Trattoria Al Vecchio Club Rosanero - Restaurant in Palermo, Italy
Great trattoria, great prices. Great staff. Ignore the main menu. Only the specials count, but that gives you plenty of options. No Catania fans tho.
Simply the best restaurant for trying authentic, home-made, Palermitan cuisine. A must if your in downtown also for the super friendly staff.
I was advised to go here by a local person. He said its where all the locals eat. I and a few other tourists were turned away and told to come back in a hour even though it wasnt busy. Foolishly I did. When I returned I was given the tourist menu with the tourist prices.
Wao - it was amazing. The price is really good and you really feel like youre in a traditional italian restaurant. A must go when you want to dine in the area. Book a table!
We had lunch here on three consecutive days. We loved the pastas which tasted homemade and authentic and of course at great value. Get the half portions (mezzoso you can try a greater variety! We would have had dinner here if they were open on the days we were in Palermo
Great food, big portions. Servis doesnt speak english very well, but that is always good sign.
My favourite place to eat in all of Palermo. Everything about it makes me so happy. The food is insanely good, the prices amazing, the people super friendly, and the place is just so nice to sit in. We ate here 4 times during our trip and I wish we had more time to try other things on the menu. My favourites are their pastas: ricci e gambero (the sea urchin makes the sauce super creamy and umami-y), nero di seppia (a dry but strongly flavoured version I prefer to the saucy ones Ive tried elsewhere), scogglio (fresh seafood with strong herby flavoursand cozze e vongole (the garlic and the fresh clam flavours are magnificent). Their grilled swordfish is soft and juicy and so well seasoned, which I prefer to other ones Ive tried in Palermo. One of the people recommended their raviolo con ricotta for dessert and Im so happy she did because it was amazing! Make sure you book though as theyre popular and it helps to learn a little basic Italian before you go.
Best restaurant in palermo. Amazing food and incredible prices
Extremelly rude owner, he started shouting to me and my friends when ordering from the menu. Not a good place for tourist.
Amazing experience. Make sure to reserve a table, as it is usually full.
Excellent traditional food at affordable prices. Some things that you will difficulty find outside of Italy as the fantastic polpette Di spada (meatballs of swordfish). Highly recommended. Charming place.
We had a booking for 3, arrived on time but unfortunately one of us forgot a facemask. I asked the owner if he had a spare facemask and he said he doesnt care we dont have a facemask and kicked us out. If that wasnt enough, he then came outside and faced off with us, almost as if he was about to fight us (?), and started shouting. Really strange situation. Avoid this place.
The best restaurant in Palermo ever!Good food, reasonable price, friendly staffs. Even the host can’t speak English and hard to make a reservation, everything is good here😊
A nice place with a special ambiance, but service is very bad if not the worst evert , employees are dealing with each other and with the clients like a gang. Food is cheap but quality is cheaper , no spices. Half of the menu is not available , there’s an English menu but nobody speaks English . Fish is old and ingredients are not fresh . We ended up paying 40 € which is a lot for extreme poor quality und staff rudeness
Big portions, delicious food. But the staff can quite rude. Especially when choosing who they want to let in. Be sure not to book for 5 and show up with an extra person as the host will throw a major temper tantrum and clear your table, only to have his staff then come an reset the table again for you to sit down. A bit over dramatic, but then again it’s Sicily 🤷🏼♂️
I love this place and went twice on my trio to Sicily! The food is very cheap, fresh, and delicious. They have so many options, and you can get the portions of half and full. The staff is blunt but very quick with their service. The food came fast and tasted homemade. I recommend the eggplant with swordfish, mussels, and fritto misto. Enjoy and eat a lot since it isn’t expensive!
Outstanding for food quality staff and price. It is A MUST if you come to Palermo.Only one note: they do not have a good command of English language and hence bring some system to translate the menu.In summary we had:1 impepata di cozze (mussels)1 ravioli with fish1 pasta with sword fish3x 0.5 lt of waterGrand total 27e. Probably the best spent ever on food
Very authentic and athmospheric trattoria, but given the legendary status both travel guides and locals award this place, overall a bit of an underwhelming experience. Ninety percent of guests are locals and if you have no reservation, your best chance at getting in is asking very nicely and gently, and strictly after 8 pm. Women definitely have more chance of getting in, so let your girlfriend do the asking. It felt great being at such an authentic place and being surrounded by locals, but the food was actually just humble cantine level. We were charged 50 euro for two persons and definitely paid more than the local customers. Without a doubt that money can get you better food in Palermo. Still, due to the general charm of this place, I couldnt possibly award less than four stars.
We enjoyed this place so much we came here twice during our stay. The dishes are simple and straightforward, just like the prices. The daily dishes are listed on the chalkboard each day. Best food quality to price ratio in Palermo.
Good spot for traditional meals. The glassa is really good - would definitely recommend trying this dish. The Food is also really very economical. Definitely worth the visit!
Super nice experience in a real trattoria with strong soccer tifo link. We tried the RosaNero e Ricci/gamberi, very good!
Nice local and inexpensive place. It got quite crowded during lunch time, we had to wait for our table even arriving after 2 pm.We had the nero di seppia, grilled swordfish and risotto marinara, and all dishes were in a different standard, so its hard to classify the restaurant. I found the nero excellent, the swordfish very good and the risotto disappointing. The main highlight goes to the fact that you can order half portions of the meals so you can get to try more dishes, or one portion (for twowhich ends up cheaper.
Traditional sicilian dishes! Tasty and cheap. You must make a resarvation before and have a good translating with you.
The most reasonably priced meal I had in Sicily. Most large pastas €7, possible to order half portions too. Wine €4 per litre. Food very tasty. I would go back.
Good authentic place to have pasta dishes. But very nice to know before having a table here.. their menu is not in English, their waiters does not speak English. This restaurant is a local restaurant for Italians - travellers are welcome, but if you dont understand anything like we did, you dont know what youre having.Quite a fun experience though :)Cheap food, cheap wine and lots - you wont go home hungry from here.
Fantastic and amazingly cheap restaurant in Palermo. Great decor and atmosphere, brilliant regional food and a central location.
This is a restaurant dedicated to a local football team. The interior has different symbols of the team like T-shirts, photos, etc. It is located off the touristic road, so I didn’t think you can find it accidentally. For our dinner we took pasta bolognese, cotoleta ( something like fried meat with cheese and grilled calamari. All was tasty, but for me all the dishes felt like home made food. The portions are big, so I’d recommend to take only one dish. The staff is very friendly, but don’t speak English.
Terrible experience, terrible.Rude staff and owner, almost violent. We get in the restaurant at 2h50 pm , they refused to let us choose on the menu because of the supposedely almost closing kitchen ...The kitchen is open until 3:30 according to google ...They brought us the most expensive plates of the restaurant and before we ask them about the price, the plates arrived ...The worst pasta in my life :Cold, tasteless, drowned in oiled sauce. Just horrible.Avoid this restaurant don’t waste your time nor your money. Truly
Great place. but the overpowering odor of the automatic chemical flower scented room deodorizer, interfered with the taste of the food so much. the indescribable scent was so strong in the bathroom that my 4 co-diners felt light headed after.
Very cheap but the food not great, and service irá terrible
Frankly, there are not enough words to laud this place: the deliciousness of the food, the speed of the service and the friendliness of the staff were simply impeccable. The prices are the cheapest in town and the food is very fresh & very delicious.
Very local experience with only handwritten Italian menu on the board and no English speaking waiters. Food was a oily and watery but tasted good overall. Bread looked ordinary but was surprisingly good. I also quite like pasta with eggplant. Service was not the best, not sure if it’s because we came just 20 minutes before shop closed and we didn’t speak Italian.
Excellent food, more than fair prices, very good service! Typical Sicillian food.
I... don’t understand. Cheap, sure. But great? No. “Okay.” At best.My bolognese was super-watery. Needed salt. The swordfish meatballs were super strong-fishy smell and I struggled with them. Two of the three fed very happy alley cats who gave it 4 out of five MREOWS.The espresso came in a PLASTIC disposable cup. It’s a throwaway dining experience. If you’re in Sicily in a vacation and this is you’re dream trip, you can do so much better. This is not good for people with discerning palates. It’s for people who eat to live, not live to eat.I’ve been debating between a 2 and 3-star review. I’d rather a 2.5 but I’ll do 2.Service is fine. Ambiance is okay. Wine is meh. Bread is okay. But not one thing wowed me. tge bathroom is clean and wheelchair accessible but I don’t know how someone in a wheelchair uses a toilet that has no seat. And it’s slamming busy so don’t bother coming at all if you haven’t made reservations.
Quirky interiors dedicated to a football club of Palermo (pink & black shirts everywhere), but the food - essentially Sicilian! Tasty and fresh!
Prices are a joke, never ate that cheap and so good on our whole trip. If you dont mind some football shizzle go there. They could easily charge you double the price and you wouldnt care. Service is good, but not everyone was fluent in English.
Great experience.Came here as it was recommended by a friend and it didnt disappoint.Probably the cheapest place weve been in Palermo, yet one of the best.Service was implacable, food came quickly yet was very fresh and delicious. If were ever back in Palermo, well be back+
If you are a backpacker, here is the best place for eating fully with cheap prices. All menus are almost 3 to 5 euros and many kinds of foods are provided. However, if you have traveled with your family and so you want to eat in a gorgeous place, the place is not adequate. I think Vecchio Club is very good to eat normal foods in Palermo.
Good price but please make aldante, I’m Aisan but need right on time noodle.and they will charge bread price extra. I didn’t ask just bring and charged. Small but uncomfortable.Fresh and good price.
Great restaurant, fully decorated in Palermo FC colours. The full menu is not on offer as it is restricted to what is seasonal and they will show you on the board. Incredibly good value, be sure to make a reservation, we were turned away the first night but made a booking to return.
Dont worry about the menu on the table. Look towards the handwritten menu on the walls. Incredible food and really quite cheap too. What a lovely place to go on our first night.A word of caution, they open at 8 and are usually always fully booked... We were lucky enough to turn up as they opened and they had one table!
Had some amazing pasta for lunch here. Very reasonably priced as well. Loved the Palermo football club decor!
Food and service were good. I had the Insalade de Mare which had a lot of squid. The Spaghetti Bolognese was very good. Portions were more than enough. Salad, Main, small beer and small water was €15.
Found this place thank to google. It’s a gem. I was surprised by such low prices. Food is amazing. And lovely ambience.
Found this place thanks to the reviews, otherwise I would never have found it, as its hidden in a dark little street parallel to Via Maqueda. If youre coming for diner (havent done lunch), be sure to be very early as the trattoria very quickly fills with local people who clearly know this place very well, or even better, try to book a table in advance. It also helps to understand some Italian. But dear me, what an outstanding price-quality ratio. Their primi (pasta or risottoonly cost about 3 to 5 euros, but you get an amazing plate, full of flavour and also a very generous portion. Went there twice and tried several plates - all of them were outstanding and Ill remember especially the spaghetti cozze/vongole and the risotto marinara.Their secondi (main courses, basically fish or meat as sucharent perhaps that special, tried one (mix of grilled seafoodbut was just slightly disappointed as the fish was a bit too-well done.Dont bother about the secondi though, just share a number of primi together and youll be more than happy. Three primi for two (hungrypeople should be more than enough, and even with a full litre of water you wont pay more than 20 euros in all!About the waiters, they definitely are nice people but again it helps to speak or at least understand some Italian. Service is also quite quick, which works in two ways: you get your dish quite quickly, but on the other hand youre not expected to stay for many hours after youre finished, unless perhaps you really do the full monty as many locals do: come with the whole family and take antipasti, primi, secondi, a few dolci and a few litres of wine. If youre coming to taste a few dishes, youll be served happily but they want to keep enough availibility after you for those wishing to do what I just described. Thats not being rude but just the way things work here.
Fantastic typical restaurant of Palermo, extensive fish menu, great quality of foods, genuine ingredients, good house wine and incredible proper price. You should ask the staffs for the dessert because they make different kind every day and finish very soon because dessert incredible good.
Fantastic first dining experience in Palermo! Great traditional Sicilian cuisine, absolutely delicious and very reasonable price!
Great pastas for under 5 euro and 0,5l wine for about 3 euro. Food is fantastic!
Good food at really cheap prices. You probably want to brush up your Italian, as no one seems to understand english here. It gets really busy around lunch time, so you are better off booking in advance, or you have to wait an hour to get a seat.
Really good quality / price. The place is cozy and the decorations is nice.
