Sprawling area with 8 tennis courts, a playground & picnic areas, plus a nature center & trails.
My favorite park in the area. Great for a quick trip to the park and really great for young kids.I really loved the fact you can park close to the playground. Made it very easy for me with my nieces.
Beautiful 33 acre nature park with other activities. You feel like you’re in the wild while back on the dusty little trails even though it’s right in the city. This is me and my husband’s favorite place to visit every Sunday after church. Critters we typically see: squirrels, chipmunks, lizards, turtles, frogs, tadpoles, snakes, rabbits, birds, hawks, ducks, swans, Muscovy ducks, hummingbirds, carpenter bees, huge flying beetles, dragonflies, butterflies, catfish and minnows….the list goes on and on. Those are just the things we personally see on a regular basis. It’s quiet and beautifully maintained. The critters are used to people being around so although they are still wild, you can get a little closer to them to observe them in their natural environment without scaring them as much. I occasionally am able to hand feed a couple of squirrels there that know me.There’s a beautiful dock on one side of the park where you can feed the turtles, ducks, catfish and various birds. It’s got a great scenic view and the animals are always hungry for a treat. It’s always a feeding frenzy and everyone comes from across the pond to get in on the action. We often see others or we ourselves feed them bread, seeds and even little pieces of corn tortillas and they love it! Feed them your old Cheerios and watch the turtles “Hungry Hungry Hippo” them in record time with the little catfish swimming up from the bottom and across the turtles backs to eat them as well. 😂 It’s a lot of fun for the kids (and adults, let’s be real). LolThere are a few little dirt trails to walk on to just enjoy nature that we personally love. You can also walk or drive to the actual playground, the little train/dinosaur park or tennis courts as they are all in the same large park just in different areas. This is just a really fun place to go if you want to see the critters and enjoy some sunshine and nature without having to go far. It’s beautiful and makes me feel like I’m home in the mountains of Wyoming rather than in the middle of the city. These are some of the pictures I’ve taken of the critters there. Nature is incredible!! 🏜🐿🦎🐸🐢
So fun and gorgeous! I cant believe this is a public park. There are 2 playgrounds, tennis courts, outdoor amphitheater, nature walks - one along the River, and more! I dont even live here and I love to see the taxpayer dollars hard at work. Its so impressive! The playground Thunder Junction is a place Id pay to bring my child. You have to see it to believe it! Theres a 2-3 story dinosaur treehouse with slides. A splash pad with a cave. Zip lines and $1 train rides!Check the city of St. George website for kids camps activities and activities all year round!
Beautiful park with lots of family friendly fun.
Best park that we have been to so far!
Love this park. There is so much to do and see.
Great place to walk around, great place to bring the kids to feed the ducks and the turtles. Lots of squirrels and other wildlife! Shade, train ride, barbecue area, picnic tables good parking.
Very beautiful place to walk or relax and see all the ducks and turtles at this nice little pond oasis.
There is so much to this park, trails, picnic areas and TONS of shade.
Super fun for kids, has a place to eat fun for all ages
Great fun for kids, however very busy. Great for kids to stay busy for several hours with only 1 entrance and exit it gets very congested.
What a nice place for any age. This is a park for all abilities. We are in our 60s and loved walking around and seeing the kids have a lot of fun.
The nature center was awesome. Spotted Wood Ducks and a couple Aberts Towhee. Great birding location.
This is such a cute hidden gem! Lots of trails near the river. Great place to find birds!!
Random stop during long drive was so worth it! Great park to take the whole family! Wish all parks were this great!
Pretty cool place! awesome for kids like my nephews just tbh some things gotta be fixed and cleaned but other than that its solid!
This is a great park, volcano that makes noise and smokes out the top, water features with a little cave area under the waterfalls, covered picnic tables, dinosaur themed rides for little kids and a train you can pay for rides.Ones of the best parks in St George, if you looking for something to do with the kids give this a try. They will love it!
Great to know there is a fun park like this!!! my daughter had a great time here. If you have a time this fun. You can spend hours here. Thanks
So the park is broken into a few different sections, the play grounds, the courts and the nature walk area. Parks have great variety and are perfect for kids. I dont do anything at the courts and the nature area is great for birding and seeing waterfowl.
This was one of the most beautiful parks Ive ever been too! Its a great place to go for a peacful run, to play all sorts of sports, and perfect place for kids. Lots of new places to explore! Definitely recommend stopping at this park if you are ever in Saint George!
This is a nice facility, clean bathrooms and a drinking fountain. There are a couple large pavilions with picnic tables. The sand volleyball court has some great soft sand. Theres also a nice paved bike trail that was getting a lot of use while we were there. We were playing in a large grassy area and it was full of gopher holes, so there was a bit of a rolled ankle hazard. All in all, a pretty nice park.
This park is amazing! They have a water area and lots of slides. They also have a train you can ride. It does cost money but it is super cheap. Really great walking trails too.
Sometimes the bathrooms are closed! Seriously?! The trails are nice, a variable maze. Tennis courts are nice too if thats your forte. Fair amount of shaded parking too so thats a huge plus in the heat.
Fantastic place for hours of birding! A little treasure of St. George!
My kids love the train rides. Theres a picnic table and grass area near the water splash section with is great. Theres a snack shop, its were I usually end up most of the time. Its doesnt have much shade which some parts of the playground can be hot. I usually just wet it a bit or just touch it before the kids go on it.
Cute dinosaur themed park nearby, nice playground and the cleanest smelling public bathrooms Ive ever been in! Lots of parking, shade, and tables to enjoy a picnic.
We were very impressed with this park! It’s huge!! Dinosaur themed, and the splash pad was running and so cute!
We needed a walk after rain, and figured the trails would be muddy. Came here expecting paved paths. Delightfully surprised to find this hidden gem. Lots of desert plants, blooms, trees, color. Box gardening. Great ideas for homeowners and pot gardeners. Lots of info on compost, planting, zones, irrigation, etc to read on signs or take with you from slide out rain proof drawers. This lovely garden could use a little more upkeep, removal of dead plants.
The nature center here is a beautiful but if green here in St George with ponds, sucks, nature walks, and beautiful scenery. Definitely worth the visit
I absolutely love this park. This is great for all ages. Whether you want to ride the train, walk through the volcano or the local bike trails, or lay a blanket on the grass, youre sure to find something.... for even grandma!
This is more like five parks in one plus a walking/biking trail. Am I at a theme park? A secluded nature getaway? A zen garden? A vigorous tennis match? A low-key neighborhood park? Yes to all of the above! My favorite area is the path where the over-arching trees make a tunnel to the nature center. There you will find a pond where the ducks and turtles are eagerly awaiting your day-old bread. ❤️🐢🦆
We took a cross country trip with my two young grandsons during Covid. Not a lot of places were open for them to play but in the August heat of St George we found this park! We all loved it! Got soaking wet and played for about 2 hours before going on our way. The kids wanted to move to St George!! 😊
This park in November is a mix of cool breeze and warm sunshine. Grassy areas, parks, and a duck pond with hungry ducks.
Tonaquint has been a family favorite for my kids ever since our first visit when we moved here two years ago. My kids do chores and whatever they can to earn "train money" so they can go on the train ride. The park has always been clean and well kept. The trail system in and out is a great way to spend the evening walking together as a family and we always make sure to stop by the pond to see the ducks and turtles! Definitely worth the trip.
Awesome park fun for all ages
Great park for all kinds of fun. If you like picnics, riding bikes, leisure stroll, or just laying in the grass enjoying the sun. Love this park just a nice place to take the whole family. You can sign your kids or yourself up for tennis lessons. They also have a train that takes thr kids around the park. Check this park out when bisiting or if you live in ST George.
This is a really great park. The toys seem to be in good functioning order, they had a small water section with some fun water features. The park is dinosaur themed so there’s some cool rock work and dinosaur themed toys. There’s swings, slides, music toys, spinning things, teeter totter toys, and some fun non-traditional pieces that you sit in and slide along a track. The ground in a lot of places is padded which was really nice. There’s a few benches scattered around. Great place to stop and hang with the kiddos for a while. As mentioned most things to be in good functioning order which was pretty important. It seems pretty well maintained, at least from what I noticed.
Great park with A LOT of fun spaces for the little ones. Splash pad with a waterfall is fun to escape the heat. Only downside is it gets EXTREMELY crowded on Holiday weekends and theres quite a few blind spots making it difficult to see your kid. The train is fun, and for only a dollar its a steal.
This is a hidden gem. Its a nature reserve and in the summer they do bird watching and other camp activities for kids. Anytime of the year youll have a different experience there. If you hit it right youll get to watch hundreds of turtles slide over and off each others backs to dive into the biggest pond and see or even feed the fish and ducks and sometimes even swans. Last time there was a couple and the male kept guard over the female on her nest, we got close enough to stand right by him! There are the biggest frogs youll find in Southern Utah if you are quiet enough to sweep by the edge of the ponds. Theres always some cool critter you didnt expect to see. Its really hard to find if you didnt know it was there. You basically drive past the 1st playground park and behind the cemetery until you come to a well shaded parking lot. Then follow the paved walking trail through a mini forest of beautiful plants until you get to a small building with a deck that you can watch all this awesome wildlife! Wonderful place to take kids, I think we have as much fun as adults. Theres a bathroom and drinking fountain near the entrance by the tennis courts. Theres a cement type of amiptheater I suppose youd call it. Where you could seat many people with a stage almost, thats what our kids use it as and a wooden teepee, many little trails to explore and sometimes theres a peacock that roams around and greets you.
Super fun park, train ride for $1, splash pad, and shaded gazebo. The splash pad has shallow parts that are perfect for my baby to sit and splash in. There are not many shady places to sit, but that encourages me to get off my butt and play with my kids. They have a snack stand with chips, candy, cookies-didn’t use it personally but just FYI that it’s there.
This is a beautiful park with walking trails through forest area and a duck pond. Its great for family walks, bird watching, or just looking for a quiet bench to sit and enjoy nature.
Such a nice park! The equipment is basically brand new and is able to be used by people of any ability. The park is designed with accessibility in mind through a combination of ramps and play equipment. There is also a little train that you can purchase tickets to ride around the perimeter for only $1. Right on a bike path too so easy to get to on scooters/bikes!
Was visiting from Washington State and took my five-year-old grandson to this park and we had a wonderful time. We fed the ducks which he absolutely had a great time doing. We had him playing on the swing set singing Christmas songs for about 20 minutes, loving every minute of it! Definitely a fun and safe family centered place
This is a great park with cooler temps in the heat of the summer. They have an awesome nature center where you can look at a garden, and a cool little lake filled with wildlife like fish and ducks. It is landscaped so well. There is also a really cool playground that even has shade nets.
This park is so beautiful. Truly a hidden public sanctuary. So much wildlife. Birds, ducks, beautiful landscape. The city workers do an amazing job keeping this facility pristine. Mornings are the best here as the animals are chipper and happy to see you.
Great park with a nature hike where we saw 11 turtles, hundreds of ducks, couple swans, a lizard and a squirrel just during a small walk. Theres shade for a picnic and tennis courts for the sport minded.
Absolutely amazing! We took our 11 month old here and she had a blast!! She usually cant do much at parks yet except the baby swing but there was so much for her to do here! And the ground is turf so she could crawl around the park without being in wood chips or rocks. Really great park for any age, my husband even wanted to try the rock climbing area. On a warm day definitely bring a swim suit or change of clothes! There is a splash pad that kids love. Thanks for this fantastic, free park in St George. We are looking forward to going back.
FANTASTIC!!! If you want t to go to a playground that has a lot for kids to do this is the place. The downside is that it is very popular, and you sometimes have to wait to play on some of the things. But its worth it. My girls, ages 4 and 2 had a blast so many things to see and do.
Thunder Junction is an awesome park. Everything from slides and swings to a train and a childs zip line type swing. It was created for all abilities to enjoy. There is a water splash area and covered picnic tables as well. Free admission; the train is the only thing that costs money... $1 per person cash only.
This park was so much fun, the kids loved it, so did the adults. The train wasnt running during our visit, hopefully it is next time we visit from Northern Utah. There were lines for playground equipment, but its also not your typical playground apparatuses. Really so much fun and a - every 45 minute - volcano to boot.
