Trattoria La Burrasca - Restaurant in Florence, Italy
Trattoria La Burrasca in Florence
Description
Privilege
We had dinner here while in Florence, as it was recommended by Rick Stevens. We arrived at 7pm (dinner opening timeand we were the first clients, it didnt get much busier even close to 8pm. Food and service were both excellent.
MoreMy boyfriend and I arrive late afternoon from the train from Rome. We decide to eat here as it was recommended by locals who usually eat there. When we got to the restaurant it was about 2:40 pm and the restaurant closes at 3pm. the server or owner was so kind to allow to eat there regardless.Silly us didnt know the florentine steak and how big a kg is and we ended up ordering that for lunch ( our mistakeit was MASSIVE piece of meat which we couldnt finish at all. However it was tasty and grilled to our likingWe wished we had time to try their pasta but definitely recommend a visit in Florence.
MoreNice and good service. We had gnocci with a good Chianti Ruffina
With all of the great reviews we decided to make reservation to sample the steak Florentine. However were a bit disappointed...paid for 1.6kg which was mostly bone, gristle and fat. Given this was my first Florentine steak, I don’t really have anything to compare it with…hopefully this is not what everyone is raving about because I’ve had much better on the backyard bbq. Wine was good and so was the pasta with seafood…but was really hoping for a good steak. Just meh…
MoreJust great. Food very well priced, well cooked and very authentic and tasty. My son had never had rabbit before - now a massive fan. House wine excellent value. After 10 days of eating out in Rome and Florence (often twice a day), this one of the best.
MoreFriendly service, delicious food. We are thoroughly happy with our decision to come here. We arrived 6:55 when they open at 7pm and were able to get a table, but we saw people turned away from 7:45pm onward. Very good pricing. House wine (Chiantiwas awesome
MorePhenomenal food and service. Caprese salad was amazing, fried eggplant was delicious, and squid and shrimp pasta was very nice.
MoreGrazie! What a truly wonderful experience of great florentine steak, wine and service! Grazie Mille!! Martin
MoreYou absolutely must eat here. Dont fall for the tourist traps that are the other restaurants in Florence. This place is full of locals and has proper fresh pasta, a really friendly atmosphere, the food tastes amazing, big portions and reasonably priced. We spent two weeks in italy in 6 different cities and this place was the best by far! The waitor evens sings as he serves! The real Italian experience!
MoreExcellent! Wonderful owner, great food! Opened early to feed our hungry family.
MoreSolo dinner. Friendly, helpful waiter. House wine very solid. Caprese salad lacking flavor overall. Paccheri with octopus and calamari was fantastic. Great portion side, rich flavors with good balance on seafood. Really enjoyed!!!
MoreI came here 10 years ago and came back this week. Same waiter now as then. Good food, great host/waiter, and a nice night out. 1 ⭐ off due to the Rick Steves overflow (not him but the folks reading his book). He does provide an ample amount of tourism dollars to businesses but sometimes you dont want to hear your own accent
MoreI have been here twice on 2 different trips and plan on eating here on every trip! Place is filled with locals, very highly rated. Indoor only small and traditional. They change menu everyday, prices super reasonable. Pasta is so delicious (so legit- in fact some of the BEST I have ever had. I had 3 different ones, the pesto and tomato tagliatelle were amazing. Service is pretty good too and very family oriented with a cozy vibe. Highly recommend! Had lunch here but am sure dinner would be nice too 😋
MoreWe had the gnocchi, pasta with tomato sauce, roasted potatoes and bistecca alla fiorentina and it was all amazing!!! The potatoes had incredible flavor. The bistecca feeds two but you can order in smaller portions. So good and good service!
MoreSmall place but nice, typical for the trattoria climate. Owner and the Cheff in one persone is a great guy. One of the best Bistecca di Fiorentina Ive ever eaten!
MoreThe restaurant was charming, we were seated outside on a nice night. The house red wine was delicious, along with the house salad, the paccheri al ragu, and the florentine steak. I think the steak was good but underwhelming after the recommendations, while the ragu was incredible. Overall a nice restaurant with very good prices.
MoreMake sure you check the bill because the waiter is rather bad at mathematics or he took us for idiots... and tried to cheat us. I sadly think its the last one... Also they close at 10h30 so make sure you leave in time otherwise the waiter will stare you out.... Food was nice and simple... But I d never go back!
MoreThe beef liver steak was very good!
Florenz was a disaster for me, but this place alone would have me come back anytime. Best food i ever had in italy, and a must-visit for any tuscan food lover, and/or wine lover. Ask for their house wine, red or white, great (sadly they didnt wanna selll me a bottle)
MoreI would give it 4 1/2 stars. Good food and very nice server. Very big portions as well. I had chicken and a salad. My husband had the pasta ragu.
MoreMediocre food and unpleasant service. We were very excited to visit this place after reading all the good reviews here. However, there was nothing special about the steak here. We have tried over 5 different steak houses in Florence. You will discover that most reataurants in Florence will serve this level or better level of steak. This place felt more like a tourist trap near the station. We visited at 7:00 at their opening hours since we didn’t have a reservation and the place was empty. The waiter who helped us first gave us a table for two in the middle of the restaurant. Then a lady who looked like a manager came out and told us to go to the seat right in front of the entrance where we couldn’t even sit across from each other. Although it was uncomfortable we were okay because we didn’t have a reservation. While we were eating before any of the guest with reservation arrived, 3 groups of guests without reservation were seated at the empty tables inside. If they had enough tables for those without reservation I don’t know why they had to seat us at the worst table in the restaurant when it was completely empty. Could be a racial thing or not but I think it’s fair to share my experience for those who are considering visiting this place.
MoreStumbled across this place - what a find. All dishes delicious, grilled artichoke, garlic spinach! Roast pots and all pasta yum! Best cheese cake ever. Reasonably priced too.
MoreVery casual place near Central market. Busy most of nights. Had grilled meat dishes for two, salad, wine and small starter that I dont remember. Atmosphere is good, meat cuts were tender but quite salty for me. Couldnt enjoy much. Price is fair enough.
MoreAbsolutely favorite restaurant in Florence. We came here three days in a row! Everything is delicious and the service is amazing! I would also recommend trying a dessert. Love this place and staff.
MoreDon’t let the simple and casual decor stop you from trying this gem of a restaurant. This traditional Italian-styled restaurant is definitely one of the best we’ve tried since we arrived in Italy and absolutely one that my family and I plan to look up during our next trip and recommend to friends whi plan to visit Florence. Everything about this restaurant screams “dinner at nonna’s“ house. From the personal hand-written menus to the messages on the wall reminding us to enjoy the family dinner moments and to “leave your phone in your pocket”, everything about this place promotes the simpler pleasures of life. We are traveling through Italy with our three sons ( ages 19, 22 & 24and came to a unanimous decision that this was by far the most welcoming and personal service we’ve had,not to mention tastiest...and price was super reasonable! Thanks for such a wonderful dining experience, Trattoria La Burrasca! Only one regret is that we didn’ttry their homemade cannolis
MoreFood good but rude service. I live down the same street from this restaurant and knew the reviews from Rick Steves. I waited to try the place until my friend from the states came to visit. We arrived late on a rainy night without a reservation but saw an empty table for two. The rude waiter did not want to seat us until I mentioned that I live here. Then he continued to be rude and would not give any dish recommendations that I asked for multiple times. Then I asked for salt, and he mocked me!Since my complex with 8 rental units is also recommended in the Rick Steves book, I will post a warning about the rude service. This family restaurant did not treat me neighborly! There are many other restaurants with better decor and service in the highly competitive restaurant area in the San Lorenzo/Mercado Centrale area.
MoreVery nice place to go in Florence. Prices are very favorable. Everybody can choose by his ows taste, menu is full of options. Waiter was very kind and helpfull all the time of our visit. Definitely 5* from me! Highly recommended!
MoreAuthentic delicious, fresh italian food. Visit Trattoria La Burrasca and you will not be disappointed. A family run restaurant, the service is friendly and professional and the food will blow your mind. Everything from the cheese platter we ordered to the pasta and even the connoli for dessert, was perfection.
MoreSadly after being reccommended this place it turned out to be very average tourist place.Pasta did not seem fresh or hot, maybe we arrived on an off day....
MoreExcellent restaurant with affordable prices and very good service. They also have a perfect dessert - extremely well (homemade cannoli. Worth a visit.
MoreThis meal was by far one of the most delicious that we had our entire time in Italy. The food is authentic, extremely fresh and well prepared. Make sure to try the Bistecca alla Fiorentina but be prepared to eat a lot!
MoreRestaurant, actually a trattoria in San Lorenzo (Florence largest market neighbourhood), serving very tasty Italian food. Their Sicilian menu is a must-eat - but not on Sunday. Quite cheap, great value for money. No cover charge. Friendly staff. Reservation recommended particularly for dinner
Morenice ambience. service was great and food was delicious. Bistecca was superb, just have to try it. I would recommend to make a reservation.
MoreWaiter was super kind, nice atmosphere, and that’s it. They should know the difference between rare steak and raw steak. I don’t know much about the quality of the meat, but it was well-seasoned piece of rubber. Handwritten menu copied black and white was so unreadable that I ordered steamed spinach n garlic thinking spinach salad. Try pasta if you’re interested.
MoreQuality home-style food - really enjoyed everything we had and the service was great! Atmosphere is cozy and casual. We visited twice during our 6 night stay in Florence it was so good, and we enjoyed both meals! Highly recommend starting with the fresh bruschetta on grilled bread. Everything we had was excellent, so you wont go wrong no matter what you order. Reasonable prices too!
MoreDecent but not particularly memorable food in a small neighborhood setting. The house Chianti was very good, but the bread was tasteless. The quality of the beef was not very good even by European standards. Fair prices. Friendly service. No WiFi.
MoreAbsolutely amazing, not another word to explain how I feel about this restaurant. It is cozy, friendly, local and such great quality. We were lucky to be seated after a table didnt show up for their reservation. I saw many people turned away because it was so busy. The food was so great. I cant believe how the risotto was so full of flavor. The fiorentine steak was also so Beautiful. The cheese platter - oh my gosh! Very good house wine. And very cheap! I cant thank them enough and I find myself very lucky to have walked passed this place. Will never forget this experience.
MoreAmazing meal, good prices - if you dont have a reservation show up at 7 to ensure you get a table.
MoreOne of, if not the best restaurant Ive ever experienced. Great atmosphere. Cozy. The chef (owner?was friendly and helpful. Our waitress recommendations were spot on. Best steak Ive ever had. Wine selection was perfect. Carbonara was ridiculously good. Foodgasm. Though some told us wed need a reservation, we showed up at about 19:00h and the waitress was just showing up for work. It got busy fairly quickly but didnt ever become full. 2 people, bottle of wine, bistecca alla fiorentina, carbonara and dessert came to 77€. They also had no qualms at all about wrapping us our leftovers to go.
MoreFantastic! Recommended by front desk at our hotel on Via Faenza. The best steak Ive ever had. Service was top notch and the prices were astonishingly low for the quality of the meal. We had filet, a mixed grill for two and pasta. We had wine, an appetizer, desserts and after dinner drinks and our bill was under 100 euro. Please remember...the menu changes with whatever is fresh at the market!
MoreThe food is really great. This is the last dinner we had before we left Florence, giving our trip a really nice ending.
MoreIf youre in Florence, and looking for a proper steak, order the T-bone (shareable). The owner (Tomwill not let you order it any way other than how its meant to be served. Trust the process! Best steak Ive ever eaten and I love blocks away from Peter Luger in Brooklyn. If you happen to muster space for dessert, you absolutely can not go wrong with the Ricotta and Pear cake.
MoreGreat place for a nice dinner or a quick lunch. Staff is friendly, quick and very funny to talk with. If you want to taste some genuine Tuscan food (and spend between 15and 20euros for a whole meal, dessert and drinks includedthis is the place for you.
MoreFantastic everything. Very authentic food. I love the ambiance, trattoria style. Food is great, service is great, I was there in early February, so low season and restaurant was not full (which is nice). I imagine that on high season the place is packed. If you are here on vacation, go all out and order the "strange things", liver and onions are fantastic- I had to request a second order. Plus the roasted potatoes are to die for. House wine to complement.....Viva Italia!!!!PS- they play local Italian music which introduced me to Alessandro Mannarion!!! Great artist....
MoreBest meal in Florence hands down. The Florentine steak was simply amazing. They even brought it out to make sure I wanted a 1kg steak. Actually came out to being 1.25kg. Cooked to perfection which of course is rare. We also had the rigatoni with meat sauce which was also on point. The service was great. The location is perfect. Cant say enough about this place. If you are staying in Florence go here.
MoreDelicious!! The best place with the best prices. Highly recommended, opens at 7pm, if you are puntual you can just sit and eat, but usually is better to have a reservations. The Chicken in Herbs, Pasta with Duck Sauce, Picci with Bacon, Cannolli, and the Steak is amazing. Is a very small place with friendly people, as long as you dont add any extra ingredients (such as cheese and olive oilto put on your food, respect the Chefs recipe!
MoreTraditional Italian (Florencemeal made to perfection. The place doesnt seat many (so make a reservationand it is meant for those looking for authentic food from Florence. Prices are more than affordable and the staff is great. My only regret is only going once while in Florence.
MoreThe best steak florentine in Florence! This place was recommended to us by one of the locals from a cooking class we attended. They have really nice cheese/meat boards too. The house wine was great and cheap (€14 for 1L). The service was excellent the waiter was very helpful and friendly, even the chef came out to show us the steak that he had cut for us and had a laugh with us. Would definitely recommend! This place does get busy, and I would recommend booking a table (we were really lucky and got a table without booking, but many others had to wait for a table).
MoreThe best food we have experienced in Florence! We have been to this restaurant 3 times and it gets better and better. The chicken was the best Ive ever had. Thomas is a delight and will explain anything you want on his menu.Go for lunch and dinner as the local entertainment during lunch is fun to watch. There are locals that frequent the restaurant at lunch and the conversations between the diners and the cook is worth it just to sit and watch.
MoreDelicious! Recommended by our hotel, the meal couldnt have been better. Bruschetta that was so fresh that I swear the tomatoes were picked just seconds before. The handmade pasta was cooked perfectly and the wine selection. Make reservations or risk not getting a seat!
