Trattoria Old School Da Anto - Sicilian restaurant in Palermo, Italy
Great traditional food for a great price. We went there as our host recommended it to us. And we loved it so we ended up having dinner there twice. Big portions, could hardly finish it but so delicious!
Nice food, huge portions, great prices
A bustling place for outdoor dining in the midst of a vibrant nightlife scene. Staff are very friendly and attentive as the weave through tables in a blur. Food is good though the beverage list is limited. Its where people come to enjoy life.
Excellent food, big portions and super good price value - bit off from crowded Main Street. Extra plus: super nice and quick service!!
5 stars for the service, but the food is really disappointing, if you like an oil overdose its the place for you
Very tasty food. Had a laugh with the staff. Will visit next time Im in palermo!
Delicious food, generous portions, highly recommend eating here and having the Involtini di melanzane.
Order with caution, the servings are huge. Lovely food, great service and good prices. We could not finish what was lovely food. We ordered a shared platter which could have served six ( there were two of us), then pasta Norma and a lasagna. All with some excellent red wine. Worth a visit.
Massive portions, great flavours, great service. Very affordable as well
I don’t usually review restaurants on Google but I have to make it clear how dissatisfied we were with this meal. From the start, my girlfriend was treated rudely when whoever was sat before us had left an open sachet of olive oil on the table. When she tried to move it, it had spilt and the waiter came over and shouted at her.Secondly we were served stale bread in a sad basket. We should have left at this point. We then ordered 3 large salads that were served in what I can only describe as huge, yellow, plastic fruit bowls. My girlfriend had the grilled chicken salad which was just a ready-made bag from Tesco with raw mushrooms floating on top. The salad was completely bone dry and undressed. For the price of €10, we didn’t expect to cook it ourselves.I ordered the aglio olio and it was disgusting. It was swimming in cheap olive oil - if only they used some of this on the salads. At the end of the meal, our plates were still full and we asked for the bill. The waiter was angry and questioned why we hadn’t eaten anything. We said “it’s just not for us” and he offered to put it in doggy bags. Not even a stray dying doggy would want that bag.The best part of the meal was when we bought some rizla from a street seller and he did an impression of a cat for 5 minutes. I wish we had given him the €60.
I really don’t understand the good reviews, we were very disappointed. I had spaghetti with mussels and my boyfriend alla trapanese, both dishes were not good at all, poor taste, i didn’t understand why but my pasta tasted like plastic. The staff was unfriendly from the beginning, but we didn’t have to pay the food. I felt like they weren’t even surprise we didnt like the food...
Great place for lunch or dinner. I absolutely recommend them. Super nice waiter <3. Brusceta (antipastiwas super delicous. Simple but very tasty italian kitchen, portions pretty big. Don’t forget to ask for tiramisu as desert. Prices are very affordable and location is convenient.
Delicious food for low prices, the staff was very friendly.
Be careful, the primi are huge! Apart from the pasta alla norma (diluted and tasteless sauce), everything was quite tasty. Overall very good service and delicious house wine.
I dont know what the reviews are about, but this place has shockingly BAD food. It felt like it was prepared by a 10 year old. All 5 meals tasted bad. The picture speaks for itself:(
Good for the price. Tasty dishes. Good house wine.
Delicious food, you can feel even the pasta itself is very high quality.Helpful staff that can speak English and gives great recommendations.
Outstanding, large portions of pasta at a very reasonable price in a lovely, quiet location. Friendly staff. Go hungry!
Served me a lasagne that had to be at least 3 days old. Honestly was shocked when they put it in front of me. Tasted alright but geez, have a little pride in what you do.
Even if they had to shrink their menu for some reason, I had nothing to complain. The seving was fast and thr waitress was kind and helpful. Also when I asked them to prepare my remaining lunch for take-away they were kind to do that for me.The meals were really good and I cant say a single - bad - word for the portion sizes. The cad payment was a but difficult because it took a couple of minutes to establish connection but eventually it was also successful.Really a good place to visit, a bit further from the crowd (that was welcomed to me)
The Restaurant is located in a nice, interesting and young neighbourhood. Staff was friendly but not over-attentive. The restaurant was recommended by a waitress in a nearby bar but still most of the guests around us were tourists as well. We ordered a mixed starter plate and two pasta dishes. The starter plate would have been more than enough for the two of us. The portion sizes were ginormous.
Despite such good reviews this place really disappointed. Our eggplant parmigiana came out lukewarm, the white ragu was watery and all you could really taste was peas and the eggplant in the pasta alla norma was also lukewarm. Service wasnt great either unfortunately.
Sooooo good... Try the cabonata its to die for!!! The sharing starter for two is a lot, super cheap and extremely yummy!!!!Amazing and quick service, full of locals!!!!Grazie!!!
Huge portions and tasty, friendly efficient service and a great location to absorb the local vibe. Fair prices. We went twice in our 4 night stay in Palermo
Ok. Not perfect but much better than all other places. Nice food and ambient
Come ready to eat a big meal as the portions are massive 😂 Food is amazing and well worth a trip. You get a very homely vibe from the place. Good wine, good people, good foodWe were lucky enough to be sat on a communal table and had a good chat with some Swiss family which made the night ! Got a cheeky game of Uno in too 😂
Was busy at night and looked promising especially with Google review if 4.4/.5. They were either understaffed or the service was extremely slow; I ordered the Palermo sausage 2nd course which comes with a "salad". What came was a 1- good tasting sausage poorly panfried with the breading wet on the inner half and half a plate of chopped lettuce...just lettuce not even dressed, this you had to do yourself with packets on the table of salt, oil, vinegar; so all this for €7. My girlfriend requested the white Ragu, also 7, which was mediocre at best and came with peas? Honestly looked/tasted like it came out of a packet. Dont know who is rating this place so high but it was a proper waste of a dining experience. Go for sustenance alone.
Perfect value-price ratio. Big, well-tasting menus. Highly recommended
Affordable, good food, very nice staff, lovely place, fully recommended
Amazing place with great food, enormous portions and wholehearted service 👍🏻❤️
Large portions, nice staff. We especially liked sicilian croquettes which were served as part of Hot fritto misto (portion for 2).
Great food. Great location. Beware, there is a “sitting fee” and also they will bring you a full bottle of wine rather than a half bottle like you ordered in order to make more money.
Super friendly host, huge portions. Very concerned to eat full portion but the portions are just too big! Very tasty and very nice atmosphere.
The food were very nice and the waiter was very enthusiastic and helpful. Each dish has a big portion so we need to pack the rest and take them away!
Appetiser was very good, BUT main course was not tasty and the mussels wasn’t fresh….
So delicious and pleasant prices.I ordered swordfish and it was huge and tasty. And I saw here a lot of locals — great sign
Big portions. Good food. Average place.
Good food but big portions, more than half of the plate was not finished. Friendly staff but not all speak English.
We had the antipasti and some street food (small sandwiches filled with cheese, meat or potato omelette). Portions are generous so the quality / price ratio is very good ! Nice terrasse on a quiet street. The service is friendly and fast
Great typical Italian food, and good prices
Excellent food and service. Stumbled upon this place, returning to Palermo, hungry, expecting expensive and not so good as during our first visit to this city. This restaurant had excellent food at very reasonable price with impeccable service!!!
They have a digital menu for English speakers and a paper menu for Italian speakers. There are a-lot less options on the English menu when you compare. I didn’t realize this until after I had ordered. If you can’t print a menu in English, that’s perfectly fine. We’re living in the year 2021, we all have technology on our mobile phones that can translate any language. Why have two separate menus? One of the two waiters was awesome and friendly. Overall a chill dude. The other seemed like she’d rather hang out than assist when needed. Hence the two stars. The English menu food was mediocre. I don’t know about the Italian menu dishes ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Good food, nice service, amazing value. Portions are massive, too big.
Great food. Good portions. Nice outside seating.
Great and quick service that provided very good food recommendation. Nice location and super big portion sizes. Also food quality very good for the price point. Absolutely recommended from my side.
The best cannoli and tiramisu in town. We came in today looking only for desserts, and we were not at all disappointed. The cannolo was very tasteful and you could feel the ricotta cream very fresh. The tiramisu was also perfect. We will come back to try the main dishes (and of course reorder some cannoli)
AMAZING FOOD! Big portions! We were thinking of getting a secondi but just the promo was enough! Great staff and great prices!!
We had a lovely, but quiet basic meal.Albeit, super service.Definitely worth a visit if you like pasta for relatively cheap prices.
Great stop while in Palermo. Friendly staff, generous portions, and very affordable.
We loved this place. No tourists but us and great food. We specially loved the pasta!! Really nice service but also great costumers that are glad to welcome foreigners to their city and the restaurant they regularly go to. Also the prices are great!!! 1L wine: 7€ and no dish costs you than 8€Would absolutely recommend this place!!!
