A great authentic place to spend an evening and have a dinner in Lviv, tasty cuisine and a small exhibition place where you can also take a look at contemporary art

Mediocre food, slow service, and no actually as cozy/atmospheric as such reconstructed places tend to be. Weirdly overrated.

By far, this is my favorite place in Lviv, especially in a bad weather. It’s comfortably lit, the food is like my Grandmother’s, and the staff is always friendly and efficient. Love this place!

Trapezna Idey is by far the best restaurant where I have eaten in Lviv! A wonderful soft beef, great traditional dumplings, good wine and the kindness of the maître

My boyfriend and I got a really bad food poisoning from this place. We had the pork ribs for lunch and while we were eating we were already talking about that it might not be cooked properly. It seemed like it was old and warmed up but not completely cooked through. The taste wasn’t good either. In the evening that same day we both started to feel really bad and our stomach sickness lasted for nearly a week. I didn’t eat anything else that day so I’m 99% sure we got our food poisoning from this place. Be aware!

This is a wonderful place with local cuisine of Galicia! Great service and super delicious food together with atmospheric space give unforgettably pleasant impression !

Wonderful place tucked away in the basement of the monastery. The entrance is in the glass artist shop and down the stairs.A wonderful medieval feel in the stone cellar. You can get authentic dishes from three hundred years ago.I like the sausage. The pear and ham salad is gorgeous. A must visit if you are in Lviv for a few days

Simply the best place in Lviv. Their onion pie and their bograch soup are their best dishes. The atmosphere is superb, second to none.

Here you can enjoy a very tasty hot wine, prepared with special herbs, as it was in old times, following special receipts.It is served in a wooden goblet.If you like hot wine - visit this restaurant for sure.The restaurant is located in the basement of former Bernardin monastery.Ancient thick and strong walks will help to enjoy Lviv places of interest.And the menu is written in Ukrainian, used in Galicia many many years ago. Before WWI.Enjoy.

We went at 1pm on a Sunday. The server told us not to order certain dishes (outside of soup & mainsbecause the wait would be upwards of 40 minutes - we then proceeded to wait 40 minutes for our soup. The soup was fine, the main dishes (potato pancakeswere not good. The server forgot our drinks (water & mulled wine).

Onion pie is heavenly delicious.

I liked this place a lot!!! Very interesting medieval, religious theme, perfectly balanced classical music and of course delicious food. Glad to be able to admit another rare 5 star rating.

Nice little restaurant in a historical spot - I especially recommend their rabbit ! Overall quite affordable + nice little gallery at the entrance where they sell all sorts of ceramics etc (not sure it belongs to them, but still). The location is quite central, but it might be a little difficult to find, as the restaurant is underground, beneath the church.

I honestly was expecting such great things after reading so many positive reviews and i have to say the food i ordered was absolutely terrible.The english menu is an absolute disaster and im not sure what happened with the translations but what ordered was nothing like i expected.I ordered fish and vegetables and the potato buckwheat pie.. Definitely not a pie in the slightest. more like soggy potato bread with a wierd sauce that was not mentioned on the menu...The fish ... similar to frozen fish from the supermarket..soggy batter..topped with ALOT of cheese and then topped with some tomato sauce with red pepper. Not exactly fish with veg. Tasted horrible and i left most of it. Nothing about cheese on the menu either..Redeeming factor was the waiter was pleasant and the setting had a good atmosphere to it.

Dont recomend this place for whenever its a hot sunny day outside, since it gets a bit stuffy inside, but the food is preety awesome for the most part ! Takes a long time to get served however, and waiters were not exactly the friendliest bunch ! The ambience inside is great too if a bit too dark

If you want to eat something ukrainian, you can try pierogi or kopytka. The food is good but not amazing. Therere definitely other, better places to eat in.

I could not praise them enough! I was looking for an authentic Ukrainian food and its definitely the one. Portions are fairly big, after soup i was already full. (Goulash soup was amazingBut the main course just killed it. Service was great and prices even better. If i would ever come back to Ukraine this place would definitely be my number 1. Well done guys!

Its located at the back of a monastery and you go through a shop to be able to enter to the restaurant. There is a slight smell of humidity inside. The atmosphere is nice though: renaissance era music with the matching interior design...The staff speak English enough to take orders. But the menu here is -with all due respect- terrible! Its not categorized well and doesnt explain the dishes clearly. Eventually, you find yourself asking things about the menu.I went this restaurant because of a recommendation of a friend. Ive been told how good the food was, so my expectations were high. However, it didnt match it. The food was barely average and service was slow.I believe there are much better restaurants around the same prices in Lviv. If I were you I would have chosen one of those.

Didn’t have a lot of items on the menu. It’s dump and hot underground. You need to go upstairs to the toilet. Food was bland and so was the service.

Most delicious local Galician food!Though not very easy to find (just go to the exhibition and take the stairs down), its absolutely worth a visit! They have a wonderful menu of local specialities of Galychyna (Lvivregion in excellent preparation.The prices will pleasantly surprised you, so will the menu card incl. the "dictionary".Dont miss out to try great local food! Their borsch is the perfection itself /

We had a simple, delicious meal here last week. We both enjoyed the seasonal vegetable soup, cabbage salad and potato pancakes. We preferred the mushroom pancakes over the cheese but both were delicious. The beer was great. The red monastic wine was passable but for the price it’s very good. Cool ambiance in the historic cellar/monastery, hand blown glasses and carafes, earth ware and silverware. Our server was attentive. Great value.

Perfect “banosh”, good beer and sweet price! If you don’t have mood and time to get up early and have a breakfast come here directly at the opening at 11:00 and have your dinner ;)

Loved everything about the place, it is in the basement, classical music is played and it has this monastery feel. The menu is quite big and includes many traditional Ukrainian dishes as well as many other options. Decent vegetarian selection too. The prices are very reasonable and the food is very tasty, we visited multiple times during our Lviv visit.

Great authentic food, and the place itself, service is average, but this is usual for other places as well. Anyway it is 5 for overall experience. Self made wine is tasty, I can also recommend banush, bograch, and onion pie

5 stars vibe filled in the basement. Not too expensive. Ribs are not in BBQ sauce. Coffee is 2 stars. Local non alcohol beer was a rare stuff.

Lovely place with its own atmosphere and community. If you are wondering to taste truly traditional Galician cousin this place will impress you well. The style of serving the tables, handmade plates and cups will accentuate on the dishes and it would unforgettable memories.Highly recommended for visitors who like gourmet kitchen or wants to explore deeply Lviv from different sides.

Very friendly staff, great food and very nice atmosphere. It is true that finding the entry is not especially easy. it would help if there was sign in English. Prices are ok. We had a very nice meal and drinks for two which cost us just a little more 500 uah. Recommended.

Yummy appetizers and amazing chicken grilled meat! Service is not as great as I would expect it to be. Servers’ heads are always somewhere else as though they are dreaming

The place is hard to find in a back entrance of a church. The waiters were disinterested, couldnt speak proper English. Furthermore, half of the menu wasnt available anymore although it was 2 hours before closing. Two salads which were ordered, were served on one plate, thats illogical, and not okay. The main dish was very small and not very hot. Wifi wasnt working properly, cell phone connection isnt available in the cellar. Credit Card payment only at the front desk available. All in all, disappointing restaurant and overrated.

We came to this place, because we seen good opiniom, but unfortunatelly we were treaten very unkind. There was very rainy and we were all wet, and also tired, we just want to eat in calm place. We took the place, but stuff told us that we cant stay here, cuz there is not enough space to move ( there was over 1 meter between our chair and next chair). We asked about other table which was reserved at 4 p.m. (there was 2:45 p. m.but they didnt agree to took it ( 1 hour is enough to eat dinner for us). We will never come here again for sure.

Meal was most delicious. We had pork, lamb and beef and all of them are pure delights. Prices are also good. The place was out of time. A must visit.

Special atmosphere, the place is underground under old monk monastery and near the museum of ideas. They have menu in English, great borsh with a dried plums and delicious onion pie. Will come back here for sure.

Looks like the entrance of a museum and is this slightly hard to discover.It is a comfy restaurant in a basement with masonry vaults and rustic decoration.The food is tasty and made according to old recipes. Not everything may be in season and available. We enjoyed lamb in pomegranate sauce, fish in horseradish.

You have to got here. A real hidden gem of the city. In this very atmospheric place you will be offered an exquisite ancient dishes of moncs who used to live in the monastery nearby. Everything is very tasty, like, very (even when I writing still can feel the taste). Also there is a big choice of home made alcohol - drinking worthy :What is especially valuable, is that while you are waiting for the meal,you can walk through the art gallery, which is situated in an ancient underground halls. Also,upstairs, there is a small shop of interior things made of glass,like cups, plates,candles - everything made in Lviv. So,a hidden gem!

Inarguably the best place in the city. Atmospheric, authentic and whats really important - the food is out of this world. Ive been visiting it for years, since the time when noone actually knew it was there. In a place like this you can forgive every little trouble, because the overall impression is to be remembered for life.They offer traditional cuisine, every bit as delicious as if your own mother/grandmother (in other words, the one who cooks best in your familymade it for you. Combined with some mulled wine or dried fruit beverage, it all makes a festival for your tastebuds. Whatever youre taking, be sure to ask about their cheese-onion pie. Chief Ramsay himself would probably say "rustic", but eat the whole plate, Im telling you!I will recommend this place to anyone visiting the city. Just go there! You will be satisfied.Update 25/10/2017. The place became a little more popular and a little less perfect. Right now I dont really know if Id give it 5 stars.

The food was delicious and the atmosphere was cool (basement of a church). English menu available. Its cheap (300 hryvna for 2 including beerand only loses points for the servers not being so nice. There is no seating host when you walk in, just grab an empty table if available.

An absolute MUST to visit in Lviv!This little restaurant is a hidden gem.The menu is written with a Ukrainian Galician tint, with local specific dialect and designed to represent the culture. Reading it in itself is an experience worth having!The food is delicious, even though the portions are not too big. However, this allows to order a few different things to try! The menu states portion sizes as "10 deka" or "30 deka" where "deka" is 10 grams, so portions are 100 or 300 grams (for example).Lunch here for 2 people could easily fit in 10 euros.The interior of the restaurant is also fantastic. Includes authentic stone walls, icons, old wooden furniture and metal lamps. It overall feels like dining in a monastery hall!Fantastic and a must visit.

Several years ago this place was only known by locals. Now it becomes popular and looses local flavour. Still good food and local drinks. No noise. Small place for friend and family.

A good place with astonishing unique cuisine. Tasty desserts and delicious tea. Craft wine is said to be amazing as well. However its is quite cold there in winter and early spring.

Ive read some reviews about this place, and Ive decided to give it a try. Never been to a better place before. The atmosphere is great, the food is delightful. You HAVE to try their onion pie. Garbokh (mushroom soupis so delicious, and their lamb with pomegranate sauce is cooked to perfection, all this, at affordable prices.
