鶏金 Torikin - Authentic Japanese Restaurant in Singapore, Singapore
Authentic Kyushu style chicken hotpot with superb flavor and texture stock. The homemade tofu is a must with a cheese like texture. Great service staff who took the time to help us decide what to order.
There arent many Japanese restaurants in Singapore that will serve this very special and hard to prepare dish from Kyushu. It takes a lot of hard work and dedication. Not easily copied by other restaurants.Torikin offers delicious chicken collagen hot pot amongst many other specialty foods. The chicken collagen pot is must try, for that delicious and glutinous textured stock and absolutely top quality fresh chicken meat. Despite its plain taste, its extremely difficult to cook to perfection. Its heart warming and satisfying.Service is wonderful and efficient. We were lucky to be served by a friendly Singaporean lady Theresa, who is very friendly and patient in recommending is what to try, and took time to serve us the hot pot. Otherwise, we wouldnt know where to start and when to do what. She added to the perfection of the wonderful evening. For my friends birthday, Torikin so generously gave my friend a lovely ice cream with a candle and sing song, which was a very lovely surprise. We will definitely come again and highly recommend to everyone.
The collagen chicken hotpot here is just delicious heartwarming soul food. The chicken tempura was also great, crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside.Waiting time was a bit long but understandable as they were understaffed. Hopefully the waiting time will improve on my next visit!
not so bad for me, service overall was ok.. we were here for lunch and the collagen hotpot was at the mild level for broth so I understand why some cant stand the thickness sticky of it. but standards still the same. total pricing wise also not bad, so its just okok
Great experience and commendable service by Theresa!
Had an amazing time at Torikin with their high quality meat, broth and service! Credit to Theresa for her dedication and service to us last night, its unforgettable!
We had a family birthday celebration this evening. We had a wonderful time, thanks to Theresa! She was so warm and thoughtful. We truly enjoyed our dinner 👍
We came here for my husbands birthday. The food is nice, the soup is very thick and yummy. The service is abit alow because they are short handled. But Theresa is outstanding, good customer service. She made us and my kids feel very happy and comfortable while waiting for the foods. Thank you!
Thanks Theresa for the excellent service. The collagen hotpot and homemade tofu were exceptional.
Tried the chicken collagen hotpot. Cooked for 8 hours... yum... tasty and full of collagen. You can add some salt, spring onion and or ponzu sauce.Good to add some ponzu sauce to your chicken as the chicken is not pre-seasoned.Understand the chicken is from sapporo. You can end with porridge or ramen.Crab croquettes are tasty too.So is the strawberry ice cream.. a lovely end to the wonderful meal ;)Will be back again.
Thank you Theresa for the wonderful service. Food was really yummy and exceed expectation. Would definitely return for their hotpot! Absolutely great for a rainy day. :)
Homemade tofu was amazing! And the chicken collagen hotpot!
Worst service from ignorant waitress and longest wait time of 1.5 hours to cook one simple hotpot. Never come again! :(((((((
The restaurant crew couldn’t keep up with how busy the restaurant was - we were very disappointed with how our meal had to take more two hours to complete, and in a very poor manner. And as our meal had incredibly long pauses in between - we had the chance to observe:1. We were seated on the second floor and it was severely understaffed - no one came up to make us understand that our meal experience will be suboptimal.2. Staff who came to support was very selective and never for once, stopped by our table to check what we might need - we have been waiting for a good hour for our nabe to arrive.3. When questioned, no one came forward to resolve customer complaints and worse still - everyone avoided contact (and eye contact!with us, and dismissed us with very hasty, hushed “sorry”.This is our second time visiting and food has been great, but no amount of good food would make up for the lack of service - we’ve been treated very poorly and in an inferior way compared to Japanese speaking or repeat customers. It seems like there are Japanese speaking staff around make sure Japanese speaking customers are taken good care of, but these staff should have the integrity and teamwork to step forward and support other crew members during busy times - be wary and look out for the server named “Coco”. Our entire night was very much ruined because of her and her poor attitude when handling our dismay.
The chicken collagen hotpot taste good. The best was their homemade tofu.Sashimi was fresh too!!A nabe shop which Japanese frequents.Legit!
Great Japanese spot for healthy and hearty sukiyaki broths with lots of drink options. The service and team was attentive and very nice, with good conversation and energy. The manage the sukiyaki or shabu shabu for you, added bonus. Aires were nice and drinks werent overly priced. Id be back for sure to try more and test the sashimi! Enjoy ! Thanks again !
Highly recommend the homemade tofu, the beef intestines soup, wagyu beef Shabu shabu.. staff super friendly and attentive!
Having our pre-Valentine meal here. It’s very nice environment and friendly staff too! Beef intestine hotpot really surprise me, the taste is good!
Very impressed with the service, we had a pleasant lunch at Torikin. Recommend the homemade tofu, love the cheese-like texture. We had original chicken collagen hotpot, lips became sticky because of the collagen.
I am so sorry, I heard good things about this place. Ok, it was slightly on the pricy side for a Japanese restaurant (which are usually a little more expensive anyway). There was nothing special about the food...average rating, and the service was slow as...we were starving waiting for the food. Maybe I picked a bad day, but will not be recommending this place...sorry.
BEST HOMEMADE TOFU!! And ofcourse chicken nabe too!
Amazing quality of the foods, taste authentic. Better try motsu nabe.
Had a great dining experience here. Foods very flavourful especially when each dish have some form of sauce to accompany it. Sure sure sure great Japanese food is plenty here in Singapore but what sets this place apart from the rest is that I got called a dear beloved friend. Not even my mom calls me that. What happened next is that I was called by my name, no please once you have reached the dear beloved friend level, being called by your name seems to be too basic.Wait staff was delightfully entertaining given that the restaurant is packed (COVID-19 5 pax rule packedand yet they still go table to table to cook for you, serve your (dear beloved friend unworthyself and also provide some words of wisdom. The words of wisdom I received was that the secret to lasting relationships is mutual respect and men having to have multiple (good intentionsurprises up their sleevesI digress, would come back here again to try their other hot pot flavours and who knows get more words of wisdom-Once Torikin Dear Beloved friend...
Lovely food! They also serve home made tofu, very nice.We ordered vollagen chicken soup, and they serve porridge after that.I was too full post meal.recommend to prepare your stomach first ^^
I have been coming here every few months for many years. It’s no wonder why many Japanese patronise it too. The hotpot quality is consistent and high. Try the homemade tofu and gyoza, both are excellent.
Food is decent but the manager is one helluva rude. When a customer asked if you can adjust the seating arrangement, the least you should do is to explain nicely and not by rolling your eyes incessantly and speaking in a condescending manner. I am there to enjoy a dinner and not to be spoken down on. As a service staff, much less, a manager, you should know how to manage your own service level!
Definitely loved all the dishes we ordered! Especially the homemade tofu: the texture is more like creamy pudding, which melts in the mouth; the tofu itself has rich taste of soy bean and cream cheese; the ingredients of soy sauce, seaweed and yuzu perfectly match the tofu. It was soooo nice that we ordered a second plate. The signature mizutaki was more delicious than the ones I tried in Fukuoka before. Actually the best i ever had. The chicken was very tender and the broth is nicely rich in flavor.Would love to revisit soon.
The food is fresh, good experience to have waitress to serve.
Food is top-notch service wise can be improve, staff were friendly but too many unnecessary internal chatting.
Flavourful soup not bad. 😊
Food felt homely and was very yummy (especially the yuzu sambal). Great service as well. Will be back in future!Pictured:- Homemade Tofu- Mentaiko Egg Roll- Hakata Small Gyoza- Crab Cream Croquette- Hakata Collagen Mizutaki (Add Porridge)
First time here and we liked the ambience. The food recommended was amazing. We especially loved the home made tofu on top of all their amazing nabe dishes. Wait staff Theresa was really pleasant and patient in explaining the dishes and her recommendation which adds on to the already great food. Good place for family or even just a night out for drinks and nice authentic Japanese food. The Japanese clientele there is testament to the authenticity to the Japanese cuisine served there. Good job!
The collagen chicken soup tasted really yummy but the Gohan porridge served last was a disappointment that I didn’t even take a pic. Next time will try ramen instead
Thank you for the excellent experience, especially the improvised birthday cake created by the staff to celebrate my son’s birthday.Top quality service, attentive staff.A fantastic place to dine.
Must try the homemade tofu it’s 8 SGD but I have the same food at super expensive omakase before it tasted the same. The texture of this tofu will blow your mind. But my family doesn’t like it. I like 👍🏽Mentaigo undo is cheesy and portion is like a side dishes but I love it.The chicken gyoza is damnnnn good must order!!!Collagens mizutaki must order as well and must choose rice because after you have everything they will make porridge for you.Btw the servers were very friendly and they cook the collagens misutaki for my family so that we can enjoy other food we order.I sat at second floors with family of 7 on 24 April 2021.I definitely recommend this restaurant and I will visit again soon!
Been to Torikin twice and both times my taste buds are delighted by the food here. Ordered 2 different kinds of hotpot. One is the classic chicken, and the other is the wagyu intestines. Both are so good but the broth can get salty towards the end. Must order side dishes are the homemade tofu, tsukune, and pork belly. Lots of Japanese visit here it seems, so I guess there’s authenticity. Nice place for food and chilling. Must make reservations as I’ve seen them turning people away during dinner hours.
The mizutaki collagen chicken hotpot is comfort food for the soul. Restaurant has a warm cozy environment which is nice. Service is prompt too.
Good services, environment and delicious food.Definitely will visit again.
Food is on the pricy side, but given to where it is located. I believe it to be pretty okay. Food and service is really good.
Excellent place for sukiyaki and collagen hotpot. The price point is on the high side, but the quality of the ingredients are well worth the price. The sukiyaki sauce is well balanced and the glass noodles and the onion being the best part of the dish as they soaked up the lovely sukiyaki sauce. The chicken collagen hot pot is flavourful and not oily. The shio ponzu which came with the hotpot is excellent, bringing out the flavours of the ingredients without overpowering them. The porridge at the end is the highlight, soaking up all the rich broth.Ordered a kinki (not the red one though),half served as sashimi, and half grilled. The fish was fresh and well grilled. The plus point, it only cost $48, which is a very reasonable price.Service is prompt and the staff are really friendly, its a great place to go as a group.
Great place for beef intestines fans! The fish roe + beef intestines hotpot was great with flavorful broth, high quality and generous servings of beef intestines. One suggestion for the restaurant is to leave part of the intestines/vegie out of the hotpot so they can be dipped in the hot pot gradually as the meal progresses. Dunking all of them in the soup right from the start will cause the intestines to be overcooked by the end of the meal (and too much fat oil to be released to the hot pot broth). Nevertheless very interesting hotpot menu and great flavor!
Came here and got the Mizutaki chicken broth for 2 people - you get chicken, veggies, and can finish off the soup with either rice or ramen! They don’t add MSG to their broth at all so it was a bit bland but the natural chicken taste was very much there (you can add salt & green onions yourself to adjust taste). The chicken itself was so, SO tender & really appetizing with their homemade ponzu sauce and Yuzu chili. We also got the vinegared oyster which was so YUMMY (wanted to get seconds but they sold out)! The best part was actually the service provided to us by the supervisor Theresa, she had great product knowledge, even told us the history of the restaurant, and went about and beyond with her humor. Would highly recommend this place for some authentic Japanese hotpot!
Tasty premium Japanese hot pot. Came here on recommendation from our other Japanese friends. Service was on point and we didnt even need to lift a finger to cook our meal. The presentation of the food was lovely. You have an option of congee or ramen for the balance of the hot pot soup. Congee was very flavourful.
Had their Signature Mizutaki Collagen Chicken Broth. The Sakura chicken used was really tender and flavourful, although the broth looks like it would be too oily it turned out to be just right with flavours that were focused on the natural chicken taste.Pairing sauces of red yuzu pepper and homemade ponzu was a perfect fit for the chicken and every mouthful gave off a warm, satisfying feeling. The remaining soup is used to cook a porridge to complete the meal. All that for just 35 a pax! 🌟It was also reassuring to see the place packed with Japanese diners!
Real Mizutaki, best ever in Singapore! Other than this signature hot pot, also Sashimi is quite good quallity. Highly recommend to enjoy with hot Sake.
Proactive staffs and great taste food. The chicken stock was nice!
Ordered the Motsunabe and their home made tofu.If you don’t know what motsunabe is, it is the fatty intestin of the cow. They use the wagyu intestines so the fat was very flavourful. I do no recommend it to people or girls who are Adverse to fatty food because this basically tastes like a while chunk of fat in your mouth. I personally love that fatty creamy wholesome flavour. The soup looks little but as it boils, it gets a little more. I would say it is slightly salty but good with beer. The homemade tofu is always a winner for me. It’s Super creamy but please do not pour all the soy sauce as it will most definitely be too salty.Service is good as well :)Overall a good experience.
Torikin offers a unique japanese cuisine, known for its unique Chicken Collagen Soup. A hearty meal with delicious sides makes for a dining experience like no other. Great ambiance for a date night. Be sure to make reservations !
Had their signature collage set at @37 per person. Comes with vegetables, Sakura chicken, mince meat balls, ramen. Similar to Bijin Nabe, but the soup was much thicker and yummier!
Very nice accidental find. Warm restaurant setting. Excellent service staff by the name of Maggie. Food was excellent, with quality ingredients. Ordered the vinegared octopus and the collagen chicken soup. The octopus was nice, chewy but not tough. The vinegar serves to improve your appetite. The chicken soup was nicely done, fragrant but not over the top oily. Paired with various condiments like yuzu sauce, yuzu chilli and chopped spring onion, the soup have a range of flavours depending on the pairing. The chicken pieces are tender. Finishing off, cooked Japanese rice was added to the remaining soup to form porridge. Through out the meal, the server was there to prepare and cook the soup right by the table. She offered suggestions on how to enjoy the dish which was much appreciated. Overall, a very nice experience at this restaurant.
