oil as an appetizer which surprised us. The pizza was okay, hard to cut. The pasta was delicious, but everything was overall decent. They have allergerns listed on the menu but you still have to ask because a lot contains things even if its not listed.

Instead of the usual sliced bread while waiting for our lunch, we were treated to an actual dry pizza bread fresh from the oven! The lunch was delicious and wed come back for dinner without doubt.

Food was awesome. Randomly went in looking for a place to have lunch at almost the end of lunchtime and came out full and satisfied.

Service was good. The food was awful. Both salads seamed to us were made, at least, 2 days ago and just kept in the fridge. Pork meat did not have any taste. I noticed that all local/Italians people who were there had only pizzas on the tables. So maybe pizza is tasty only.

Great place to eat causal italian restaurant food.

We were served with food that is so neatly cooked that it should be fed to the Queen of England! We ordered Greek salad, steak, and pizza. Not only was this food so mouth-watering but the restaurant itself was very clean and it had a luxurious appearance. Next time I go to Firenze, Ill definitely know where to go for a luscious dinner!

We love Dantes! From a large group that went four times in six weeks, take it from us: its a fan favorite. Pizzas and seafood pasta were go-tos, and I personally adore the sauteed spinach side. The service is fun and accommodating. To boot, the prices are just fine! Thanks for taking care of us!

The food was ok. We had pizzas. The dough was a bit flat in flavor, and the cheese didnt seem to be of the highest quality either (not bad or a health risk, to be clear, just not very flavorful). Ive had comparable pizza in small cities outside Italy. I.e., if you want outstanding Italian pizza, I wouldnt come here. If you need food between sights, it will be just fine.

Absolutely disgusting!!! Do not eat here! We stopped at this restaurant during our honeymoon and ended up fighting because of the bad experience we had - I ordered the gnocchi with sausage and truffle oil ( which was the waiters recommendation). It was super greasy, way too much oil and the gnocchi was soggy. Never in my life have I had a bad experience with my favourite pasta! My husband ordered the Vienna pizza which was supposed to be with sausage but they served it with hot dog on top! An embarrassment to Italians

Dante appetizer (meat+cheesewas great, candle on table wasnt light, house red wine was okay but have had better, main course was average, desert was above average.

A little out of the tourist centre and so much better! !!! For the same price or cheaper you get full service and amazing pizza with fresh ingredients. Great atmosphere with background music and waiters who ask you how the meal is. Domenico, the chef, in the open kitchen runs a clean kitchen and is clearly proud of his work. Its a 5-star plus for me!
