192 Grand St, New York, NY 10013, United States, New York City
Informal Spanish storefront restaurant & tapas bar featuring Galician fare with wines & cocktails.
Excellent service with very authentic fare both for drinks and food. Knowledgeable and professional staff.
Recently came back from Barcelona and was looking for an authentic Spanish experience jn NYC. This throughly met my expectations. Will def come back. Try the zamburiñas.
Everything is great. Highly recommend lobster Spanish rice and octopus. Price is good as well. Btw come here and try house old fashion, never regret.
Just had a delicious dinner with tapas. I accidentally reserved a table for outside and they were able to switch us to cosy booth inside. Service was excellent. I appreciate that they don’t rush you out, which is unusual in the city.
I discovered this restaurant by accident while walking in Soho, Tomiño is a tapas restaurant from Galicia, Spain. I know this region since My family is originally from the North of Spain. I decided to try it. My friend and I decided to sit at the bar, as soon as we walked in, we were greeted by Felipe (one of the ownershe was friendly and seemed very professional, giving us his recommendations on the menu. The menu had different tapas choices and various delicious entrees choices. We decided on the Pulpo (grilled Octopus), the patatas bravas and the croquetas. We met our bartender Jonathan, he was absolutely wonderful, he had a great since of humor and prepared an excellent Gin & Tonic. The restaurant was very busy and people seem to be treated the same way as if they were not so busy, impressive! The food was excellent, the service was fantastic, I highly recommend this restaurant, thumbs up! I will definitely visit again on my next trip to NYC, a must if you’re in Soho! This place is a fantastic neighborhood gem, bravo!09/30/2022Consistency!!Back at Tomiño this passed week since I was back in NYC, I am happy to say this gem is still amazing! The food, the ambiance and the attention were on point, again. This time I tried the pan con tomate and the croquetas and of course Jonathan’s gin tonic, delicious! See you next time!
Mediocre tapas place. The only dish I liked was rice with squid ink, but even that could have a pinch of more salt. Octopus was rather disappointing, Cone pan Tomate was.... ugh I can make it better. Cigalas was pretty good, but I wish they prepared bit better, so easier to eat.I read the chef worked in the legendary restaurant in Girona, Spain (which is my favorite one in earth)... I dont see any influence from there...Generally okay service, some servers were rude.
Very authentic. Some of the best tapas Ive had in NYC. The octopus and chorizos were spectacular.
Really cant ask for a better tapas experience in NYC. Everything is very high quality and reasonably priced for both the quality and the location. Wine list is very expansive as well as being very affordable. Suggest getting the tapas and not worrying about the large format dishes. Desert definitely a highlight as well.
Booked a reservation here for myself and a few others. From the moment we walked in, we received excellent service. The staff was so kind, attentive and overall friendly. We ordered the pimientos, ham croquettes, pan con tomate, scallops, Iberico pork shoulder medallions, patatas bravas and squid. Everything was really delicious and just so well prepared/presented. There were a few standout items, though. The squid was one of the best I’ve ever had. The texture was perfect, not chewy and the flavor had a subtle smokiness to it. The pork medallions were also melt-in-your-mouth good and paired with a very savory, but not over powering, sauce.Leave some room for dessert and order the milk chocolate dish. It’s exactly as I had it in Barcelona. If you are a chocolate lover, you can’t miss it!
Great place for seafood, delicate flavor. I like octopus, scallop and prok ribs.
Tomiño is a tremendous restaurant. Inside the restaurant it is clean and has a very nice mellow atmosphere for dining. All of the workers there are kind and diligent. I was especially pleased that the main chef of the restaurant kindly pointed out to me which items on the menu are gluten free when I asked. The waiters are also informed about the contents of the food served. The food here is so flavorful and done with the utmost care. I had a wonderful time and look forward to coming back.
Jamon, Octopus, Mixed Croquet, Chorizo, Squid with rice, all of them were great. Also, sparkling and white whine were awesome. Lastly, espresso with some liquor was outstanding
Decent food and atmosphere, both of their signature dishes (picturedare great for group sharing!
Excellent food and nice service. The Gin and Tonics were the best I have tried in the world.
We have been in New York for 5 months and eat out several times a week. This is hands down one of the best meals we have experienced. Octopus was cooked and seasoned perfectly, the Iberico Jamon was tender and flavorful and the drink menu was creative. Highly recommend!
The tapas were good, mains were bad. I guess the lesson is if you come to a tapas restaurant stick with the tapas. Everything in the tapas section is worth a try. Really liked the scallops, lamp chops (forgot to photo), and tomato bread. For the two shared entrees, seafood rice was okay, the steak was horrible. The steak was somehow cooked to both well-done and rare, didn’t have much flavor, and in general tasted more like plain roast beef than a piece of steak.
I highly recommend this Galician restaurant, and I think it’s top tier compare to other Spanish restaurants I have been. They have a more extensive selection of sea food, and octopus, oh gosh, octopus. The octopus is the tenderest I ever had, compare to those other places that made hard and overcooked octopus, the octopus here is tender as baby soft. Zamburiñas and Cigalas are also well cooked. And mushrooms…as a meat lover somehow I fall in love with their mushrooms. Smoky with cream and chewy. The price isn’t expensive at all given the quality of food. Two people eating till fully filled with some even to go would be around $150. I think it definitely is one of the worthy place to go.
Absolutely all the food is delicious. The menu is just really authentic Spanish food, and both the cocktails (particularly the Gin & Tonicsand the wine list are very comprehensive. We enjoyed all the dishes, particularly the Pulpo a feira, the jamón and the Arroz Caldoso. The desserts were also delicious, both the Tarta de Santiago and the Torrija. And overall the service was delightful. I would recommend as probably the best Spanish food restaurant you can find in Manhattan and will definitely come back!
I’ve been a plenty of times to this place and everything is amazing, incredibly tasteful food, the service is outstanding and honestly, the attitude of everyone from the staff is my favorite part, they make you feel welcome and are super attentive. Highly recommended. Do not sleep on the croquetas, order half and half and trust me, you won’t regret it.
Spectacular restaurant!! Really good spanish food. The service was excellent. You wont regret it. 200 % recommended.
First of all, just know the staff is amazing. Kind, charming, knowledgeable, and make for a great dining experience.Second, the food is incredible. Every dish is so well balanced. You just can’t go wrong here!
Delicious! Great atmosphere and good service. Definitely would go back again!
A truly amazing experience. This restaurant is a pearl in Manhattan. A spanish Gallego restaurant, serving tapas, fish, meat. I tried some tapas and they all very delicious and very well prepared. The presentation of the different tapas is very pleasant. Flavors are reach but light at the same time. I loved the service: the staff is extremely polite and pays attention to every single detail to make your experience unique, all of this without being intrusive. There is clearly a very strong leadership and training behind as well as a very healthy and serene atmosphere. Well done! Highly recommended
Great Spanish food and tapas! The jamon, croquetas and octopus were great! Definitely worth trying the paella style lobster. The drink are very nice and large too!Recommended for an aperitif (only drinks and few snacks to share - although a little expensive), or a very casual/informal midday date.
The food was amazing and unique. We came here because the restauranteur hired this Spanish female chef Lucía Freitas to design the menu, and we went to her restaurant in Spain and loved it. Staff was friendly and the Spanish wine we had was great. Will come back.
Tapas for big groups and value for money, considering the portions and amount of seafood dishes we ordered. Pictures reflect the dishes I enjoyed. The iberico pork was bomb - so tender and flavorful. The lobster rice dish was amazing, but so huge its honestly for more than 2 unless you both dont wish to order anything else. Also, dont dice right into it when the dish is served; the consistency and flavor gets thicker after it sits for a little. Youre also likely better off ordering wine instead of cocktails, which were pretty diluted in flavor.
Excellent paella, pulpo, and croquettas. The tortilla was well done. The pulpo is a must! It was nicely seasoned, tender, and meaty. The Tomahawk steak was perfectly salted. Excellent service and recommendations from the server were 👌🏼.
A little bit of Spain in Little Italy in NYC...made us feel like we were on our normal summer holidays to Europe rather than a trip to the US. This food was delicious...was good to see padron peppers on a menu in the US! Sit at the bar and order as many dishes as you can (great wine/beer selection too)
My favorite Spanish restaurant in NYC by far, and I’ve been to almost all. Terrific staff and delicious food. A few of my favorites are the pulpo (octopus), tortilla de Betanzos, lamb chops, pimientos de padrón (shishito peppersand croquetas. The best dessert is the tarta de Santiago. You’ll see/hear many Spanish people there, which is always a good sign for authenticity.
More like 4.5 stars. Awesome food and good portions. Would recommend 2 entrees per person to share family style. Gin drink was a bit too juicy for me
Not bad, the tapas tasted great albeit slightly salty, the rice portion was very large, good for 4 ppl. My favorite was the mushroom dish 😄
Food was good, not superior as you would expect for a Michelin restaurant but nothing to complain about. Service was good, time of waiting ok, price ok. Overall a good experience but nothing memorable.
I went to this tapas restaurant for a birthday dinner, and it was such a wonderful experience! Everything was so delicious. I didn’t have a single dish I didn’t enjoy. The grilled mushrooms, tortilla, and croquettes were especially amazing. I don’t know how they did it, but the croquettes were smooth, soft, and pillowy on the inside and perfectly crunchy on the outside. Highly recommend this place; I’ll definitely be back.
The most amazing tapas I’ve had in all of NYC! The croquetas, pan con tomate, pulpo, and tortille de betanzos were incredibly rich and well seasoned. The croquetas, especially, melted in my mouth and was a table favorite! The patatas bravas were good as well, not as crispy as expected but still tasted great. The paella was definitely the star of the show: this is a must-get if you ever come! All in all, the food was beyond delicious and the staff/service was incredibly kind. You’ll have to come here if you want the best tapas in town.
Great good, octopus, omelette, grilled pepper, crepe dessert are our favorite. Made me fall in love with Spanish food now!
Great services and delicious foods👍 Recommended the seafood dishes, we enjoyed eating sliced bread with the sauces! Staffs friendly introduced the menu, service water. The atmosphere in the restaurant was lively, we need to speak loudly to each other, but still happy and spent time there! The location was convenient too, we took metro and had a small walk. Can definitely visit again for sure~
Being from Spain I have always struggled to find a good authentic Spanish Tapas in NYC. This beats all the expectations. The food is absolutely unreal. I literally felt like I was back in Spain having tapas.
First time having Galician cuisine, and boy was it a delight. All the tapas I had were great, but I was a little disappointed Arroz Caldoso--even after letting it cool so more of the flavor came through, it was still somewhat bland compared to the other dishes. Personal favorite dish was the parrillada de setas; I will come back to eat here just for this dish, it was that good! The service was also friendly, timely and accommodating.
Great food and wonderful service!Their paella is really big and delicious, I would recommend 3-4 people to share the dish while it says for 2 people.Their octopus is really also fresh and soft! The fired jalapeño is a little spicy, but it’s a good appetizer to share.Overall a recommended Spanish restaurant here!
Very nice tapas exactly what we want (in contrast to many other tapas in nyc but mostly serving big dishes).About dishes:Our favorite was the charcoal grilled baby-back rib. It had very rich BBQ flavor close to the Uyghur style lamb on screwer or Patagonia style grilled lamb. The sauce was made of tomato, olive oil and maybe lemon juice and paprika too, for offsetting the greasy feeling. Sausage was redundant in my mind as this preserved food had enough salt to destroy my kidney. The salad was a surprise. Decided at the very end as we would have some greens. The flavor was balanced just right. The crispy pulled pork would be better if the chef was more generous. Thought it’s just deep fried pork skin at beginning, although tasty. The squid rice had very rich squid flavor (in the right way). Portion was perfect for 2 ppl to share along with other 4 dishes we ordered.Octopus was very juice although I would say it’s excellent if salt was lighter.Croquetas tasted like fried corn chowder. I would skip it if could get rid out one.About service:Water was always added when my glass was almost empty but they wouldn’t bother us for asking everything okay, which I really liked personally (particularly when chewing food). But we found out at the end that other tables came after us got served bread, maybe we got there too early (at 5)? Or the waiter felt we had ordered too much for 2 ladies? Regardless, no bread.
My favorite place to go when the morriña hits! Authentic galician vibe and food, Tomiño will make you travel (backto Galicia ❤ The tortilla tasted just like my grandmas!
Num ñum tapas and Galician region of Spain tapas, great octopus and jam and cheeses. Flight of Albariño wines for pairing was perfect. Friendly Spaniard hosts and staff. We sat at bar on a lazy Saturday and dreamed of being in a small Atlantic coast fishing village at the end of the world in Galicia… dreamy.
Every plate we ordered is sort of tasty but none stands out that surprised me. Overall good and I like the vibe!
Great food and exceptional service. Their seafood is a must try. Almond cake was also good.
A good place for the tapas! We loved the seafood and beer there. The inner place is super lovely!
Really love their lobster risotto #arroz caldoso ! So creamy and delicious🤤 Definitely the one to order if you have a party more than 3. There are lots of tapa options to choose from, highly recommended this lamb chop!
I do not have enough starts to give to this restaurant. So authentic, I really love this place. The food is amazing and the people who works here make you feel at home every moment. The best Spanish-Galician food in NY.
Had a great dinner at Tomiño. They had a selection of all classic tapas. Croquettas were delicious, so was the squid, jamon Iberico and sardines. The paella was really well done as well. Can’t wait to go back!
Tapas deliciosas y atmósfera bien españolaGo here for authentic tapas. Not cheap, but not overly expensive. Pair shared tapas with a good beer or sangria, and youll feel more satisfied than if you ate a 4 course meal.
We visited Spain 2 years ago and miss their food so much. We were impressed to find a similar taste from Tomino Taberna Gallega with great quality and reasonable price. We tried their Baby Back Ribs, Baby Squid and Shrimp to share with a group of two. Everything was delicious, especially the squid, grilled perfectly, soft and juicy. The shrimp was flavorful, appetizing and tasted the best with the complimentary bread.
