Guided tours, hands-on exhibits & test-driving electric/hybrid vehicles at VW's Transparent Factory.
Hopefully Ill win an ID3.
Friendly employees. Wed arrived without prior booking... Two time slots available for English tours, so we came back for a later time. The young man on the demo car floor was very informative about the models and answered all our questions. Great peek inside VW production.
We came here with high expectations, but unfortunately we didnt look at the bad reviews. They were very on point. If you dont speak German, avoid at all cost. They only had 1 English tour in like 4 hours. When we offered to just follow the German one, they said no need, just watch on your own. When we took an elevator and someone asked what floor, we said up, only to have a guide suddenly in a very rude way questioning why we were there. Her name tag has heike on it. The way she approached me and my husband felt very racist. We werent doing anything wrong, there were no signs and people were giving conflicting messages. You just lost a customer and we wont use your brand for our company. As an international brand you should be ashamed of how you treat foreigners. Youre lucky were not pressing charges.
This factory produces Volkswagen electric cars and it allows visitors to enter the actual production floor. Unfortunately, photos are not permitted on the actual production floors. These photos are all from the public area but they can give a hint how interesting the production is.
Me and my family wanted to see the production tour, but there weren’t any tours in english. The whole saturday they didn’t have a single tour in english. We asked if we could take it anyway but they didn’t let us (because of security measures)
the best designed and most beatiful factory of germany.. 🎄🌲
Loved the tour! Saw a lot of the assembly, reccomendation to visit!
Definitely worth a visit
Very nice
Total rubbish and time wasting.Staff is racist and unfriendly.Dont waste your time going there without an online booking, even if you try to book it online, there are tours only available in German. If you want to get in into a German tour, they wont let you if you dont speak German. Not even to have a look around and take some pics.Dont waste your time going there.Complete 🐂💩 and racist.
Amazing museum and factory. Must visit for car lovers. Hats off to volkswagen.
The building is engaging because of its architecture and the interactive exhibit in the entrance and on the first floor. However, I would advise against booking an hour-long guided tour. The information given by the guides is basic and mostly self-explanatory. You are only shown a small portion of the factory, but because of the many floors the factory has, understanding where and how the vehicle is built, is quite confusing. A large portion of the tour is devoted to praising Volkswagen, rather than providing in depth technical information. In conclusion, I would visit the freely accessible parts of the building and skip the tour.
Unguided tour is just a scam so you can pay 3,90 euros just to see one room with two concept cars inside. I was told by the receptionist that I could take the hole tour, except the guide. Not recommended at all.
We paid 4 euros to see nothing more than one marketing clip and 4 cars. Without a tour guide its totally useless, overpaid and not recommendable at all.
What a nice place for the factory of the future.. my host William, superb.. visited production of eGolf and he described everything in any detail
Recommendable to go during the working times of the factory. Unfortunately we went when the lines were stopped and, although already quite impressive, it has to be much more when the cars are being mounted. And in my opinion only worth it when you have a guided tour, so you can actually enter the shop floor and see different parts of the assembly cycles. Without the tour it is not really worth it for the price.
Nice place to learn future car. Now they’re demonstrating manufacture of electric car.
Without a factory tour theres almost nothing to see in the forum. I dont understand what visitors have to pay for (around 3 €). In contrast, the BMW world in Munich has free entrance and offers many more cars and interactive exhibits
Interessant tour with limited explanation on e-mobility. It is all about e-cars and especially the Volkswagens. So no center of future mobility: better center of future cars. It felt like like a 1 hour sales talk. And we paid 19 euros for it...
The guided tour is definitely a must have for those interested in assembly facilities and processes!
Waste of time - at least the English language tour. The guide was useless, full of himself, and didnt share much. When asked questions - he either didnt know the answers or made up some absurd claims like the price for the ID3 "more expensive than Tesla, around 100k EUR".Overall, I fell that you pay for seeing a VW commercial. It should make me want to buy a VW car, but after this experience - never.
Great experience , awesome cars , kind people
Great visitor experience. Did the guided tour and the guide was very informative. Really good viewing of the assembly and the show room is also very interesting. Tour went for approx 2 hours and then spent another 30 minutes viewing the show room. Well worth the price.
It was great to see how electric cars are manufactured. We can see some autonomous cars which will come into market by 2025-30. They are using robots for assembling some parts. Virtual car driving was good and funny.
WV is doing great for future. Nice concept and design
Wonderful tour! The guide was very professional. He could answer any questions with confidence.
"Center of Future Mobility" that even from the outside fully lives up to its name. I was not on any excursions or something like that, just walked past the center to the park, which was my goal, but could not just pass by... I really liked the design of the building and the parking with charging stations for electric cars nearby. I got acquainted with the site of the center, and decided, nevertheless, to write a general review. General first impression, if you will: If you are interested in a similar topic, if you like cars - do not miss the opportunity to get acquainted with this place.
Terrible tour guide- not informative, rude and doesnt take questions. Also production line is not running in Saturday, which was not clearly mentioned on their website. Very disappointed.
The glass Factory. The name says everything about this factory and building. It is amazing! You can see all the process trough the glass walls. Impeccable car assembly line. There is also an exhibition space where you can see their R&D developements.
very innovative factory of Volkswagen! We had an hour guided tour through the factory and the production line. Here produce the new electric cars,we also saw the very early model of electric cars and the most recent e-cars. wonderful tour in Volkswagen glass factory!
You can buy nice souvenirs and see how car parts became cars.
Really good English tour. Got a great overview of the place. Although it was Sunday and the productions were closed
Was a great experience even on a Sunday when production not happening. May not be the experience you get in the larger varied factories but we were really impressed and happy to see whats happening now and in the immediate future... Very excited for future tech and Volkswagens comments to make it reality. Aussie guide was very knowledgeable and shared great insight.
A great experience to understand the future of mobility in the world
An amazing experience for those who are into cars, renewable energy sources, engineering or manufacturing. The factory is more of a museum but there are cars still assembled there and you can see the entire process. Take the guided tour and explore the efforts Volkswagen has made from the 70s until today to produce electric cars.
Great experience, take the guided tour to know the process of assembling a car and the brand new features for electric and autonomous cars.
It is a unique place! As for men, I think it is the first place to visit in Dresden. You will be involved in the manufacturing process of electric car and for sure you’ll enjoy it.
Very interesting place! Must visit in Dresden. It is so clean and inside you can take an excursions a look at the whole manufacturing process. It is not allowed to take a photo.
Nice place to see, how electro cars are manufactured.
I never thought that I would actually be excited about a car manufacture. But this one is special, as the guided tour lets you walk through the production, and you get to see how the electric golf gets put together piece by piece, partly by workers, but also by robots. Also has an exhibit about the future of mobility worth seeing as well.
Ohh, what a waste of time.First - I must say that before that place we have been to VW in Wolfsburg and Audi in Ingolstadt, so we had that places in mind.We came with our kids (3.5, 6.5 and 9.5and the dissapointment was huge - the tour (lasts about an houris mostly talking, hardly seeing cars being built. Our kids (and not just ourswere bored immediately, and for the whole short tour.Very little model cars where you can get into (2-3, not sure), and the gift shop is tiny and very expensive. Now, in these other places mentioned above, the tour is absolutly amazing - people and machines in motion, lots of fun for kids and for adults as well. Excellent gift shops for souvenirs, all those things that make a place worth the visit. Here in Dresden - Nothing!Bottom line - waste of time, huge dissapoitment.
The tour is amazing and must go for car lovers,Free car parking near by.Lovely guides that gives you all the information needed and make sure everyone sees everything.
they produce 72 e-golfs a day (cool). i would advice you to go on a working day so that you can see the manufacturing on process. in weekend they don’t produce any cars
It was surprising to find a car factory in the middle of the city and even more surprising to have loved it so much. The tour takes you through an active factory and you get to see everything about how a car is built. There is also an interactive display with cars of the past and the future. The entire experience was great. Dont forget to try the famous curry sausage in the cafe. It has its own part number and is the best selling Volkswagen product ever.
They were making electric VW Golf cars during my visit. I really enjoyed the tour and had a guide in explain everything in English. I would recommend this tour if youd like to get an idea of how a car is built. Its a little slower than other assembly lines, but the idea is not speed but more so that tourists and visitors can see the car building process.
Worth the tour! English tours are usually at 12 pm and 3 pm.
I did not get the chance to perform a complete tour of the factory but even a short visit is worthy!!
Last English guided tour for Mon to fri begins at 3pm and takes around 75min. Otherwise, German guided tours are available every hour. Do call ahead for updates on the tour time. You cannot get into the core of the factory without joining the tour.
When you have had enough of the heavy war history of Germany, visit this VW museum for a diversion. While this factory ceased manufacturing the Phaeton in the spring of 2016, it is nevertheless a gorgeous museum.Tip: Ask for a test drive of their electric car.
Gone is the Phaeton production and now it hosts a temporary tour that mixes Phaeton production (for the 1st time one gets to walk on the production floors), electric mobility (future of VW production hereand auto manufacturing in Saxony. It is a quite informative and interesting tour that people other than car geeks will also like.
