Trattoria Ai Cascinari - Sicilian restaurant in Palermo, Italy
Very nice, traditional restaurant. Probably the best food we had in Sicily. Fresh and very tasty. Excellent service, very friendly and professional. Really reccomended! Ciao from Adriana! <3
Classic Sicilian food done really well. Very reasonably priced and patient and attentive staff (even with our minimal language skills). The neighbourhood is a bit out of the tourist area and not very nice to walk to but worth it.
Lovely traditional Sicilian food with a slice of history on the grounds. It felt very authentic and prices were very fair. It was a great find!
Simple but tasty! Has good choice of sicilia food. It offers welcoming plate of panelle and some other deliciousfood. Also has good wines! I was surprised by the 10 euro bottle (while bottle!Of tasty white wine. The prices are extremely good 👍
This was actually one of my favorite meals in Palermo (after staying there 5 weeks). Delightful, friendly and helpful staff, and the menu is just perfect for those wishing to try truly traditional Sicilian cuisine. I was a solo diner but actually kind of ate for two as I just couldnt get enough. Highly recommended! One of the other great signs is that it was mainly full of Italians :)
Came to sicily to eat Sicilian food. Tried many Great ones(RestrauntsBut this one was Amazing. Thank you Guys the food was Amazing. The service was fantastic.Great prices compared to the cruise ship tourist traps of lower palermo.
We had a very good time here. The food was really tasty and the people were so nice ! A lot of options without gluten !!
A very good selection of Sicilian dishes, with an opportunity (well worth takingof trying out a range of different appetisers. Excellent pasta, decent dessert. Trattoria level prices (so 20€ and upwards for a full meal). Recommended.
Best pesto of my life. Everything delicious
Magnificent experience. The BEST Pasta alla Norma we had. Staff were so hospitable and friendly, such a homely and authentic restaurant. We loved that it was out of the main drag. A hidden gem.
This is the kind of place I seek out in Italy. Super traditional Sicilian specialties, casual vibe, great value, a sense of history, lots of locals. Highly recommend the aubergine polpette and swordfish pasta. They also do the very traditional “Falso Magro” which I gather is becoming hard to find in Palermo. Well-priced wine list.
I loved the food and the people of this restaurant. They are super friendly people! They are the best! They made our trip to Palermo better! Thank you so much. I will miss you!Pablo
Wonderful meal, in a great place. We tried this place having only got off the plane a few hours before. The staff were very welcoming, and quickly made us feel at home.I had the ravioli which was superb, followed by the frittata mista, which again was generous and tasty.A wonderful experience and really great food.
A brilliant find, away from the centre. A simple restaurant with great service, a nice atmosphere and good value for money. The swordfish pasta was the best Id had in Sicily and the cassata was lovely too. There were a lot of locals and Italians dining there too which says a lot. High recommended!
Fantastico! Amazing food, nice people and low prices
Forget anything any stupid blog writes (particularly if it’s a US based onethis one hits it out of the park.
This was a good start. It has a friendly feel and it looks like a hidden gem. The menu is interesting and the staff were friendly and helpful. The food itself was good as was the selection of wine. The issue seemed to be that they had a big party and not enough staff. This meant we were constantly waiting for service and the staff were literally running around the restaurant. Our liqueur never arrived and we had to ask 5 times for the bill, which took 30 minutes to arrive.I can only rate what happened but I hope this was not typical.
Very nice place with delicious fish pasta and desserts.Staff was friendly and professional. As a plus, toilettes clean and organized.
If you’re looking for a rustic, genuine place to eat - the exact opposite of a touristic trap - this is it. The food was excellent, and so was the service which included some on-the-house treats. Absolutely recommended.
Cant say what could be said. Highly recommend this restaurant for both the food and the people.Exceptional....
This restaurant was our best food experience in Sicily. We ate in some Michelin offered restaurant on the other half of the island but this restaurant was much more better then those. If you try only one restaurant whilye you are in Palermo, you should choose this one!:They are very welcoming and the food is amazing!
Awesome delicious food! Definitely the best food which I had in Sicily! And the waitress are very friendly! Thanks a lot! 😊
It was good, but nothing exceptional. The stuffed calamari was nice. The bread was a bit dry.
off the usual touristic path but so worth it. local cuisine, the stuffed squid was amazing. the service is efficient as they literally run left and right that it s hard to get a hold of them 😜. excellent prices.
The food was very delicious and the staff were very friendly 🥰 we ate a lot there
Amazing Polpettone di Melanzane. The appetizers brought with the bread are a must-have!
The owner was delightful and the food was amazing. Quite a walk but well worth it. You can tell locals love it as it filled up pretty quickly.
was perfect...! absolutely recommended
Amazing food, best meal in Sicily.
A bit off the beaten tourist track, and hidden away behind a fairly simple facade with no tables outside, this wonderful restaurant is hidden away.We only went there because it was recommended by our fabulous hostess and were not disappointed. The interior is simple, but "old style" comfortable. We were served promptly, friendly and efficiently. Since they have many tables to serve it might seem a bit too quick at times but we had no problem with that.We had a mixed platter of antipasti and were a bit confused when only a small plate with some fried veggies and pork pieces arrived. The confusion resolved a minute later when the other parts of the antipasti came 😁 Plenty and very good. For main courses we picked squid and eggplant involtini. We enjoyed both dishes a lot, as well as the wine that was recommended by the staff. If you plan to go, best make a reservation.
The staff are super friendly and efficient. The food and wine were really good. A really good restaurant that is inexpensive. I highly recommend it.
Great restaurant outside the touristic area. Traditional Sicilian cuisine, everything is so good, service is fast and kind. Try the Polpette alle Sarde! 5 stars and highly recommended.
been here twice in two years. slowfood place. real sicilian cooking but just not outstanding, or actually bit underwhelming. panelle were nice, polpette di sarde not much, involtini not there. pasta con le sarde was ok for sure. if you need to go because of guidebook recommendation, stick to pasta and dessert. not going back.
Absolutely fantastic place for lunch. The food was excellent and the service was great (attentive but not intrusive). We enjoyed a long lunch of 4 course over a couple of hours and it was brilliant. I would eat here again for sure!
Delicious food (and a decent amount of veggie options, which seems to be a rarity in Sicily), super friendly staff, amazing value and a great authentic atmosphere! Grazie :)
Friendly staff and clear menu. I personally do not like the fried seafood I ordered, but I think the food should be nice, based on the recommendation from my friend. What made me embarrassed was the time I waited, for the first dish (maybe 40 minutes), for the dissert (at last I cancelled it because I was already full... I ate all the free appetizer, something fried, which I thought it was the fried seafood I ordered (BTW that also confused me)and for the bill. Maybe its because I went alone, as the couple at the next table finished faster than me. Again its only a personal experience, I still think it is a nice restaurant of local flavour.
Really good service and nice staff. Food was delicious and the portions were generous, price was good. I can really recommend antipasti misto.
One word: Excellent! It all starts from the moment you enter this place. A warm, smiley welcoming from the staff, which instantly guides you to your table. The menu can be found in 3 languages: Italian, English and French. The restaurant may look small when you enter, but is in fact huge and its decoration great! Everything is clean and nicely put, and the air conditioning is just about right. The food is out of this world! Everything is and looks fresh. We had ravioli, involtini siciliani and a mixed salad and everything was delicious. Prices are also more than okay, taking into account the place and quality offered. The service is great! Fast, kind and ready to answer whichever question you may have. To sum up, Ai Cascinari definitely worths a visit (or more than one!when in Palermo!
Everything was delicious. My friend ordered the homemade pesto dish and I genuinely regretted my choice after trying it... Apparently its often overlooked. The staff is friendly, they have a good wine selection and an English menu. They are going to explain everything in detail in case you dont know some of the words.
Delicious Palermos meals respecting traditions and tastes. Delightful and pleasant lunch at right price. My wife and I, we enjoyed family atmosphere.
Fantastic restaurant. Owner was very welcoming and accommodating to our limited Italian. Quick service and very tasty food. Good value. We went twice during our stay. Would recommend trying the pistacchio cake dessert!
Family trattoria, the waiter is friendly and funny. He will definitely help you to choose something that is traditional. That place is one of the few places that is still popular with locals but is friendly with tourists as well. If i have found that place in the beginning, I would have gone there every day while in Palermo.
I had a plate of mixed grilled fish Sicilian style. Five stars for flavour and presentation. Staff was friendly and helpful. I dont know how well the speak English. We also meet the cook, a spritely 80-year old who actually said that he is willing to cook special orders if we call ahead of time. Located along the harbour, plenty of open air seating.
Outstanding pistachio pesto. A bit of a hike from the main sites but open on Sundays and a favorite of locals. Don’t let the entryway fool you - there’s ample space in the back. The house wine is excellent and a bargain. The complementary fritti will break any diet, as will the lovely cookies that come with the coffee.
Lunch here was one of the highlights of our Sicily visit with homestyle cooking of a high standard and fine hospitality. Mixed antipasti with its delicate frying ,vflavorful pastas, Seafood and the green bean contorni all great. definitely reserve for weekends and evenings if you want a seat.
The trattoria provides a welcoming, quiet atmosphere with a friendly staff. I tried the fried vegetables, pesto pasta, and chocolate cake. While tasty, I didnt find the cuisine amazingly original or delicious. However, the trattoria does provide a solid meal and a comfortable atmosphere.
Loved this place. Pasta was delicious and the 0,5l red house wine was fabulous. The pastas was around 8 ~ 10 euro and the half a liter red wine 6 euro. Staff is super nice too.
Very good food and not so expensive! Ill go there again to try the rest!
Very authentic Sicilian with a cool history. Prices are reasonable (8-12 Eurwith a great selection of wine, beer and other spirits. Food was top notch. The ravioli I had was cooked perfectly. We went on a Friday night and there was no wait.
Great restaurant! We told them we are vegetarians and they did a lot to serve us local Sicilian food. Great eggplant dishes and very different from the typical Italian pasta&pizza. For Italy, the toilet is clean.Highly recommended!
