Trattoria Al Tranvai - Tuscan restaurant in Florence, Italy
LOVED our dinner here the other night!Traditional Tuscan cusine, small, cosy resturant with great atmosphere. The waiter was super helpful and friendly and gave us great recommendations. I had the fungi pasta (cant remember its nameand I literally cant stop thinking about the mushrooms they were the best I have ever had - seriously! My partner have the red wine sausage pasta and my mother in law had the chicken which were both delicous. Food came quick and super freshWe will be back here when we are in florence for sure!
The food was so tasty and delicious. The quality was perfect but the portion was too small, could have been more. All in all, absolutely recommended.
Food was so great. Family atmosphere.
Great seasonal dishes, very quaint atmosphere, and good house wine. The fried zucchini blossoms were especially good.
Amazing service and absolutely delicious meals/wine. I would 100% recommend this restaurant to anyone in Florence!
Traditional toscanese food in a decor remembering the old streetcars of Firenze.Quiet place a little away from the center.Terrasse and air conditioned dining room
Authentic Tuscan restaurant! Friendly staff. Food was phenomenal. Can’t wait to return!
Just go…You won’t regret this. Our favorite meal in two weeks of traveling in Italy.
The meal is very good, beer is not cold enough, customer service was very late.
Excellent Tuscan cuisine and very kind service. Really small restaurant and significantly understaffed or at least very slow service much like the rest of Italy but the 5 stars is for the atmosphere and cuisine. The Osso Bucco was amazing and so was the liver pate and beef strips. Michelin 2017 and 2018.
Lovely simple place with amazing local food, visited by locals a lot.
Nice local set up with friendly staff. Even though the florentine steak is slightly salty for our palate, it is value for money
Finding Cervello Fritto was not easy but luckily this place serves it! Very good. The panna cotta was good as well!
Absolutely fantastic food with a slightly different take on traditional meals found in Florence. The daily menu is very exciting - and the service very engaged and friendly. We will come back!
Gnudi are very good! Good staff
Love Tranvai...still overall one of our favourite restaurants in Firenze, staff lovely. Arrabiatta the best ! 👌🏼
I love the fun look of this place and the homey, friendly service. The choices are plentiful and pleasing. The only doubt I have is in the amount of herbs - such as thyme and parsley - that were used, as they came off pretty strong in all the dishes I tried. But, I’d love to go back and I’m sure I will!
We had only a short time to have dinner, but the staff were very accommodating. The atmosphere was cosy. The food was prepared incredibly well. Thank you!
Fantastic food, lovely atmosphere. The specials of the day were delightful. And such good value for money.
Delicious food. Cosy restaurant in a quiet neighborhood. Reasonable prices. Highly recommended.
Very good experience. Great menú with products and recipies "della Toscana" and to drink you also have an excellent slovak beer. Good service. Handmade desserts. The best "Baccalà con porri" of Firenze.
Lovely local restaurant, friendly staff, perfect service and very affordable! Would definitely visit again.
I have been to Al Tranvai several times, its always a good option for eating traditional tuscan and florentine food. I recommend it to my friends when they come to visit Florence! Its quite little and I suggest you book before going even just a few hours before.
Beautiful restaurant and amazing food 🥘
Cozy, charming, and utterly delicious. Its a little off the beaten path, on the other side of the Arno at the eastern limit of the recently hipsterized section. An utterly local place, with the menu on a chalkboard, and no more than a handful of tables. The food is spot-on though, changing with the seasons yet remaining firmly decidedly Tuscan.Have a go at the carciofi fritti (fried artichokesthat are almost tempura in their oil-free crispness, the polpettini, and, well, pretty much all the pasta - you wont regret it!
Super atmosphere, absolutely delicious food and very friendly staff. We were 12 for dinner (no reservationsand they handled it like pros! Thank you Graziano!
Chanced upon this little gem on a stroll by Giardino Torrigiani. While it was late in the afternoon (14:30and the kitchen about to close, we were told we could dine on condition of prompt ordering. While the service was typical Firenze charm, the staff were kind enough to aid us with the English they knew - considerably better than our poor Italian. The bruschetta was the best weve had, with bright, fresh tomatoes and local olive oil. The gnocchi al ragu was served with tender beef; the al arabiatta as a classic dish with only onion, garlic, tomatoes, parsley. Tiramisu was the perfect complement. Bellissimo! 👌🏻
Good food, but really bad service.I didn’t feel welcome at all as a solo traveler.I didn’t get a single smile from the female waitress and she was very impatient, seeming mad for no reason at all. However the other staff were nice.
The tuscan style steak (18 EURis very tasty. But please keep in mind about extra fee too, in my case, that is table charge: 2 EUR, water: 2 EUR and side dish white beans: 5 EUR.
Closing time was approaching and we gave them a call to see if theyd take us. They did take us and we embarked in a trip to amazing lands. I have been to Firenze many times and its hard to find a good place to eat. We had lasagna, tortellacci ai porcini, tagliata di manzo and pollo. We also had bruschetta and fiori di zucca fritti. The fiori di zucca are heaven, the pastas are fantastic and the meat is great. We will come back.
Very nice local food. The menu is limited, but everything is delicious, yet affordable. The place is relatively small (maybe 10 tablesso unless you are very lucky with the timing, I recommend you reserve a table up front.
Excellent local food for reasonable price. Also lady who served us was very friendly!
Wonderful. The kind of food you only hope to have in Italy that’s authentic and fuss free. Get the fried food - zucchini flowers or any other friend option. The chef is Japanese and knows how to get the fried options to be light and airy. We had meatballs and the papa al pomodoro. Book in advance!
Great authentic Tuscan dishes, very simple and delicious. Reminded me of home-cooked food. Definitely worth it!
Great local food although this is a tourist focused experience, which makes some originals different and overpriced. What is regional though is the staff attitude. I liked the food but wont be back. Try it yourself though!
Outstanding food, fast service, no frills. We tried the bruschetta, polenta, onion soup, steak strips, and the torta with figs and walnuts. One of the most delicious meals we’ve had here.
Great place away from the tourist crowds. Food and service were great.
Friendly staff, helpful, handed us the English menu (though you then have to look at the Italian one for the prices). Everyone liked what we ordered, mixture of tourists and locals eating there, it was getting busier after 7.30, (we got there at 7).
While the food was of good quality and taste, the portions were small, and the service was poor. We felt treated like " just another couple tourists not worth being polite or friendly to". We definitely will not return.
Very nice place; great food and friendly service.
Great little Trattoria and a short and pleasant walk from the Ponte Vecchio. Very local and fresh dishes in season, with good vegetable options for those tiring of pasta. I started with shaved artichokes and parmigiano, and it was delicious. Osso Buco was on the specials board, and wonderfully tender and flavorful. Nice desserts. It looks like almost entirely locals frequenting the place, which is a great sign of the quality. Highly recommended.
Absolutely wonderful experience and amazing menu. To start we had am amazing bean and shrimp dish and pasta arrabbiata then we had the Maiale with balsamic sauce and a classic Florentine dish Peposo (very delicious beef dish). The owner, Graziano, is wonderful! Menu in italian and all the neighborhood is there. We also had a wonderful panna cotta with chocolate aauce and biscotti with vin santo. Restaurant is located in the Oltrarno in a fun neighborhood.
Small, cozy place with a changing chalkboard menu. Food was excellent and the restaurant was packed with locals. Definitely a place to check out if youre looking for something off the beaten path, especially as a tourist.
As others have said, this place has a very cosy, friendly atmosphere. It seemed to be family-run. The food was delicious and the service was great. Would definitely recommend to others and would return if in Florence again.
Small and very good restaurant with typical tuscan cuisine, welcoming landlords. Fried brain and squash flowers to beat. Prices reasonable for Florence.
Unassuming, yet amazing! Wonderful house wine and personal service. Every dish was fresh and very well executed, from regular menu items to specials. Plenty of locals and single tables dining, which is always a great sign. Make reservations, even on a weeknight in the winter, as it filled up fast once 8pm rolled around.
This is a wonderful restaurant! The gnocchi made our top 5 dishes we enjoyed throughout our trip in Italy, which included a lovely meal at a Michelin star restaurant! Dont miss this while in Florence!
Restaurant that knows its place in the established firmament and doesnt need to be pretentious about the good simple food with genuine interest in the cooking and in the warm hospitality. We were the only non-locals in a packed house of happy diners.
Loved this place. Really good local dishes presented in a rustic fashion. Ask for the waitress to translate the menu for you though. Otherwise you may end up with brains.
Lovely atmosphere and staff. Food was great, especially the tiramisu. The overall setting is very authentic, albeit the interior design of trams. Dont expect an English menu, but the staff are happy to help.
