The museum is literally dark and has a grim atmosphere that helps to convey its message. It is quite small but they have a lot of objects and you receive a tablet with spoken explanations and demonstrative videos so you can spend a decent amount of time there. Whether you like it or not, it is certainly an experience that you wont get anywhere else

It was really interesting to go through the museum with an interactive tablet with a full description of each torture item and photos and videos when available. The fact that we could touch and play with the tools also adds a nice touch to the disturbing ambiance. You need to note that in terms of size, the museum is quite small so if you plan to do a very quick tour you might get disappointed. But if you go through each part and read about it like me then it can take you more than an hour which is fair.

Kind of small, the tablets are a cool feature but kind of finicky. Bummer that there is no student discount.

Really small museum (not even a whole floor), not much to see. They give you a tablet to scan at each exhibit, which was nice, but not all of them worked. No customer toilet either....

Definitely recommended - especially for history lovers or else those who perhaps are interested to get to know a bit about the dark side of mankind. They gave us tablets which explained each piece thoroughly - which definitely made our experience much better. Also, this was available in 5 or 6 languages. Tickets are fairly cheap at around €6 each (there are good deals for families and groups- so definitely recommend giving it a go if youre anywhere around Zagrebs upper town 😀

We had such a good experience at the museum. It was really interesting to see all the collection, and thanks to the interactive tablets provided - we could understand better how, when and why each piece was used. Its a vivid reminder of the dark history of mankind - the sad but true (ongoinghistory. Definitely recommend visiting whilst in Zagreb!

Despite it being an interesting place I wouldn’t exactly call it a museum as none of the artefacts were genuine. There’s far better museums to visit in Zagreb so wouldn’t rush to see it.

There are plenty of medieval torture devices, however Im quite sure none of them is authentic in terms of their origin. Probably they were made only to be put in the museum.Atmosphere in the museum is just as it needs to be in such a place.

Interesting place to stop by if you have time. Definitely not a must see but if around the area and have some spare time and interest it can be interesting! Slightly gruesome of its nature and not very interactive, or clear where/if youre allowed to take photos as some of the things there seen like photo opportunities. You get a tablet which you scan different NFC points around the room and it tells you in detail about the objects with text and voice. Also some images and videos on some of the objects which can show you how it may have been used in the past.

It is a small museum in the city centre of Zagreb. The setting is nice as you get into a dark and gloomy room with a surround sound of screams and tortured people. The visit takes max 1 hour and family ticket costs 100 Kuna. You get a tablet that works with NFC technology, so you get info, pics and videos in several languages by placing the device next to each torture tool.It is not the must-to-see in the city but can be an option for an unusual exhibit.

Its a museum about torture, not for the feint hearted and probably dont bring the kids! It was interesting and made me greatly appreciate the life I can lead and my freedom as a woman today. However the museum is smaller than expected, should be cheaper for the size and its very eurocentric, was hoping to see more global torture methods!

If youre wanting to find out about lots of different torture devices then this place is great. However at the end of the museum there was a video which showed hundreds of images of people being tortured now including an Isis video of people being drowned in a cage. I feel really sick now and upset. The video didnt cut away and was too much for me..If you go to the museum stick to the iPad and exhibition and dont watch the video.

Interesting in a macabre way. Not a massive amount here, and not a massive amount of information about what is there, but what is there is good enough to keep it enjoyable.

Pretty unique place with a good variety. its dark inside and it plays into the torture devices. The admission counter gives you a tablet that explains all the torture devices. The tablet has pictures of torture device use and it uses a sensor to tell you about the device you are close too.

Mixed feelings about this. Its kind of interesting to see but rather small and its very dark inside, making it difficult to get around at times. The same music and sounds on repeat start to really grate on your nerves after a while. But my biggest complaint is the lack of information. They explain what each device does and thats it. The opportunity to provide context and help the visitor learn something from all this was missed. Unless youre a teenager whos into Goth metal, I think your time and money could be better spent elsewhere!

Tiny and somewhat macabre (what did you expectmuseum with all kinds of interesting exhibits. Although in principle a good idea, working with tablets and scanning items to get info wasnt that easy. The focus of this exhibition was on the medieval and lacked insight into modern practice.

None of the items on display are authentic, which was quite disappointing. Though there was quite a lot of information about each object. It was informative overall, but I thought since it was a museum, there would be some real antique torture devices. The price was cheap though. Kind of worth checking out if youre nearby

Small, but very interesting. You can see all of the torture devices used through the history. You get the tablet and you get all the info on tablet by scanning the code next to the exponent. There is also a torture chamber which was amazing.Staff polite and very chatty. The girl was so nice! Not wheelchair accessible unfortunately, and no pets allowed obviously.Prices average: for adults 40kn, for students 30kn, online tickets for adults 30kn.Working hours until 19h.All the other info on their web page. :)

The museum offers a small collection of the middle ages torture devices, all of them are replicas and next to each one there is a short description that comes with a QR code which you will be able to scan with a tablet they give you. Plenty of tourists come by and the staff speak English and welcome everyone with a dose of mystery. I guess you have to visit and see for yourself. If youre a fan of the period, I guess you will like it. As I am.not a fan, I did not particularly enjoy the visit and was disappointed with the size, since the lady at the entrance said we would need half an hour to see everything. I was done in about 10minutes, but did not read all the descriptions since I did not want to have nightmares... (Kidding. Or not?!Great idea for a museum and I appreciate the effort. I would not visit it again. :)

This was a great little museum. Instead of reading little plaques, you are handed a tablet when you enter, which you used to scan the different exhibits and you read about them on the tablet. Although its a small museum its well-curated and thought out. And the ambience is incredible, with creepy music playing overhead the entire time!

Really quite gruesome display of the instruments of torture and execution. Needed a beer when I came out. Well presented display in darkened rooms with spot lights on the specific items and a background music track of monastic chanting to add to the atmosphere. Can easily spend an hour here reading about each of the exhibits, even though not a very large museum

Small museum with reasonably made replica props on display. Not a lot of information about each exhibit, although the tablet you use to read about the displays was novel and worked well, as the museum would be too dark for posted notices and it offered a wider range of languages to choose from. Mostly it felt like a group of friends wanted to record themselves dressing in cloaks and pretending to torture one another. Also they refused our student IDs. Very small, we were in and out having covered everything in around 20 minutes.

The lady at the entrance was so arrogant. She made me turn my back on this museum in less than a second. They have to talk some sense into her or hire someone else or theyre gonna lose a ton of potential clients.I will personnally ensure that no one I know goes there.

I loved this odd place. It is very small and is too dark. I understand the need for darkness to affect the mood required, but its too dark to see what youre looking at adequately and to see where youre going EXACTLY. There is a short, silent video at the end. I recognized many images from the "Faces of Death" videos of my youth. Its nothing gruesome but conveys the terror we as humans are capable of inflicting on others (and filming it). I left with tears in my eyes. Bravo to the creators for coming up with this idea that hits you right in the gut IF you watch the video. Most people pass it by. Dont.
