Trattoria Nella - Southern Comfort Food Restaurant in Florence, Italy
Absolutely delicious. Had ribolitta and ravioli al ragu, and pannacotta for dessert. Perfect!
The best food I’ve had in all of Italy. I’m writing this review after the entire trip and this is the one place I really miss. The staff was nice and helpful. The place was cozy and the food just like home cooking, but better. I recommend the rabbit, the tripe, as well as the Florence classic dish pasta with wild boar sauce.
Great food and great atmosphere! Owners are very helpful and make you feel like you are home. Definitely will come back again!
Absolute gem. Prices are down to earth, very Italian and family-run (the funny male owner at some point joked about how difficult it is and he needed to see a therapist >.<). The woman server was genuine and service-oriented.Their food.. wow.. where should I start.. we ate our way up from south Amalfi to here, and this turned out to be the best meal we had in Italy. Every dish burst into flavours in our taste buds, right till my last bite of their Ribollita and subtle rosemary-flavored beef. (We rarely eat beef, this one was defly worth it.We had Michelin in Amalfi, and theyre not even near to this. Trattoria Nella deserves a star in my opinion! Hope the family keeps up the standard, cos well be back if were in Firenze :)
Lovely Trattoria. Wonderful food - highly recommend.
Stumbled across this lovely restaurant while trying to find an authentic place to eat. The first time we went there were only Italians in it which was a good indication that wed made the right choice. We had a Tuscan antipasto appetizer that couldve been a meal in itself. We also had ravioli which was very good, and the most flavorful pork chop Ive ever tasted, served with delicious, perfectly roasted potatoes. The second time tried the risotto parmigiano, caprese salad and another meat dish that were all excellent as well. The owneris helpful and friendly and speaks English. Waitress is friendly and remembered us and thanked us for returning(a week later). I definitely recommend it!!!
Great food, good portions, lovely service. After eating at six different places during my vacation, this one was the first one to actually feel like a Trattoria and not just a generic restaurant.
Great home made food in the heart of florence. The service was so good and they really made us feel at home.Their cacio e pepe is a must
Hidden Gem! The owners were spectacular hosts and the food on offer was bellissimo!! Fresh, delicious and seriously good value for money in a part of town where you usually pay far more for worse. Grazie Mille.
Visited the restaurant with my partner, we were looking for somewhere causal as wed been travelling all day and hadnt eaten since the day before. The atmosphere is casual and the hosts are very friendly. We had capresse salads, wild boar pasta, risotto fungi, tiramisu and panna cotta. All of the dishes were lovely and reasonably priced. The panna cotta with chocolate was our favourite and the perfect end to a meal. Would recommend.
Wow! Amazing food! This place was recommended by a friend and I feel like I need to pass this recommendation along as well. We had the appetizer sampler for one (it was plenty of food for two people). It was excellent and a great teaser for what was to come. The pasta was cooked excellently. I had the papperdelle. It was great! The white wine was also excellent. Definitely try this place out if you are in Florence.
We had a horrible experience tonight at Trattoria Nella and I am angry. My wife and I ordered a caprese salad, ravioli and a meat dish, one of each to be shared. After we finished the salad we waited and waited for the next dish while everyone around was being served. After about 40 minutes I decided we should leave went to the back to pay for the wine and salad. They assured it would be right out and we waited a little more. Again I went to the kitchen just to pay and leave but he came out of the kitchen with the pasta dish. This is where I made a mistake. I should have said forget it, pay for the water, wine and salad and leave. I sat down, the pasta was served but with no additional plate so we could share. I then had to go back and ask for another plate. What was infuriating was immediately after getting the extra plate (for the primihe brings the meat plate (secondi). This isnt how meals are supposed to be served in Italy. We were very disappointed, our dinner was ruined but what was obvious was they really didnt care. One last thing... at one point while we were waiting the man who was talking orders and serving decided to take a smoke break outside by the entry so we also got to enjoy the smell of the smoke drifting in as well. A memorable night we will not soon forget.
An absolute gem. This is what an Italian family restaurant means to me. Cozy place, friendly service and last, but not least, all meals we had were simply delicious. We went for Tuscan antipasti, various pasta dishes and homemade tiramisu and all dishes hit the spot. This was our third time in Florence and the only thing I regret is that we did not find this place during our previous visits. We’ll be back to Nella, for sure.
If you are looking for a family atmosphere and delicious food that is the place you shall visit. From entry till the end, I have enjoyed the place. The food was great and delicious. Enjoy
Great place. The food is simple, fresh and delicious.
We had a lovely meal here on our first night. The woman who served us was so friendly and welcoming. Nice menu and also a great price, slightly cheaper than other restaurants in Florence but just as delicious! We will be returning again to try different dishes on the menu before we leave
It was really nice service, a nice variety of foods and a nice atmosphere! Even my picky 10 year old really enjoyed her food!
Lovely place with lovely people, the food was excellent, recommend highly for good authentic Italian cuisine.
This restaurant is a small family owned restaurant that serves authentic Florentine food, fresh ingredients and friendly service. The risotto funghi, spaghetti Mare and ravioli were all delicious. Felt like we were eating at the chefs home. Small and rustic setting.
Great hosts. We spent 3 days in Florence and ate here twice. Great wine. Papardelle with wild boar was excellent as was the lasagna. Risotto was very tasty. Fantastic food and wonderful owners. Can’t wait to come back!
Really good food. Fresh and simple but delicious spaghetti. Very friendly and kind staff :)
The absolute best ravioli i have ever had. Excellent service. Amazing authentic and beautiful restaurant.
We had a lovely time in Trattoria Nella! despite coming near the closing time, the owner was very welcoming, and the food was absolutely delicious. We took two spaghetti pomodoro e basilico, one pici cacio e pepe and one ravioli alle noci which we especially recommend! Their vino della casa was balanced and paired well. Looking forward to come back again!
Very very good food. I had the roast beef and it was amazingly tender. Its the best food Ive had at this price point in Florence so far
Wonderful experience. Family styled good food, good ambiance, lovely hosts. Next time I am in Florence I am dropping in again.
Homely and cosy restaurant. Great food with fresh flavor!
Nice little place for lunch. Food was good, left full. Hole in the wall type atmosphere, looks like its run by family. Lots of loud Italian conversation going on around you.
It was incredibly delicious! The risotto, pasta al ragu, gnocchi Gorgonzola, delicious !!!
The Ravioli came with walnuts and had cheese packaged. Though it was delicious, I fell in love with the Carbonara here. Probably the creamiest one I had in Florence. Simple and tasty — feels like you are eating something from home. Unfortunately, it is a special menu item.
Lovely gem in Florence. We really enjoyed our food, a lovely lady served us. She didn’t have much English but it added to the whole authentic Italian experience. If your in Florence it’s a must try.
Went twice because it was that nice. Excellent food and service. Cozy little spot. Panna cotta may be the best you can ever find. The specials dont disappoint!
Amazing food at half the price of what other restaurants charge for the same quality. I recommend finishing your dinner with the panna cotta with caramel :)
Amazing service, the people there were incredibly nice. The food was very good, as well as the prices. Great stay and great tiramisu!
Most illustrious, Magistrate, Band-master, landlord…. many titles for the person who makes Florence the best place to eat in.Once in, you will immediately understand that underestimating a positive review can really, luckily, happen.Enjoy dottor Fattorini.
I live around the corner and am trying to find some new favorite restaurants in the area so I stopped here for dinner. They were very welcoming and friendly and the service was amazing. Great prices and a very traditional Italian experience.
Authentic Italian food and good service. I recommend to visit when in Florence.
Great food (a family businessservice and ambience. We have been here twice and we will come back .
If you’re looking for amazing food and great service (people), this place will knock your socks off. I had the tortellini strascicati and my boyfriend had pollo alla cacciatora. Make sure you stop by and say hi to Sergio! 😊
The owner speaks fluent English and definitely one of the best restaurants in 4 days of eating our way thru Florence. We stumbled on this small Trattoria by accident and it as amazing. Be aware they only have house wine but it was very good. The owner and wife run the place and he speaks English very well and they have English menus. The food was plentiful, excellent and inexpensive. I wish we found this place sooner I would have went back several times. Highly recommended we will be back next year….
2 primi pasta, 1 secondi, panna Cotta, digestivo, water and housewine 1/4 50€. Primi pasta prices are ok but my fettucine were too soft and not aldente. Ravioli were very good. Secondi was a beef Stew. Slightly overpriced for 15€ as it could be more Tender. Ambiente was with smooth Jazz which was nice. We were the only one and even if they were nice. It was clear that they want to close even it was before 22:00. So the courses were rushed and directly after dessert they Asked for check. Which i refused, as i dont want to rush when i pay 50 euros for a nice dinner with my wife.
We enjoyed coming here - we happened to walk by it and were drawn by it’s traditional vibe and the menu looked really good as well. We enjoyed our food (mixed Tuscan antipasto, and our pastasand the wine was also really tasty and the prices are very reasonable. The gentleman working there was also very friendly which added to our experience. We enjoyed our meals slowly, got more wine and just enjoyed the good vibes. It felt good to have dinner somewhere that felt more honey and quaint.
What a wonderful little family restaurant! We stopped by for a lunch and loved every piece of it! We recommend their beef stew with black pepper and wine. Our mouth was watering and we wished we knew how to make it as well back home. The pasta with meaty cream sauce was delicious as well and we couldnt decide what we liked more :)Our favorite dessert was panna cotta. The wine was tasty too! The management was super friendly and the service excellent. Visit trattoria Nella and see if yourself!
A quaint little trattoria near the Ponte Vecchio run by a father and son. Doesnt have a set menu. Dishes are reasonably priced and generous.
My family was recommended this place by a local, as it was right down the street from where we were staying. It was our first meal in Florence and it set the bar so high for every other place we ate at! The showstoppers were the pastas we ordered but everything we ate, including the wines and the starters, were beyond our expectations! The restaurant atmosphere makes you feel right at home and the only complaint doesnt have to do with the restaurant, but rather that we didnt get to return in our short time in Florence. Nothing compares to Trattoria Nella and my family still talks about this restaurant being the highlight of our trip!
Every time an acquaintance visits Florence this is the first place I recommend. Absolutely incredible and delicious.Very typical trattoria in the heart of the city. The staff is kind and helpful, at least the two times I ate here. I dont really remember the prices, but it is what youll expect in a touristy area. The ravioli are to die for. Gnocchi Quattro formaggi simply stunning. And the fresh caprese is delightful to begin your meal. Nice wines too
Just left the restaurant and it was an absolutely amazing experience! The food is portioned perfectly and it tastes like heaven. We had the eggplant, saffron risotto, tiramisu, and potatoes. I also had a wonderful glass of Chianti. The owner was friendly and service was quick (no reservation needed!). I cant wait to go back :)I would kill for the recipes! 😂
Mamma Mia! This place is awesome!!We got lucky and got recommended this place from a local guy as he saw us looking through the menu in a nearby restaurant. We decided to take a shot with Tattoria Nella and have no regrets! We had their pork chop and pork roast. The pork chop was the best I’ve had - fantastically charred and crispy. The pork roast had a refreshing sauce that complemented it really well.Overall, this is one of the best restaurants I’ve tried in my week in Italy!
Cute traditional atmosphere. The food and staff was delightful. I enjoyed the walnut ravioli. Very interesting and delicious. I love that it was tucked away from the touristy area and that food seemed authentic. It was delightful and I’m glad to have eaten there but it was not unforgettable. However, I do recommend it!
I had the risotto with shrimp and lemon which was the special, and it was delicious. Its not a very big restaurant, and I wouldnt consider it touristy at all. Very reasonable prices and great quality.
Lovely trattoria, with great food and drink at very reasonable prices. It was more like having a meal with a favourite aunty and uncle than visiting a posh and stuffy restaurant!
