2555 Bay Area Blvd, Houston, TX 77058, United States, Baytown
Long-standing (since 1994) upscale-yet-casual destination for Gulf oysters, other seafood & steaks.
We love this place. It never disappoints. My andouille sausage tasted like my shrimp. Their house wine on the happy hour menu is FANTASTIC!! I had the cab. Its a special wine made just for them.
What a Great find while in town this past weekend. My wife and I were in for an event in Clear Lake, a friend recommended we go to Tommys for oysters and dinner. Although we showed up about 30 minutes before closing time, we were enthusiastically welcomed into the restaurant. We decided to set at the bar and were warmly greeted by Arthur and Nick who gave us incredible Customer Service. We both ordered Oyster and the pecan crusted red fish. This was by far one of the best meals weve had in sometime. Thanks again to Arthur and Nick for such great service and allowing us to stay past closing time without hesitation. We cannot wait to return on our next visit to town. Awesome place if you get a chance to go!
Exceptional restaurant with fantastic food and not exorbitant prices. Not cheap, but definitely worth the price.
Outta this world great food! Whos ever in that back kitchen isnt a cook , hes a chef! The environment is extremely pleasant. The staff incredibly attentive and professional. If you havent tried this place off of Bay area boulevard, youre missing out. Seems to be quite popular with a lot of the locals. I will be back. My experience was fantastic!
Came for lunch hour and sat at the bar. The bartender was very attentive and friendly. He gave me a tour of the menus since it was my first time there and recommended to come in for dinner hour because at the bar it gets full and its fun! The manager greeted me as well and checked on me to make sure the food was great. The food was amazing! I had the special for the day with the tomato basil sauce over fillet and zucchini, corn and mash. Great flavor! I had a cosmo and it was great too! Great customer service goes a long way and the food tasting great was a plus! Definitely can’t want to come back :)
Ambience was nice, a little cold sitting at the bar. Ordered the fried seafood platter because I thought you cant really mess up fried. The fish and the fries were okay, but the rest tasted like burnt batter or old oil was used. Waited for about a half of an hour to get my check and when I said something to the waitress/bartender she said she didnt charge me for the tea (that was the best part of the mealI mean come on!
One of my favorite places to eat. Cocktails are ALWAYS perfect. Bartenders are wonderful.
My husband and I have been here less than a handful of times to dine-in.We ordered a Broiled Seafood Dinner Place "TO-GO" about a week ago. And it was terrible, over-cooked, tiny portions of everything in there. I was not satisfied at all. I tried to call back the restaurant quite a few times but never got thru.So we decided we would go eat in person last night. We got there and before we ordered I asked to speak to The Manager. So Carlos, the manager comes to our table and I share my last experience with our Take-Out order, I even showed him pictures of that order. He apologized but he also made a lot of of excuses. I told him I would like to order the same meal (Broiled Seafood Dinner), Carlos also let me know that he will talk to the chef to assure this dinner will not disappoint us. Well, it was very disappointing. The whole dinner was room temperature. It was not hot at all. The fish, tiny portion of rice and vegetables were not hot or warm.At the end we were given a FREE SLICE OF BREAD PUDDING. My husband doesnt like bread pudding and its not something I would normally order. But ok, thank you.I was very disappointed, especially because we just shared the last experience with Carlos.I feel like there is absolutely no need on giving complaints because the management does nothing to make the next experience any better.I made a decision last night that we will NEVER be returning there for anything. You lost my business forever.
Wow! I had a great dinner 🥘 my grilled Salmon!😋
Very delicious start to finish😋😋😋 Seasonal Shrimp Platter was recommended and did not disappoint. Three different flavors of shrimp...fried, stuffed and etouffee...all different and all delicious. Grilled salmon with mango salsa topping was a very special treat...smokey taste from grill with a sweet mango salsa. Great service. Great atmosphere. Great seafood.
Our first time but not our last. Evening was wonderful and food was fantastic. Great service! Thanks
Wow super good restouran atmosphier very cozy and clean all server were polite and very expert and food was amazing our server his name was jack he was gave us the best service overall we have a excellent experience 😀 and go there again
Cant describe how good this place is. The oysters that I had tonight were the best Ive ever had and their scallops are sweet and tasty. Theyre real tuna is got a really great seasoning to it. Sorry I didnt get the name of the server she did a great job.
Amazing food. I got the off-menu special tonight. Will definitely be going back there. Service and atmosphere were great too!
I dont care for seafood but the pasta and chicken was awesome! Couldve been hotter though. Other than that nice atmosphere and quiet.
Had plans to dine there this evening when a friend called and doubled the number we were expecting. I called to make a reservation. I apologized for the short notice, and explained the situation. I was told they dont take reservations for over 9 people, we had 15. She said I would need to email the manager, Barry Kirk and gave me his address. I got no response and called back after 20-30 minutes. The same employee then told me they could not take my call and asked if I wanted to reschedule. I have NO problem with them being unable to seat us, but I have a huge problem with having my time wasted and being given a run around. Who requires emails for a reservation? Ridiculous. I still have not gotten a reply from Mr. Kirk.I called Escalantes at 1043 Bay Area Blvd and they gladly accepted my reservation. Mr Kirk and his team could take some lessons on customer service and management from them.
Wow! This was great. We took advantage of the happy hour, but we also ordered whatever to celebrate. Apps, drinks, a salad, entree, dessert and bread to snack on. The "jealousy" dessert is named because everyone at the table will be filled with jealous when your desserts come out. Ill be back for sure!
Place is on the fancy side, its expensive, but worth it, food is great, the service is knowledgeable and professional, checks on you timely, drinks come within just minutes of ordering, bread/water was to the table promptly upon being seated immediately & was really good as well. The day was a late Thursday evening so it wasnt busy at all. It may be different on the weekend.Tip: Ask for the special, and for recommendations, they are very helpful.
Decided to check this place out after the front desk of my hotel recommended it several different times. Its an old school "almost" upscale seafood restaurant that I was afraid would be a Landrys-like experience (lower quality frozen seafood from Sysco poorly prepared and overpriced). However, we were very pleasantly surprised. We ordered a couple different cocktails and they were well made and quite strong. The bread and oil was not good - the bread was cold and soft and the herbed oil was too strong to properly complement the bread. The dozen oysters on the half shell were as good as you can get at this time of the year. The fried green tomatoes were absolutely perfectly cooked and were topped with a surprisingly large amount of very good lump crabmeat (probably the best and largest quantity of legit lump crabmeat Ive had in a while). The pecan crusted redfish was skillfully prepared and tasted fresh. My dining companion raved about her stuffed snapper, as well. We both agreed that the side of corn was actually one of the best components of our meal - cut fresh from the cob and seasoned and cooked just right. The green beans were even very good - buttery, fresh, and cooked just right. The meal wasnt cheap at close to $200, but it was worth it, especially compared to some of the other more expensive meals Ive had in the area. We will be back.
Passing through Houston and decided to try Tommys. It was really good. I am from La. where we have great seafood so I was worried but for no reason. The service was fast and friendly. We were definitely well pleased.
First visit tonight. The shrimp au gratin oysters were fabulous. The voodoo shrimp were great. The mushrooms in the sauce were absolutely amazing! We have driven past here countless times and never even thought of stopping. Fortunately a dear friend that frequents here gave us a gift card so we gave it a try. We will definitely tell our friends and will return.
Well, it’s just okay. Oysters were great and our favorite part of the meal. Bread and oil has a taste I’ve never experienced and I enjoyed it. The crab cakes were more like crab stuffing. There was way more bread than crab, so not your typical crab cake. The entrees were not bad, we just didn’t enjoy the taste very well. Overall it was a trendy atmosphere with nice vibes.
Dined here for the first time last night; very impressed! Seafood was tasty & fresh, cucumber mint cocktail was delicious, carrot soufflé was scrumptious, and complimentary bread & oil is to die for; I had asked for seconds it was that good! Service was on point! Paul our server was attentive and friendly! Will return!!
Definitely the place to check out a happy hour. Small bites to eat at great prices :-we enjoy the oysters on the half shell and the fried green tomatoes every visit. Weve had several birthdays the special occasions here as well.
The food was fresh and delectable. The wait staff were topnotch, and atmosphere was very luxurious. If I had one complaint it was that the appetizers were small yet I understand since its fresh unlike other places which they give you so much which could have been frozen or kept in a bag somewhere like a fast food restaurant there they are more catered to a better pallet.
Wife and I celebrated our anniversary here. It was our first time here, we both really enjoyed it. The fried green tomatoes and fish taco appetizers were good. For dinner we had the broiled flounder and seafood pasta pictured. I had never had fish prepared like that, thoroughly enjoyed it. Cheesecake for dessert, very good, not overly sweet. Staff was attentive and polite, we will be going back.
Went there for the first time today for lunch and ordered the shrimp enchiladas, served with green beans & corn - absolutely delicious! The dip served with the bread prior to getting your meal is fantastic as well! Ambiance and service was great! Definitely will be back!
I had med rare steak and grilled shrimp on a bed of mashed potatoes, excellent!! Service was fast and professional, not a lot of chit chat, which i appreciated. Some places try to upsale you like that. I enjoyed the light and bright atmosphere and sound is dampened so conversation is easy. Love it and will be back!
this is only 5 mins away from the NASA Station. the oysters are so delicious and huge.... very cozy and elegant setting, perfect for romantic dates.
You may not think this is good if you heard the ingredients but this strawberry basil mash with Tito’s vodka is deelish!! Miguel will hook you up! Wonderful bartender!!! Can’t say enough! I love this place!
Annual New Years Eve Celebration ! Food and Service was at its finest! Thanks Mariella for taking care of our table of eight👍😎 Loved the Escargot, Calamari, Fried Seafood Platter and topped the night with their special bread pudding dessert 🤗
Solid oysters, good steak, perfectly cooked pasta. The service here was attentive and friendly and everything we ate was cooked well and tasted great. Solid seafood choices and the fried platter was not overly breaded or over cooked which is rare for fried seafood. The oyster sampler had some interesting broiled oysters and unique flavors I haven’t had in oysters before.
We had a a wonderful meal at Tommys last night! My family from out of town loved everything. The standouts were the crispy salmon, steak Diane, and the broiled seafood platter.Sidney did a great job as our server. Well be back... maybe for dessert since we didnt have room this time!!!
It was an experience! Darel was the BEST server ever and I would request him every time! Dinner started off with complimentary bread and sauce which was SO good. The sauce reminded me of a chimichurri sauce. The drunken shrimp is a must try and was bursting with flavor! I tried the broiled seafood platter. My favorite was the baked stuffed shrimp with lemon cream and grilled shrimp. The side of carrots was unique and delicious. My husband tried the American red snapper meal. To top everything off we had the vanilla cheesecake with strawberry sauce and fresh strawberries. THE MOST DELECTABLE CHEESECAKE IVE EVER HAD!!! Made in house and Id order it every single time 🍓🍰
Great lunch our Bar tender Paul made me a delicious Blue Suede Shoe Martini and the Shrimp enchiladas are amazing. Great place.
This place is a hidden gem! Very classy and everything from the appetizer to the dessert, “jealousy”, was delicious! The manager, Carlos and his staff provided excellent service, they were kind and attentive. We had the special, red snapper with tomato basil sauce, shrimp and crawfish over rice pilaf! Wait, did I just remember all that😂 My husband and I were there for date night, we highly recommend it!! And, tell everyone, the food was better than Pappadeaux or Perry’s for sure! Just sayin’, we loved it!
What a fun place! The restaurant design is unique and lovely. I had the Tommys Trio, three different types of grilled oysters. I cant recall the names of each, but the first had a creamy sauce, then oysters Rockefeller (?), With spinach (one had a piece of sausage!and something I call nacho oysters. Thats right, covered in cheese with peppers and spicy! They were wonderful all!My wife had grilled red snapper with a pecan crust that was to die for!For dessert, we had the key lime tower. I have never eaten something so tasty and so fun! Think lime sherbet on lemon gelatin (more firm than pudding, but way more dense than Jell-O). The graham crust was so thick, a passing waiter gave us a steak knife! I think theyve had that problem before. No problem, it just added to the fun of the two of us eating this towering frozen lemon lime concoction that tasted heavenly and was so fun to eat. We probably bothered the table next to us, we were laughing so hard.Through this all, Paul our waiter took really good care of us, offering advice and encouragement to try something new.The atmosphere was busy and noisy, with a birthday party in the private room, but it didnt bother us, we were enjoying the evening at this fine seafood restaurant.
Absolutely delicious. I got a jalapeno-cucumber martini. Odd? Yes. But delicious. We had Tommys broiled oysters for an appetizer. Delicious. I ordered the Crispy Salmon. Delicious. Husband ordered the special (red snapper with a crab-avocado sauce). Delicious. 10/10.
Had the crunchy salmon and broiled seafood platter. Entrees came with house salad green beans, corn, and mashed sweet potato. Everything tasted great with clean decor and affordable prices; with most entrees ranging $25-$40. Patrons were mostly older, between 50- 70s yrs old. Definitely not a place for a bunch of kids.
I went for lunch hoping to get some fresh oysters but unfortunately they have about a three week period, in July, when they dont have fresh oysters. Just my luck to visit when that happens. Not too disappointed though since they had a large menu to pick from. I went with the seafood linguine and was not disappointed. The bread served with a parmesean pesto sauce was a surprise and so good! My plate arrived piping hot and you could tell it was prepared fresh.. I visited mid afternoon and there was plenty of servers still available to make you feel pampered. Nice place and highly recommend. 👌
The food here is awesome and well worth the price! To start, we had crab cakes which are by far the most tasty crab cakes I have ever had. For our entree, my boyfriend had the jambalaya pasta which was more than filling for him and I had the stuffed shrimp pontchartrain which is basically shrimp with sauce over crab cakes! 🤤 10/10 would recommend and will definitely be coming back!
Haven’t been here in about 5 years. Place is still stellar. Excellent service and atmosphere. I got the Asian tuna steak and it was cooked perfectly and that sauce, fantastic. My wife got the crab cakes and she really enjoyed them. Everything was fresh and on point. That corn, 🤤. We will have to add this place to our date night rotation.
Fabulous experience! We were seated quickly, service was friendly and professional. All of the food was delicious! We had oysters, crab stuffed mushrooms, Asian Tuna, and the Shrimp Poboy. Our server, Julio, was really great!! He attended to all of our needs in a quick and personable manner. Will definitely be going back!
Everything was very delicious. I think drunk shrimps were the best. Definitely worth your visit, specifically during happy hours 4-6PM.
Mr. Ruben was very attentive and helpful and made sure that my celiac disease wouldnt be ignored. We ordered Raw and Grilled oysters, Drunken Shrimp, Scallops, Salads (cruton freeand Creme Brulee. Everything was delicious and I did not get sick due to any gluten cross-contamination. Thank you Ruben, Chef and team!
For the price, I expected more from Tommys. First they had great social distancing in place. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. We ordered the oyster trio, the only one we didnt care much for was the spinach, it was very soggy so we didnt even eat the last one. Next we ordered and got salads, side salads with blue cheese. Well I dont know how you can ruin a salad but it happened. Our salads were drenched in dressing, we didnt finish those either. Next our entrées showed up, you dont get to choose your sides as all dishes come with the same sides, corn, some carrot mush and steamed broccoli. All the sides were cold and needed flavor badly. I didnt eat any of them after my initial tasting. As for the entrées they were seasoned with the same seasoning just different amounts to make them seem different. My husband liked his therefore I give this place some credit but I had mine boxed up and brought it home. Its still in my refrigerator untouched....Update: My husband threw the food away yesterday. We ordered as follows on 7/31: Tommys Trio, Gulf Coast Redfish (blackened), Broiled Seafood Platter (also the "stuffed shrimp" was not stuffed, it was butterflied open & fashioned with the fried stuffing between the two pieces of shrimp& two Dr. Peppers. Our total was $99.05, tip not included which we left 20% of our total bill.Pictures added, sorry for the half eaten Trio.
Amazing food and the service could not have been better. My drink never got close to being empty, the food was out soon after ordering, and the attitude was great. The whole restaurant looked very modern which is a very nice look. I recommend the Asian Tuna, it was very well cooked, coated in sesame seeds, and topped with a wonderful sauce. Update: I went back again and enjoyed the seared scallops, they were also excellent and I would recommend!
LOVE LOVE LOVE! Beautiful as soon as you enter. Sat at the bar for happy hour. Dawn the bartender was the best! Tommys Grilled Oysters and Drunken Shrimp both fabulous. Floor manager Carlos was stopping at each table to make sure everyone was happy. He even filled my water glass! I havent had service this amazing in a long time. Im glad I live close to this jewel.
A long time clear lake fixture serving seafood and steaks. Reasonably priced wine list with a very good and popular happy hour with cheap oysters in the half shell and specials on house drinks and wines. Attentive service.
This was a birthday treat from my wife and she hit it out of the park with this selection. We didnt have a reservation, so we sat at the bar which is first come - first served. That did not diminish the stylish atmosphere. The atmosphere is stylish without stuffiness. Friendly, helpful staff. The crispy salmon was recommended to us by a friend, so that is what we both had, which is rare for us. But, it was so good it may happen again. The prices were reasonable. We shared the Voodoo Shrimp appetizer, the entree (came with a salad too), shared a dessert, and a glass of wine each for less than $100. I was very impressed and we will be back.
